    Smashburger

Located on the outskirts of Sarasota near I75, the PopStroke is an upscale mini golf experience that is fun for all ages. The business is well run and the staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is under roof and open to the two 18 hole mini courses. I ordered a Smash-burger (two 4 oz patties on a hamburger bun) with pub chips. The burger was served hot at the temperature ordered. It was juicy and delicious. If I were to pick a bit, the bun absorbs the juice and the bottom disintegrates. A more hardy, grilled bread would likely work better. In all, this restaurant stands on its own as lunch destination.

I came here for the first time and was not disappointed. I heard that they were opening one close to Miami so I'm happy about that. This was really nice. We came to bring the kids to hang out and have a good time. I thought it was going to be ridiculously packed but it was ok. We sat at a table while our older kids (teens) went to go golf. I was a big fan of ordering on the phone. When we sat down the waitress came and explained the process. She brought us waters and we ordered on the phone. I paid Apple Pay which I liked. The food came out super fast and was actually very good. The drink selection was fantastic'! Their margaritas were super good. They also had a nice beer selection. We went downstairs after to watch the kids and have one more drink. The kids had a blast and then played some foosball near where we were. The ambiance was chill and they had many tvs up with different sport games on. On the way out we were able to grab some ice cream. So basically a whole experience. Totally worth coming here on a day off. With or without kids.

Took my angel out here for meeting her AR Goal and man did we have fun! We went through every hole and had a great time. Food was amazing and I like that you can order everything through your phone. Staff are very helpful and even bring drinks out to you to every hole if you order them. Would recommend even to people who do not play golf

Had a great time! Great atmosphere, really nice set up. The system in which you order is different but in a good way. Went to play putt putt ... it can get a bit crowded but still fun. Ordering drinks while playing was a def plus.

I loved this putt putt experience! This was a very interesting take on it, where it feels like a true putting experience on the course. Similar to top golf where there is food and beverage available for purchase. I like how much you get for your money. The courses are long - and you are able to do both of them however many times you want! The bartenders were very nice and they can even bring drinks to you on the course if you scan the QR codes. I had fun and would go back. It was nice to go in the evening when it was cool outside.

We had a blast!! To address the criticisms: - yes there's no shade. Trees are young - yes it gets crowded at night - yes restroom capacity is limited - yes they need another set of cup holders around the green so you don't have to walk back to every tee! - yes a few more garbage cans would help - having NO air conditioning in the dining & bar areas is a big miss. Fans are nice but blowing 90 degree air doesn't help much. We were there in the late afternoon so we missed the crowds - an issue which they need to address in a group size limit - just break up groups larger than 6 or 8 into smaller sets! The Red course was the more difficult (the more child friendly is the Black course) and being all adults we went that route. Tough course! Fun! The place sports three bars - one rooftop, one main dining area and a tiki bar in the center of the course (it was not open yet). We ordered drinks to start, the had another round delivered on course - ordered via the app After our round we headed to the restaurant & main bar for an early dinner. Food was good bar fare...an upside surprise. We'll be back.

Came here for the Sarasota PopStroke Tournament in May with my boyfriend. The red course is pretty tough and few opportunities to get hole in ones. Ample seating. There's an upstairs area, but it was closed for most of the day, there's not much shade up there anyways. The food was pretty good. I enjoyed the smash burger the most. It's the perfect small size burger for me. If extra hungry you can get a double. The fries were the most disappointing thought. They needed to be fried for more time. For each day we're there they were always soft and not crispy. They flavor was just OK for the fries.

Can't say we had a bad time at PopStroke. I also can't say it was the most fun we have ever had though too. I will however say that the naked chicken wings I ordered were some of the best I have ever had in my entire life. I'd go back just for those, ha! When you go to PopStroke you pay $30 for a full day pass. Access to 2, 18 hole putting greens... Not sure if that's a good value or not, but by the time we finished our second round of 18 holes, PopStroke was packed to the BRIM, so I could see people stopping for lunch and then attempting to go out for a 3rd round but then being scared off by the crowds/waiting. We got there around 10:30am so we beat a little of the rush before mid-day but around 12pm it got really busy. Not sure I'd go back to PopStroke over any other put put place, but it was a nice outing during the week between XMAS and NEW YEARS where people are left wondering WTF to do. Ha Ha!

This was where my son wanted to go as part of his birthday festivities. Pros: -well maintained -friendly bar staff on the course -loved how the "sand traps" were easy to work with Cons: -having beverages easily delivered to your hole made it easy for participants to get sloshed on the course -no one to regulate inebriated guests to move along on the course (One guy "lost" his ball and his party all looked for it for 5 mins. It was in his pocket. Another party would stand on the green while ordering drinks then wait for them without moving aside so other could play through.) -front desk staff talked to themselves about how much longer they had of their shift before being acknowledged -not enough shade for Florida sun while waiting for a hole This place seems fun. Beautifully designed, great outdoor activity, and the idea of playing a round, eating and hydrating, then playing more is great. It just needs a few tweaks to make it run smoother. Because of those more worried about what drink to have at each hole, or large parties (one group had 11 people waiting for each person to sink their hole before moving on), it took us 2 hours and 48 mins to finish a round of putt putt.

