Blueberry Pancakes

Great little spot. Does not give chain vibes at all. Stopped by on a Saturday adventure and was not disappointed. The menu is pretty standard for a diner but I'm sad to report that mimosas are missing. Otherwise kids indeed eat free and there's a decent selection for picky eaters (looking at my own offspring here). All staff were very friendly, service was speedy and our server was able to make complicated adjustments to the our meal, true MVP. The food was great, so much so a to go box traveled home with me.

Two Egg Breakfast
Joey M.

Was on an animals without feet kick diet and decided on the classic two egg breakfast meal. The eggs were ordered and cooked perfectly over medium, fruit and 12 grain toast. The meal was fine but I can't understand why they only serve one piece of bread cut in half. Most restaurants serve up two slices of bread but not Pops. Again the meal was nice and the service was friendly as usual.

Something about Sunday morning screams waffles, and rather than going to the store to get the ingredients and pulling out my Belgian Waffle maker -I decided to go out to eat at a place that had been voted Best Waffles for nearly a decade (by the Virginia Pilot) - Pop's Diner Co. I would spot the bright yellow letters every time I drove down Northampton or visited Lynnhaven Mall and think I would try it out one day. Pop Diner's was opened in 2005 by two brothers who wanted to share the gift of homemade breakfast at any time in tribute to their father, Pop, who was renowned for making an incredible breakfast. The menu consists of breakfast, of course, and lunch items. Despite it being a holiday weekend, we sat down without a wait. I ordered the following: Corned Beef Hash Breakfast Classic Waffle Rump Shaker I requested the chef to grill the corned beef hash twice to give it an extra crispy texture - for a good mixture of salty and meaty. This classic breakfast has two eggs, toast, home fries, grits, or fruit. I ordered the scrambled eggs hard with cheese, a side of fruit, and an English muffin that I didn't even eat to save room for the main attraction - the waffle. The waffle was terrific--soft on the inside but nice and crispy on the edges. It was shaped like a flower, which definitely allows for a perfect crispy crunch in almost every bite. The Rump Shaker features Malibu, triple sec, pineapple, grenadine, and orange juice. It was refreshing. I definitely will be back, perhaps with my niblings (nieces/nephews), since kids eat free!

Morning Moon Sandwich

Pretty decent diner spot on a busy road, plenty of parking around the building. The Morning moon sandwich had fresh salsa although it needed some extra hot sauce added to it. The wait staff are very friendly and kept my coffee and water filled. Inside is a typical diner vibe, booths everywhere. Not much of a view though since its location doesn't provide one. All around good spot, would be back for more.

Its a nice and clean atmosphere. Love this place for breakfast or lunch. They also have a variety on their menu to choose from. Friendly staff and quick service. The waffles are the best.

There was no wait because there was ample staff so the table tuen was nice. Not much ambiance definitely a place to eat a good meal and leave. LARGE portions so come hungry. I also had a bloody mary, not my favorite bloody mary but great presentation heavy on the spices in the mix, not a fan. I will be back! Our server was new, Danielle and very sweet.

Pop's special .. Delicious!!!!

Food was amazing , I ate her last year and couldn't remember the name . Thank God for google search ! The staff is pleasant and the food is reasonably priced as well as delicious

It's been over a year since I reviewed this location and unfortunately ran into the same issue. There was an odd smell like sewage/basement smell. Our waitress Lisa very attentive and patient as this was my mom's first time. We ordered coffee, southwestern omelet, and the chicken and waffles. My mom stated the chicken was juicy and tender. The maple apple bourbon syrup complimented the food well. If you're unsure like my mom was ask for it on the side you won't regret it! I had the southwestern omelet with breakfast potatoes well done. Not sure what happened but they ended up really mushy this time and unfortunately there was hair cooked into the omelet. Lisa immediately take the food away. A guy assuming the manager as he didn't introduce himself. He asked how we were doing and if he could get me anything else. Overall the staff has been great at this location but this is the second time hair was in my food. Can't say I'll return to this specific location.

Breakfast!!
Trish K.

Pretty delicious breakfast! I didn't realize it was a local chain. But the food is really good. The portions are a good size. Not too big, and not too small. You can do grits or home fries which were kind of like a cross between shredded potatoes and little potato chunks. I feel like if you got those potato chunk things extra crispy, they'd be really good. My grits came with a ton of butter on top. Just a heads up. The food came out really fast! I couldn't get over how fast the place served me. They also don't advertise the awesomeness that is kids eat free! Can't beat that. Or the fact they serve alcohol! What?! Mimosas and other drinks. I just had a water because I'm lame! LOL It wasn't super huge in there but you could easily sit 4 to 6 people. Probably some food for vegetarians. And if you go early enough, you can do breakfast or lunch! I'm sure I'll stop in again.

