Two words: Stay away. I used to encourage my fellow professional photographers to spend their money locally. I no longer feel that way about Precision Camera. My review is based on years of frequenting this business, not just a few isolated instances. Things have gotten much worse in recent years, particularly since ownership changed hands. Rarely have I encountered such apathy, incompetence, and inefficiency, particularly when it comes to the photo lab. The other day I was given someone else's order, and when I pointed this out to the person "helping" me, her response was "It has your name on the envelope." When my order was eventually found, they had cropped off the top of the photo. And they can rarely find any photo orders without looking in multiple drawers and then venturing off to the back room. Recently I submitted an order that was extremely time-sensitive because the prints were for a funeral. I explained this in explicit detail and was told to come back the next night right before closing. The prints were not ready. No apology, no explanation, no phone call. There are 3 notable exceptions to the pervasive bad attitude at Precision: Tamra, who is a wonderful, patient, and highly knowledgeable salesperson; Robert, who knows way more than you ever want to know about camera gear, and is very committed to customer service; and Noel, who runs the repair and rental department and has gone above and beyond for me on several occasions. As recently as yesterday, with the Omicron Covid variant on the rise, I pointed out to the owner that most of the staff and none of the management were wearing masks. He was completely dismissive and expressed his skepticism about masks in general. 'Nuff said. read more

My husband and I went into this location (together) several times to look at cameras and lenses as he wanted to buy some equipment. Each time we went in to speak with associates, they were attentive and knowledgeable. We ended up speaking with a few different people and finally decided on a camera and lenses. We spent nearly $2000 on our very first purchase from this company. The associate who we ultimately purchased from (Matt) was nice and attentive. He informed us that we had a 14 day window to return any equipment with the receipt no questions asked. And we left the store happy customers. Once my husband got home, and opened everything, he determined that it was not the extra lens that he had wanted. It was a different one. So 2 DAYS later, my husband went back to the location to initially exchange the lens for the correct one. However, upon entering the store and approaching the counter, he was very blatantly ignored and not even greeted. Even though there were several (non-busy) employees that made eye contact with him and then made a very obvious attempt to avoid him altogether. Finally, about 45 MINUTES LATER someone who was previously busy with someone else, asked to help. My husband, at this point, was very annoyed and then decided to just return the lens altogether. The associate says " Oh I don't think you can return it." Before even LOOKING at the item. Then upon inspecting the lens says that there is "obvious wear and tear" and that they will have to charge a restocking fee. Mind you, the associate that we bought the camera from mentioned nothing of the sort. So that added to my husband's frustration. Normally, I wouldn't mention this because it should be IRRELEVANT. But my husband is black and I am white and it was very obvious the difference in customer service that the employees displayed upon entering this store. Suffice it to say, we will not be giving them any further business. read more

Being from out of state in particular (California) we went to Precision Camera as a last resort to get a camera to replace one that failed on set. We were sold in the Sony a74 which didn't fit our wouldn't record audio and about 1/2 our footage from this camera was ruined. That said, we called to return the camera within 5 days of buying it along with a ton of other gear. camera came in a very shoddy Box they opened in store to show us the camera. We called 3 days in a row before I went back home to try to have a return setup and a time where they could review the camera audio and also the fact it came with the firmware updates already. They said I could ship it back to them as I have 30 days and at the very least there may be a restocking fee if we can't return all the accessories. 15%. This also included any egg carton interior pieces and the box which is easily handled with the vendor as we return items whiteout the box even that cost far more than this Sony. We got home and called for 2 weeks until we finally got a women who was working from home apparently and was their returns and refunds associate. She was not nice in anyway and proceeded to tell us our time is almost up and we need to ship that out today. We had to pay for shipping even though the item was 100-% defective and not brand new. We were told to get. Insurance on it also as we did for 3k. Value bThis covered everything as long as they followed their policy of checking the inventory and product when it comes in in case there was any issues. Which there wasn't because UPs in California packs and charges 49$ and 50 to ship and to pack these things perfectly when insurance is involved. Everything was good to go. We sent it back. They recieved and told us our refund will be to us in a couple days. 2 weeks past, and I called and emailed to see what was going on. I was advised to call back which took another week and knocked us out of the insurance range for the ups insurance claim. The kicker. The women told us the video camera was scratched and the box was wrinkle beyond reconfiguring which she provided falsely timed photos as the metadata told a differnt story of when they were taken. Recently, I was on the market for Nikon 70-200 Zoom lens, and found a used one listed on PCV's website. Harrison was very knowledgeable and was enjoyable to deal with. Thank you, PCV and thank you, Harrison! read more

