Best sandwich I have eaten in a while. Quality meats, cheeses, and bread. Went there for lunch on our visit to Idaho. Good Golly, the Carolina pulled pork sandwich is perfection....P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N! I order it most every time I visit and, as if it were possible, it just gets better. I also buy my meats here. Their selection is very good and the cuts are of high quality. However, may I suggest that all workers who handle the meats wear gloves and change them after they've handled money or other non-food items. Also, the meat counter guy with the long beard needs a beard net. Sanitation is so important in food handling....especially raw meat. Even if you wash your hands a lot, it just isn't safe touching meats with bare hands. read more

It's a small place with a butcher shop and sandwich shop combined. Lots of high quality, but expensive raw meat - Snake River Farms, and others. The is limited space for eating in, so I'd recommend take out. If you sit at the one, high, uncomfortably narrow table in the middle of the cramped space, expect to be jostled from behind and part of the conversations of your 4 closest neighbors. I made the mistake of getting a "smoked" BBQ brisket sandwich. The roll was good, but the brisket was dried out and thinly sliced, with no smoke flavor other than the liquid smoke in the barbeque sauce. Meatloaf cheeseburger with bacon? You gotta try this. Best meaty style lunch I've had and the service is fast. A few tables inside a couple outside. On a busy day or rush hour you may have to wander over to the river park benches to find a seat. It's worth it. First time visiting here. I will share the good first before the bad. It looks clean, deli cases are beautiful, it's got a good variety, and easy to read menu. I just got my sandwich, which is not on the menu. A Reuben. Made with Pastrami on rye with 1000 island dressing and Swiss cheese. I asked the staff if that was accurate because Reubens are made from Corned Beef and she said yes and that Pastrami and Corned Beef are the same. WHAT!?!?! I explained that "well, they weren't the same...". I mean, I understand you can do a Pastrami Reuben but they're not the same meat. I think the girl was taken aback by my response. I then just asked her for a Pastrami sandwich on rye, yellow mustard and Provolone. I ordered the bow tie pasta and a can of Sprite. Paid, about $11.00. A bit pricey but I needed to taste what these people consider a pastrami sandwich. It was fantastic! She completely rocked it. Now, as a chef and previous deli owner in Calif. I know a good meat. These guys do their curing in house. Good job. Lean, tender, seasoned right. All good. Provolone fresh, sharp flavor, perfect amount of yellow mustard on a marble rye. I'd have done a Jewish corn rye but hey. Griddle toasted and buttered right. Perfect. The sandwich was a 5 star. The pasta salad had great flavor but was juuuuust under Al Dente. Needed about 1 and 1/2 minutes more in the water then it would have been done perfectly. But overall, a 3.7946023. ;) Coke did a good job on the Sprite. Easy to open can, good bright colors, lime flavor perfectly balanced with the lemon. Lots of fizz in the nose. Fresh. Probably a 2019 year. Full-bodied, smoooooth. Great belchistic potential. Now for the bad. Again, another local shop that does not know how to manage the intake and ordering process. No signs, no directions, no ticket number, nothing. People behind the counter looking on without helping us lost sheep out. No one said "hi, we'll be right with you, we'll take your order from here in just a moment". Nothing. The man at the cash register stood there, blank. Not helping. Just waiting for us to tell him what we ordered. The area seems to be lacking in good help. No signs saying order here. No ticket system with numbers so as to keep the guests in order. Not easy instructions. The staff had to finally explain everything once it was my turn. I did tap the woman who was there before me to ask her if she was ordering because she was wandering around looking lost. Like me. But the staff heard me ask and then, and only then, jumped in to offer information. These are fixable if the owner addresses them. A ticket system, educating the staff, reading reviews. All things that can fix this problem. Overall though, because of the amazing food, I would give this a 4.5. I was very impressed and will both recommend, and return. And, they are a full service butcher shop with some awesome looking cuts. Try them out. In closing, I went to the person that made my sandwich and gave her HUGE kudos for an amazing meal. She was thankful, humble, and relieved I'm sure. I raved about her sandwich and thanked her. read more

