A few days ago, I went in with my husband and stepdaughter to have paperwork notarized. My husband only had a Veterans Affairs I.D. - he'd lost his driver's license - and although it was a photo i.d., the notary at this Postal Annex said that it was not a valid i.d. because it was not on her list, and because it did not have a number on it. It did have a barcode on it, but she said that that barcode was not compatible with their system so she could not use it to scan and get the numbers. My stepdaughter had her previously notarized Power of Attorney (for my husband) with her but this notary seemed ignorant of what a Power of Attorney is and was unable to understand the information on the form that was very specific about the authorization to do what we needed to do - a real estate transfer of a time share. She started adding (making up) exceptions to what was on the actual Power of Attorney. We even had a recently drawn-up will (drawn up by a local attorney) in the car as further proof that we were who we said we were. She seemed to be working very hard to find some reason not to provide the notarization services. I can understand for a notary to be careful and risk averse, but she took 20 minutes or more to decide that she could not help us, wasting our valuable time. That is just plain incompetent . We went across the street to a different business where we found a notary who knew what he was doing, checked and rechecked all of our documentation and i.d.'s, as well as the Power of Attorney authorizing my stepdaughter to act for my husband (who was there, in any case), even informing us of the need to be sure that there were no blank sections in the forms and how to resolve that, which we did. We were relieved to find someone competent to notarize for our documents after wasting time at the Postal Annex. The cost to us to have this done correctly and efficiently was $80. I would avoid taking anything to this Postal Annex for notarizing unless it is the most basic of single page forms. There may be other notaries there, but the person we got really fell short. I've given this a rating of 1 star, only because a rating of no stars is not an option. Our experience was a real disappointment. read more

After we got the document notarized we needed to ship it overnight through FedEx which we didn't have the FedEx envelope so the lady over the counter looked for one and gave us the envelope right on the spot. The employees were very helpful especially since I'm not familiar with the proper paperwork that needs to be done for shipping out of the U.S. They helped walk me through everything I needed to complete, as well as provided me with the DHL shipping bag and customs form for free. Been here 5 years. Never had any problems til the new people took over. Mail getting lost, my mail in other peoples boxes, extremely rude service from the owners. They can't keep employees longer than a month or two. A lot of people are leaving because of these issues. What tops it off is I drop a package off and put it in the owners hand. He says his system is down and he'll put the receipt in my box once it's back up. Package never shipped and he acknowledges I gave him the package but says it's not his fault it's missing. I went to this place to send Xmas gift cards and the attendant there saw that they were gift cards. My gift cards never made it to their location. I went back and asked why recipients never got anything 1week later. She asked about tracking and I realized I had forgot to ask about getting it and said she couldn't help me. Another week later expecting them to maybe come back to my home for whatever reason I double checked that addresses were correct. 1 was and the other wasn't, meaning that one of them should have come back to me for certain but never did. I had a few communication stumbles but the owner and his daughter were very patient and kind. We both came to the conclusion that it was neither parties fault but lack of communication styles and pre-setting events that might of set up frustration, for example the previous person left their receipt and large quantity of "print" copies beforehand and it was not cleared, I could go on but you get my drift. The owner was a very patient man and was attentive and open after the communication styles were cleared up.. It was such a hot and humid day and he had bursts of long lines to the point that all of his employees were busy with customers.. I give them a high rate because businesses who are willing to listen and engage when everything is telling them to move on and serve the the next person had the grace and professionalism to help and resolve. I've used their annex twice before with no problems at all and even welcomed their transitioning to the area so I felt we had established some trust and history. His daughter was very respectful towards her father (and boss) and I too have a father whom I respect and love (I was there to mail something to my Dad and shared with the owner) so it set the tone for me to reach for th higher bar.. Shocked when I went to renew my mailbox last week and it went from $30 for 3 months to $69!!!! How does postal annex get away with such a huge jump in price?!!! I feel a bit trapped as the expense of changing my address will cost me even more. I watched one of the new owners disrespect one of their employees in front of me and others. Huge turn off. Service is super slow when the owners are there. Please help this store! And lower the box price!!! That's is ridiculous! I wasn't even given a notice of increase. Poor business ethics. If you need just a simple box as a mailing address for a business, avoid these folks like the plague. Their "normal" rates for boxes are more than double what you can get a PO box for 3 blocks away - then when you tell them it's for a business, the price goes up even more. The service they provide to a company isn't any different - the only difference is the price. Price gouging isn't a good way to deal with other small business owners in the same neighborhood. Usually for me all you have to do to stay out of one star land is avoid unethical or dangerous behavior. I guess technically they are allowed to charge businesses more, so their minimum would be two stars - but they were rude on top of it. I wouldn't hold out hope this one star establishment will be around for long - when they close their doors but they own your address, what happens then? Hint: It's not pretty and a big pain to deal with. read more