One of the best camera stores in the country outside of an actual visit to B&H in NYC. The staff is eager to help, the used equipment selection extensive and sometimes excellent deals to be had. When ever going to Austin I'm sure to check out their inventory online just incase I "need" something. Been many times and will return ever chance I get! read more

What a great experience!! I brought my cameras in and Steven sat down with me and took the time to show me how to use them, answered all my questions and was so thoughtful and kind. Paul at the used gear counter is a GEM! He takes great pride in the organization of the counter and is very knowledgeable about the gear he's selling. Paul took the time to get to know me and the kind of events I shoot and tailored his recommendations to my needs. He also made such that I left the store with enough batteries, a lens cap, and a charger! Buying used gear can be nerve racking but Paul made me feel so confident in the purchase of my Sony A7iii. I will definitely be back! read more

Great place with great people! I've been coming here for years and have never had a problem. I've gotten stuck with the same young dark-haired saleswoman twice whose confidence overshadows her knowledge, and who steals sales from her co-workers. I told her what size lens cap I needed and they didn't have it in stock. She even said it was an unusual size, even though it is for a standard kit lens and I had written down what I needed, and tried to tell me I was wrong and that I needed a different size which they did have in stock. I went home and ordered the Nikon branded one from Amazon, and -- shocker! -- it fits. A second time I came in, she stole a sale for an Instax camera from the photo lab employee who had helped me only minutes before, I just didn't know where the item was. Both of those experiences were enough to not want to go back. read more

Actually this place is pretty darn good. For professionals and Amateurs alike. They usually have a decent selection of used cameras, I bought my daughters first 35mm and the sales team is very knowledgeable. They are priced way high on the bags and accessories. All these you find way cheaper online. The good: They have very professional printing services and services like enlarging photos and with quality results of your final product. I have taken my negatives here and they always to a good job. They are a little too weird for hiring the nerds that work in the developing department but it's ok. I trust them with developing and processing. The only thing I don't like if you ask questions they look at you like why are you asking me this? and how come you don't already know that etc., hey every one else is not camera nerd take it easy.... read more

I've never had a great experience at this store and am finally realizing it's not WHO is serving me from behind the counter, rather it's the overall culture of customer service that bothers me. In a nutshell, they mansplain everything. All. The. Time. There's a cocky, arrogance to the way they treat customers (or maybe it's just women) that I've had enough of. Case in point: I just went in to ask about buying a new lens. As I explained (in less than technical terms) my current one is great for shooting interviews, but it lacks depth of field for wider, more focused shots. The guy behind the counter (and I'm being nice not sharing his name) looked at me with a cocky smirk and said, "You don't need a new lens. You need to learn how to use your camera." When he showed me how to "use my camera," I pointed out it still didn't correct the issue I was having, the shot isn't wide enough. "Oh- you need a new lens for that." Jesus H. He also went on to brag about how much HE makes for video shoots, because he knows how to use his equipment, I guess?? I would have complained but, sadly, this is what I experience 90% of the time I go in there. (Funny enough, I called a girlfriend when I left to complain about it and she said, "Yea, I never liked that place.") Let me assure you, the people most impressed with Precision Camera is...Precision Camera. read more

