We went in expecting to enjoy a popular establishment. There was no host or hostess at the door but there was a spot the bar, so my wife and I sat at the bar. But we were never acknowledged. Not even asked if we wanted to order a drink. It appears that you must be a neighborhood regular to be considered fit for even the most minimal levels of service. I have a high tolerance for service lapses at a restaurant but I have zero tolerance for lack of even token acknowledgement of my/our presence in the building. After being completely ignored, we left and went to Connor's down the street and had a wonderful meal and we were seated, waited on and fed with minimal fuss. We've been to Potters Field a couple of times now. The waitress is very attentive, the bartender keeps an eye on your drinks as well, and the food is solidly good. Our checks have been about $33 each time for 2 people, appetizer, entree and drinks. They offer some very unique sauces for their wings (non-breaded, a little on the smaller side, but good quality). Besides Hot, Medium and Mild, they offer South Buffalo Style (don't order these - they are breaded and low meat quality wings), honey mustard, charbroiled, mango red pepper BBQ, and chipolte BBQ. They also offer a less adventurous Kentucky BBQ which I ordered and enjoyed - just a hint of heat. They also let us split a single order of wings in 2 flavors, which was nice and not an option at most places we've been to. Their regular menu includes French Onion Soup and Stuffed Banana Pepper Soup (not spicy at all, but very tasty). They also have 3 (!!!) "soups of the day" that change regularly. With this many soups, it's awesome that they offer a 3-Soup Sampler for $4.99 as an appetizer. That alone would be worth coming to try! We've had burgers and steaks here. Every time they have been overcooked by one level, but they taste so good it doesn't matter. We did let the kitchen know that he's off by about 10 seconds, but otherwise next time we'll see if there's improvement or just start ordering things medium rare. lol That kitchen has a char broiler back there and they aren't afraid to use it! the burgers are delicious and totally worth the $8.99. Our burgers came with fresh cut fries. They were YUM. :-) My dinner companion opted for sweet potato fries ($1 upcharge) which came in waffle cut and were topped with a honey butter concoction of goodness. You also have the option of upgrading to tater tots, but we will save that for another time. The waitress said that the tater tots are the chef's specialty, so that's definitely a must try for next time. Ask about the daily specials! From 11am-3pm Monday-Friday, everything on their menu is $6.99 (excludes double wings and soup). It's delicious. I will be returning. read more

Came here for the first time for Restaurant Week with my husband. When I am looking for restaurants to try during restaurant week, I look for places that I have never been to. The parking lot was very tiny, and cars were lined the side street. We parked about a half mile down the street. We walked in, and it was LOUD. It was more of a bar scene than restaurant scene. We had no idea where to go/sit. There was no hostess. You would think if they were hosting restaurant week specials, they would be expecting newbies and have some organization. Luckily my husband and I found a little table in the corner. We had to ask the bartender how we order for restaurant week. She acted annoyed and said she would send a waitress over to take our order. The waitress was not pleasant. She didn't introduce herself or smile the entire time. She also didn't even check on us to see if we needed anything. It was honestly very annoying and ruined our dining experience there. A different waitress came over and cleared my plate before I was even finished. They were trying to rush us out. Ordered a chicken finger wrap- it was so drenched in hot sauce that it was dripping all over the place from the bottom - gross. Will not be back. read more

Stopped in after the Bills game. Although past visits have kept the noise level at a dull roar, this bar seems to bring in quite the crowd for the games, making it difficult to chat with your crew or even the waitress. Nevertheless we enjoyed wings, myself sticking true to my new favorite, Garlic Parmesan. The wings were decent, not the best, not the worst. Additionally the table shared a basket of fresh cut fries. A basket was plenty to pass around, so be aware of this when ordering for yourself. Friendly staff, but the Guinness was warm. Nice view of the golf course. I've been here multiple times for the food, and it's consistently good, especially the wings. The inside decor is Irish and local tavern style; however, as with most places that have a jukebox, the mood can quickly be ruined by too much bad music. read more

