The soup of the day was tomato bisque and it was amazing! The popover literally just made me smile. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars because my complaint does not warrant a whole star being taken away. That being said, there was a hair in my lemonade which was a little icky. The Summer Vegetable Hash is absolutely sublime here. So flavorful and perfectly cooked. Not much food for the $14 price, but definitely worth trying. My dad had the Corned Beef Hash, which he enjoyed but seemed almost twice the size as mine! If you get takeout be aware that takeout probably isn't very common for them, so keep an eye on the area around the register for sitting bags of takeout, they got really busy with seating people and forgot about ours. read more

Dropped in on a Sunday around 2:30 for a quick look at this new restaurant. Pretty empty and yet the two young waitresses seemed well ... Distracted. We ordered an ice coffee and a regular coffee thinking it would be better than just handing it over our money to Starbucks next door. After ten minutes we asked the girls if they Forgot us. Yep. The bakery items were picked over so we stayed with drinks only. The coffee was old. You know the bitter taste when coffee has been laying around all morning. The good - awesome food & local ingredients The bad - horrible service I really wanted to like this place, but as others have said, the good food was outweighed by the bad service. The inside is super cute with lots of wooden decorations, a menu that boasts local ingredients (always a plus in my opinion) and a New Years Day brunch special including mimosas and popovers 'for the table'. We got here for a late brunch around 1pm on New Years day and the place was packed. We were told it was a 15 minute wait. Well over half an hour later, another party walked in and was seated immediately (before us and the other couple waiting patiently). At this point we nearly left. When we were finally seated, out waitress seemed annoyed to be serving us. She came over without a greeting, only "are you ready yet?". She never asked if we needed anything else or how we liked our food - we practically had to beg for the popover that was included in the special. We also saw her try to clear the plates of the table next to us 3 times when they were clearly not done.. rushing people along. Onto the food. The food was amazing, the drinks mediocre. I got an espresso smoothie with the Simsbury Feast - 3 eggs, home fries, bread, sausage and bacon. The $8 espresso smoothie was mostly banana and water from what I could tell. It was quite soupy. The meal itself was cooked perfectly and a lot of food for the value. In summary - this is a cute place that makes a really great brunch, if you're willing to deal with the poor service. read more

Simsbury has an overwhelming amount of uninspired food and halfass coffee and Poppver bucks that trend in good style. I visit family in town a few times a year and always make a stop in, if only this place were here when I actually lived in the valley. read more

