Was excited to find a new bbq place in the Poconos, especially with the great reviews I've been seeing on social media. Unfortunately, this place didn't live up to the great reviews I read. Maybe it was just a bad day? Or maybe I should've heeded to the bad reviews? I was contemplating about whether to give this place 1 star or 2 stars, but I decided to give 2 stars because the person working at the counter was super nice and super patient. ***In a rush? Skip to the end for my tips.*** First of all, there was so many items not available. Many items were crossed off the menu, which was fine because we were there for the bbq. But then, for the ribs, they only had rib pieces for combos, no half racks. They didn't have collard greens. They had briskets, but they were cold, so they wouldn't have been good. So, we ended up ordering the Pitmaster combo, but had to substitute the brisket because it was cold. So, we got 2 pieces of ribs instead. Luckily, we were able order and get the pork belly. And then, we were accidentally charged for half a chicken, but they don't do refunds. So, we decided to just eat the chicken, but they didn't have any chicken left, so we patiently chose to substitute it with ribs, but then, they ran out of ribs, too, so we substituted it with pork belly. Also, the sides were not good at all. The cornbread was dry and crumbly. The mac and cheese was horrible. It was simply undercooked pasta with lukewarm cheese sauce poured over it. It was almost inedible. And, the coleslaw was terrible. These are all important sides that you would expect to be good at barbeque joint, but they were all disappointing. If the bbq was amazing, all would be forgiven, but the bbq was just okay and what made it worse was that the food was at best lukewarm, not hot at all. Supposedly there was something wrong with keeping the food hot? But this definitely didn't help to alleviate the already bad experience. Maybe if the food was hot, it would have tasted better. The person working was super apologetic and was trying to be super accommodating, so despite our frustration, we tried to be understanding and patient. The same thing happened to another customer and she also tried to be less frustrated because the person working was so apologetic. One good thing were the sauces, especially the one that starts out sweet but ends up being spicy. All their sauces were good, especially if you mix them all together. And, we went at lunchtime on a Saturday, which would normally be a busy day and time for businesses, but there were so many things unavailable. They said that there would be more food available for dinner, so hopefully the dinner crowd were able to order what they wanted. Supposedly they opened recently and it seems like they are still working out the kinks. Maybe I'll give this place another chance a year later when they get everything figured out, but for now, will have to continue the search for a good barbeque place in this area. Tips: - They don't give refunds, so please make sure that your order is correct before you pay. Or even double check that they have what you want before you pay if you don't want to be thinking of substitutions. - Or you should call ahead of time to see what food is available beforehand. - You get free refills for the fountain drinks. - For ordering, you order at the counter and then, they bring your food to your table. It seems like they also have a pager system that they might use when it's busy. - It is a bit of a wait to get your food, so please be patient and hopefully you are not in a rush. It even says on their receipt "Please be patient due to staff shortage its not the employees fault and its not the restaurants fault, Thank you for your patience." - There is outdoor and indoor seating. - They had 3 sauces, but they were not labeled. The red one seemed to be hot sauce and the brown one seemed like barbeque sauce. And first of all the barbecue here is absolutely phenomenal. My personal favorite is the brisket, but the chicken ribs and pulled pork follow really closely behind.. the sides are amazing as well and the staff are amazing. Not to mention that they were courteous and friendly and the atmosphere is sort of like a log cabin. I don't understand all these positive reviews we were there on Sunday not a bad place clean nice atmosphere but the ribs and chicken were disgusting I ordered the rib and chicken dinner for $23 I believe it was came up with three giant ribs that were black and lukewarm And was one large chicken breast that was dry and black actually it was on edible this guy is no pork that's for sure and my opinion I have eaten a lot of barbecue and make my own and this stuff was pretty bad his sides were good though cheese and the fries And staff was friendly but that's as far as it goes that's why I gave him two stars read more

