"Well, you should see Polythene Pam She's the kind of a girl that makes the "News of the World" Yes, you could say she was attractively built" (Lennon & McCartney) Baked by Pam is a very sweet Peruvian Bakery, coffee shop, and luncheonette run by a mother and daughter team from Lima. How cool is that? You'll find it in the Antonio's Plaza on Hopmeadow Street in the space previously occupied by Lox Stock and Bagel, a Dunkin, and a Lion's Den coffee shop. The interior is very pretty with a white and pink color scheme, but what really grabs your attention are the tantalizing bakery treats in their showcase - cake slices, Dulche de Leche rolls, and wonderful Peruvian cookie/pastries known as Alfajores. Pam also serves up breakfast with avocado toasts, bagels wraps, egg sandwiches, and heartier fare like waffles, empanadas, steak and eggs, omelets, pancakes and waffles. Add in their deep line of coffees and teas, and you have the makings of a wonderful experience here, like we did. We had a very nice lunch here yesterday and ordered a spinach empanada and a beef empanada for me, and a Lucuma Chocolate Chip Waffle ($11.50). My empanadas ($6 each) were wonderful. They are homemade every single day by Pam herself and were flaky, tender, and really loaded with fillings. The beef empanada was my favorite; the delicately spiced ground beef was delicious. The full-sized circular waffle was a work of art, garnished with strawberries, Nutella, chocolate shavings and bordered by a pillow of golden whipped cream flavored by Lucuma, a sweet yellowish South American fruit. When Pam's daughter Danitza brought out our foods, she gave us a complimentary Nutella Alfajor - a yummy, filled shortbread cookie. Ours was so terrific, we ordered two of them to go -a Classic and a Pistachio. When we arrived home, we saw a third small Alfajor was tossed into the box as another freebie. We really fell in love with Baked by Pam! The delicious pastries, the breakfast and brunch menu, the pretty interior, and the wonderful service -everything was stellar.

I so want this business to succeed. That said, let's move to the experience here. I was pleasantly greeted by the staff and my order taken quickly and efficiently. My coffee came quickly, which I enjoyed a great deal until my food arrived. I had ordered steak and eggs, which included some home fries and one slice of toast. The steak was adorned with a chimichurri sauce. I'm a bit of a purest when it comes to beef, I think it should be able to stand well on its own without any condiments accompanying it. This was not one of those occasions, though the chimichurri sauce was too much for what was a fairly thin piece of some kind of steak. The scrambled eggs were a bit sparse and a tad overcooked. The home fries were quite good with a bit of crunch and a soft warm center. The toast was, well it was toast. Steak and eggs and an ice coffee came to around $23. This was a good idea not well executed.

A new Peruvian cafe in Simsbury! It's located in a small plaza with plenty of parking. There was a patio area and a handful of tables inside. I love the cute and pink theme. I am a fan of cafes and bakeries so I had to check this place out. On this visit, I tried out their iced lucuma latte, lucuma mousse cake, beef empanada, and it was so good. I could eat 20 of those empanadas! It's lightly sweet and savory. Lucuma is a Peruvian fruit which tastes like sweet potato and caramel. First time trying and I am in love. My son enjoyed their flourless brownie, my husband loved the chicken empanadas and black coffee. Side note: I did order another pastry and was charged for it but they forgot to put it in my bag, I understand, they are working on their kinks as a new business. I'll look at it as their tip lol. The employee was friendly. Overall, I'm glad to have this cafe near me and I'll be back for more drinks and EMPANADAS!

Made by Pam is a brand new Peruvian bakery and coffee shop in Simsbury. They have a very cute outdoor seating area, complete with a cozy couch, shaded umbrellas and surrounded by flowers. The inside walls are pink, they have some Peruvian baked goods and cookies behind the glass. There are some seating options available inside. I was very curious in their Lacuma Latte. The Lacuma Latte is a Peruvian specialty. I got it iced, it was pricey at $8.00. I also got the Pistachio Alfajor. They had several people working, the wait for the latte was very slow moving. The Pistachio Alfajar is a pistachio shortbread cookie filled with dulce de leche and pistachio filling. For a single $6 cookie, I expected much better. For starters, this cookie was super dry, it was also very crumbly. The center filling was not impressive. This was a below average cookie, for an above average price. The Lacuma Latte was very tasty. Easily worth the wait. This is a unique blend of earthy, sweet, and light caramel flavors. I really enjoyed it! Made By Pam are pricy, but worth checking out.

