We chose Precision Electric as we live in Livermore (so aim to support our local mechanics). We had a very odd situation with an entire wall of outlets blown out in our kitchen. I consider myself to be really very mechanical, but was stumped. In retrospect, I feel a little sheepish because the solution was so obvious. I phoned Mark, (cell phone so I got him immediately), and before he even agreed to come visit, he insisted we "walk through" and rule out possible scenarios in order to eliminate what the problem could possibly be. Turned out (I surmised) I had dripped water from our pull-out kitchen faucet onto the electrical plug, when I was filling the tank of our coffee machine. My bad. So the Ground Fault Circuit Interruption outlet did its thing, and I had not even noticed it because that particular outlet has a lamp and a phone plugged in there. I put the phone down, went back to the kitchen, and lo and behold, that was the solution. I cleared and then reset the GFCI button, and that fixed the problem. I asked Mark if I owed him anything, and he said no, so I am ever so grateful for this three-minute fix over the phone. What a great guy! Precision Electric is now our electrician for this household. Considering this era of messing with people and taking advantage of them, this was a great experience from a fine, upstanding electrician. Couldn't ask for more. read more

Just as the other reviews state you will be very happy with Precision Electric. Mark did a Kick A** job on our new LED recessed lighting. You don't want to mess around with electricity. Mark knows what he is doing, works hard, gets the job done fast, and is very thorough. Support local small businesses and give him a try. You might be able to get an unlicensed person that doesn't speak good English for cheaper, and you might die in a fire too when your house burns down if you do that. I needed to get recess lights and 5 in-ceiling speakers installed in my 2013 home. Too bad that I had not taken the options when I bought it new. I needed it done in my 1st floor and hence I was told it is not straight forward. I researched and found Precision Electric and decided to go with them. It was a professional interaction with Mark in getting the quote and scheduling. We scheduled and the first time I was not ready with the speakers and hence I had to move the appointment and Mark was very nice about willing to come back again. Once I got my stuff, was able to quickly scheduled with Mark. He then came with Jason and the 2 of them did a very professional work in installing the lights and the speaker. They were extremely efficient in figuring out the best way to get the wiring done with minimal impact on wall and ceiling. In my case he just got the whole thing done with just a single small circular hole and is very easy to get fixed. They even made sure my home was cleaned up before they left. Wow, what great experience. Before calling Precision (Mark) we contacted another company that had been recommended. They wanted $95 to just give an estimate and after reading the reviews we didn't want to have them out. So we decided to call Precision, mostly based on Yelp reviews, and from the first phone call to Mark, to the moment the task was completed, we could not have been happier. We had an old fluorescent fixture replaced with canned LED lights and new LEDs in family room and a ceiling fan. Also had an attic fan installed. Mark arrived at 7:30 a.m. and his helper came after getting supplies. All tasks were completed in about five hours and Mark made sure we were in agreement with placement of new lights. On June 21, 2012 Mark Kilbane corrected the wiring on the receptacles in our home garage, added more outlets (inside and out) and did new wiring and new outlet boxes for exterior lighting. I had been an electrician for many years and always did my own work. Due to physical limitations, I was in need of hiring one for the first time in my life. I looked at yelp and chose Precision Electric. I called Mark at 7AM and received a call back in less than an hour. Mark informed me that he could come by later that morning and would call when he was available. Mark called at 9:50 and said he would be by at 10AM. He arrived promptly at 10 and reviewed my problem with me and immediately set about isolating a short circuit problem. It required Mark to open several receptacles and switches. I needed an electrician to check out my pool system which just completely shut down. I found Mark and Precision Electric on Yelp and liked his 5 star rating and that he was a Livermore business. We discussed the problem over the phone and he agreed to come by the next day to check it out. Looking for an competent, professional and reasonably priced electrician, your search is over!! On Friday night the electricity went out in part of our house. I tried a number of companies out of the phone book but found Precision Electric on Yelp and they answered. The owner agreed to come by on Saturday. He was prompt, and really knew his stuff. He had to systematically go through the system until he found the problem. He could have really socked it to me on the cost but he charged me the same weekday rate ($120) for the entire service call. I hired Mark, who owns this business, to do about $2500 in electrical work. Though his hourly rate of $100/hr. was more than the average of $80/hr., I decided to hire him because of his immediate availability. He visited my home in person to give me an estimate. He took notes and explained what needed to be done. In fact, he tended to exaggerate the work that was needed and the difficulty. For example, he said that my existing plastic mounting boxes were fragile and should be replaced with metal ones. Then when he came to do the upgrades, he said that the plastic boxes were secure and did not replace them.... talking about bait & switch. Also, he used an assistant who's less experienced so the quality of work was probably not as good. Even with his assistant, he had difficulty threading wires such that he took twice as long as estimated for that task. He kept on complaining how he would be underpaid because it took longer. In fact, he used foul language many times such that I had to leave the room to avoid his moodiness. In regards to quality, he did not tighten a glass lampshade that he installed. Six months later, the glass lampshade fell off the ceiling and broke! Thank God I was not sitting under it 'cause there could have been major injuries and a subsequent lawsuit. Nevertheless, the lampshade set me back about $50. I recommend hiring another electrician because Mark's work is "ok" at best and definitely overpriced; I think I overpaid by at least $500. read more

This business is awesome! Our power went out. We called a competitor and got an estimate for a bunch of work we didn't need to the tune of $12,100. I was suspicious so I decided to get another estimate. I looked around and found Precision Electric on Yelp. The proprietor, Mark, and I traded voicemails late Friday. He was tired, said he was going to turn off his phone but that I was welcome to send him an email. I sent him the quote I had received. He was outraged. He responded to me well into the night. He asked me to send pics of the panels and he said things didn't look bad but he would have to take a firsthand look. He came on a Saturday--a day when his business wasn't open and when he was booked two weeks out. He found the problem within 5 minutes. A loose screw on a breaker and the switch tripped. My wife and I were ready to sign up for a financing plan to cover the 12 grand. Thank goodness for Precision Electric. Our business will go nowhere else. read more

I recently used Precision Electric (Mark) to run a new 50 AMP circuit for a hot tub and hook it up. He came out and gave me a reasonable quote and then did a wonderful job when it came to doing the work. There is a reason his company is named "Precision Electric". That is, he is very precise in his work. You can tell he takes great pride in doing a clean and safe job. Interestingly, this wasn't the first time I called Precision Electric (Mark) out to my house. A year earlier I was doing a kitchen remodel and had all new appliances delivered and was freaking out because while reading the installation instructions I convinced myself I needed more capacity and called Mark out ready (well not exactly ready but had resigned myself) to spend some more money. He made time to come out right away so as not to hold up my remodel. He assessed the situation and told me all was okay and didn't charge a penny so my assessment is that he is honest to boot.