Surprisingly interesting menu for a place that appears to be more of a corner tavern than a dining destination. Four of us enjoyed our lunches, but as other reviews have said, it really is noisy. There was a large group of guys taking up a big table and conversing loudly, with nowhere to sit to avoid the noise. So definitely not a good place to have pleasant conversation over your meal. We had a hard time of it in that regard. The solo server was taking care of the bar as well as all the tables. The place wasn't full, but she had enough to keep her hopping and did a good job of it. My wife & I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. For starters, she had the clam chowder and I had the spicy white bean soup...both were outstanding. We both had the prime rib sandwich; nice portions of beef with a spicy stuffed banana pepper on a toasted roll. Absolutely delicious!!! Our server was very friendly and the food came out really quickly. Prices were fine, and the atmosphere is 100% South Buffalo; laid back, casual, and friendly. Went out to eat and tried a neighborhood place. No greeting at the door we had to fend for ourselves. We took a table and a nice waitress came over and took our order. The place was nothing fancy and a little loud for my taste but the service was fine and the food was incredible. The french onion soup was made with real beef broth not bullion and will definitely be a staple for me on the many visits I plan on. My burger was made to perfection per my order and was delicious. Due to the virus we had to do curbside pickup...the girl taking the order was very friendly, courteous and did a get job (just 20 mins off on the pick up time-but she did apologize when I picked up the order). We ordered fingers, onion rings, and wings. All the food was homemade including the fries, made to our specifications and was very delicious! We haven't been here in years, had cabin fever and were looking for a change. I'm glad that we chose them and we will definitely be back probably before and after the quarantine is lifted. This place was recommended to me for their reasonably priced and very large burgers, so I checked it out one day. I have been there enough now that I have my 'usual', which is the lobster mac n cheese- which is to DIE for! I get it so much that when I go, I come in, get a soda and my order of mac n cheese, and go to town. My second favorite items are the pretzel bites with cheese, or the fries, South Buffalo style (with hot sauce). My friend, who usually comes with me, swears by the Potter's Burger- the one with a giant stuffed banana pepper on it. My favorite time to go is the summertime, where they have a large patio out back, with a big wooden privacy fence They have hanging flowers all throughout the whole patio, and have nice lighting, too. It's usually quiet back there and fairly private, so I always sit out back. Inside, it tends to get way too loud, with people shouting at a game, or just being a bit too rowdy, so I usually go only in the spring/summer/fall, when I can eat outside. The bathroom is my only gripe- it's freezing cold in there! Otherwise when I want to go out, and stay in my neighborhood, and want some comfort food, I head here and order my usual. read more

We came here for my brother's birthday as he wanted to go to an Irish pub. This doesn't really have an Irish pub vibe but okay. The inside is kind of small, not many places to sit. We got beers with our meal and my brother and had to show ID- we're both in our 30s and definitely don't look under 21. It's VERY loud- the patrons are pretty rowdy. There was baseball playoffs on so that may be why. Food was okay. We got Irish potato skins that were flavorful and cooked perfectly. My mother and I got sandwiches- her chicken was overcooked and dry and my turkey was dry as well. Fries were good. My brother liked his burger. My dad had beef on Weck and managed to get the last prime rib they had which he said was great. Overall place is okay. I would possibly try another menu item but wouldn't come here during any sporting event- too loud to have a conversation. read more

