I sometimes come here on my lunch break when I forget my lunch at home. This place has the best food in the Addison IL area. I usually order a slice of pizza, cheeseburger or a chicken pita. I'm not a hot dog fan but did decide to order one and it was ok. The food is well cooked. I never had any issues with my order not being correct or my food wasn't up to standard. The service is really nice as well. The prices are a bit ridiculous. But they do have specials of the month which are sometimes reasonable. One thing I love is the fresh golden crispy fries. First impression of the gyro was that it was a little small but when I picked it up & tried to bite it, my mind was instantly changed. It was good! Nothing spectacular but very good. Just love the fries!! Fat & cooked to perfection!! My husband really liked the pizza puff (I haven't eaten mine yet). He appreciated that it wasn't overcooked but also not cold inside. Bright with plenty of seating room. Business was steady at 5:00 on Father's Day but not packed. I ordered a combo (beef & sausage) dipped, dining in. The beef was dry, leathery and cold. The sausage was hot but overcooked, making it dry an crunchy. Their sausages are quite spicy, so be warned. Lastly the bread was barely dipped where the top of bread was still dry. Overall not impressed. $21 for a combo sandwich, regular fry, and regular drink seems a few dollars high, and that was the cash price. Portillo's charges $15 for the same order. I probably would have said something but the guy who took my order was quite rude just taking my order so I figured it wouldn't be worth the hassle. I remember going to this place when it was Franky's Red Hots. I spoke to the man behind the pick up area. He said the nephew of the original Franky bought it in 1994 and changed the name to Franky's. Today this business has a second location in St. Charles. The menu seems fairly similar to what I remember it as. Tastes the same too. Now, I'm all grown up and living further west. My husband has visited this place once before and he loved the meatball sub. Today he got the gyro which he and our 3.5 year old shared. I got the steak sandwich. My review is purely off of customer service. I called to inquire about why the DoorDash prices at double what they are in store, now I understand raising the prices to compete with what DoorDash takes - but a 100% increase is costing you business. I am a stay at home mom, and unfortunately we are a one vehicle household - I'd love to utilize Franky's on days I can't cook, as I just moved to the neighborhood, and it's close- and looks great. But I cannot justify a 100% increase when I'm already paying a premium to use a delivery service. Now I totally understand not taking unsolicited advice, but I've managed another local Dupage county restaurant, and the argument that it is out of their hands is simply just lazy. If they took the time to learn how to use the tablet DoorDash provides, they'd realize they can adjust the 100% markup, which is seemingly a mistake - considering it makes you "add" it to the cart twice. Shows $8.75 on the menu and then when you select it, you have a mandatory selection option of another $8.75 - doubling what you're paying. I know exactly how to fix it, but was met with rude service when I tried to offer my free advice to help increase their business. So I'll spend my money elsewhere! read more

The we ordered the Gyro Special and Beef Sandwich which were cooked perfectly. The fries were piping hot and actually had salt on them so there wasn't that hunt for the salt packets. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and they got our order started right away. Now the prices were a bit on the high side, but everything is getting expensive now so it was still worth it. Inside was extremely clean, there was an employee actively cleaning the tables as soon as someone got up. The sun didn't bother your eyes because of the shades were drawn, but it was plenty bright in there. They have some outdoor seating, but it was too hot and the sun was beating down on them. Their pizza by the slice is not worth it. Got 2 slices recently and the crust was like soggy bread. Almost had to use a spoon to scoop it up. On top of that, the price for one slice of pizza was $4.00. For 2 slices plus tax and their credit card fee, you can almost buy a whole pizza elsewhere. I like it here, I go here often. Now you might be wondering... why only 3 stars then? Well, it's funny you should ask. I'm only giving it 3 stars, because the one thing almost everyone gets every single time is made with little to no effort. Fries. With the way the counter is set up, you can see exactly what they're doing -- and not doing. In this case, they precook their fries well in advance and just drop individual orders as you come in. I have no doubt this is faster and less waste for them. However, it makes for a substandard fry. These fries NEVER have enough salt and the primary reason is because fries will only grab hold of that salt immediately after cooking and all they're doing for you is reheating them in the oil. I've been to Franky's more than I'd like to admit. And it's closer than I wish it was.. But out of everything that Franky's has to offer (they have every fast food imaginable, btw) - the one thing I crave here the most is the Gyro. I'm not sure I've had a better gyro anywhere else. And granted I don't eat them often, but when you get that food flashback of something; a happy one - you never forget it. And that's what this gyro does to me. I LOVE their meat and they give you plenty of it. Always sliced fresh & hot on a soft pita. Yumm. Another fave here; fries. Some days are better than others but if I get em on a great day, their perfect ..like double fried. No other french fry has made this impression on me. Their menu has every fatty shove in your mouth food you could want. Some items are better than others. Burgers are ok, beefs are aiiright. I heard the dogs aren't very snappy. Pizza is meh. No one can really screw up a Pizza puff (though I haven't indulged in ages). The best thing about Franky's has to be the awesome daily specials. People love specials.