High quality products and food. But steaks definitely worth the trip but know it's a Bit pricey. Why I give it 4 stars. Service for customers waiting in line needs work are better staff training. Last two times we have been in we were skipped in the line and felt ignored...and it's not clear even though they put out an ORDER HERE sign no one seemed to be following it. Went to Porterhouse for the first time yesterday 2/14 for some wedding anniversary steaks. As a customer I felt invisible, no welcome, all we saw was employee backs. When we went up to the meat counter i was honestly not sure if the staff had even noticed our arrival. Turns out an employee did and in my opinion was polite while interacting with us. His service was efficient and the steaks were amazing once we got them off the grill. No complaints, high quality meat. Is it worth a constant drive from the North End? Eh not so much, but worth a try if you don't mind dismissive customer service or happen to be in the area. read more

Yes, it's a bit pricey. In my opinion, you are paying for the quality, not because it's a butcher shop in Eagle. In addition to the butcher block, which has all sorts of beef cuts, pork, chicken, seafood, lamb, sausage, they have a full service deli with sandwiches, soups, salads, pastas and desserts. There are also selections of bottled and canned drinks, wines, and other various items to help you season and complete a meal at home. Check out the discount box on the bottom shelf of the freezer. There's always something good in there. Most notable items for me include the Grinder sandwich with a side of orzo and feta salad, the ground chuck, which they have a big sale on once a year, and the ribeye steak. All I needed was some salt and pepper and my charcoal grill. It turned out the best steak I've ever eaten. You can buy your Traeger pellets here, too. Dave always has something smokin' out front. This review is for their lunch menu as I have not tried their other offerings yet. If you are lucky enough to have lunch there during their 11-2 sandwich times, you are in for a real treat! The two sandwiches I have tried (the grinder and the southwesterner) were absolutely delicious! There wasn't a single taste bud that wasn't satisfied. Close to corporate office I grabbed a quick sandwich here. The Kansas City brisket was amazing. Lean tender slices of beef brisket with a sweet KC style BBQ sauce. We've been here several times in the last year, and everything we've tried has been excellent. One visit included ordering a bagful of sandwiches for company we had visiting. Everything was spot-on, orders were correct. Everyone was pleased. We've also had their deli-sliced meats, pulled pork by-the-pound, seaweed salad, cookies and soups. Our favorite soup is the Cioppino: light tomato-based, filled with chunks of fresh fish & plenty of tasty veggies and seasonings. The best deal on the soup (by far!) is the 32-ounce, so get extra to take home. It's a little bit too expensive for us to enjoy every day, but it is nice when we want something special. read more

We saw this place driving by and thought we'd try it. Decided to buy some chicken from the deli. The girl behind the counter made no attempt to ask if I needed help and when I made contact with her, she just looked at me with a blank stare as if I annoyed her for talking to her. She appeared as if she did not want to be bothered. When we got home, I found a long blonde hair in the chicken I bought from there and couldn't bring myself to eat it. There was also a male employee working there and he was very friendly. It's too bad I had a negative fist experience. Looks like it could be a great place to shop. My husband and I love to eat lunch at Porterhouse. We have eaten there numerous times and have yet to try something we even somewhat dislike. Their sandwiches are amazing. I love to try their daily specials. All their soups have great flavor. Everything is very fresh and high quality. Porterhouse is such a great part of Eagle! Everything I have eaten at Porterhouse has been excellent! The fresh deli is filled with lots of choices, delicious made to order sandwiches , loaded baked potatoes salads and a wide array of other delectable goodies .If you have a sweet tooth, their lemon bars are even better than mine ( seriously ) .They also have a well stocked meat counter. Don't forget they make homemade chicken pot pies ( look in their freezer ). I was lucky enough to walk in yesterday as they had just finished making their Barbeque Chicken. I've eaten at this deli 4 times this week. The food is amazing! The staff is wonderful and it's run by a great family. I've had their Rueben (best pastrami I've ever eaten), Italian sub....so so good, TunaMelt (my fave so far) and Baconcheeseburger (best meatloaf ever!!! and it comes with bacon! We've bought everything from custom meat products made in house to sandwiches and soups, to Kobe beef from Snake River Ranch, etc. And if you've never had a Kobe beef hotdog, you've missed out on something special! On top of the quality of the products, we have always received top notched, friendly service. Dave has put together a staff that is friendly and professional, who obviously enjoy their job.
