Burger and onion rings
Randa U.

Your classic style Portillo's is the one in Rolling Meadows. With it being a national company, the opted in to also have self ordering kiosks, but thankfully they still have cashiers! I love going to Portillos for their burgers. That's right, not only do they do a great Chicago dog and Beef, they have fantastic burgers. Normally their burgers are more rounded but this one seemed to be a bit smashed. I enjoyed every bite of my hamburger with everything on it. You could get the $9.99 burger meal deal, but I upgraded to a large onion ring instead of fries, and it didn't disappoint. We also tried their giardiniera dip. This was a surprise because it's a new side sauce that Portillos is offering. It's also a first. I've never seen a giardiniera dip/sauce. It was served cold, which was a little off, we expected it to be warmer. Overall, you can get a great meal to go or seated inside. This particular location is always busy and is always on point with their great service.

We knew this was a pretty well-known local spot, so we had to give it a try. We ordered the Chicago-style hot dog and the Italian sausage combo, and surprisingly they also had cake shakes, so we got the strawberry lemon cake shake as well. The Italian sausage combo was fire, especially the sausage itself, which was juicy, well seasoned, and packed with flavor. The Chicago hot dog was also surprisingly good. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a hot dog with no ketchup, but lowkey, I really liked it. The cake shake was another surprise. Drinking what basically tastes like a slice of cake was definitely an interesting experience, but somehow it worked and was actually really enjoyable. Service was quick, and the whole place had that classic casual local vibe. Overall, we liked it a lot and can definitely see why this place is so popular.

Italian Beef Sandwich

4 stars for Portillo's overall. This is a nice location in Rolling Meadows next to a big Walmart. Portillo's is just your average Chicago area chain restaurant with Italian Beef's/Burgers/Hot Dogs/etc. I had the Italian Beef Sandwich juicy with hot peppers, it was good but certainly not as good as a mom and pop Italian beef restaurant. If you need something quick and easy and somewhat Chicago style, stop by Portillo's. Also, download their app - you can earn free food/discounts.

Italian Beef & Sausage Combo w/ sweet peppers

Classic Portillo's, good food, atmosphere. Had the Beef/Sausage Combo, thought the sausage was a little dry, first time for one of those. Should maybe have gotten some beef gravy added. Beef flavor great as always but a little dry too. Had fries and onion rings too. I really like their crinkle fries. Service was prompt.

Chocolate cake

Desserts amazing but chocolate cake slice definitely smaller than in my past experience. Burger was charred too much for me . Cheese fries were good

Love the neon signage walking into the restaurant.

Nothing hits like a real Chicago dog from a Chicago legend. The hot Italian beef with sweet & hot peppers was also . We loved the vintage diner decor as well. Of course there's a choice of kiosk ordering or the counter with a real human, so that's up to you. Great experience while in town!

Ordered a large and this is what was in the bag..

This is how they're selling large fries these days.. yall need to do better charging people out the ass and then giving half an order.

that's a plain HOT DOG and CHEESE FRIES in the carrrrrr

There's not a ton of foods I miss from Chicago...but Portillo's is one of them. And it's not even about the Italian beef or the mayo Chocolate Cake we all like to talk about. Not even the cheese fries or the aforementioned chocolate cake shoved & grinded into a creamy shake. Not even the unreplicable chopped salad. I mean, I love all those things. But what I crave here are their good freaking hot dogs. On my last trip home, my friend and I got hot dogs, cheese fries and ate like monsters in the car together. It was grand. At this location, as with all locations, there will be a line. The wait at Portillo's is similar to the wait I do now at In N Out in LA. You drive up, might pull down the block even to wait, but you wait for the drive thru until the staff takes your order. The staff is so friendly and the line moves pretty fast! Now back to the hot dog, nothing beats the Vienna Beef hot dogs they have at Portillo's. I could pretend I was a good Chicagoan for you and that I get my hot dog with mustard, relish, celery salt, freshly chopped onions, sliced red ripe tomatoes, kosher pickle and sport peppers. However that is horrifying to me and I get my hot dog completely plain, just dog on slightly steamed poppy seed bun. It's so freaking good and why can I not find it in LA?! Curses! However, because I cannot, I will continue to patronize Portillo's when I roll back through town.

Location looks quite different than the average Portillos has a 1950-60 era to it. Food is typical Portillos place is clean and I never ordered from a kiosk at Portillos so that was interesting to do .

While I have been visiting Portillo's all over Illinois and Indiana for at least the last 18 years, this was my first visit to the Portillo's location in rolling Meadows. This place is a flashback in time and literally looks like a 1950s diner and it's absolutely incredible to see the decor and how well-maintained. The place happens to be. It is absolutely nostalgic. Of course this is Portillo's and so they have the standard menu, especially since the sale of the company. However, the quality is still there the speed and the great customer service. This is worth the visit.

Single cheeseburger

I don't know what happened here but today was the day I don't give them another dollar. Burger meat was burnt but so cold the cheese didn't melt. I had to microwave it when I got back to work and just tasteless. I did the drive thru

Nice signage

Everything was great here. Service was great, food was delicious and ambience is casual and very nice. I enjoy visiting the different establishments because each one is unique and different. This is my second best favorite location and I have been to many. I can't wait until Katy, Texas gets theirs up and running but they need one on I-10 going towards the Eastside of Houston, preferably in the NorthShore and Woodforest area. I will definitely come back to this one when I'm in town. My only complaint is that they don't put enough hot peppers on it even though they charge you for them. Today I enjoyed the big beef and fries.

The Leo and Hot Dog

Tried the new "the Leo" sandwich. They rebranded their Italian Beef. Its the same thing. Also had to get a Chicago dog.

Services is super slow. Been there several times, always slow. If you go there, allow yourself extra time or place order in advance.

I always order a chardog with the fries on the side. A chocolate cone as a treat, and sometimes a shake. They are always super nice and fast! The food is fresh and made to order. There's lots of seating inside and outside. And, it's always sparkling clean! CharDog-This hotdog is absolutely perfect! I savor every last bite of it. It's a Vienna Beef hotdog. So, it's the real deal. It's not the traditional Chicago dog. So, don't expect that. This hotdog is juicy, smokey, and charred with a bold beef flavor. Loaded with mustard, sports peppers, relish, and onions. On a nice plush bun. I personally get it without onions. And, it's heavenly! Chocolate Cone-If you're in the mood for a creamy, dreamy, and delicious cone. Then, make sure to get this! The chocolate is nutty and bold. I love this tasty treat. It brings me so much joy! I every now and then will treat myself to this family sized cone. And, I happily finish every last lick of this. So, next time you see Rand Red Hots. Make sure to stop here! You won't regret it!

The restaurant has a few tables along with a short counter area for seating. They have a huge menu board, which can be a little overwhelming when you first arrive. Look for the EVERYDAY SPECIAL on the board, which offers a few combo meal options. Everything else is available à la carte. We ordered two 2X Hot Dog combo meals, which include fresh-cut fries and a drink. You can have your hot dog prepared however you'd like, including Chicago-style on a poppy seed bun. Customers place their orders at the front counter, and they'll let you know when your order is ready. Orders are packed in a simple white paper bag. The hot dogs were what you would expect from a Chicago dog, but the fresh-cut fries were the highlight--YUMMY! The fountain drinks are your typical Coke products. My only wish is that they had a bathroom for customers to use, especially to wash their hands.
