My favorite coffee / breakfast spot in Brooklyn. Sitting outside on a sunny morning with an egg and biscuit sandwich or a seasonal frittata is pure magic. A black lab at our feet, friendly neighbors, young families and pleasant staff make the entire experience so pleasant. One disappointment is they are no longer offering their amazing "Overnight Oatmeal" -- please bring it back! Nonetheless, it's still the best little breakfast around. read more

Love poppy's. Had them cater for my baby shower which I held outdoors on a rooftop and everything was excellent and seamless. I ordered about 2 weeks in advance and set a window for a pick up time (they also deliver but for a fee). Everything was ready when my husband arrived. Was packaged beautifully, and everything was so good + more importantly held up super well despite sitting out for a few hours. I will definitely be using them for catering again. Also, on Friday and weekends, they have the best breakfast sandwich available in the store. read more

Poppy's is the perfect local spot to grab a delicious quick breakfast and a coffee! The most difficult part of the experience was deciding what to order. I ended up getting a pear/ chai scone and the frittata which were both extremely delicious. I think the frittata could have been a larger portion size but still good. My friend went for the ultimate egg breakfast sandwich on a colossal biscuit. Overall I was extremely pleased with the quality of the ingredients and I will certainly be back! read more

I almost feel like I visited a different place than all the other reviewers since that was the worst iced coffee I've ever had. I got an iced coffee recently and it was so watered down, it tasted like when you drink all of the coffee in a cup and you are just drinking the melted ice at the bottom. The cute atmosphere and pretty good pastries are not worth the snide, holier than thou attitude that this staff has. In February I had 4 friends staying with me from out of town and I was excited to show them this cute coffee shop near me. It was freezing cold rain on a Tuesday afternoon and we were excited for some hot coffee. When we entered the shop and were looking at the menu the woman working said "um I don't know what's going on here but only 4 people in the shop at once." Everyone was masked, no one else was there, and I had to go stand in the freezing rain by myself for 5 minutes while she made their drinks. My friends were shocked by this and it was such a shitty way to start off their trip. The other day I bought a cinnamon roll from them after not knowing the price. When she turned the iPad around it was $8.50 for a small cinnamon roll that wasn't even great! I guess I should expect that from the area but still... It's a beautiful day today and I was excited to get up and get some coffee on my morning walk. I waited in line (because of their 4 person rule ) and was holding my 4 pound chihuahua who doesn't walk on the ground and is virtually non existent. The woman without hesitation screamed, "I'm sorry no dogs!!!" I was shocked because there was no sign and also there's a difference when It comes to dogs. I understand a big wet dog but me holding my little dog wearing a $40 sweatshirt isn't that. Also I'm not going to tie him up outside so I can get a $6 coffee. This place is cute and it's in a good location because there's not much else around but like I said, they take their jobs extremely too seriously here. At the end of the day it's a coffee shop and I feel like every time I'm there I brace myself for an unpleasant experience. Henry Local is so much friendlier and pleasant! read more

We popped in here for some sweets and caffeine after a big lunch down the road a piece. We loved the sea salt chocolate chip cookies and the chocolate cinnamon sugar popkas, but the hot matcha and hot colombe coffee was awful. Perhaps we came near closing time and the drinks weren't fresh or were made hastily, who knows? But, we would still come back for dessert. read more

