This place is located in downtown Roselle within a shopping center. It's a local spot that seems to stay pretty busy with takeout orders. The restaurant has a few tables along with a short counter area for seating. They have a huge menu board, which can be a little overwhelming when you first arrive. Look for the EVERYDAY SPECIAL on the board, which offers a few combo meal options. Everything else is available à la carte. We ordered two 2X Hot Dog combo meals, which include fresh-cut fries and a drink. You can have your hot dog prepared however you'd like, including Chicago-style on a poppy seed bun. Customers place their orders at the front counter, and they'll let you know when your order is ready. Orders are packed in a simple white paper bag. The hot dogs were what you would expect from a Chicago dog, but the fresh-cut fries were the highlight--YUMMY! The fountain drinks are your typical Coke products. I love me a great hotdog joint, and was thrilled to be recommended this establishment. It's quaint little hole in the wall that oozes that local flavor. I like that hometown feel on the inside, complete with a chalkboard menu. I ordered myself a plain dog, as picky Pete's often do . Tagging along were French fries, cheese curds and mozzarella sticks , of course. The items seemed reasonably priced and came out at a good pace. The curds were a delight and had a perfect crisp. The mozz sticks were also decent and tasted spectacular. The fries were a nice touch as well, with that classic cut and flavor working together to create a symphony in my mouth. The hotdog itself was delicious. No complaints from me at all, and my buddy enjoyed his meal as well. These are my favorite kind of places to go for lunch and Dr Dogs has hit a home run. When I walked in I was greeted by a nice healthy looking boy, at first he was put off by my appearance, but then he realized the truth, I am the Terrifier, I am hells wrath apon this nation, and he happened to be a fan! It's nice to be truly understood in my true form, This little boy helped me understand that I'm not a monster, but just a blood thirsty killing machine. Doctor Dog's is easy to overlook; it's a tiny place in a tiny strip mall between Dunkin' Donuts and something else. It's a typical hot dog place with bright colors, several tables, and a wall filled with colored-in coloring pages from children customers. What sets this place apart from other hot dog joints is the incredibly friendly atmosphere. We were greeted with smiles and conversation throughout our entire time there. Veggie hot dogs are actually not on the menu. The owner's (I think) daughter is a vegetarian (oh, the irony) and he keeps veggie hot dogs for her and one other customer (is that you, Victoria?). He went in the back to check if they had them and they did -- WHEW! So, for $4, I ordered a veggie hot dog with fries and a drink. My husband got a chili cheese dog meal for $5. We had placed a somewhat large order online for pick up. They forgot one of our burgers and one of our fries. We called in getting ready to go pick up our last burger and they offered to deliver it to us. We were not upset about them forgetting 1 burger especially because it was 7:30pm on a Friday night and they were absolutely busy, things happen! However, they did NOT have to deliver our burger but they DID.. with extra fries and a handful of free hotdog coupons for next time. Hate to leave a negative review for a Roselle restaurant. I live in Roselle and want it to succeed. But after several visits and numerous hot dog orders I'm dissatisfied. I have even spoken to the manager about sub par food. The hot dogs are always lukewarm, not hot and the fries are greasy. The dog is not in the water long enough or it's not hot enough and the frying oil is not hot enough so the fries absorb too much. I've had to microwave dogs just to make them hot. If you market yourself as a place for good hot dogs, they have to be good. The improvement needed is simple. I am very aware of workforce issues but they can do better.