Called and spoke with Melissa to discuss purchase of a new Sony camera, lens, etc - my first time doing business with this store!! Melissa assisted me in all the details of my purchase. She was very knowledgeable, patient and thorough. Overall just a great experience. I would highly recommend Precision Camera and Melissa!! Oh, and something really important - NO SALES TAX. I can't wait to get the new Sony mirrorless camera - it has 61 MP - WOW! They had it in stock, and had all the accessories for it. Also, I wanted a camera bag for travel - nothing to big but that would hold the items I ordered. Melissa pulled the items and checked 2 camera bags to ensure fit - all while I was on hold - now how is that for customer service??? It's EPIC!!! read more

I ordered an unstretched canvas print during a promotion by Precision Camera in March 2019. When I first tried to login and make the order the code was not accepted by their system. Several days and many tries later, it finally did work with the promotion code. A week later I got an email (with a link to review here) saying my print was ready. When I arrived to pick it up, it could not be found for 10 minutes. Then they said your balance is $74. I displayed my email to the clerk saying that my order was confirmed when it was initially made, and it was paid in full. The print turned out very well, but it was trimmed to the edge of the image which I was not happy about. The online display during the order showed that it would have a white boundary. So be forewarned. read more

Precision Camera has been in Austin longer than I have. So long, in fact, that they were the UT-recommended store for photo equipment and film processing back when I was in photojournalism class, almost a couple of decades ago. Most of the employees have been shooting at least that long, and better yet, they've kept up with all manner of technological advances and can help you catch up and keep up, too. Their new larger location on Anderson Lane just takes everything up a notch. This is my go-to place to hit up for photography needs, and probably the place you'll end up frequenting, too. They carry most quality brands of cameras and accessories, and will help you determine what you need. This is in contrast to the big-box stores, which may be a tad cheaper, but don't offer any service or support. I bought my entire digital SLR outfit here, and have come in often with questions and further needs (lenses, cases, batteries, tripod, memory cards, some semblance of purchase restraint). They've been honest and haven't tried to up-sell or oversell me, and have patiently ushered me into and all around the digital camera age. They seem to be highly intuitive in figuring out a customer's needs, so this applies to you even if you're a point-and-shoot enthusiast. If you want to try something before you buy, they probably rent it, and they also offer used equipment. Watch for sales, because they happen periodically. There's a separate department (still) for printing your photos, involving a kiosk, yes, but also an employee who knows what he's doing and can answer your questions. They restore old photos and can help you put together stunning albums or wall prints on a number of materials, from canvas to metal. The photo quality is, as you'd imagine, excellent. **mini-update here: Due to my various experiences with the photo lab over the past year, I've deducted an overall rating star, and here's why: The photo lab has become far busier than it was previously, and they've hired some seemingly inexperienced employees. True, film processing isn't a currently popular technology, so maybe it's harder to find someone with film processing experience. But I've been frustrated on numerous occasions by the length of time it takes to turn around a project, the phone calls saying it's done and then arriving to find out that it isn't (more than once), missing or messed up prints from a roll of film, processing instructions not followed, people who can't answer basic questions, and finally, their abject unwillingness to rush a small slide conversion order (50 images) that I needed for a memorial service. I had the young woman double-check with "the guy in back," and the answer came back the same. So I let them know I found that unacceptable, especially for a long-time customer. I found another local photo lab who willingly took it on, and I switched my business to them. If you use the lab these days, don't be in a hurry and do check their work. I'm hoping they'll get these problems straightened out soon and stop acting like they're the only photo lab in town. They aren't. read more

I am NOT new to Austin: I first came here in 1972 and moved full time in 1978... so I have witnessed many camera retailers fail and leave. Precision Camera is consistently Professional, courteous and provides accurate and experienced Customer care. While there are reviews that prejudice this retailer because they are part of a larger chain, and are not "wholly local", I have been to the "local" and have been "wholly disappointed". So, in direct contrast to the "local", I will state that on every visit to Precision Camera without fail, I have been greeted on arrival and treated as a valued customer, inquiries made as to what I need (and often clarification of my perceived needs v. actual solution) and referred to the correct experienced employee when needed. Contrast this to my experiences at our current "local" and I will continue to shop at Precision. Thank y'all for supporting Austin!! read more