I was really looking forward to eating here as it came on recommendation of a friend when I told her I'd be in this area. I love coffeehouses and unique offerings so I decided to try the Lavender Latte w/ almond milk. I didn't love it at first -- the lavender subtle was in contrast to the bitter coffee, but it did finally grown on me. I ordered a popover for the table and sadly none of my companions really thought much of it. It was very plain - and maybe we just assumed it would be sweeter or that the honey butter would change that. I did find that covered in maple syrup it was quite yummy. I also ordered the Veggie popover (b/c I had such high hopes of the popover) and was really disappointed. The popover didn't add anything to the overall appeal. It was soggy from the scramble. There just wasn't much overall flavor. I'm giving it 3 stars b/c I really wanted to like this place and think maybe my orders that day were just bad choices for me. So I thought I would give the new breakfast place in town a try since we just got back from vacation and the fridge is empty. As I entered today, I was told that they are now doing table service. Previously I guess one would place an order and sit down with one's food. Anyway, table service is definitely a new concept for the waitstaff. My coffee didn't get refilled without me searching someone out, the check didn't come nor was it offered. I think I could have walked out without paying for my breakfast. The decor is beautiful. I stopped by for the first time with friends, and we had a great experience. We had to please a vegan, a pescetarian, and a carnivore, and everyone was happy with the selection. The good: - The place is adorably decorated, uncluttered, and clean. - Our lunches were all delicious. I had the chickpea sunflower smash wrap. It was filling, slightly tangy, and came with a side of freshly cooked sweet potato chips. - The vegan triple chocolate cookie was the size of my face and was incredible (I ended up taking it home and eating it throughout the day). Honestly, if I lived closer, I would buy that cookie all the time. My friend ate one of the lemon bars and loved it. The bad: - My only complaint is that the online menu is different from the menu I received on a Saturday afternoon. This place is amazing! My friend brought me here as a treat, for breakfast. Our waitress was such a delight! Her smile just brightened my day for starters, but her spunky personality, great sense of humor and passion for her job was just the icing on this little gem! I had eggs (over medium), potatoes and a popover with their honey butter. Holy moley. Incredible. That honey butter was such a perfect touch for that popover! I had local coffee from Giv coffee house on RT. 44 in Canton... It was outstanding. I do have to admit, though I have some valid reasoning, I'm a total coffee snob. My husband and I have gone twice since it opened. It has promise but I think a few kinks need to be worked out still. First time, we went for a late lunch. He ordered the hanger steak salad, which he said was excellent. I had the Cabot grilled cheese, which came with a tasty side salad. The service, while everyone was friendly, was quite slow. There were maybe one or two other tables in use when we were there and the food took quite a bit of time to come out. I had ordered a popover on the side, which they initially forgot to bring out, but then they brought out 2. The popover is just okay. It doesn't have much "popping over" and I am surprised that it is not offered as a side to more of their meals, seeing as how it is their namesake. It is also pricey, in my opinion, at $4 for one. Today we were on a bike ride through downtown and decided to stop in again for Sunday brunch/lunch. My husband had the hanger steak salad again, which was just as good as the first time. I ordered the Wonder Woman egg sandwich. Unfortunately I didn't specify how the egg should be cooked and assumed that it would be fried over hard, like most fried egg sandwiches. It came out with a distinctly runny/over easy egg, which is just not my taste at all. My fault for assuming, although I do think the menu should specify that eggs will be cooked over easy in the sandwiches. The staff was very nice and prepared me another sandwich, although I didn't think there was anything special about the flavor. Service was once again friendly but a bit slow. It feels like they are trying to get used to everything so I am hopeful that once they are settled it will be a nice little splurge. The inside is quite nice and clean and they offer various vegan/gluten-free items if that is your thing (it's not mine but there's plenty of other offerings). The food is not only farm fresh, it's a unique breakfast place in the sense that serving the first meal of the day inside a delicious flaky popover isn't easy to come by. They have so many breakfast choices that range from an acai bowl to the many different kind of stuffed popovers. I have visited many times but my choice today was a Spanish popover with eggs, black beans, avocado, and pico de gallo. So. freaking. good. I also love their coffee, its local and just really really flavorful! I will say that the prices are on the higher side but hey, it's Simsbury. On the basis of one visit, this recently became...probably my favorite lunch spot in downtown Simsbury. I was feeling overenthusiastic and exploratory, so I ordered more food than I really needed: a hanger steak sandwich, a cup of corn chowder, and a popover. Wouldn't have changed a thing about any of the food. The steak was tender and juicy; the corn chowder had a light, complex flavor; and the popover had a perfect texture: cracker-crispy on the top, softer & denser in the middle. I absolutely love this restaurant. The popovers are awesome with just honeybutter but their savory popovers are also an interesting alternative to your traditional sandwich. Really nice breakfast find in Simsbury. Next to Farmington Heritage rail-trail. The 3 OE eggs were cooked perfectly Two thick strips of Applewood bacon and huge link of tasty chorizo sausage. The place is very clean and nicely decorated. The waitress was very friendly and the kitchen was super fast. I was the only one there though. She made a perfect custom ordered Bloody. Only negative was the three wait staffers were doing their silverware / napkin thing and yakking loudly. Kind of distracted my reading. Shortly thereafter the place started getting busy and the yakking dissipated nicely. read more

So glad that Simsbury has a breakfast place where I can find a gluten free, egg free, dairy free breakfast. I especially like their roasted veggie hash with a side of applewood smoked bacon. I liked this place, casual, friendly, helpful staff-but it can be very crowded at meal times. You must stand and wait for a table in a small foyer area. They do have a hostess to help keep track of the seating order. I would recommend this restaurant to vegans. I had the Trendy Vegan Sammie and it was very good though a bit on the bland side being all vegan egg and vegan cheese and had no dressing with some sort of spiciness to it that I would have preferred. My friend had a French Toast BLT that she said was marvelous. It looked huge. The popovers looked HUGE also. Desserts are limited. Love this little gem in Simsbury! We had a morning 'off' (our girls were spending the day with my parents) so we decided to go out for brunch. This is a big deal to parents of 4 and 2 year olds! Drinking coffee while it's still hot? Not having to feed a little while my breakfast gets cold? Somebody else clearing the plates? Needless to say... my hopes were HIGH! The atmosphere is charming and bright and the staff was as welcoming as the decor. I couldn't tell you if there was music or not because all I heard was angels singing when we saw that they serve Giv coffee. My lifeblood! I wish I could remember the name of the 'breakfast sandwich' (it was really more of a feast on a plate) I had, but it was served between sourdough bread and beyond delicious. Normally I'd offer my husband a bite, but this brunch-time delight brought out a very selfish side of me ;-) The popovers looked and smelled amazing, but we were way too full after our meals to try anything else. Had been wanting to try breakfast here for a while and had the chance today. The food was good but too greasy. Maybe the rolls and croissants are buttered before the eggs go on?? Found this place on yelp this morning. The service was slow today but that quickly was remedied once our food came out. I got the huevos ranchero bowl and the other dish is the protein pop. Both were really delicious. I received a very generous amount of super fresh spinach topped with guacamole, roasted corn, black beans, pico de gallo and two poached eggs. YUM!