Never have I ever been to Norfolk Va. so picked Pop's off Yelp. Small place seats around 70'ish. We came for breakfast, but you can order off the lunch menu too. Our server was training so I had to mess with her. The staff is genuinely friendly and being from NJ that took some getting used to. I got the Meat Lovers Omelette and because we are in the south I had to get grits. Almost got a bagel but because we're in the south I didn't. My wife loved the Cinnamon Roll pancakes, but couldn't finish them so I tried to help. I could have done without the orange cheese on my omelette, but that was my fault. All and all this is a great place for a good meal with great service.

Okay, okay, okay! Pops diner is a definite hit. I'm here visiting my hubs hometown and he said this spot was a must try. We arrive less than 40 mins before closing and the young lady that greeted us was so pleasant. The restaurant is cute not very big but like a comfort setting. Christmas music was playing in the background to help you with holiday spirit. After being seated she offered a variety of drink options. Let me just say this was the absolute best waffle I think I've ever had. Bacon infused. Soft on the inside but nice and crispy on the edges. Everything was amazing. Don't sleep on this spot & the menu is really good and both options are served all day. Close at 3p

Amazing Service, Great Coffee but the food could be better. I ordered the cheesy Shrimp & Grits and they were extremely salty! (I did not add salt at the table) Not edible at all, however the server offered to give me another meal, or have the dish remade which is very much appreciated, it shows they care about customer satisfaction. Husband had the Meat Lovers omelette which he enjoyed. They do slap a slice of sandwich cheese on-top of the omelette rather than shredded cheese, I have never seen that before at a restaurant/diner but husband said it tasted fine.

We made a special trip to Rustic Spoon for my husband's birthday because their website listed…read morescotch eggs, which was something he'd been craving forever and that we hadn't been able to find anywhere around town. It happened to be Restaurant Week, which made us a little nervous, but it ended up being totally fine. The dining room never felt overly crowded, the noise level was comfortable, and having the Restaurant Week prix fixe, drink specials, and regular menu all available gave us plenty of options without feeling overwhelming. One small note: the plastic logo cups served with the water decanter felt a little out of place. They were a bit sharp on the lips and didn't quite match the rest of the dining experience. Minor detail, but noticeable. The drinks, however, were excellent. On our server's recommendation, my husband ordered the Gingerbread Old Fashioned and I had the Salted Caramel Martini. Both were seasonal specials and both were fantastic. When we asked about the scotch eggs, our server explained they're normally a brunch-only item. We were a little disappointed (and may have made a few pouty faces while explaining we'd come specifically for them for his birthday), but we quickly let it go, it obviously wasn't her fault. What we didn't realize was that she went back and told the kitchen manager that it was his birthday and that we'd made the trip just for those scotch eggs. Since the kitchen wasn't slammed, they decided to make them anyway and surprised us with an order. We were honestly floored. My husband was thrilled. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. And the scotch eggs were exactly what he'd been hoping for! They were crispy on the outside with a rich, savory center. For entrées, his Nashville Hot Chicken was juicy with the perfect amount of heat without being overwhelming. My Haystack Burger was stacked and delicious, though the BBQ sauce was strong enough to overshadow the pickled green tomato a bit. The fries were fantastic - crispy, battered, and perfect from first bite to last. Our server checked in at all the right times and kept drinks refilled without us needing to ask. The fact that she went out of her way to do something special during one of the busiest weeks on a restaurant's calendar says a lot about both her and the restaurant. Rustic Spoon is the kind of place that works just as well for a casual date night as it does for a birthday dinner or a night out with friends.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

Our server was friendly, attentive, and kept things moving without making us feel rushed, which I always appreciate during brunch hours. Drinks came out fast, food followed shortly after, and everything felt smooth and well paced. The menu is full of options that really lean into fresh, seasonal ingredients. You can tell they care about quality of their food. Lots of comfort classics with elevated twists, plus some lighter options if you're not trying to go full brunch coma mode. I ordered the crab cake Benedict, and wow, absolutely the right choice. The crab cake was flavorful, perfectly crisp on the outside, and packed with real crab (not bready filler). The poached eggs were done just right, and the hollandaise was rich but not overpowering. Everything worked together beautifully, and it felt indulgent without being too heavy. I had a cup of coffee and the hunting burger that comes with potato salad and fruit. I also added the green salad. I love that everything is so fresh! The fruit is actually an apple slaw that is very unique but also very good! The burger and potato salad were great! This is not the potato salad you might normally think of. It is red potato chunks tossed in a dressing but excellent either way! The green salad was REALLY good but I do have some recommendations.. when the salad comes with a meal, it is listed as "green salad." When ordered alone it is listed as "house side salad" and includes all of the ingredients listed. The salad does contain almond slivers as well as pesto which are both allergens. I think this should be noted under all of the meals that come with green salad. Many people don't even realize how pesto is made, so I would definitely point out it is made with tree nuts. My only other "complaint" would be their straws sit in a plastic container, unwrapped. I noticed when the waitress brought out straws she was touching where you'd sip, an my sister says this has happened every time she's been. On their grounds they have geese and chickens and other birds. There is also a little path that leads to a cute sitting area on the water. I'd love to visit again when it warms up a bit as this restaurant is very relaxing and has a great setting overall!

