I came in here yesterday with my husband. He ordered a $12 meal just for them to forget the pop. I noticed when he got in the car I'm like didn't you order a pop to (Cause I was there when he ordered) He said oh yea and proceeded to go back in and tell them , the one girl (African American) who took his order and remembered and proceeded to get him his drink THEY forgot and this girl here (White girl) says in front of all the customers "WAIT DID HE PAY FOR IT" excuse me? Back in Chicago and had to try another Italian beef sausage combo sandwich! I got x2 10 inch sandwiches dipped for my wife and I. I should have ask for the dip on the side because by the time I ate the sandwich it really soggy. That was all my fault... the sandwich was delicious and the beef just melts in your mouth. The service was fast our sandwiches came out quick. The outside of the place looks very welcoming and their menu is huge. This is a place that was recommended by a friend of mine that lived here for years. We enjoyed this sandwich the day after Charlie Kirk was assassinated so it served as comfort food in a time of mourning. We are all Charlie Kirk now! Hello, Just left your 103rd Kedzie store at 6:30 pm. on 12/13/25 Ordered a fish sandwich and watched as the male with the Santa hat on reached under his Santa hat with his gloved hand and rubbed, wiped or adjusted his hair or something under the hat and proceeded to make my sandwich with the same gloved hand. It appeared that the fingertips of the glove were missing. That was disgusting but motivating enough to never eat at Pops again after many years of doing so. I regret that I feel this way because I've always loved Pops food. I witnessed another incident at the same Pops some time ago but didn't make an issue of it. I gotta be real here. I used to love pops. I'd ride my bike up there as a kid for a beef and fries. Prices have gone up and the sandwiches are getting smaller. At this point I can just go to buona beef. At least I can get a bigger beef sandwich for the same price as pops. If you do go for something other than beef I recommend the corned beef. I have been going here for years. It was always a great place. Ordered 2 corn beef sandwiches . I opened it and they used the heel of the loaf of bread It was a thick hard heel I never been served anywhere the end of the loaf. So I called and thought I would at least get an apology but no she said was this a walk in order I said yes. So I repeated my complaint and she said we do not go through the loaf and pick out certain pieces she said I can call back at 11 tomorrow and talk to day manager that she was the manager on duty. I ordered through DoorDash for pops. I had the "pizza puff with fries, soda or juice box and a lollipop " lol except nothing of that sort arrived with the refrigerator chilled pizza puff I was served. The context is so misleading with the Juicy chicken tenders they claimed to have. They were flat and dry, something like those cheap chicken tenders you buy at jewel and can pop in the microwave, nothing juicy or crispy about that at all lol. Which to add they had some kind of green stuff on them I think it may have been mold. I asked for honey mustard and the bastards gave me mayonnaise!!! Which I mentioned I'm allergic to And she said oh well just get a refund. It would have been much bigger than a refund if I ate that mayonnaise ma'am. And she says oh yeah the order did say honey mustard but maybe someone just threw a different sauce in the bag. When I called the restaurant to express my concerns, some rude lady answered and she was soft spoken but sounded like she just "worked there" did not show any concern and told me to just get a refund with door dash and that door dash puts anything on the sight. It's complete false advertisement and I will never eat at this knock off restaurant. I will be calling the health department to have them inspected because I'm trying to understand why there was green stuff on that flat chicken wet and dry at the same time they served and tried to call juicy and crispy. Why did she feel the concern to not be concerned and after this review I do hope people stop giving you guys business. I was out visiting my sister in the Mt. Greenwood area, we decided on "Pop's Italian Beef" at 103rd & Kedzie. I got the juicy beef & sausage combo with sweet bell peppers and hot giardiniera, I was disappointed, it didn't have the "beefy" taste I remembered all these years and they were skimpy on the peppers. The counter staff were friendly and get you served quickly. I might give them another chance next time I visit my sister and see what happens. I have been here twice at the South Kedzie location. My father wanted two hot dogs with just extra onions, tomatos and a pickle. I wanted two hot dogs with everything minus the sport peppers. I have come back numerous times. Last time couldn't find parking. That makes sense, it was a Friday night around 7pm. So I just pulled into Jiffylube right nextdoor cause I needed an oil change. While they were working on my car, I got a beef sandwich and a soda. I know, it's weird that I say soda, I've lived in Chicago all my life, but I started working at a pizza place and they call pop, soda so I started to as well. Lately I've been craving a beef sandwich and sure enough somehow YouTube has picked up on my thoughts. So I've been getting videos suggested to me about Chicago food. The manager gets on the phone, hears me out and says it's going to cost them too much to do otherwise and confirmed that if I wanted to have what I wanted, I'd have to come back in and buy what I initially wanted. There was ZERO effort to rectify the situation and a certainty of ZERO concern as a manager. Says it comes with red sauce and while it technically does, the bread was still dry even after adding some. I gave this place three stars for a couple of reasons...the staff was so awesome and my girlfriend loved the food. I on the other hand was not amazed by Italian Beef it didn't have much flavor and it made me want my Al's Beef on Taylor street that much more. The place was very clean and one of the cashiers kept me laughing, The seasoned fries although .50 more then the regular ones were very good and I wished I had more.