Thanks to the romantic idea of my Yelp King, Carl F, I took my Mom and Dad's wedding photo here to blow up life sized for a photo booth for their 50th anniversary party. It was the hit of the party and made some terrific memories that I will later put in a photo book as a gift to them. In fact, all the old folks at the party were jealous of the shindig that we (my sister, brother and I) threw down for Mom and Dad. I dare say they wished we were their kids! Back to Precision, it was a hard thing to do, to trust your folks' original wedding pic to anyone, but I could tell Juan would treat it and me right. Btw, Juan came recommended to me by Thresher's amateur photog friend Starfighter (childhood nickname....odd) but Juan had no idea who "Starfighter" was...awkward....Regardless, Juan was a straight shooter from the get-go. He told me what the limitations would be with the size and quality of the print and never once tried to sell me on the project. He let me decide and offered to just blow up Mom's head first to see if it would look good. After viewing that a few days later, I gave them the green light and they did a fantastic job! I not only got that great poster, but also the cd's they copied to as well as my Mom's blown up head shot and I was able to use a Groupon for $50 off! Now, I'm no Annie Ray, but we took great pix of them old folks at the party (of course I had props!). It was hard to get them fogeys to ham it up, but they couldn't resist once I put the fake staches on them and handed them handcuffs and a huge cigar! The whole thing was a success (much thanks to my hubby who built the backdrop). It was an event to remember and now will be inscribed forever with wacky photos! Thanks Carl F and thanks Juan and Precision Camera! You rocked the old folks party! read more

I haven't been here in a long while. Remembering those good old days when I was a youngster, the sales person was very nice, very helpful, intuitive and really "professional". While time goes by...Precision seems to change... The same guy always seems to be standing by the front door greeting customers. He shakes his head and smiles at us, yet doesn't say anything. ?!? Am I supposed to start the conversation? I thought to myself, "Do I need to take a number?" Do I just walk to the counter in front of me and ask for help? Do I just go get what I want then pay? Or, should I go to the other counter and ask for assistance? I try to make eye contact but everyone just seems to turn away. Since everybody seemed so busy (which they weren't), I grabbed Josh (he couldn't escape cuz he just checked out a customer). I told him allll I need is 4 (damn) filters! One for each lens and a circular filter (then I'll get outta your hair!). He was very helpful and saved me some money on the filter deal. Cool! The second time, I went back with hubby to get another battery, the same incident happened to us...We patiently waited for a sales person who was working at the computer on the counter. He saw us, but just kept minding his own business while we just stood there and waited. All and all, they've got everything you'll ever need/want for all your photographic needs, whether it's new, old or used cameras, lenses or equipment. I'm not even going to talk about all of the professional camera equipment they have in there. They also provide photo copying/printing services, and have lots of "How to" training resources from classes, to books and to videos. Anything you want to know about photography, they got it. One stop shopping for allll your photo needs, how bout that! Of course, I will definitely be back, since this is the only "professional" camera store in town. They have the best selection on all things "photography" anyway. (Even though I have to put up with SOME of the attitude here, hopefully that'll change) If it weren't for the professional advice they gave us "rookies", then, I'd rather go someplace else. Hubby disagrees though. It's not just me, is it? read more