Went in to get some documents notarized. The women working there were extremely nice and professional and got the job done. After previously going to UPS and being told that the notarization couldn't be done because the form had my maiden name on it, the woman at the Postal Annex said she could do it no problem (my maiden last name is now my middle name, which is apparent on my current driver's license). They then scanned it and emailed it to me, which I received without a hitch. Their prices seemed comparable, if not cheaper, than UPS. Will go there from now on!! read more

It was unfortunate that one of the staff was out sick. But even so, I was just trying to ship three items to a family member. I needed them packaged. I asked the young man at the counter if I could get that done there and he said yes. I then made two trips out to my car and back to bring in the items. When we went to proceed, all I was hearing from them was how much work it was going to be, how they wouldn't be able to do it for a while...how many customers they had waiting... when I expressed that I wasn't feeling confident that they wanted or felt able to get the job done, and that I subsequently was feeling like I wanted to go somewhere else, the older gentleman started to berrate me and complain that I was "inflexible." When I said that it didn't feel right and that I was going to go somewhere else I was told quite loudly "GOOD." Clearly my business wasn't important to them. I wouldn't go back. I'm a nice person. I went in today and experienced the worst customer service ever! EMMA is the name of the disrespectful employee. First she was rude to the FEDEX driver cursing at him in Spanish in the middle of the store, and then she was rude and disrespectful to me. She wasn't even the employee helping me she just butt in! I told her she was being rude and unprofessional and I left! I got in my car and called and asked to speak to the owner, turns out she was there and heard the whole thing and didn't step in to tell her to stop. i was in the postal annex yesterday to get a document notarized, as we all know if you go in to get document notarized it is you usually time sensitive. i waited in line patiently, the employee then directed me to the desk of notarization. in the process of walking to the desk they then stopped and started having a conversation with another customer about business matters. i waited at the desk as directed by the employee waiting patiently for my document to get notarized. while waiting the employee was so immersed in there conversation with the other customer that they decided to forget about me and start helping them. i then stood up and took my business elsewhere. i was appalled and offended that someone could just forget a customer. read more

Sherry is Amazing!! The best I have seen. I have been sending packages for a few years with Sherry's assistance. My items ALWAYS need Sherry's assistance with repackaging and reorganizing. Sherry always find the the best packaging and least costly way to mail my items. She Never complains.. Ever.. AWFUL!!!! Do NOT go here if you want your package to arrive!!! I sent it priority mail and it took over a WEEK to travel half of the state! They charge more for priority than the post office and CANNOT get your package there even close to on time. No refunds, nothing they can do, just a lousy excuse of not my fault. read more

I went here today to mail a package. I wasn't sure what time they closed so I went to the door to check their hours and found out they closed at 6. The lights were on and an employee was behind the counter. I actually opened the door and looked inside and she looked right at me. Great! It was 5:53 p.m. I'd left the package in the car. Went back to the car to get the package. The car was parked a few feet away. When I returned to the postal annex not even 30 seconds later, the door was locked and the lights were off!! In the meantime, another customer was also trying to get in. Someone watching this told me there was another postal annex in the Jack in the Box plaza across the street and they also closed at 6. I rushed over there, they were still open, and I was able to mail my package. If your closing time is 6 p.m., it should be 6 p.m., not 5:53. I'd gone here for years. Needless to say, I will now take my business elsewhere. read more
