I was here for an event. The food was quite flavorful and the servers were fantastic. The place was a bit inaccessible for those with mobility needs and extremely loud. I couldn't hear people at the table let alone the rest of the event. The server asked how I wanted the steak, which was fine. They didn't serve it even close to how it was requested and it wasn't worth trying to have a discussion or question it given the environment. In a small group it might be better. I was so excited to come here for dinner after having been for cocktails a few weeks ago. The atmosphere in the bar/lounge area is perfect - extra comfy bar seats and big booths that are equally as comfy. The bartenders and wait staff are all very friendly and informative. The cocktails are elegant and tasty, my favorite being the cucumber martini. Dinner was awesome - the waygu dumplings were tasty and you get 5 of them so perfect for sharing. The soup and salad were not overly huge, so there was still plenty of room for dinner. The steaks were seasoned perfectly and temperature was just what we asked for. For sides we got the street corn with bacon (amazing) and the mashed potatoes (good but nothing special). For dessert, both the butter cake and cheesecake were delicious. In a single word....incredible! Post 1917 opened its second location in the heart of Lexington. Service can sometimes be a foot note in a review but I'm starting with it. Service here is top notch. From the minute you enter until the moment you leave. Stellar. Our waiter, Luis, was among the top 5 servers I've had in my life. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and had the long list of delicious sounding specials memorized. He walked me through the entire menu and recommended the items he thought I might like. And he nailed it. The guy was phenomenal. Clone this man and sell him to other restaurants. Wow. Flawless service from this gentleman. This kind of service is rare. He's the guy you expect at a high end establishment. I can't say enough about him. I promise I'm not related to him, he was just so good I needed to call it out. Post does so many things so well. Steaks! Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The Long Bone (as they call it) came out cooked to the ideal color at the requested temp. Spot on. It had a side of 4 sauces to sample, each one unique and bursting with flavor. The steak was so juicy, it didn't need sauce, but you will need to try them anyway. Blue cheese butter? Yes please. Chef Jason knows steaks and it's a fact that cannot be denied. This is his second Post 1917 restaurant. The staff is well trained and it shows. Everyone seems so passionate about their job here. It shows in the food and the experience. The crab cakes, suggested by Luis, we're so good. More crab than cake, which meant you get alot of crab in every bite. Another perfect execution. Moist and flavorful. It's a must try. The wedge salad is a steakhouse staple and Post 1917 nails it. High quality blue cheese and fresh lettuce with bacon and tomato. Simple but awesome. Dessert was a key lime cheesecake. You can see and taste the key lime zest. I could have eaten 2 of these if I hadn't filled up on steak. The menu has steaks and seafood mainly, but they seem to do it all to perfection. I saw other dishes leave the kitchen and they all made me wish I ordered the whole menu. There was a seafood paella which looked like something I must try. The interior is huge and very well decorated. It feels so open and inviting. Overall... an easy 5 star restaurant. Post 1917 - What a fantastic expresso martini - Bars Near Me - Lexington, Massachusetts

