Well, goodness me -- this place is just lusciously delicious! First off -- fun atmosphere, with a…read morecozy fireplace, original decor (including oyster shell chandeliers!) and clever signage. Jeremy was our server, and was friendly, knowledgeable, and handled my gluten allergy without batting an eye. The food? Our selections were off the chain. We started with the deviled eggs - extremely creamy; a little kick; topped with a crisp cornichon. We had 4 different varieties of oysters -- all perfectly chilled and served with both cocktail and a green sauce mignonette, with plenty of lemon. Now for the showstoppers -- I had the N'awklins shrimp and grits. Oh my! The shrimp were nestled on top of the silky cheddar grits, and blackened - seasoned beautifully and cooked just right - not mushy or chewy. But the star? The broth! Tomato based, the depth of flavor was unexpected, and so good, I could have eaten a bowl of just that. My husband had Cioppino, which I could not taste due to GF. His description -- the broth was rich and thick -- not like a typical cioppino broth. It was was chock full of seafood -- very hearty -- with mussels; shrimp; calamari; clams, and just a touch of heat. The bread was also a standout -- baked to order, and then charred. You may want an extra piece of bread, he wants me to tell you! Really -- go to Salty Mary's, ask for Jeremy, and stuff yourself silly. You won't regret it.

The $3.50 oysters were okay, though not especially fresh and poorly shucked (shell fragments left in the liquor). Most dishes were heavy on Cajun seasoning, which overwhelmed the seafood rather than complementing it.

This place always seems to be busy…read more I got an ahi tuna salad ($18.99), which was filling and tasty. The vegetables and slices of tuna were fresh, and the crispy wonton pieces added a nice crunch. I think they went a little overboard with the vinaigrette, but I still happily munched on the salad. I also ordered a sparkling black cherry refresher, which was essentially Topo Chico with black cherry flavor. Refreshing and pleasant enough to drink, but overpriced in my opinion at $6.49, especially since it didn't come with any actual cherries. My server was fantastic. She checked up on me a couple of times and was very friendly.

There is something here for everyone and everything is delicious. We tried the poke nachos which had the perfect balanced flavor and was really good. For our meal we tried the Szechuan Beef Noodles which was nice and spicy with crispy beef which tasted like heaven. We also tried the lobster garlic noodles which were outstanding. I really enjoyed Yard House and I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu.

Service is quick, evenly spaced out appetite and entrees which is nice without being rushed. Having a reservation on a Saturday night is must. We came in ad s party of 4, thankfully we had reservations, the place was packed, the bar and restaurant were full. Once sat, our sever went over the cocktails and beer list, taking appetizer and shareable orders. Once the appetizers came out we put in for entrees and then dessert. Starting with the ceviche, incredible flavor with the tight touch of heat and citrus balance, almost made me wish I ordered 2 so I could have it as my entree as well. The chickpeas were perfectly seasoned with great texture. For our entrees we opted for the paperdale, house made, banh mi pork sandwich, a burger and the scallops. Everything was cooked perfectly, albeit the scallops were not so satisfying the mix of flavors were off for me, maybe it was the mushroom. We also had the white chocolate Jerry bread pudding, the perfect end to a meal, I'm a sucker for bread pudding.

It's the kind of place that works for a night out with the girls or a corporate dinner, and I love a spot that can do both. I truly enjoyed my pasta dish. I'm not even usually into mushrooms, but I definitely was here. The only downside was that the service felt a little slow. It wasn't a particularly busy night, so the pace was a bit surprising. Overall, though, it was a solid experience.
