It's a cozy little café that serves delicious breakfast dishes. I had the huevos con chorizo, which comes with beans and rice, and those pancakes are to die for!!! oh my gosh!!!!! Lol. We usually visit during the week, so the wait time is under 15 minutes, but parking is limited, and the café is small. I've heard the wait can be up to 2 hours on weekends or busy days. I totally get why the food is so popular and affordable. Their pancakes are some of the best I've ever had, Denny's and IHOP don't even come close! My husband and I love Pop's Cafe. We go almost every other weekend for brunch. We have been displaced by the Eaton fire since January and have been staying in Downey. We do not have a kitchen at our temporary location, so we eat out often. Pop's is a go-to because: (1) The food is consistently delicious. (2) The servers are polite, fast, and efficient. (3) The coffee is great, the food comes out fast. There is almost always a wait when we go and the place is POPPIN but it's never a long wait because the staff there work together like a well-oiled machine. They get it done! We often sit outside with our dog, Sora, but we've also been allowed to sit inside with her because she is a service animal. Servers have always been very kind and friendly to us. Our favorites are their omelets, Belgian waffle, and pancakes. I've also had the steak & eggs, and that was really good too. I highly recommend! Great local spot. read more

Delightful experience dining here this morning. We drove out from Los Angeles to meet a family member who is in town visiting. We received such a warm welcome from our server, and the owner came over to say hello to us, which is always nice and goes such a long way in making you feel appreciated. The food had an extremely appealing presentation and tasted fresh and well prepared. Great country potatoes with grilled onions and peppers on top. Very present and supportive staff all around. This place is like a hidden gem but it seems the neighborhood already knew. Came here by chance and noticed a few people already waiting outside to sit. So my party gets in line and we wait. The wait was not too long and the food looked so good there was no way we were going to leave. So we get sat inside. The sitting area is small but they have it set up great. the food was bland and i felt tricked by the pricing. one of the waiters was really nice, and the ambience is good, but i just can't wrap my head around how much i paid for the mediocre food and coffee. I asked if they could make the breakfast burrito vegetarian for me, but they charged me for a veggie omelette which was turned into a burrito...because it was wrapped with a tortilla. however, all i wanted was for them to take out the sausage and bacon, and replace it with a veggie (if they can). Maybe it was a miscommunication, but it should have been made clear to me if they were going to charge me more. what i got did not feel like a breakfast burrito at all, and it was almost $19. The coffee was watered down and i think i got charged $0.95 extra for milk on the side. this was really disappointing because i really hoped to like this place. read more

I overheard the host telling everyone 15 minutes though without really checking. I saw multiple people leave because of the wait. We were willing to wait and see if the food would be worth it. I'll tell you now, it's not. The service was so slow, I even got the menu before we sat down to be ready to order. Our waitress even commented "smart! Not so positive but it's important people know. We visited Pops Cafe. It was a terrible experience. Over the past few months the food has been mediocre. We've tired to be understanding but this experience is not acceptable. I ordered the ABT omelette. My wife ordered blueberry pancakes with eggs. And my son ordered Belgium waffles with fruit and a side of gravy with biscuits. This is the size of the omelette i recieved. No bigger than a jack in the box taco. Actually even smaller. Eggs are expensive you may say? Well this dish is now a whopping $20.00. Yup. They raised the prices 40% across the menu and are serving this up. A hair was found in my wife's eggs, food that wasn't ours was being brought to our table multiple times, my son's biscuits were served cold and mushy, they also didn't add the fruit to the waffle. Multiple items had to go back. When the omelette was remade the waiter sarcastically said it was made with 5 eggs for you. Yet the difference was definitely not seen. When I spoke with owner the next day all she said was I wasn't there and they should have offered you to take some items off the bill. You'd think she'd offer it then? Nope. She offered us some drinks on the next visit and was reluctant to talk about the food that we received every time i brought it up. In other words because she wasn't there she couldn't help me.
