    Shrimp & grits
    Kimberly R.

Cute little place w/great, healthyish food!! I had the shrimp & grits, which were creamy w/lots of shrimp and peppers, a lavender tea w/honey, and I bought seamoss. My daughter had a turkey sausage and egg croissant sandwich and a caramel macchiato. We also got fiber & ginger shots. All for just over $50 bucks!!!! The staff was patient and kind. I will be back!!

I visited on May 1st, 2023 to pick up a smoothie courtesy of Yelp (complimentary) and while there, I decided to also order a breakfast sandwich. FOOD -- Their menu is extensive with plenty to choose from. They have alot of different sandwiches which can also be made into a salad. I ordered a breakfast sandwich ($12), specifically, the 'The Six Fo' sandwich. It consists of turkey sausage, two scrambled eggs, tomatoes, and I got mine without mayo and without cheese. The breakfast sandwich was tasty and a good amount so it left me full. It's a great protein option to start off your day. I wish the bread was more toasted and the eggs had more flavour. Actually some salt and pepper would have done the trick. The sausage and eggs needed more flavour such as hot sauce but I added ketchup when I arrived back home. SMOOTHIES -- There are many smoothies to choose from and I love that non-dairy milk is available. I choose the B Green Smoothie which includes Kale, Spinach, Peanut Butter, Banana, milk (I got non-dairy (Almond) milk) and frozen yogurt (I got non-dairy yogurt). The smoothie is very thick and rich. It is perfect for a post-workout fuel. It is definitely heavy on the peanut butter but I love the taste of peanut butter. SERVICE -- I was greeted when I walked in by the owner Kayla who was really friendly. She answered my questions about her business which opened in late 2020. AMBIANCE -- I love their cute pink selfie wall with KAFELA written on the wall. It is a small cafe so I imagine that most people take their order to go but I noticed a few tables and chairs towards the back. I'll most likely be back to try a different smoothie because I loved the one I had this morning. Their shrimp and grits, as pointed out to me by the owner Kayla looks delicious too. **** - 51/150 total reviews in 2023 - 602 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 1 May 2023

It was my first time at this establishment. I was greeted warmly upon entry. I love how colorful and inviting this place is. I was pleasantly surprised by the diverse menu. I chose the LA Sunshine smoothie. I can't wait to return and try some food items. They have food specials and a nice variety of smoothies, tea and other drinks. There is a cozy seating area with a couple games to play. I recommend this hidden gem!

Kafela Taco Tuesday Specials price point at $3.00 each is pocket friendly. I decided to try one of each taco offered chicken, shrimp and salmon. I would have placed an online order, except the menu did not clearly state what is on the taco. Therefore, a very short drive to look at the menu and placed my order. Service was speedy and efficient, which explains why all the food was served cold, even the fries. I was surprised, because this is unlike what I expected, especially since I have patronized this establishment before and received exceptional, freshly prepared food. I will definitely be back, probably during the lunch hour. I'm sure it was a fluke. By the way, congratulations on your 4 year anniversary Kafela!

Kafela is a St. Clair-Superior neighborhood gem! This breakfast and lunch cafe gives off such a positive vibe from the moment you walk in. I was greeted not only by a friendly face at the counter, but also many large green plants and sunlight filling the space. All of the menu items are named after locations and nods to sunny Los Angles. I got the Berry Much L.A. smoothie which was delish. I also got the Lavender Love Spell drink, which was lemonade with a lavendar butterfly tea that sparkled! For my meal, I got the chicken ceasar wrap with a side of sweet potato fries. The wrap was good. Classic caesar, although the chicken was well seasoned and I liked that the wrap was partially toasted. The sweet potato fries were delicious. When I inquired about the seasoning on the fries, I was told that they made their own sunshine blend to sprinkle on top. I couldn't place the flavors, but it was amazing! The star of my meal was the deep fried oreos. I wanted to leave with something sweet and these oreos did not disappoint! They had a chocolate drizzle and powdered sugar on top and came with a scoop of vegan vanilla ice cream. Fried oreos are usually only good when they're hot, I ate these cold all throughout the day and enjoyed every bite. The best part of Kafela is seeing how much of a gathering space it's become for people in the neighborhood. There were so many members of the community coming in throughout the time I was there to pick up a smoothie, order lunch, or just say hello and chat with the owner or other patrons. It truly felt like a place you could call home and I loved that.

Great spot for counter service lunch or to-go. The spot's brand is LA vibes and you definitely feel it from the moment you walk through the door. From the decor and art on the walls to the soft beats playing throughout the spot. I ordered the Kafe overload, chicken nachos, from the specials menu along with salmon tacos. Both came fully loaned with plenty of meat, veggies and seasoning.

A+ Buffalo chicken wrap and fries! Really cool bright and colorful space with good music playing and a great menu selection. I can't wait to go back and try new items. The salmon Philly wrap is calling my name!

