awesome crawfish food truck. a lot of seating around even indoor if weather is not good. a playground nearby for the kids and it's also pet friendly. the staffs are super friendly , they came over to check on us many times to make sure we got everything we need. I got the Bayou special which comes with 2lbs crawfish , one corn and one potato. it's crawfish season so the crawfish are big and fresh, i got the 8/10 spicy , it got some kicks but not burning. at the end of the meal my lips are definitely on fire. the crawfish is very flavorful but a bit on the salty side.

BEST crawfish in ATX! They get fresh, quality crawfish from south Louisiana delivered each morning. Pop's crew cleans them exceptionally well and cooks them to perfection. They've branded their own seasoning that is delicious and they can increase the spice level if you're feeling it. The owners are wonderful people and super friendly!! They have the perfect spot to enjoy an afternoon pinching tails and drinking cold beers with your friends and family. The location is kid and pet friendly with lots of a available seating.

FINALLY found it!!! Yay! THE BEST CRAWFISH in Austin! No longer need to make the trek up to Big D to get my snobby mudbug fix. And, of course in Austin they're from a food truck. :) Cooked and spiced perfectly and the best customer service. The staff were very happy to delivery to our car for no contact pickup during Covid-19. Crawfish season is of course over; however, as soon as it hits next year you can bet I'll be the first in line! Thanks Pop's for everything! Hey, please check out their other seasonal dishes as well.

Friendly family run business. A private lesson for crawfish newbie's, excellent service. We split a "Bayou" special. $20.75 for 2 lbs and one new potato and one small ear of corn. Full bar service in an adjacent building. Local beer and reasonably priced drinks. Nice water bar, self service. All tasty, good beer and fun vibe. My only recommendation would be, for a meal for 2, throw in a couple ears of corn and a couple potatoes. Very slight food cost to make it a better, filling meal for 2. Great, fun spot. Highly recommend.

Hands down the best crawfish in ATX. Huge mud bugs, perfect spice, great price (the more you buy, the cheaper they are), quick and friendly service, amazing experience. Great outside seating or you can go in and eat in the bar next door. (If you've been to Nate's in Dallas, this is just as good as Nate's!)

Best Crawfish in Austin By FARRRR. Will be back for sure. Huge crawfish and perfect seasoning

Another great addition to the food trucks at Rock House Bar. Walked up to the truck to check out the menu and was greeted by two very friendly ladies inside the truck. ATMOSPHERE: It's located in the little food truck park surrounding Rock House Bar. I love going here because it's a pretty cool vibe in an unsuspecting spot on 620. You can eat your food inside the bar, sit out on the patio, or enjoy the weather by sitting at one of the picnic tables dispersed around the side/back of the bar. PARKING: You can park in one of the spots in front of Rock House Bar (there aren't many), or along the little road that leads to the location that runs parallel to 620. I've never had an issue here. SERVICE: ‍‍ As I mentioned, when I walked up to the truck the ladies inside greeted me with friendly hellos. The lady I gave my order to informed me how long it would take (she said around 3 minutes), and that they would bring my food to our picnic table when it was ready. While we were waiting, they brought over a roll of paper towels and a bucket to dispose of the shells. It actually took 7-8 minutes to get our food, but it was fresh and piping hot! As we got up to leave, we were going to take the bag with the shells to the trash can, but one of the men working there said he would take it for us! FOOD: ‍ I ordered the Pop's Special, which is 2# of crawfish with corn & potato. It was the perfect amount of food for one person. I can eat 3# easy, but this was the perfect amount for me this particular day. I ordered extra corn & potato since my companion wanted to snack on those. Ended up with 2 corn and 3 potatoes. They have several dipping sauces to choose from. I went with Pop's Special sauce, which is mayo-based, peppery, and slightly sweet. It reminded me of a sauce I've had a few places in Louisiana so I really enjoyed it. The crawfish itself was pretty good. Not the best I've had, but I've eaten a lot of crawfish throughout Louisiana. It had a very slight kick to it, but they do give you the option to order extra spicy, which is what I'll probably do next time for a little more flavor. It was cooked very well. The shells peeled off very easily and the meat was the perfect texture, moist and not rubbery. SUMMARY: I will definitely go here again, especially to try it extra spicy. They also offer boiled shrimp which I really want to try.