People seem keen to hate on this place... but I've had nothing but great customer service here. I was interested in a certain brand of bag and camera strap and didn't think that a local store would have them in stock. I was pretty much resigned to having to order them off the internet and pay shipping for them, when a friend told me to go to Precision and buy them there. The prices online and the prices in the store was the same -- but, score!, no need to pay for shipping charges. So I went and I got to look at bags in person and choose what I thought was the one I wanted. When I couldn't find the BR strap I asked one of the guys working there and he found one in the back room for me. I liked that the folks here let me walk around and look at things (something I enjoy doing!) and only when I looked truly lost and made eye contact with a customer service person did someone come over to me. I hate being pestered when I first walk in the door. So I chatted with the guy and asked if I could hold a camera I've been wanting to buy but don't have the money for yet, and he let me touch it all I wanted, which sounds kind of dirty, but I was making jokes about how creepy I was about the whole thing and he and this other guy were like, "If that is creepy, then we are all weirdos here," which is nice because photo geeks know what it's like to stare longingly at gear and not be able to touch it -- right? Anyway, I bought my strap and my bag and left. I liked the strap but wasn't sure about the bag. After having it in my apartment for a week, I put my gear in it and realized that it just wasn't the right size. I brought it back for a refund and they did it for me, no questions asked, just boom. Complete and total refund. I realized later that night that I had left two little pieces of my gear in that bag. After swearing at my stupidity and negligence, I resigned myself that I may have lost a card and a remote for good. But I called the next day after Precision was open again, and someone found the bag, found my stuff, and put it aside for me to pick up whenever I could find the time. (!!!) I walked in, asked for my things, and got it back without a judgmental glance or a admonishing word about losing a card. The girl who helped me just smiled and asked me if I needed anything else, which I didn't. I don't know, I'm just so grateful that they are understanding humans who seem to be looking out for their customers. They have a wide range of products, even stuff I didn't think they'd have in stock. They have knowledgeable and friendly staff. They are photographers too, and they have my back. So yeah, I like these folks. read more

I come here a lot and the staff is fantastic! The store is nice, everyone is helpful and polite. BUT. Whoever runs this place GROSSLY underpays it's staff!! I suggested this place to my niece to apply to for work, and after looking at what they pay, I was APPALLED. These workers are so knowledgeable, professional, and kind. Always! But how do they afford to live??? These employees are so mistreated that it makes me physically sick. It's no wonder they can't keep employees. read more

Not retracting my previous five star review here, but I think a separate review for the lab/print department of the store is in order. I've had a couple experiences that have motivated me to turn elsewhere for high-end prints. Most recently I came in for a couple of large fine-art level prints and was hoping for some advice and hand-holding, as I'm an on/off again serious hobbyist but not a pro photographer, and going to spend over $150. My previous order was for a similar amount and I had gotten less-than-stellar results, which I blame on my understanding of certain technical issues, not their equipment or anything wrong with their processing. I was hoping to learn from my mistakes but that opportunity just wasn't available to me. Instead of having that opportunity to address my technical questions and concerns up front, the associate who served me steered me over to a self-serve kiosk, clearly to "train" me how to order prints without human intervention. It did not go well. The options I wanted to order could not be specified through the kiosk system, so I was told to select certain phony options that they'd then correct on the other end. A kiosk system might be great if I'm wanting super-basic photo lab services but it was an obnoxious complication and exercise in futility in my case. The rep was largely unable to answer my technical questions - one of the prints was to serve as a test for a much larger version I plan to print. In the end I cancelled the order because a $75 test print (in addition to another $75 print) felt like a real shot-in-the-dark without any support and useful information from the staff. There's good information on their website, but my questions and issues werent/aren't addressed there. I assume the lab does work for pro-level photographers - they offer some very high-end print options, and I have to wonder if they each had to guess and figure out technical issues on their own by trial-and-error, at considerable expense. I'm guessing that's not the case. Given how I was just escorted to a self-serve kiosk by an employee who wasn't very knowledgable, I felt my business was unwanted. And I felt locked out of some imaginary pro-level photographer's club that receives attentive service. I know that's probably mostly imagined on my part, but my estimation of, and loyalty to Precision Camera has taken a hit. read more

These guys are pretty good. They know what they're doing, they have a nice selection of goods and their prices are competitive. I used to come here a lot back when I was still shooting 35mm film cameras. My parents have some old but tough Pentax and Minolta cameras, but they needed some work done on them and new batteries. The people at Precision fixed the problems quickly and affordably, and we got new light meter batteries for pretty cheap. They work on both film and digital cameras, although they sell strictly DSLR's. They've got a nice selection of camera bodies and lenses, although most of them are kinda high-end prosumer/semi-professional quality models, so they'll run you a little extra. They've also got all kinds of camera bags and cases, from small single-body pouches to metal footlockers for large video cameras. Plus light curtains, photo quality paper, flash units, tripods, etc. etc. The next time I have an issue with a camera (knock on wood), or I'm considering buying something new, I'm definitely gonna check these guys out. read more

