WHY WE WENT HERE: - work lunch THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - located on the triangle corner of Broadway St, W 6th St, and Commercial St - limited parking lot parking, but available street parking THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - hole in the wall joint - order and pay first, seat yourself, food is brought to your table (if dining in) THE MENU: - sandwiches - other items - sandwich combo's - Porster Street special's - just the meats - sides - drinks WHAT I ORDERED: - chili sourdough bread bowl THE TASTE: - toasted sourdough was better than the chili - chili could have had more textures and flavors; pretty one-note and very heavy CUSTOMER SERVICE: - warm and welcoming

Very good place to go eat ribs. Staff is great. Best service, the food at Porter Street barbecue is very good.

Beef rib, hot pink, and 1/4 lb of tri tip
Jeremy L.

This place was recommended to us by someone from our moving company so had to try it. I sampled some meats. Tri tip (5): the lady at the counter said anything tri tip is what to get here. I agree. Their tri tip is thinly sliced and super flavorful and tender. Had it in a sandwich and a la carte. They have a nice condiments bar so you can top your sando with anything you like. Get the tri tip! Beef rib (4): this was good but definitely not the standout. Hot link (3): pretty standard fare here. They did sprinkle some of their rub on it which I thought wasn't needed. Clam chowder (4): worth a mention. Theirs is super creamy and thick. Good number of clams inside too. The people here were very down to earth and it seemed a lot of locals like this place. I didn't get much smoke flavor on any of their meats but the tri tip was excellent. Overall, would come here again just for their tri tip!

The place was empty, so empty I didn't think it was even open....but we were greeted right as we walked in by a friendly young lady... there were a couple young guys in the kitchen area. My husband and I ordered the Dank burger that comes with tri-tip and a burger patty... both were dry and salty to me... I did put a heated up bbq sauce on it which helped moisten it up a bit Since it was so quiet in there, and all that was there was the younins working, you could hear them talking about their days and how they were quitting one job and working another and profanities back-and-forth wasn't too enjoyable neither .

The Dank Burger, courtesy of my new iPhone 16 that one of the gals working there graciously helped me learn how to use.

First of all, I wanna give the staff 10 stars across the board. Absolutely lovely, delightful, fun, helpful and informative. I got the Dank Burger. I got barbecue sauce and thousand island on the side and the meat alone does not need a sauce. But I'm excited to enjoy it both ways. Macaroni salad was a great addition to this burger. Like if you forgot to make something last minute, come get some of that for your picnic or potluck. I will definitely be back to try more things.

Tri tip and potato wedges
Natasha R.

I love PSB - the Heart Attack specifically is one of my favorite sandwiches of all time. This time I also ordered a pound of tri-tip and potato wedges for my kids to share. I was not a big fan of the wedges but my kids loved them. The inside of the restaurant was much cleaner than I remember in years past. The service was great - friendly and quick.

Recommend the tri tip. It's cooked right outside. No thrills or frills, just simple, grilled beef with some great barbecue sauce.

We looked at the reviews here on Yelp! and were a bit worried at the low overall rating. Well, rest assured, we had a good meal and enjoyed our visit. My wife had the filet mignon, while I ordered the rib eye. I asked our waitress about upgrading to the pricier dry aged rib eye, and she surprisingly talked me out of it saying the regular rib eye was really good. She was right. The combination of the grilling and the buttery sauce was delicious. It didn't need any additional sauce, but out of curiosity I tried the house sauce that was on the table, and it was quite nice. For some reason, they have a Tesla coil (from the original Tesla, not the car company) and they fired it off while we were there. They give plenty of notice before they do as it makes a loud sound and sparks fly about the device. It was interesting. So, if you're in town and looking for a good steak, give this place a try.

2 of 2 Yelp reviews…read more Quality/Quantity - A suggestion from Humboldt Bay Provisions and a home run! Today we got the following: Spicy Garlic Chicken Fries - #1 seller, so I have to try. Boy have I been eating so unhealthy on this trip, but you know that because you are following. Is that part of the reason I am having so much fun? This did not disappoint. I did not think it was very spicy, but my daughter said it was too spicy for her. Good thing she ordered the mild version of garlic chicken; see below. Decent portions. Garlic Chicken - A more mild version of the above. But with rice and mac rather than fries. A slightly healthier version. Ahi Poke Bowl - My wife's choice. Generous portions, especially the tuna; thank you. Because this is raw, we "forced" ourselves to finish this dish first. So good. And to wash it down, supporting local, Sticky Finger IPA. Ambiance - Small local business. The food truck was parked in the rear of the building. Due to the rain, I did not take pictures. Plenty of mall parking. Open 5 days a week, 11:30am to 7pm; closed on Monday and Tuesday. Service - Counter service. Overall okay. Price - $62 + tip. Reasonably priced as we pretty much took an entree to-go. We are light eaters. Owner Comment - Aloha, congrats on your success since 2017; we will be back!

Moving forward, I am going to try and order dinner dishes to raise the rating.

The corn masa cake base was delicious, and it was not over fried. The ground beef was seasoned very well, the veggies gave it a nice pop of freshness. The cheese was great, and I especially loved the sauce. The sauce just brought it all together. There was a little pile of jalapeño, onion, and carrot in the middle. I didn't touch the jalapeño. I tried the carrot and the onion, but they were too spicy for me. Not a big deal. It was a nice lite lunch, and with soda, tax and tip, the price was very reasonable. I definitely want to come back and try more items off of this menu. Thank you.

The first hiccup, was the restaurant is less than 10 minutes from our place, yet from the time I ordered to the time the food came, it was just under an hour. Plus, it was after lunchtime on a Saturday, which should've meant that the place should have been less busy That's a long wait for a short distance. The food itself was pretty good. My first order was the cod, fritters. The flavor was good. I could definitely taste the cod. What I didn't care for, was the texture. They were pretty gummy. I don't know if that's how they are supposed to be or not, but I was not a fan of the texture. They did come with a red sauce for dipping, but it was a bit too spicy for me. On the other end of the spectrum, however, was the curried goat, which I loved. I called ahead to ask if it was spicy, and they said, not really. And they were right. It wasn't really that spicy. It was a mellow spice that made my forehead sweat just a little bit, but well within what I like for spicy. The flavor itself was fantastic. The goat was bone in, but it was so tender. It was literally falling off the bone. Goat can be gamey, but this wasn't. It had a nice mellow flavor. There was also a gravy, which had a deep, rich flavor, and the rice had a good texture and a nice flavor also. It didn't taste like plain white rice. Overall, even with the delivery cost, the price was very reasonable. I would definitely order from here again, but the next time I would go into the restaurant instead of doing delivery. Also, while I liked the flavor of the cod, fritters, next time I would order something else. Thank you so much for an overall good meal.