The vibe of this place is great. It's a very casual ambiance but very clean, comfortable, and open. Their outdoor seating has two options: covered and uncovered, with comfortable picnic tables and ample yard space and pretty surrounding foliage. Food is also great! We had a bit of everything. Having lived in Texas for 5 years plus having been there for at least 10 years previously, I was glad to join 2 friends for lunch today. They had brisket which was moist. I had the ribs which were 2 giant pork ribs. I was expecting smaller ones but these were tasty. Between the 3 of us, we had baked bean, potato salad, and coleslaw as sides. The baked beans were a bit different with ground beef included. The potato salad had an added charge of $1 which was not mentioned on the menu. It did seem to have some meat in it but as compared to the beans, not sure why there was an up charge. I did have enough to bring home for dinner. They have recently reopened under new management. They do not have desserts nor the typical Texas sides of pickles, jalapeños and bread. They do have beer and wine. You order at the counter and pay. They bring the food to you. In talking with the manager after, be aware that they do not over prep food. So if you show up on Sunday, you may find some items unavailable. My rating of 4 is based primarily on comparison to real Texas barbecue. read more

After using Yelp for 10 years, I was finally compelled to write my first review. Literally the worst food I've ever had in my life. Not the worst bbq, the worst food. Period. The fact that this place at the time of writing this has 4.5 stars is truly disturbing. $70 for the following- Cornbread: no taste/taste like uncooked batter Burger: literally a frozen patty on bread. While on vacation, family had a hankering for BBQ and P.A. was the closest BBQ joint. Saw some lack luster reviews on here but decided to give it a shot anyway. We were pleasantly surprised. The BBQ is solid having tried the ribs, brisket and chicken. Cornbread was definitely their weakest link but it was not the worst we've ever had. Service was good and the employee who helped us (possibly the owner) was very pleasant and slightly eccentric(but in a good way). I loved this place! It's hard to get the guts to take a chance on a new place (especially one that's changed hands so many times), but I'm so glad I did! The ribs were really, really tender, and the spicy rub was friggin' amazing. The waffle fries were also really good - my mom got their cole slaw and said it was fantastic, but tbh I didn't try it myself. Looked good though! The young guy at the counter and the one working the BBQ (owner?) were both really nice and very friendly. You also get a huge amount of ribs, it took me 3 days to eat all of them! We try to patronize "mom and pop" locations when possible. I'd rather give our hard-earned dollars to another small business, rather than line the pockets of some big chain. Most of the time we find decent service, and often a real gem . . . this place was neither. We arrived on a summertime Friday evening about 4:45pm. It should have been a red flag that no one was dining in. There was one unhappy take-out customer waiting when we arrived. We had traveled a distance, so we rolled the dice and placed an order. Our order consisted of two sandwiches and the "Pitmaster Combo." The order took 50 minutes to be ready. When it did arrive, the meat in both sandwiches was stone cold and the Pitmaster had completely different meats than what was ordered. We understand that every establishment can have an "off" night. However, we were told we were waiting because they were working on a catering order (which they stated was also running late). The quality of the bbq was lackluster. However, the sides were disgusting. The coleslaw was just cabbage and mayo--no zip or zing to be found. The "cornbread" was unpalatable. It had too much flour, and was dusted with cinnamon, which was off-putting at best. We left nearly all of it. Our son ordered carrots with his sandwich, which were both cold and rubbery (think thawed frozen carrots). The mac and cheese was the only hot side, but it appeared to be straight out of a "US Foods" plastic bag. It was uncreative. Though everyone was pleasant, the atmosphere seemed like a place that had been happening a long time ago, and is fizzling out. To their credit, it was clean, except for a toilet we could not figure out how to flush despite the hand-written directions. We WANT small businesses to be successful, so in case the owners peruse these reviews, here are a few tips. Don't cater and offer dine-in service if you cannot staff both or handle both types of orders. Your BBQ was decent, a bit unoriginal, but worth eating. Serve it HOT. Offer more sauce options. Choose two or three great cuts of meat and focus on doing those well. Limit your sides to a few traditional veggies, then the deep fried foods customers prefer with bbq. Stick to a traditional cornbread. If you wish to have a bar (which looked inviting in its design), staff it. If you have posted hours, honor them. Make it clear to customers if you are providing table service or not. We had food brought out to us, but