We had an amazing 5 star experience at the new Post 1917 restaurant in Lexington Center on Saturday night. The food, atmosphere, and service rivals those of any larger chain. Reservations were easy, on-line with the pick of restaurant seating up front or high top tables around a large rectangular bar towards the back. I made reservations in the restaurant. First, I must say that the seats were the most comfortable for a restaurant with padding, semi circle support for arms and back as a huge upgrade over wooden chairs. For appetizers we shared a Caesar salad, panko crusted cauliflower and French onion soup. The Caesar was huge and not smothered in dressing which is a definite plus. The soup was loaded with cheese with plenty of small onion bits and the cauliflower was not greasy, not overpowering, and plentiful. A little table salt to taste and it was good to go. For dinner, we both ordered the 10oz filet which are perfect size when also ordering multiple sides to taste. My medium rare was cooked perfectly, but her medium was similar to my medium rare, but was not a show stopper. The mashed potatoes could have used more salt and pepper with their buttery goodness, but that is what the table shakers are for. The green beans were el dente and just steamed without garlic or sauces which is great for those trying to be more health conscious. Similarly, the roasted carrots were enjoyed. For dessert, the rare key lime pie was excellent and the crème brûlée was equally delicious both served with homemade whipped cream. My only negative was with the water situation. $12 each for 27oz VOSS still and Voss Sparkling is far more expensive than other restaurants charging $9 for 34 oz bottles. And when my second bottle of sparkling came with a glass of ice because it was not cold I sent it back because nobody ordering sparking at $12 should have watered down beverage due to melting tap water. Tap water also would have been fine over Voss still if offered. As a redeeming quality, the "bartenders choice" cocktails were delicious and refreshing. Overall, a 5 star review with knowledgeable and attentive servers especially for being so close to opening which is a credit to training and recruitment. Everything here was super yummy!! Service was a little slow but I think they're just getting into the groove of things since they just opened. Our waiters Luis and Sebastian were super sweet and awesome and the drinks are so delicious I highly recommend the cucumber martini. The filet was super great too I got the Kona rub but I still felt like it could use some more flavor. The Brussel sprouts and au gratin potatoes were sooo yummy I would definitely order them again and look forward to trying some of their other side dishes. We didn't have the amazing experience many here describe. Good: The hostesses and our server were great. Genuinely warm and helpful. Atmosphere: Lively, nice decor with interesting lighting. It we were in a corner booth. It might have felt a bit loud if at a table. Food: I would give it ok marks. There were 4 of us and we ended up with appetizers and drinks. We had the seafood tower--just average compared to other similar restaurants and with tiny servings of cocktail sauce, etc.; lamb lollipops--not sure why the coating--they would have been better without it; "bacon" which was pork belly--friends said it was good; calamari--very good but no sauce with it; the kale salad with fried cheese--apparently it was good; and the wedge salad which was fine but definitely nothing special. Drinks: The drinks were good although the pour for an expensive tequila was small relatively to other similar restaurants and one of red wine pours was so small, we had to ask for more. The person who did the pour came back and agreed, although didn't fix it when she originally poured it, and even with the 2nd pour, it was at best a very moderate one. For $20/glass, can the restaurant at least pretend they're not trying to skimp? Prices: This is an expensive restaurant. Just know that going there. It would have been a bit better if they had taken down their Restaurant Week menu and price. We thought that was an option and learned from our waitress its not offered on Saturdays. That's ok, but for $55 you get an appetizer, main and dessert. We then looked at the price of one of their mains that's offered, and the steak by itself on the regular menu is $65. I knew the prices going there, so that wasn't the issue but do know ahead of time its pricey. All and all, for the price and quality, we'll go elsewhere next time. Lovely restaurant and nice service, BUT, I was shocked when I got the lobster tail. It was so tiny. I eat a lot of lobster on the cape and the tail is usually the meatiest part. Post 1917's lobster tail was the size of my ring finger-no wider and very thin. $32 for that was way over priced and price gouging to say the least. They should be ashamed to charge $32 for a lobster tail that was clearly trimmed down to very tiny! My husband's steak was fine, but the lobster tail put a damper on the evening's meal. The ambiance and service at the bar was amazing. As for the food wow it makes my mouth water just typing about it.

3.5 stars. The fries with my steak frites were soggy. This is because they are served in a paper cone and ~2/3 of the fries are getting steamed in the enclosed space; an example of foregoing flavor for aestethic purposes, often found in mediocre fine dining. The steak was cooked to temp, and the sauce was decently flavorful, but nothing unique in the dish to talk about. The atmosphere is generic 'expensive steakhouse'looks, and shows no individual personality. If you want to spend the money, you can always go for a good steak, but I see no reason to revisit this establishment. read more

This new location just opened in Lexington. The decor is upscale and perfect for a date or night out with friends. The waitstaff was top notch and came by to check on our table many times. The food was incredible although we did not try the steak yet. However, the salads and appetizers we ordered, with our generous sized cocktails, were delicious and plated with care. The street corn, in particular was very good and the brussels sprouts were perfect. I would also say their salad with fried goat cheese was a standout. We went to the Lexington location as it is close to our home. This is our second visit since they opened in Aug 2025. The ambiance is very pleasant and we find the booths in the bar area very comfortable. We understand Lori, the owner's wife, managed the decor. It's comfortably elegant. The food is excellent and prepared perfectly. I enjoy a filet mignon and this one is spot on. Very tender and Med rare perfect! The bar cocktails are amazing as well. My only complaint is the missing bread. They offer no bread! Come on Jason where's the bread? This is the only high end steak house we frequent that serves no bread! Leading the way is great but sacrificing bread is not the way to lead. This is a big turnoff to many diners. The cost of bread is not worth it. So Jason add bread and it's five stars! read more

