This is especially since this neighborhood of older homes has had its fair share of homes that have settled and either needed or had foundation repair work done, and driveways and sidewalks that have cracked. Jack took his time to carefully take all of the measurements needed and explained to us his findings, even though it was evident to him early on that this particular home was very sound. He was there for over an hour since it was a large house (not to mention that he was really early and waited on us) for the measurements, and then showed us his drawings and measurements to confirm to us that the home did not need any foundation work done. We were very relieved to hear that. As a Realtor, I especially appreciated his honesty and integrity, and from now on, whenever any of my clients, colleagues--or anyone at all--asks me to refer a foundation company to them, I will be happy to send them over to Perma Pier and request Jack Dempsey. They were professional and didn't hesitate to provide lots of information. The price was much lower than I was expecting it to be. The crew came out about a week later and they did a great job with the home. It is a pier and beam foundation on a 100 year old home. The floors inside had as much as 4" in variance, and they took it to just about all even. They finished by 3pm that same day, and the foreman and assistant were very easy to work with, and with a large coordinated crew, they got the work done quickly and did a fantastic job. Honesty, Integrity, Professionalism…read more This was my experience with Groundworks Foundation Consultation. Beau Roper arrived at our property on time, introduced himself politely, and gave us a quick overview of what to expect -- how long things would take and when we'd get the report back. We walked the property together so I could point out any issues and he could ask questions. He then got to work, explaining that the inspection would take about an hour to an hour and a half since he needed to be thorough and photograph everything on the property. We ran some errands and came back just as he was finishing up. He walked us through everything he'd done and made sure my wife felt comfortable with the findings before leaving the property clean and orderly. Moving forward, Groundworks kept us updated on the status of the report and what to expect next. Everything arrived exactly on time. I can't thank them enough -- this was an exceptional experience compared to other contractors I've dealt with. Groundworks provided a very thorough report, complete with the licensed engineer's information, which made a real difference. Quick note for anyone in Texas: there's no state license or requirement to be a foundation contractor here -- all you need is a shovel. It's a pretty wide-open, unregulated space. That's what made Groundworks' transparency stand out even more. As it turned out, our house didn't need any foundation work, so we don't know firsthand how they'd handle an actual repair. But if we ever do need one, it'll be with Groundworks -- because of how Beau Roper handled everything, start to finish.

The only concern I have is that they dug up my bush and put it back and now it is dead. They also used my electricity for their equipment which left me with an outrages electric bill. I ask would they be giving me a credit for my bill and was told no. Foundation work is not cheap and for them to use my electricity to operate their jackhammers and microwaves for eating their lunch on me that I am paying for is ridiculous. Not to mention they kill two of my plants with no replacement. So this is why I am giving them 2 stars. If you use them be sure that they bring a generator to operate their equipment and if they have to dig up your plants make sure they replace them with new ones. Because the one that dig up will not and replace will not live.

They were very thorough in what they inspected. It took about 45 minutes to do their adjustments in the home and another 30 inspecting the outside of our house. When they finished they went over everything with me and quoted out a price. The evaluation was free and their price was lower than a few competitors so we used them. They showed on time at the date agreed upon. They got to work quick. The foremans names was Marco. He was really good at getting everything set up. He had copies of what needed to be done. He was able to get the entire job completed in two days with 28 piers being placed. They used covers on the ground and got all of the dirt put back together. I was happy that some of the cracks in the home closed. The brick work gaps were also closed. They sent an email with the warranty after as well.

This made our home-buying process extremely less stressful! When I came out to check on the site - the engineer was very helpful, listened and was informative. After sharing the report with my home inspector, they mentioned how impressed they were with the detail and coverage of the inspection. Considering some of the rates we were quoted, this was the best price hands down in the Houston area. I would recommend to anyone who is looking at a well tailored, attentive and great priced engineer!

As it turned out, the company that originally did the work was sold to another party but kept the same name. Its good reputation did not transfer to the new owner, in my opinion. Expect poor customer service should do business with Hy-tech Foundation.

Mr. Dawson and his son came out and gave the time to really educate me on the process which gave encouragement and confidence about the job. His project managers came on time and communication was great. All his crew all have over 15-20 yrs of exp. minimum. All said and done about 30 plus piers and no more anxiety.