I want to do business local here in Austin. I actually live in Round Rock and come down to Precision to buy a few accessories every so often. But lately when looking at camera stock, the Fuji cameras and lenses I'm interested in purchasing all say "Special Order item". For instance, the top line X-T4 bodies only, and even the 16-80 kit is special order only. Same with X-Pro3 "special order". Lenses I'm wanting to purchase include the Fuji 33m F1.4 WR, 50mm F2 WR, and either are listed "special order" or not in stock. Even the mid-tier cameras, like Fuji X-T30 ii Silver Edition is "Special order". They need more selection in this store and need to keep at least one of each lense and body in-stock at any given time. This has made me go to online retailers, which don't have these items listed "special order", but actually have them in stock. I hate doing this, but I'm not going to wait to special order an item, when i can get it fast from online. I want to walk in the store, buy it, and walk out with the camera/lens. On another note, I was looking for film, for my dad's old Zeiss Ikon Contessa 35mm. The selection of film and price makes it almost unusable to use film cameras these days. I also need to get this camera checked out and serviced, but I need a camera repairman with experience that wont damage this intricate camera. I'm not sure if they have anyone there that has ever worked on a Zeiss Ikon Contessa. Most employees I see are younger than me. read more

I absolutely love Precision Camera. It's my go to for all my photographic needs. The entire staff is so knowledgeable and helpful. The photo lab though is what I trust the most! I always know I am going to get good service and fabulous prints. I get a good amount of framing done and Phillip does the best job. He's done frames for a variety of different items ranging from an actual flag (not a print!) to a collage of different size photos for me and everything in between! The frames are always gorgeous and are just what I asked for. He walks you through the process and shows you all the samples of the frames and mats so you know exactly what you're going to get. If anyone asks me for a recommendation on where to get framing projects done I always send them to Phillip at the Precision Camera photo lab. read more

Some of the scans they did had green coloring on skin so I wish they would have done a better job on those however they did turn around a job quickly (after being quoted a 2-3 week turnaround time to scan 72 photos). I've also asked for a receipt several times as I paid over the phone from out-of-state and they seem to be ignoring this valid request. Not the best communication! If I were in Austin walking up in person perhaps it would have been a different experience but would not recommend for remote jobs. read more

Gregg, I was angry with you for the attitude of your employee. To be honest, I'm not very impressed with your attitude either. I drove 40 minutes to buy from you and wanted the camera for a job the next day. I came to you because a company I'd done business with several times in the past was less than professional. So, I paid more out of pocket and drove 80 miles round trip to give you my business. You went on and on about how I should buy local because the out of state companies don't pay local taxes. Well, I DID buy local. And in the process of listening to you scold me for considering an out of state company I had to listen your condescending tone and listen to you use words like G*d D**n I DID buy local! And this is the thanks I get. I wonder what your boss would think if he heard our conversation? ;-) I'm not your child or someone that needs a scolding. I'm a [former] customer who traded with you and did so happily. You asked me why I would leave a negative review when I had so many other positive experiences. My question to you is, "if you value me as a customer and all of my past business then why did you treat me like you did in your store and on the phone?" Why would you allow a repeat customer walk out of your store unhappy? I wanted the best deal and Cole took it personal. Based on my conversation with you it sounds like you're rubbing off on your staff. He knew I was unhappy. Why am I leaving this review? Because you dropped the ball and treated me like less than a valued customer. In conclusion, you might say that I gave you a call to give you a chance to make it right and you failed. ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW Bait and Switch Cole! When you're in business you should be able to handle a customer (me) asking for the best deal. Especially when I could buy from an out of state company and avoid the sales tax ($50). Getting upset with your customers for wanting the best deal isn't a good business practice....imho. I've bought and sold several items over the last few years. I won't walk thru their doors again. The salesman Cole acted like I was stealing from him for asking him to match my other deal (not the sales tax part - I was willing to pay that). I asked him about another bag and he snapped at me, before letting me finish my question, and assumed I was wanting him to make it part of the deal. All I wanted was a larger bag and was willing to pay for it if I liked the bag and the price was in my budget. Never going back. Done! Let's not mislead the people Gregg. I didn't expect you to waive the state taxes. The reason I came to Precision Camera was because of the discourteous behavior from the company in New York and because I needed the camera immediately. So, you're implication that I was not willing to pay taxes is disingenuous to say the least. My driving to Austin to trade with you blows that argument out of the water. I told Cole on the phone that I was getting a few extras from the company in New York. I was getting the lense, a 128 gig card, 2 batteries, a bag (a cheapie) and I was paying X amount. Cole told me he'd throw in a bag and a 32 gig card but he couldn't match the deal in New York. I told you and we agreed that they had more room in the deal because I didn't have to pay sales tax. I let you guys keep the bag because I have several and the card would not work for my purposes. Based on what I told Cole on the phone and the camera I was buying makes that a "bait and switch" tactic. To be clear. I drove all the way to Austin and got less than what I was offered by the other company and my reward for my loyalty was poor treatment, listening to you brag about how you donated to charities and then use an abusive tone and language. I should've stayed at home and ordered from the company in New York. I would've gotten more for my money and I wouldn't have had to drive 80 miles round trip to be treated like crap. If you're considering Precision Camera in Austin.... Do yourself a favor and DON'T! read more

