They also dealt with me opening some blind box charmeras with as much excitement as me, so I love them downnnnnnnnn!! I might be getting lucky with the two positive visits thus far, but I did try another film camera store recently and felt uncomfortable the entire time unfortunately AND they overpriced the same charmeras so I will be sticking with them from now for sure for sure.

Because of that, we didn't end up purchasing anything during this visit. That said, the trip was still very helpful--we got a much better understanding of what features to look for and what would work best for capturing videos and making memories. We were 99% certain we knew what the problem was with my lens when we brought it to Sorin, the sole…read moreproprietor at Eurotech. I'd done ample research and my lens was behaving exactly as others' have. There were even online videos with the same reproducible symptoms, and a specific part needed to be replaced. So I figured I could get my repair done at Eurotech, as Sorin has worked on many lenses previously. He told me there'd be no charge if he didn't repair the lens. The shop is very old-school in how it's run; there are claim checks, no website to check on your gear, and you must call him during business hours to determine the status of your repair. His phone mailbox is perpetually full. Eurotech is located in a small office within a building with other small businesses. The office is cluttered with all manner of camera parts and intact cameras, and there are few clean flat surfaces in the place. I was a bit edgy about leaving my camera and lens there, but the reviews and articles on Sorin gave me confidence. He asked me to call several business days after I left my equipment. When I called, he told me the lens was very clean inside. Evidently he was thinking that dirt infiltration might have been the problem with my lens vs it needing a part replaced. He continued to go down that path, apparently unwilling or unable to get the part. My lens was reassembled and I picked it up in the same condition as I'd left it. While Sorin was pleasant and making jokes when we originally dropped my lens and camera off, he was not very friendly when we picked it up. I'm leaving the review at 3 stars because I got my camera and lens back and there was no charge (although I missed my camera and lens for the 10 days or so they were in the shop). I do think it's nice that Sorin didn't charge for his time, of course.

I paid over $500 for an expedited passport service and still missed my international flight. My…read moreappointment was on January 17, and I was told I would have my passport by Saturday. I did not receive it until January 27, which was too late to travel and required me to pay $611 to rebook my flight. My passport was routed to a P.O. box inside a third-party UPS Store that was closed for multiple consecutive days. There was no voicemail, no online notice, and no response to repeated calls, making my passport completely inaccessible despite being a time-sensitive federal document. A paper sign on a locked door is not adequate notice when access to critical documents is at stake. The business avoids acknowledging that many secure third-party mailbox facilities provide after-hours key access, and that the specific location THEY chose does not. Routing a passport to a location without key access, no contingency plan, and no communication places all of the risk on the customer. After I posted a review, the owner began calling and texting me asking that I remove it, rather than addressing the access failure or the financial loss. I chose this service instead of driving to Houston, and that decision is on me. Still, it is reasonable to warn others so they can make an informed choice. If you truly need your passport by a specific date, go directly to a federal passport agency. I was told I'd get it Saturday and that's why I paid the $500 in fact when I had my appointment I hadn't even booked my flight and only bought it after I was reassured I'd have it Saturday.
