I don't like to give negative reviews, but I'm not a fan of this postal annex. There have been a few times in the past where I've come to drop off between 5:30 to 6 PM, and the store is already shut down for the day. Today I came to do a drop off and ask a question about passport photos and renewals. I chose not to drop off my package here because despite it had a prepaid label, the owner wanted to charge me because it had a USPS (United States Postal Service) label on it. Before I could ask my passport question the worker immediately walked away to help someone else, disregarding my question. I had to go here to get a item shipped in a Federal Express Envelope with a check inside this Federal Express Envelope I requested to have this check send next day overnight shipping it was on a Thursday and I went to this Postal Annext Store location, I requested to have this Check shipped out through this one day overnight Federal Express Method, so this person I was mailing this check out to he would receive it by the next day which would be on Friday in the afternoon at 4 p.m. There are two women who work at this Postal Annex Store. One is younger and she is okay with her customer service skills to me and this other woman who is a much older person but she isn't very friendly and she doesn't smile at all. She has a vey serious look on her face when I walked inside this Postal Annex Store. I asked this younger woman employee, how much will she charge me to have a check shipped out by one day overnight in a Federal Express Envelope? This younger woman employee told me that Postal Annex charges $106.40. I was in ALOT OF SHOCK to hear this Postal Annex Store overcharges people just to ship a check out for this one day overnight through this Federal Express Shipping Method. I had to get his check shipped out as soon as possible and I told this woman employee that I want a Tracking Number so I can track this Federal Express Envelope to see if it arrives on time the next day to this person's address. This younger woman employee told me yes she will give me a Receipt with a Federal Express Tracking Number which is listed on this Receipt she will give to me after I pay the $106.40 for this Federal Express Shipping for the One Day Overnight Method. I really didn't want to pay this overcharged amount, but I arrived at my Oceanside Post Office location at 5 p.m. and my local Oceanside Post Office was closed. This younger woman's customer service skills was okay she was polite to me but was not overly friendly to me that day. I am giving my review on this Postal Annex location a (2 star review) IT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. because I felt like I was being overcharged for me just asking to send one check to be delivered to one person through the Federal Express Overnight Delivery Method. The $106.40 is too much for me to pay just to ship out one check to someone's home address. The Oceanside Post Office who I spoke to his name is James a postal worker and I asked him how much will he charge me to request to have a check shipped out through the USPS United States Postal Service and James this employee told me it is only $12.60. I was in SHOCK AGAIN, LOL. Because this charge was a much lower amount than the $106.40 this Postal Annex Store overcharged me that date. I will not be doing any more business with this Postal Annex Store again. I have only gone there at that same location once. I asked James who works for the Oceanside Post Office, Why does this Oceanside Postal Annex Store overcharge me? James said that Postal Annex Store overcharged me because I am paying the partial rent of that office space. James said that's the reason these Postal Annex employees overcharges their customers (extra fees) when shipping out packages through the UPS Method and the Federal Express Method. I learned something new and I didn't like what I heard. From now on, I will be going to my local Oceanside Post Office because their fees are much cheaper and are more affordable for me. read more

They were also very friendly, as soon as I walked in the store I had a Greetings from one of the staff. Everyone (staff)look very happy at their jobs. All smiles I see! Just moved to the area and have been used to dropping off UPS packages but when I did so and asked for a receipt, I was told that they never do that. What makes this location different than what others do? Then today I call before going there to see if they would take USPS packages and the staff person says yes - no pick up today because of Columbus Day but if I dropped off my packages they would be picked up tomorrow. I thought great and went to the location and after waiting in line was asked if I had a drop off and said yes. The staff person said, we can take them but we charge $1 per package. I said that I had called ahead and no one said the same. She said unless you have a Post Box here, there is a charge. Sensing that I was not happy, she said she would take the two parcels this time at no charge but in the future... again unlike anything I have experienced from a Postal Annex location before. I would think they would like me to come into their location and look forward to doing business with me and our Company - but I am never going back there again! read more