It's wonderful to see a new Peruvian bakery owned by a lovely mother and daughter. There's a great seating area outside to relax and enjoy your treats. We tried their cookies, and they were absolutely delicious - not too sweet, with a beautiful pistachio puree filling inside. The breakfast menu looked amazing too, so we're already planning to come back for brunch. The owner was so kind and welcoming. Highly recommend checking them out!

Pretty area but I was honestly thinking it was going to be more quaint and romantic. It was not. The area is somewhat narrow which makes tables spaced close together and it's really not that private. But the space is nicely decorated and if you sit on the right side (which we did), you're right in front of the waterfall. I would try the dining room next time just to compare. Our server Anthony was professional, kind of and accommodating. We started with cocktails - I had a creative gin drink called Dot Dot Dot. My husband loved his Old Fashioned - he meant to ask what type of bourbon they used because he thought it was very good. With the tasting menu - many of the options apparently change regularly though based off other reviews it appears there may be similar options from time to time. We started with their Johnny Cakes which the waiter said the restaurant is known for. Another reviewer ranked them a 7.5/10 and I couldn't disagree more. They were one of the tastiest bites I've eaten in a while. Crispy, buttery and divine. I thought they were to die for. Served with creamy honey sesame butter which was also delicious. My husband doesn't eat fish so for his amuse bouche he had a little puff served with cheese, that was amazing. For his first course - he had the Ricotta Raviolis. They were as beautiful as they were delicious. My amuse bouche was a tuna tartare that was a perfectly balanced bite. I had the Tapioca custard as my first course. The bacon was a bit too smokey for my taste and overpowered the dish in my opinion. It could have used a bit more liquid but it was a unique few bites. For our mains, my husband's porcini risotto was rich, creamy, and full of earthy flavor. I had the bass with cauliflowerini, golden raisin-caper gremolata, Marcona almonds, and a cauliflower purée--thoughtfully composed and very flavorful. The final savory course was a crispy duck breast with port-poached pear, port reduction, and sweet potato purée, which was beautifully executed. Dessert was a pomegranate pavlova--crisp on the outside with that perfect soft, marshmallowy center. A delightful finish to the meal. Overall, the dishes were not only delicious but also thoughtfully composed and visually striking. It made for a memorable experience, and we're already looking forward to coming back--maybe in a different season to see how the menu evolves.

There have even been sightings of Abigail herself walking through the restaurant. The history says she was beheaded by her husband when he returned home early from a voyage at sea and caught her with her boyfriend. Abigail's also holds a special place in my heart, as we had our rehearsal dinner here and returned for brunch after our wedding. It has never failed to disappoint. The food is consistently excellent, and the service is always top-notch. On our most recent visit, we had a party of eight and were seated upstairs, which was perfect for privacy. Once our husbands get together, things can get a bit loud, so the privacy was much appreciated. We started with mussels, calamari and oysters Rockefeller. The calamari stood out for me-olive oil, lemon, kalamata olives and peppers gave it great flavor. I ordered the blackened sea bass special with risotto. The fish was cooked perfectly and delicious, though I would've liked a bit more char. One thing to note: the dish came with shrimp, which wasn't listed- fine for me, but important for those with allergies. Other dishes included bolognese, seafood fra diavolo and steaks, all of which were thoroughly enjoyed. Drinks were excellent, with great wine selection. Our server was fantastic- attentive, very patient and good-natured, even with all the jokes and antics. Overall, it was an excellent evening and a place we always look forward to returning to. Reservations are highly recommended. Brunch is also excellent, and the outdoor patio is a great bonus in warmer weather.

It took a bit for us to be acknowledged and seated but I was ok with that. Our waitress was warm and welcoming and though I knew what I was going to order before I even left the house, the specials she rattled off all sounded great. I am obsessed with biscuits and sausage gravy and knew it was on the menu. It's not only on the menu but the staff's shirts all mention the biscuit. DAMN that is a good biscuit. It's a HUGE cheddar and chive biscuit (big enough for a sandwich). Paired with the sausage gravy and my perfect over-medium eggs it was a wonderful meal. My wife had the French Dip benny which she liked but would not order again. She felt the roast beef was a little tough. Hers came with a "loaded potato cake" which was insanely delicious. It's about the size of a crab cake, made with shredded potatoes and was so, so good. Of note-reasonable prices, many vegan, vegetarian and GF options (including vegan meats and cheese).