You're still there for me when I need it most- under-caffeinated after an all-nighter, as I ravenously purchase three (...reader, I must admit, four) items for myself alone. Everything I have ordered here, has exceeded my expectations and become the new favorite. Most memorable are the ricotta with honey, biscuits and breakfast galette. Catering review: learned about Poppy's from another catering company that couldn't accommodate us. So that word of mouth already set me at ease. I used Poppy's catering to celebrate my 1 year old's birthday. We got a bunch of platters, kabobs, and we even went with Poppy's for the birthday cake. We got rave reviews on everything. We just used Poppys' for my daughter's bat mitzvah picnic and EVERYONE raved about the food. They set up covid friendly picnic boxes (including ones for the kids), individually wrapped flatbread pizza and utensils. The pizzas were to die for and the food was fantastic. Plus they were super flexible about some guests' dietary restrictions and were able to deliver to BBP where the party was. Jamie and Casey were amazing. Poppy's catered our wedding about a year ago. Knowing what everyone had told me about weddings-- that you don't have time to eat-- we asked for a separate plates of meals to be prepared for us and provided in the room for our yihud-- the place a Jewish couple retires to for a short time after the ceremony before returning to their guests. This is very common for Jewish couples to do. We were in there for over 15 minutes before food was brought to us, and were anxious to rejoin the party but were waiting for food--but to my dismay it was only a plate of our passed appetizers, and not a plate of the dinner food. Also, the food was supposed to be waiting for us when we got there. We hadn't made plans for any other food to snack on because we counted on them to do this. Of course, during dinner, I didn't have time to eat because I had to go around greeting guests. I later became very sick from not eating enough. Everyone else tells me we had great food at our wedding but we didn't really get to eat it. We had counted on them to do this one thing. I can think of reasons why they did it this way--our meals were family style and it could have been difficult to make individual plates, maybe they hadn't made the food yet--but that's not really the issue here. The issue is that they agreed to do this, we expressed this plan to them in person and through our wedding planner, and no one ever raised any issues or told us this would be a problem or that it would be a tiny amount of food. If they had, we could have had other food waiting for us in that room, and I wouldn't have gotten sick later. I know this is a year later, but as I'm sitting as thinking about my wedding I am still frustrated and disappointed about how this went, so I think it's worth reviewing now. read more

I went to a recent event that Poppy's catered at Clare V. in Cobble Hill and it was outstanding. The food was beautifully presented and used fresh, seasonal ingredients. The crudité platter was the best I've seen - crisp slices of red and yellow peppers, juicy cherry tomatoes, grilled asparagus, and more. The various flatbreads, chips, salsas, and dips were all super tasty as well. I will definitely keep Poppy's in mind for future events! read more

I used Poppy's for a department all day offsite meeting for 15 people where we had both breakfast and lunch catered. I couldn't have asked for better service from the Poppy's team; from the excellent budget maintenance and menu coordination by Margaret to the delivery team which set up the meals beautifully and labelled each dish. We had a variety of dietary restrictions and everyone was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food! As a person that has coordinated a few events, catering has always been the part i loathed but with Poppy's i said the exact number we were having and the restrictions we had in terms of budget and diet and Poppy's took care of the rest. It was the most pain free catering experience i have ever had and their food was delicious to boot! Highly recommend. read more

Nothing in this storefront has ever lasted. Oh my god, Poppy's - please stick around!!! For a long time they only did catering out of the shop, so didn't get to experience their food - but then one glorious Saturday they set up a sandwich board and announced they were doing a "pop up" shop that weekend. It has grown and grown since then. They continue to only do service from 9 to 3 on weekends, but the neighborhood has really caught on and people flock there - and they almost always sell out of almost everything by mid-day. All of the baked goods are insanely good. I can't even manage to declare a favorite. The biscuits are gigantic and a flaky, buttery orgasmic biscuit experience. The chocolate chip cookies are crisp on the edges, chewy at the center and salty, sweet and packed with dark chocolate. The cardamom pecan coffeecake is moist and rich and packed full of crunchy, sweet streusel topping. Okay, my favorite might be the lemon poppy semolina poundcake - I love citrus baked goods the most, and this delivers on all fronts - moist, dense, super lemony. Scones change from weekend to weekend but they are always interesting combinations and delicious. The egg sandwich is decadent and amazing - a cheddar baked egg on one of those orgasm inducing biscuits - topped with bacon JAM and pea sprouts. I mean, come on... My only complaint is that I am hooked. There is no hope of planning for a cheaper or more healthy breakfast at home on the weekend - I will be on line down the block getting my baked good fix. read more