then the server left the tray on the table like it was our problem. Last, we tried you out because of your billboard, but I'd rather you had spent your cash on the quality of product before advertising yourself. Really disappointed with Pork Authority after they catered my friend's wedding. They brought dinner about an hour late after not bringing the correct lunch options earlier in the day. When my friend raised these issues with them after the wedding they were very rude and refused to take responsibility. Food was okay, but I'd avoid eating here. I tried giving this place some business for a weekend long local wedding . I am a local resident and we wanted to keep all food from local restaurants. I was in the restaurant on Saturday July 30 hoping to place an order for BBQ by the pound that is offered on the menu in the restaurant. I left without ordering and returned on Sunday July 31 trying to place and order and was told by both employees on Sunday that I needed to email my order. When I was emailed a quote the prices were much different from the prices on the menu for BBQ by the pound. I did NOT use Pork Authority for the wedding weekend because the service just trying to order the food was difficult and the conversation with Cathrine on the phone was extremely unprofessional. My wife and I have been going here for the last two years, since they opened. We were there grand opening. We had a very nice tall blonde girl as our waitress, she was very attentive, and very very fun to talk to. One night we went in to have dinner and noticed this man in glasses (he looked way way older), he looked to be saying some extremely inappropriate things to girl, by her facial expressions she looked very uncomfortable. I am a childrens psychiatrist, I know when something is wrong by body language. I feel like as a woman I should have done something to stand up for her. This is a place that has changed hands several times over the years and now has the potential to be pretty good but they're going to have to implement a number system or pager system for busy times. Our first experience with this restaurant was a comedy of errors that we probably should have demanded reimbursement for but we did all receive food eventually so it wouldn't be right not to pay. Our party was 4 adults and 3 kids. One kid was served and finished eating way before anyone else got anything and then the kid bringing food out had no idea what went to whom. One member of our group waited so long for his food that he ended up taking it to go. We had to beg for napkins, silverware snd drinks. The food was fine, but nothing to write home about. Ribs were over seasoned and could have been more tender. Clams came out with several unopened ones and we had no fork so the good ones were cold before we could eat them. Nothing bothers me more than having bad things to say about a restaurant. But I hope my criticism does not go unheeded by the owner/chef. On the positive side, I thought the ribs were super meaty and smoked to perfection. They were so meaty that three bones filled me up so I made three meals out of a full rack. The waffle fries were excellent and I really enjoyed the selection of homemade sauces they offered you. The ribs were also extremally fall off the bone tender without falling off the bone, just the way I like it. I made three visits to the Pork Authority and every time they were out of the stuff on the menu, specifically pork belly. I also had issues with the sides, which I think are as important as the BBQ and should not be treated as an after thought. First, the Mac and Cheese was awful. It lacked flavor and cheese. And they charge more for it as a side, adding insult to injury. They were out of Collard Greens and green bean casserole all three times. The coleslaw was just OK. The cucumber salad needed more than the strong flavor of vinegar. My suggestion is work on your sides and offer something more than just OK. To switch things up on my second visit I had the brisket sandwich with coleslaw on the side. Problem with the sandwich? I didn't taste the brisket. All I tasted was the roll. My suggestion, give a smaller roll to give the illusion of a packed sandwich. Or just add more brisket. The sandwich barely contained two layers of brisket. I would be willing to pay more for a fuller sandwich. I wasn't expecting Kat's Deli thick, but my sandwich looked like the lunch some of my classmates used to bring to school with only one or two slices of cold cuts between the bread. These are the meals that stop people from coming back. This restaurant is only open three days a week and has a limited menu which is good. So you would expect everything to be stocked and ready to serve from the menu. Being out of so many things all the time is amateurish to say the least or this owner just does not know how to run a proper food establishment. The worst thing you can do is have a customer make a special trip to your restaurant and they have to ask you, what do you have on the menu. read more