Went there for the second day this week and both times the service and food was awesome! The wings are particularly good. I swayed from what I usually have at a bar by ordering flank steak and it was great, cooked to taste and served with sides of asparagus, scalloped potatoes and onion rings. My wife had the lobster Mac and a cheese for the second one in a row and found to be consistent and delicious. One reason and one reason only for the 3 stars instead of the 2 and that is because they have a super modern, high tech, juke box that has tons of awesome song options and that made all the difference on this night. Outdoor seating here is a definite plus, the inside is a bit old, seats around the perimeter of the restaurant and a rectangular shaped bar in the center. For whatever reason, on Memorial Day weekend, a Sunday night, they only had one bartender staffed. This blew my mind as it took forever to get a beer and even longer to close out our tabs at the end of the night. At one point, we had to recruit people to try and close our tab. We strategized and put people at different areas of the bar, hoping one of us would be able to get the bartenders attention to close the tab. We were desperate and just wanted to leave. To the bartenders defense, he was nice and was doing the best that he could, the place was just rockin' and he had no help. You'll find standard domestic beer selections here, haven't tried the food but probably won't come back as it is a bit out of the way for me. Their bathrooms were really clean which was a nice plus. The juke box was playing mostly 70's classic hits, which I absolutely loved. This seems like your neighborhood bar, where people from South Buffalo come to meet up with old friends from high school when they are back in town. Very casual, very laid back, would have been a heck of a lot better if they had additional staff however, because we spent the majority of our time here standing at the bar trying to be served or trying to leave. I took my out of town guests there for a mid evening snack. One food choice was a tenderloin. When it arrived the foul odor of the meat was overpowering and we had to send it back. Our waitress was irritated! 2 nights later my kids returned with their friends at 11:30 pm and the bartender said he was closing and going to Doc Sullivan's. We've tried Potters Field a few times...both takeout and dine in. There are a lot of unique things on the menu, so it is definitely a good change of pace from the bar food you usually find in similar establishments. Most recently I tried the reuben bites...pretty tasty, actually...But i'd hate to see what they look like as they are being made lol... They even have a few salad selections..from which i ordered one with pear, bleu cheese, chicken, walnuts, and vidalia dressing...no complaints! We've also tried the banana pepper soup, tater tots, french onion soup, lobster mac n cheese, burgers, roast beef, stuffed pepper dip, loganberry wings...and i may be drawing a blank on a few other things. pretty satisfied with all choices; however, i do agree with past reviewers that some of the items seem slightly over priced. We have gone there for sit down service twice, and each time the waitress seemed flustered and not used to serving several tables at once. It wasn't too much of an issue for our group, as we were busy chatting it up anyway. No doubt, we will return..given the proximity to our new house and the casual atmosphere. The beer and wine was cheap, but there were virtually no non-meat options on the menu. We went there because my husband thought their ribs were the best he ever had. We get there on a Sunday night about 7pm to find out they no longer serve the ribs since they "downsized" their menu. Ok so we persevere and he decides on a cheeseburger with fries.($10) The waitress was VERY accommodating my husbands request hot sauce, gravy for the fries etc.The burger was cooked as specified and he was fairly happy despite having his heart set on ribs. I ordered the stuffed pepper dip and was a little disappointed, there was no flavor it tasted just like diced chicken with cream cheese and some other cheeses mixed in. I ordered the 10 oz ribeye steak medium ($17) the steak arrived and was cooked as specified but it was the WORST cut of rib eye I ever had! Out of the 10 oz 5 oz were fat. It tasted more of charcoal than steak. I was very disappointed since we have dined there before and the food has been spectacular. All I wanted was a good steak and my husband wanted ribs and we left not getting either. read more

Used to be a huge fan of this bar, but the food has gone down hill and the service leaves something to be desired. Stopped by this afternoon for some happy hour drinks with my cousin and the bartender was miserable and rude. My cousin ordered a drink and had her card out on the bar with the intention of buying me a drink for my birthday. When the bartender saw my cousin's card she stopped and said, "No, I can't take that, it has to be a $20 minimum, the owner has been getting all kinds of fees because of people using their cards." My cousin and I were a little caught off guard, but tried to explain that we were sure we'd be able to meet the minimum and as I was about to order my drink the bartender walked away. She didn't come back around to us for about 20 or so minutes and that was only because I called her over to tell her we'd like our check. Pretty atrocious. read more

The worst food I have ever had! My burger was literally a lump of char! i bit into it, there had mini lumps of char! Where was the damn burger! My husbands Irish blt the bread was burnt! I asked him how his dinner was he said crappy! The pizza logs we so crispy and crunchy I am surprised at the end of this I still have teeth left. I didnt finish the lump of apparent burger and didnt even have more than one of the soggy fries. Thank goodness my husband stopped to try something new at Burger King if he didnt I would have gone hungry tonight. I am never ever going to eat anything from this place ever again. We live right in the neighborhood so we go there often....excellent food, excellent service...their kids' menu is cheap and they provide an ice cream sundae at the end of the meal. The only issue I ever had was sometimes their beer out of the tap isn't as cold as I'd like it to be....that won't keep me from coming back though...I have also told my friends to pay a visit as they won't be disappointed. read more