    Ur Favorite Chicken Sandwich

This is arguably the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Kafela definitely has the look and feel of a cafe with the artsy aesthetic to match. 10/10 service and food.

While in Cleveland for a change of scenery, I looked for a Black-owned cafe and Kaféla popped up. Had a seat for a bite. Avocado toast looked meh but tasted wow. They didn't try to get fancy, but it was full of flavor. Had the garlic tater tots. My inner child enjoyed all of them. Where I really got happy was with the rasta pasta with shrimp. That was not an attempt. It was the real deal. Had great conversation with the woman behind the counter. It was a nice touch walking into an establishment and not feeling like your dollars weren't wanted. Kafèla will be on my list for whenever I go back to Cleveland to visit. They will get my dollars.

I had the food on today me and my oldest son and it was extremely tasty the BLT with beef bacon instead of pork I enjoyed. It may just be one of my favorite spots to get away from home and relax my mind. The setting is so peaceful and elegantly beautiful to me. I love clean healthy environments when food is being serve and for me this is that place. Owner was a very kind nature young woman who offered such a beautiful sunshine character. We all were definitely pleased with our food. And we all will be back and told other people too.

    Ur Favorite Chicken Sandwich

Ordered the ur way sandwich as a wrap definitely small and not worth $14. I placed my order at 11:55a was told 10-13 mins top. Did not get my food till 12:37p. Smoothie did not look like the photos but was tasty. Not sure I'll be back .

I have possibly spent the last two months at KafeLa! It feels like HOME. When I moved to Cleveland I was looking for a great atmosphere I can eat and get work done. The owner Kayla makes you feel like part of the family it truly is a place where everyone knows your name. I have even had the pleasure to work with them on two projects. This place has great coffee, breakfast, and dinner. It really is your one stop shop !! Do yourself a favor and go and you may catch me there :)

It was topped with a thin layer of rhubarb jam that brought a nice tartness along with a dollop of sorghum butter and whipped cream, and served with Ohio maple syrup on the side. We shared the loco moski, paprikash sandwich, and a side of bacon wrapped tots (good option if you just want 2 and not the full appetizer). While the bacon wrapped tots are famous from Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, I actually liked the loco moski and paprikash sandwich more. The loco moski is a fun combination between a loco moco but with pierogi, and I like that the peppered gravy wasn't too rich. The paprikash sandwich was also a great combo of chicken, sausage, peppers, cheese, paprikash, on lightly crispy bread. Parking available as free street parking--though you may have to circle to find parking since it's near the Christmas House. Staff were nice and efficient. I wanted to try the pierogi and the Polish boy and the KRAUT and having an extensive beer menu doesn't hurt either. Friendly neighborhood watering hole literally on the corner and basically across the street from the a Christmas story house allowing you to eat within eye sight of the leg lamp. I wanted basically everything from the menu that came vegan (spoiler alert there are tons and tons of things) but gastric space comes at a premium on vacation so we settled on the fried cheese. I was very excited to see the Polish boy (and vegan option no less) I didn't have much of a choice. GF ordered the vegan pierogi platter with vegan kielbasa on a bed of kraut. Firstly the fried cheese was head and shoulders above any mozz sticks or anything of the sort that I have had in memory. The breading is seasoned and crispy and heaven on earth. The cheese is PIPING. Like you will burn yourself if you, like me, have no patience. The accompanying tomato sauce is also steaming. So good. The Polish boy was also in a league of its own. Love that they have a vegan version. What a combo. Probably one of Cleveland's most important community contributions. We ordered the latkes to go and they were orgasmic. What a special place.

We were totally fine with that, went and grabbed a coffee from a local shop, and then returned to the restaurant. Food was great and the server was so kind! The reason for the 3-star review is because the hostess was very rude. She completely shattered an easy 5-star review. We had nine people in the family, and one was golfing. We intended to put in a takeout order for him but due to the 45-minute wait, he ended up finishing before we were even seated. We invited him to come along and then we were called to be sat. We ordered his meal for him prior to him arriving and this was still a major problem for the hostess. She basically threatened to move us back outside and told us we were "holding the table" even though we would have never done that. Instead of giving me the opportunity to explain to her we would have done takeout anyways had he not arrived(but he did because again, it was a 45 minute wait), she just continued to talk over me. It made all of us very uncomfortable and the first 10 minutes we felt very on edge and unwelcomed. She then did the same thing to our ninth person when they walked in the restaurant 5 minutes after. He had no idea what had already occurred and was also caught off guard. Most of us worked in this industry in the past, and we thought we were doing the right thing by letting her know. Thank you to everyone else who helped soften our experience. It was very appreciated. Every person who brought a dish to our table was extremely kind. We all had something different on the menu and there were no complaints!

It was seemingly cooked in the paper that it was served in so the top of the bread pieces were crunchy, the middle was softer and then everything else was completely stuck to the paper. It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted.
