It was very unfortunate. I tried to call to get something notarized, calling twice without any answer. Since I thought they might be busy, I decided to go in person. I entered with a teenager ahead of me and wasn't greeted. The employee might have thought I was with the teen, not sure. He opened the door to the back and didn't return for about five minutes. He looked in and then came back inside. A few more minutes went by before he and another person, who I now assume was a father and son, came out from the back talking about gas specifically about overfilling and not to worry about reimbursement. After they left, the store clerk finally noticed me, even though I had been standing in the same area the entire time. His look was a mix of annoyance and surprise. I asked if there was a notary; he simply shook his head no and continued to look down at his computer. read more

I went barreling in 10 minutes prior to closing and the store associate couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. They helped me select the right kind of box and shipping method to send out a gift to a friend. Thanks to their help, everything got shipped out without a hitch. The associates didn't even ask me to go buy a tape dispenser and attempt charging me for helping me package up the box! What!? Because the last time I went to FedEx and UPS, the associate there made me not only pay for the tape but also charged me extra $12 or something like that just to help me pack. I would certainly choose PostalAnnex+ over actually going to USPS, FedEx, or UPS from here on out. The store itself has multiple shipping supplies, and cute personalized package items like shipping envelopes, tapes, cards, etc. Just with the helpfulness and the abundance of shipping supplies alone makes me want to choose this location over any of the other available shipping couriers. I worked at the Postal Annex for almost a year, and I highly recommend Abe, Syed, and Gemma. After observing these people help thousands of customers, I can confidently say you will be taken care of. Abe is a master shipper and can handle the most complex shipments, whether that is a domestic shipment of that painting or an international care package to a loved one. His heart is really to save the customer money, and he frequently goes out of his way to make your box dimensions smaller or repackage your package to ensure you're not paying more for shipping than needed. He is also the man to speak to regarding Penske truck rentals and virtual mailbox services. If you ever need anything notarized, Syed is the Notary you want. He is very knowledgeable in the applicable laws, and since he has been doing this for years, there is rarely a document that he is not familiar with. He is really quick and efficient, with a great attention to detail. Out of the hundred or so customers I saw getting something notarized, not one was disappointed. In fact, many came back to the store just to have Syed notarize his documents. Gemma is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. Her customer service is incredible, and she really goes the EXTRA mile to make sure you are taken care of. But don't let that kindness fool you, she is an expert when it comes to the various shipping outlets: UPS, USPS, FEDEX, and DHL. If you ever want to get a physical private mailbox at the store, I recommend talking to her! I will say that with the Postal Annex franchise, you will be paying more than if you were to wait in line at the Post Office. Gemma is the sweetest person ever, the guy that claims who owns it is a different story. My first encounter with him was me asking if had a package come through and made it difficult for me to just get a yes or a no. The second he was difficult again, not sure what his deal is. I just went in to pay and he said to leave and so I did and I hope that many others do as well. This location is actually much more convenient than going to the postal service I frequent, and it felt like an easier process to have my documents shipped out. This was a joke. My phone directed me here saying it was a post office. It was not. But I decided to just go in and ship out what I had and find a real post office for future. I send out packages all the time with my small business and I know what everything should cost. The guy tried to tell me shipping a large, cardboard envelope would cost $6+ each. Bullshit! I told him that the post office (mind you he was going to send it with USPS too) charges only $2 each. He told me I was wrong and I decided to leave. Went to the post office to mail out my envelopes. Guess what, I was wrong. Terribly, terribly wrong...it was only $1.82 each. Avoid this place and just go to the post office. Its less then a mile away and you wont get ripped off. read more

