First time in with other restaurant owners. We did not realize that this was a football haven - the Bills were playing the Chiefs and the place was packed inside and out and TVs were blasting and the crowd was (mostly Bills fans as the owner is from Buffalo) fully engaged and loud. Made it fun but not a quiet dinner spot! Staff and service were outstanding...and the food was very good. My grilled grouper was fresh, light and flaky and the unique quesadilla delicious. Hey alright - solid casual but trendy bar with a great ambiance and awesome outdoor seating and live music on weekends. I popped over with my sister around 6:30pm on a Friday night after completing a move nearby for a drink and some food and the place was packed! (In anticipation of the live music starting at 7pm). It seems a little understaffed for how crowded and busy it was, but solid all through - great area, food pretty good and what you'd expect from a nice bar. We shared and really enjoyed the Chorizo Nachos and Caesar Salad (not over-dressed - perfect). Great for evenings with a cold beer and sitting outside. Incredible food, fun atmosphere, excellent service! Heather took such good care of us and ensured our meal was perfect. Sliders were the best we've ever had! No joke. Fries and tots were all fantastic (if you don't like seasoning, ask for them plain as they heavily season their taters, which we love). We arrived on the last night of their Christmas themed event "Miracle at Tamiami Tap" and got a super cute dinosaur mug to go along with my drink! Date night ... one in a long time ruined by crappy service. Sat down at 6:05, the waitress complained how this is her second job (she is a financial advisor?) and she's "brain dead"... said "that's weird" when we asked for a lime with a Coors light. Checked in with the table next to us who was seated waaaay after us 5 times while never coming back to ask if we wanted an entree. We ended up estimating the bill and throwing $70 down and told some dude who could have cared less. Won't recommend and won't be back. I have been to the Tamiami Tap twice. The first time was for a Musical Show Tune music trivia night. I had a lobster roll. I should know better, but the serve sang its praise. I just forget that people in this area have no idea what an authentic lobster roll is any more than they can grasp the concept of a good crab cake. No, the lobster roll wasn't bad, but a rating over fine would be an over classification. The roll killed the roll, but the flavor didn't help. Not a value for the price but for the season not out of line. The service, I was seated at the bar, was friendly and attentive. The second visit was with a few family members to enjoy a beverage and the holiday decor. They did a nice job with the decorations but the pumped I'm music was so loud it made table conversation impossible. This is a fun place for group events but if you're looking for a great meal and conversation consider other locations. read more

I love this place! Not only the prices are fare, the staff is great and the owner is super sweet, but it's always interesting when there is some event or season celebration. Aside from regular occasions, I have been here for Super Bowl and for Christmas season and every year it just gets better and better. They have included so many great Christmas decorations throughout the place this year with also a super cool "snow" machine that brings a magical climate to the atmosphere. First time and loved it. Excellent selection of cold beers, both on tap and in cans. There is a very nice selection of wines, even bubbly options. The cocktails are a generous pour with some fun House suggestions. The menu really has a nice assortment of fresh menu options and we saw quite a few we wanted to come back and try. As we were sharing a late meal we tried their little house salad and the cheeseburger. The house salad had truly fresh greens, cherry tomatoes, fresh real bacon bits, assorted shredded cheeses and dressing of choice. It was refreshing and reasonable for $6.00. The cheeseburger was moist, with a perfect bun that held the burger. The extras added to the flavor and didn't distract from the burger. The fries are the delicious skinny fries and we asked for no seasoning and they were a perfect compliment to the burger. Totally coming back for another one and will not be sharing it. Having said all this, I must add the outdoor seating is inviting and the fans add to the comfort. Holiday lights are up and on this Friday night the live musician was talented and earned his tips. Service is friendly and they loved our dog too. Great spot to have a drink, hangout with friends and family or share a meal. Nice addition to our Sarasota late night scene. read more