Given the truly horrifying experience, I felt it would be a disservice to other prospective guests not to share an honest account across multiple platforms. My intention was not to "trash" a family owned business but to provide transparency so that both management and diners might benefit from constructive feedback. As someone who comes from a family of small business owners, I am well aware of the challenges inherent in running an independent establishment. Precisely because I understand those challenges, I believe that detailed, candid reviews (though uncomfortable) should be welcomed as opportunities for growth rather than met with reflexive defensiveness. Had circumstances been different, we would have definitely addressed our concerns in person. However, two factors discouraged us: first and most importantly, we were celebrating a close friend's birthday and were reluctant to sour the occasion further with confrontation; second, as noted in my review, it took fifteen minutes for a glass of water, which did not inspire confidence that management attention would be more forthcoming. I encourage you to revisit other reviews in which guests have similarly remarked upon mediocre food and "grabby" service. This review is for the Reading location. Ambiance is casual but refined. This was my first time to Post and I would definitely return. Sat at the bar, Old Fashion and Martinis were solid. The wagyu app was tasty, although they call them "shareables". There were 5 portions. Maybe have six to make an equal shareable portion, 3 and 3. The street corn was crazy good and I'm not a corn guy. The tater tots on the other hand were a big miss. More like mash potatoes squeezed from a pastry bag. Very little toty texture to them. I would probably pass on those again. I ordered ribeye medium, it was cooked just right. My buddy ordered a ribeye as well but they accidentally brought him out the bone in ribeye, which they charged him for. He ordered his medium. I would say it was RARE. Under cooked unfortunately. He still ate it though. Ya can't send an undercooked steak back, it always comes back over cooked. So beautiful steak not cooked.... tough being given the wrong $90 steak and then having it wayyyy undercooked. We wrapped up the meal with Post's Butter Cake..... This thing was STUPID DELICIOUS!! Best part of the meal was that dessert. I will definitely go again given the opportunity but there are also some spots where they really drop the ball. Nice place though. The food was very good.... but the corporate tab-loading made me feel like I had to be on the alert... pushing the add-ons and the higher cost items, and pretending that the choice of sparkling water instead of still water was just a preference, not an order. (Kudos to the restaurants who don't do that... wouldn't it be better to say "would you like still water, or do you want to order sparkling water." Who wants to watch out for subtle cons when they're out for a great dinner?) And two bits of fibbing on the part of a very professionally-polished waiter: The excellent Chilean Sea Bass ($57) that I ordered was to come with beets gratinee and oven-roasted carrots. I asked if there were a substitution for the carrots and the answer was no. So I said, bring them anyway; my husband likes carrots. When the plate arrived with just the beets, the waiter tried to convince me that the carrots were an ingredient in the beets. Oh please.... the beets were just sliced beets. We were there for a birthday and were greeted by a tent card on the table wishing us a happy celebration.... so time for desert. I ordered NY Cheesecake with Fruit Compote. The cheesecake came with a thin drizzle-line of almost clear sauce...no sign of any stewed fruit pieces that define what a compote is. And the cheesecake was so ordinary (no different than what you'd get at Stop and Shop) that I didn't eat more than a few bites The waiter noticed that I wasn't eating it and grandly offered to take it off of the tab. BUT here's the catch! The dessert that got taken off the tab was described as "celebration desert." In other words, they were going to comp one desert for the birthday ANYway. And they still charged me for the cheesecake. Did they think I wasn't going to read the check? Bottom Line: Good food, with a helping of B.S. on the side. And if you want to spend the big bucks on a special meal, you have all of Metro Boston out there to chose from. read more

Horrible location with limited parking which you have to pay which minimal but only a max of 2 hours. Small place with no atmosphere. Mediocre food (at best) which is overpriced in my opinion. Also, only one bathroom for a place that can hold around 100 people is not sufficient so be prepared to wait to go the bathroom when busy. Would not recommend at all! read more

Post 1917 knows what they are doing with steak. My wife thought her filet mignon might have been the best she's had, and my ribeye was very very good. The service was also excellent and attentive, though some might find it a bit pushy. But there are a few things they would need to do to displace our favorite steakhouse. It is a very noisy place just by nature of the space and it was compounded later in the evening by bass-heavy piped-in music. Tables need to be bigger (or plates smaller), things get tight real fast. And, even for the category, we found it pricey. Nice to have as an alternative, and it could become the favorite; the things we didn't like are all fixable - the foundations are good. read more

Post 1917 failed along most basic litmus tests of a high end steak house. The French onion soup was lukewarm, overly acidic, and extremely pricey for what you get. The steak was way under seasoned -- a cardinal sin -- while the sides were way over seasoned. The food is AT BEST mediocre, but considering the price point and the small portions, my advice is to avoid. I have been to the Reading location and while I found it to be more expensive than other steak houses in the area the ambience, food and service was great so it could be recommended. When I heard that they were opening a Lexington location I was excited because it would be closer to me. However, this place falls woefully short of the Reading location and would rank dead last in the great steak houses in next door Burlington. First let's start with the underwhelming front entrance. Maybe a 12 feet wide front and a vinyl sign. This opens up to a dining room that could be mistaken for a Not Your Average Joe's. Nothing wrong with that but when you have prices like they do then it's a problem. Want to talk prices? How about a $20 Old Fashioned that gets bumped up to $21 because you asked for a specific bourbon. You mean the $20 won't cover it?!. Then there is the salad for $17. That's not crazy but when asked to add some shrimp to it you are told they would have to add it like a shrimp cocktail appetizer. Your salad is now $41, needless to say we passed. My recommendation, skip it. There are at least 4 other great steak houses I would recommend that are within a 3 miles of this place.