Went into have get postage for a large envelope and mail it. Only one person available to help, can only help one person at a time. While they waited for a FAX they chatted.. unable to help anyone else. I waited 15 minutes, no customer service. I instead went to US Post Office, 3 miles away, and used the self service. have gone year for about a year now and never had a weird encounter until today. I have ran my own business for years and always drop off my USPS packages with postal annex no problem. today i had a lady tell me they charge a dollar a for every package that doesn't fit in their envelope slot. in the years that I have ran my own business and have gone to several postal annex's to drop off my packages I have never had this happen. I asked if it was something new and she said they always did it, I guess I just had caught her on a bad day or some thing. I been here a few times now for both Notary services ($15 per signature) and passport photos. I haven't had any issues and service has always been nice. They do lots of other things here such as sell trinkets, offer postage services and packing materials. It's an easy shopping center to get to as it is a few doors down from Vons in the huge Walmart shopping center. Plenty of parking. read more

We took in a USPS priority Mail Express letter, that was already labeled and paid. Since they were so busy and with Covid we told them we understood that would scan it in as soon as the line went down and we would see the tracking post but wow would would have ever thought it would take over 36 hours for that line to have gone down. I have shipped twice from this location. My first experience with this location during the holiday season was great. My package was delivered via DHL express in an appropriate and timely manner. The individual helping me was so kind and helpful! However my second experience was not as great. The individual helping me during check out was still super nice and helpful! I paid almost $300 to ship DHL express again, but this time my package sat in this location for 2 days before it was picked up. I had to reach out to the location multiple times, as well as speak with two different individuals neither of which took a accountability. I would hope if a package is left sitting for an extended amount of time, effort is made to notify the customer and reach out to the carrier as well as compensation for not delivering on their express services. Highly recommend trying different methods of shipping. read more

On Thursday 3-16-23 I had a large item I was trying to send back to Amazon. I had put the wrong label on it and it couldn't be shipped. I am 82 years old and I had a hard time getting it to the store, so postal annex on College Blvd. told me that they would keep the box for me. It took two more trips before I had the correct label. I was totally unaware of the markup they add to the cost of shipping via USPS, FedEx and UPS. I was sending some packages after the holiday and checked the USPS/FedEx/UPS websites before I went to ship the packages to get an idea of how much it would be...total was about $45 - $50 for two packages, one going USPS Priority and the other FedEx Home Delivery (Ground)... the total from Postal Annex was over $80...meaning an almost 100% markup or 40% margin on their "services"! I could have just as easily driven less than two miles to the FedEx Hub in Oceanside and the Post Office right down the street, but I was in a bit of a rush and wanted to get the packages in process and delivered as soon as possible. They would not give me a receipt to mail my FedEx packages because they did not print my FedEx label???? How ridiculous! Went to the one on Oceanside Boulevard and they gladly printed a receipt. I think it is absurd to not give a receipt. When you drop off a package one should have proof of that. Rip off. I get that this is a convenience type store but they charged me over $14 to ship a 1 pound package that costs $5 at the post office. I also was shipping a rigid envelope which the girl told me was going to be $5.50 or some outrageous price. Finally I was annoyed (as I had a lot of items to mail) and asked her to please cancel the shipping. She said well you have to understand we're retail. I said I understood that but the prices were too high and I would just go down the street to the post office instead. She rings the envelope up (since I already wrote on it) and charged me $4.99 for the envelope. For an envelope!! Completely rude and uncalled for as I was pleasant. Poor business ethics. read more

I was told that I order to accept my package she would charge me $1.00. Online it says they accept USPS drop off. So beware they will charge you to accept your box and mail. I was new to this area when I dropped off a UPS box with them. I already packed and taped the box myself. All this outlet had to do was give it to the UPS person. UPS would pay this outlet for handling my package. They only had to hold it for their next UPS pick up and drop off. On my third visit, I was rudely told a new policy was that they had to charge me $1.00 for handling my UPS packages. Excuse me? My packages were already labeled, packed and taped. They didn't have to do anything. All they had to do was give it to the UPS driver! After about a month, I became aquainted with my UPS driver who told me that any shipping company that receives packages already labeled with a UPS shipping label would be paid a handling fee from UPS! This particular outlet is owned by a former US Marine who owns another shipping outlet within 10 miles of his location. I was told the owner is making a good living running this operation so I guess he has a lot of customers supporting his business. The reason for my 1-star rating is due to their employees rudeness and unfriendliness. Charging $1.00 handling fee is gouging your customers when UPS pays you to receive packages on their behalf. My advice is to drop off your packages at any UPS Store if you have a UPS account. Better yet, use the US Postal Service for your domestic shipping needs. read more