Came here for brunch. It was not busy at all. When I checked in on Yelp it gave us a free appetizer so we had the Maple Bourbon Smoked salmon. It was delicious. Cooked perfectly and so tender. For the main entree we each for the Florida fruit bowl. When the waitress brought them over she said she ran out of regular croissant. So one plate had the plain croissant and one had a chocolate filled croissant. She put it down without even asking if that's okay. To be honest I really didn't want a CHOCOLATE croissant with my eggs. Kind of strange, I would have taken an English muffin. So that annoyed me. Other then that it was fine. read more

I can see why this place is rated so high. We went for lunch on Sunday (8/23) and had a amazing experience. We found Tamiami Tap on Yelp looking for dog friendly places to take our puppy. We started with the 3 Dip Appetizer and we were immediately impressed. The guacamole tasted fresh and well seasoned, the cheese dip was one of the best we found in Sarasota (Cheese dip or queso is a personal favorite of my wife's, and she loved it.). We would go back alone for the dips. The entrees were just as impressive. My son and I had the brunch tacos (very very good), my daughter had the fruit bowl with breakfast sausage, and my wife had the grilled chicken nachos. All were seasoned great, fresh, and large portioned. It's hard to find a place that has amazing food, large beer selection, and reasonably priced down town...or Sarasota. We will definitely become regulars. The only small issue I had, but shouldn't stop you from going, was my hash browns were a little soft. Would have preferred to have more of a crisp on some of the shreds. But since they were also well seasoned, it didn't impact the meal or worth mentioning while we ate. read more

Seemed like they were short staffed, like everyone these days because it took a while to be served at a table that we lived to the bar. Drinks were great at the bar and so were the prices. Came here after a late check in at our hotel when we drove in from south Florida. I searched somewhere that had vegan options and was pleasantly surprised by the options here. When we got to the restaurant, it was just before 10 pm and it's one of the few places that serves food until 2 am. The staff was super friendly and came to our table right away. There was live music and not too many other people seated inside. The decor is super cute and when the food came out, it was fantastic! We ordered the hummus as our free appetizer for checking in and then I got the Vegan Chicken Sandwich. I found it to be a little pricy but the food was totally worth it. My husband got the cheeseburger and said that was very good as well. He got fries with his and I got tots with mine. Tots are the way to go!! I noticed that they changed the menu from what's on Yelp and they also didn't have a few things available when we got there. Like the calamari and the vegan ice cream. That wasn't a big deal though, everything that we did get was great. For a free app, the hummus hit the spot! I would highly recommend stopping in here; if not for a drink, for the food or even for the atmosphere. You won't be let down. read more

Last night, we attended a wedding weekend welcome party here! We were scheduled from 7-9 but we all ended up staying past 10... they were gracious about it and kept the drinks flowing as we celebrated the bride and groom! There were signature margaritas but only a few were set out but there was no issues because the super cute bartenders were keeping up with this crowd. He even remembered my mom and my drink orders when I came back for a refill (or three... ) The food was really delicious - for appetizers, they did pas horderves of hummus cups with veggies, cheeseburger sliders, and single chicken tenders! Everything was delicious, my only comment was the hummus could have used one more veggie per cup. For dinner, there was a taco buffet! They had a salad (which was surprisingly spicy?), some grouper and vegan taco options that were already assembled as well as tortillas and beef, chicken, and pork as options for build your own tacos. At the end of the buffet was a variety of hot sauces, some of which looked to be local selections! The family brought in five-o donuts and the staff set them out beautifully in the center of the restaurant for our enjoyment. My only other critique of the night was that we ran out of water bottles by 9, but the bartenders just gave us cups of water instead (had to go back for a few refills of that as well!) All in all, a fantastic night and I look forward to going back for a regular meal!! read more

We came here with our 3 kiddos and the server and manager were so friendly!! The prime rib was terrific!! The kiddos got the Mac and cheese, they liked it but could do without the fancy breadcrumb topping- for the kids anyway! The dirt dessert is actually vanilla ice cream and Oreos, NOT dirt pudding (too bad!) Just an FYI. It was tasty, but for $5 I'd rather buy an entire tub of ice cream and some Oreos ;) It was a great experience! We will define back, kids in tow and for certain on a date night!