It is a truly a rare moment for this Queen to give 5 stars Birthday Dinner reservations were made…read morein advance and I just happened to be a guest on a Saturday Evening. Upon entering the restaurant I was greeted with a line.. There were guests waiting both standing and strayed for to be tended to. I made my way to the Host and advised that I was there for a Birthday Dinner Reservation. The Host advised that Party hadn't arrived yet and the table was being cleared off. I made my way to the bar to have a glass of champagne while I waited for the rest of the guests to arrive. The bar was jam packed on a Saturday evening but I managed to find a stool. I was greeted immediately by the bartender. She was very attentive and took my order right away. I ordered a glass of champagne and the Brussels as an appetizer being that I previously saw that they have gotten incredible reviews. The Brussels were just good/ok. I absolutely LOVE Brussels but these didn't have a particular WOW Factor to me. The flute of champagne was lovely but a single glass was $18.95. I am not sure what was the brand of Prosecco but just a little heads up for the Girlies that love Bubbly as much as I do. Perhaps it may be more cost effective to purchase a bottle if you plan on indulging in a few flutes. Ok.. here was the first hiccup! The entire Birthday Party was at the restaurant on time yet we still had to wait well over 35 minutes ti be seated... we were told that the table was being prepared. Mind you we ended up being seated at a table that was cleaned off from the moment I stepped in there which was now over 45 min pushing to an hour. Second Hiccup! In our Pre Reserved Birthday party we had one child.. after waiting for an extended period of time the Birthday Girl was advised that children are not allowed in the restaurant. After some continued conversation, we were all eventually seated. ( our minor is very well mannered and used to being in upscale dining settings to say the least) lol Now is when the magic begin!!! We were finally seated and our waiters name was Larry.... He was Very Attentive, Knowledgable and accommodating. He quickly took out drink orders, and the appetizers. In a blink of an eye we had all of our appetizers. I was a bit taken aback by how fast the food was coming out of this kitchen! Impressed even.. I ordered the Highly Recommended Oxtail Empanadas and a Passion Fruit Rum Punch 3 Gorgeously Golden Oxtail Empanadas come per serving. They have a super Flaky Crust, Flavorful Oxtail Filling and yummy dipping sauce. I will definitely be reordering these! My Passion Fruit Rum Punch was Amazing! Our waiter Larry brought out this beautiful cocktail and literally sets it on fire right Infront of you.. not only was it delight to see but delicious to sip on and great photo opp! ( Be mindful that there is a 2 Passion Fruit Punch Max per Guest... they say that these can sneak up on you ) Now the party is officially started and everyone places their order in for their Entree. A few people ordered the chicken and seafood Pasta, crab cake dinner with custom sides, a salmon dish, I believe a lamb and I ordered the Whole Fried Snapper with spicy seafood rice and curry sauce. All this food came out Hot and in Record time. Once again I was blow away how fast th food was coming out the kitchen and how on point service was as all the waiters came at once to drop off our meals. My dish was a sight to see. As it should be at around $75 for this dish. Presentation was beautiful. I do feel like my fish was a bit under seasoned and over cooked. The meat on the fish was a bit dry for my liking which made me think that perhaps the fish was fried too long. For what the fish cost I wish it would have been a bit more moist/ juicer. On the other hand the Golden Curry Sauce that was served on the side of this Beautiful Fried Snapper was absolutely DIVINE. I was a bit disappointed that a server didn't come to pour the sauce over my fish. I think that would've added to the wow factor of this dish and the lack of moisture of the Snapper. I love attention to detail and tiny gesture can elevated ones dining experience and make it even more memorable. I do wish there was more sauce for the fish. It was placed on the side in a small condiment cup. Not enough sauce to fish ratio but I didn't bother to ask for more because I was having such a good time . lol The service was spectacular! I loved how quickly the tables were cleaned and how the staff seamlessly worked together to make your experience feel like a more upscale dining experience Another hi light of this restaurant is that the person celebrating is brought out feathered wings to wear! These wings are traditionally worn as an accessory to Caribbean Carnival Costumes! The staff came out to sing Happy Birthday as my friend wore her wings and danced around the restaurant! Let's just say a time was had and I HIGHLY reccomend

We visited Ibis Cuisine in Virginia Beach, VA on April 15, 2026, and overall had a solid, but not…read morestandout, dining experience. The highlight of the night was without a doubt the service. Our server, Toni, was excellent--very attentive, friendly, and genuinely made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. It's always refreshing when a server elevates the entire meal, and Toni definitely did that. The rest of the staff also seemed courteous and on top of things, which added to the positive atmosphere. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and has a good vibe--comfortable and inviting without feeling over the top. As for the food, it was...okay. Nothing was bad by any means, but nothing really stood out either. Everything we ordered was decent, but there wasn't a dish that made you stop and say "wow." I always try to give credit where it's due when food really impresses, and in this case, it just didn't quite get there. That said, because of the great service and overall pleasant experience, I would come back and give a few different menu items a try. There's definitely potential here--it just didn't fully hit on this visit.