What a fun concept for kids and adults! I love the idea of it but feel like once more people know about this place, things could get hairy. $25 for all day play for adults, not too shabby at all. I wonder if they really allow you to stay from open to close or crack down? They have two courses....black and red. Red is the more difficult hence had more adults. I was with family so we did black (and my niece ended up kicking butt so go figure!) My beef is with the efficiency end of it. Everyone starts at #1 then continues on from there which makes sense. But not on a Saturday night when there's a lot of larger parties. You have to wait for the parties in front of you to finish the hole then move on. It's a lot of waiting. There's a bar strategically placed in the middle. Genius! You can also download the app to get drinks delivered to toy. No one seems to be enforcing bringing you own water, soda or bevvie either so that may be an option if you want to be a loner. They have drink stands at each hole so you can set it down before you tee off. But then you have to walk back and get your drink. First world problem? Yes but just an observation. If you have to scoot to the restroom and you're at home 7 out of 18, there's no easy way to get over there! You have to walk through or around someone's game and it's awkward. Speaking of the restroom, dude. It's bad, they onesie bathrooms, what gives?? With the volume of people they really need multi stall facilities so people don't have to miss out on their games and such. Besides my little observations, this is a cool concept and fun way to spend time with fam, see if a first date prospect is competition or just relax and be a kid again!

Big fans My wife and I have been anxious to check out the new Popstroke behind UTC. Only open for four days, we somehow managed to find ourselves close enough to swing by. I don't believe that was by accident. Our plan was to just stop by and take a look. There were so many people, so many having fun on the two golf courses. It really looked like fun, the holes so perfect looking, no windmills or loop-de-loops in sight. A test of actual putting skills. We went inside, also busy. I noticed they had ice cream and talked my wife into having some. My scoop of choice was their Caramel Caribou. We searched for a place to sit down, my wife finding a table in their first floor restaurant. We didn't quite realize that initially and set about enjoying our melting treats. On the table was a QR Code to download an app, to order food. As much as I don't like downloading things on my phone to order while I am actually sitting in a restaurant, I did. By now we had realized we were in their open air restaurant. We should order some food. Turned out the app showed us a menu, ordering is still in person. Which we did. After our ice cream appetizer, we got chicken wings, and enjoyed sitting and watching all the goings on. It even started to rain, people played on. We had a great time, glad we stayed a while instead of just taking a look. We will be back for a more proper visit, some golf, more food. We wish them all the success in the world. Big fans.

We were greeted immediately upon arriving and sat right away. Our server, Justin, arrived at our table immediately. He was very friendly, professional and sincere. And with OUT being annoying, was vigilant in getting our drink orders and then our food decisions. We chose the chicken fingers & fries app, 2 burgers and a Cobb salad. Justin then asked if we wanted all the food together or he'll wait 3 minutes after our chicken finger app. We chose for him to order our entrees after the app was delivered. LITERALLY, LITERALLY 30 seconds after he walked away from our table, our chicken finger appetizer was delivered. WAYYYYYY to quickly we all thought, and we were right. Both the chicken fingers and fries were BARELY warm! They basically just sent us out an order that was very obviously sitting under the warmer TOO LONG! Shame on them for 'selling' dead food. Justin came by and apologized and took the plate. After a few minutes, the plate came out again, NOT hot but warmer/hotter than the first one. Our entrees were delivered about 5 minutes later. The burgers were cooked perfectly to what we asked for and the salad was cold. Now the sides we ordered with our burgers: Sweet potato fries, NOT hot and crunchy and served with pieces of their fried Brussel sprouts on the bottom. The other burger had Onion Ring as a side. WARM, NOT HOT, soft not crunchy, and just overall nasty. We were hungry and I did not complain when Justin checked back with us. Overall, the problem was anything fried. So whoever worked the 'inside' and 'outside' kitchen windows obviously were just grabbing anything that they needed to 'sell'. Bathrooms were clean but this was the first time that I had bad food. I personally feel that this was a completely avoidable situation...and I blame kitchen staff for not taking the time to serve their normally very good food. There are soooooo many other restaurants now in the area, they can't afford to take short cuts with their food!

From our table, I could actually see my chicken sandwich sitting in the service window for quite some time before it was finally brought out. When the food arrived, the sandwich, fries, and cheese were all cold. I politely asked for the meal to be remade and inquired whether it would take another 30 minutes. Our server said they would get it out quickly and explained that they were busy. However, looking around the dining room, there were only a handful of occupied tables and two servers working. Several nearby tables were simply having drinks, so it was difficult to understand the delay. What was most disappointing wasn't even the cold food--it was the lack of acknowledgment. A simple apology or some communication about the delay would have gone a long way toward improving the experience. I understand that servers aren't responsible for cooking the food, but they do pass the service window regularly. If food has been sitting under the heat lamps for several minutes waiting on other items, someone should be checking on it or having it remade before it reaches the customer. We were hoping to add this restaurant to our list of regular dining spots, but based on this visit, it unfortunately didn't make the cut.