Had crawfish, shrimp and brussels sprouts today. I ordered extra spicy crawfish. Not quite to my spice level but they were tasty. I prefer a spice level that makes most cry for their mamas and these weren't it but that's ok. The meat was soft and a bit hard to remove from the shells. They could probably have used an extra minute in the boil but they were FRESH. The shrimp...did not impress me, I'm sad to say. Same with the brussels sprouts but all in all, my meal was a delicious treat and I will probably be back for more in the future! (If you order the extra spicy, wear gloves while eating. Your mouth can handle the spice but your hands cannot. lol )

The crawfish... Obviously

This place had some of the best crawfish I've had in Austin. Crawfish was cooked perfectly every one came out perfectly tender and not one had poop still in it... Somehow. It was also seasoned perfectly! We got the extra spicy and it was good. So good. The food did not take long and the people working there were super nice. Brought our crawfish to us inside the bar we were waiting inside. Apparently people actually eat it in there a lot. We took ours outside :) They came by to check on us a few times while we ate like waiters kind of. Very unique location somewhat near the lake. They have a volleyball court out there and tetherball. And some picnic tables with some trees for shade thankfully There was also some shaved ice place next door. The bar the food truck is parked behind is like a hidden gem. It's like a nice cabin with some couches I think and a nice bar and tvs. They had a couple good craft beers on tap too. Definitely will be going back next crawfish season!

So satisfying!

I certainly hope they got more customers later in the day, because (based on my limited experience) the food, service, and atmosphere are all great. Freda's has been around for about 25 years. Longevity like that is earned. We opted to order from the lunch menu, which has enough choices to suit most people. I got the trout and shrimp ($19), which was nicely plated over seasoned rice and green beans. The lemon/butter/caper sauce was scrumptious. The trout was lightly breaded and crispy, and the shrimp (while slightly overcooked) were very tasty. The green beans were fresh and perfectly cooked. The overall portion size was just right. Before the meal arrived, a wonderful warm homemade cornbread was served with whipped butter. Service was excellent, and everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The interior of the restaurant is on the dark side. There's a separate bar area, and outdoor seating is available in better weather. I look forward to my next visit to Freda's!

Medium rare steak, nice potato, big shrimp. Crawfish dishes were good too, but you could tell they weren't fresh. What do you expect when you order crawfish in February. However, the portion was good size and garlic bread was delicious. The miss of the evening was the gumbo. It was significantly thicker than usual and had large pieces of pepper in them. Didn't enjoy it for the price point. Service was friendly and advised nicely on what to do.

You should know, this is an intimate space with only eight 4 tops and a dozen seats at the bar and that's all. We got here on a Wednesday happy hour, and the place was almost full, so making a reservation might be in order. The happy hour food and drink specials is most likely the reason why the place was almost packed. The dinner menu takes the prices to the next level. We started off with a couple of $10 martinis and decided on four happy hour menu items. My shrimp Po boy came on a crunchy French baguette and the Seabass was cooked to perfection. No wonder this place was packed. At six on the dot a pianist took the stage and livened up the atmosphere. The happy hour crowd trickled out, and the dinner folks strolled in. We added their bruschetta as the final piece and it was really very fresh. Some notes of interest that others may have missed: 3% credit card fee, no wifi and there's mouthwash for you in the bathroom. Definitely a place to revisit. 10 informative photos to get you through the door.

On the phone, they told us they had availability and could accommodate us, no mention of any restrictions or special policies. When we arrived, everything changed. Suddenly, they said they couldn't seat us because our group was "too big." Then we were told that any group of 7+ is automatically forced into a $145 per person prix fixe chef's menu. We had six adults and three babies (babies who obviously are not eating a multi-course tasting menu, they are drinking MILK) and they still tried to apply this policy to us. Not only was this never mentioned on the phone, but it felt completely unreasonable given the makeup of our group. Meanwhile, we were staring at an empty table that was big enough to fit our group. We were fully prepared to spend a significant amount of money there, and instead were turned away over a policy that should have been clearly communicated upfront. If you have strict rules like this, communicate them ahead of time, especially when people call to confirm. Don't tell guests you can accommodate them and then change everything when they arrive. The lack of transparency and flexibility made for a really disappointing experience. Would not recommend, especially for groups or anyone traveling with kids. Don't anticipate this place will be in business long.

As a Port Arthur resident, I know good salt and pepper shrimp and chicken, and Saltt absolutely did this signature flavor justice. Small world! lol Brandon recommended the salt and pepper wings and shrimp since it was my first time and it was served with fried rice and a slice of bread. I really liked the crispiness of the food and batter that was used to fry it. You can taste the the flavor all in the skin. I would say the actual chicken inside the skin could use a tad bit more salt but also that could be a preference thing for me. I loved the jalapeño ranch dipping sauce which took the shrimp up a notch. The fried rice tasted like Chinese takeout rice which I believe the owner mentioned was part of the concept of the business, as it reminded him of the restaurant he had back home. I had a sweet tea for my drink which was really good as well, not too sweet. Can't wait to come back and try other menu items!