Also pretty lame of them to not even respond to my 2-star review last year. I won't be going back!

Although I have been a fan and customer for many years, I continue to be blown away with the personal service I receive. The folks (especially Tamra Green) are always helpful in finding me just what I need to purchase being mindful of costs always......but now I have been astounded by the repair department. I can't say enough about Kat and Frank and how they saved my day (as well as my 2 cameras) by fulling reviving my Fujis which were covered in mud due to a fall along Bull Creek. The 2 cameras which looked pitiful when I brought them in were returned to me looking better than new. I am a loyal customer FOREVER! read more

I have been buying photography equipment from them for over 10 years. Most of the time their prices are competitive but their service is exceptional. There are plenty of pros working at this shop! read more

I started shopping online. I chatted with an associate who was very helpful and informed me that the items I selected were compatible and in stock. He then told me that he could hold the items for me for 48 hours. I called the store, it took a minute or two for the phone to be answered, I assumed they were busy. The young lady who answered the call was friendly, polite and courteous. I then spoke to a male associate who was able to check that my items were still on hold as the 48 hours had just expired. He was very friendly. When I got to the store they were not too busy, I got attention right away. The young mans that helped me was very friendly and informative. He recommended a couple of items that would be be a better fit for the camera I was picking up. Very pleased with the whole experience. I would definitely shop here again! read more

I wanted to do business locally and support our local camera store(s). My beef is with the owner. Poorest ownership I've ever experienced. The fish rots from the head and while there are some good employees, the owner seems to have no clue about customer service or business relations in Austin. Precision is right by my house. Robert in Sales was great, in fact I bought a personal camera from him, but we are setting up a video studio at work to record videos for partner enablement. My finance manager asked me to get NET-30 terms (a house account) so I figured, "Why not?" I tried to put my finance manager in touch with Precision's accountant. No replies for a week. When we finally got all the paperwork done, no peeps for nearly another week (waiting on owner approval). This after a couple of weeks of run arounds and excuses (we were moving offices, never got the messages, our phones were messed up) from the back of the house. After nearly a month of poor customer service from everybody except Sales, we (a multi million$ software company with $150M in VC backing) were turned down for a house account. You would think if they don't do house accounts, they would let Sales know so customers time isn't wasted and customers aren't embarrassed. No reason given, just "no more house account approvals." Why even have the forms? This is very poor business IMHO. Made us go through all that mess and wasted time only to have a policy (seemingly a whim of the owner) that no one knew about. I asked Sales to express my displeasure with his poor communication to employees. read more

Got my film developed here- took 3 weeks to get it back. A bit disappointed in that but at $14 to develop my 34 photos I'd consider that a pretty good deal. Good place if turnaround time is not a concern. One of my negatives didn't get scanned and when I brought the concern up they cleared it up quick! read more