I had to ship my old, broken cell phone back to Verizon today. The old phone had to be sent to Fort Worth, TX by this Friday or else Verizon was going to charge me almost 300 bucks for the new phone I ordered even though I had insurance that covered the new phone (I'm a klutz when it comes to cell phones...have broken 2 in the past 3 years). Anyway, I really did not want to wait in a long line at the Post Office to ship a box FedEx (Like I did yesterday....waited 15 minutes at the Post Office just to buy a sheet of Christmas stamps, really now, why..). So, I googled FedEx and I found out that this Postal Annex will ship boxes via FedEx for you, and this place is only a half of a mile from mi casa. Sweet! Walked in around 1pm. Not busy at all in there. The young 20 something girl working behind the counter was really friendly, personable and knowledgeable. She got me in and out and on my way in less than 5 minutes. She also greeted the 3 other customers that came in by first name...so that shows a lot of other business will use this Postal Annex too (or for your own personal use). And it only cost me about 20 bucks to ship my old phone to TX by Friday....that sure beats the almost 300 buck bill they wanted me to pay. Nice! Store is clean and well kept up too. Clean, well stocked, fairly quiet little place. Plus, it's situated between a bank and the grocery store, so it's very easy to swing in here while running errands. FYI, though, I would recommend you NOT use the Notary service here. My husband and I came in to have a 40pg contract notarized and I just couldn't believe how rude the notary (Soudabeh Mouzoon Lencek was her name) was. We only needed her to acknowledge watching us sign the final page - instead she criticized, interrupted constantly, got irritated with me that our lawyer didn't include an all-purpose acknowledgement page for her, and even went so far as to give unsolicited advice that contradicted our attorney's instructions. AND, she insisted we write "N/A" on the signature lines for the parties not present (which should have been irrelevant to her, considering she wasn't asked to notarize for them too) which may well have invalidated a whole section of our contract. I'll update if our attorney says that it's an issue, but I was pretty pissed about it. She had no regard for our privacy, (firing questions very loudly across the store - I don't care if it's quiet in there, it's not the world's business) or our time (acknowledge final page, lady. That's your job. You're not my lawyer, my mother, or my friend. And why exactly should that take almost 40mins when we've done everything except the one thing we're required to have you do?). read more

Came here to ship a package and buy a book of stamps. FYI: Compared to the regular US Postal Service, it's about a 10 cent increase. So, it's more expensive than usual. 1ST INCIDENT My first review should have been done last year... but my new experience reminded me to get it done. It was last April I went to mail my grandson a Easter gift and card. He is 2 years old. After the elderly lady taped up the box she realized she forgot to put the card in. She reopened it and placed the card in taped it up ad off it went. About 4 days later my grandson received his package, I'm just so glad he was not allowed to empty the popcorn to pull out his gifts, because had he done it he would have been injured. His mother reached in to start pulling out his gifts only to by cut open on the hand.. why? because the lady who packed the box and had to reopen to put the card in, did not watch what she was doing and left the BOX CUTTER inside the package! Yeah their insurance company called but they NEVER followed through with anything nor did the owner of Postal Annex. 2ND INCIDENT I sent my son to ship a package. Not thinking I gave him a check to pay for it. They refused the check because they needed my drivers license, I told him to forget it and I would take in. When he brought me my check back to cancel out, I noticed the Charge was $65.00 and change. I was in shock. I took it to the regular place I usually ship from,, GOIN POSTAL in Lake Forest, To my surprise it was only $42 to ship. I told the owner how much Postal Annex was charging.. he was even in shock. He showed me the rates in his computer to ship my package so I know he was charging me right and just not under charging. Postal Annex is all about profit and OVER charges for EVERYTHING. I will NEVER go there again. People need to do their price shopping for these mom and pop shipping/postal stores. I did mine and will never give them business even for a single postage stamp. I like my local Postal Annex. Yes, there is an added cost to certain items here and there but its worth the minimal additional cost when I walk in and there is less than a 5 minute wait every time. In fact, I was there today and it took about 30 seconds. In and out! Simple as that. I've personally never had any issues with shipments but then again I've never shipped internationally here. I read another reviewer used DHL via Postal Annex and had some issues which is really too bad :-( The people that work here are really nice and they do a good "gift wrap" of any packages that need it (for an additional cost of course) when you are in a hurry or you don't want to do it, they can do it for you and make it pretty. read more
