4.5 inches in diameter & weighing in at a hefty 5 and a half ounces
    Dan R.

"If the sky that we look upon Should tumble and fall Or the mountain should crumble to the sea" (King / Leiber / Stoller) Crumbl's cookies are not your average cookie. They are monstrous sized cookies. We picked up four today, and I measured and weighed one of them at random. It tipped the scale at five and a half ounces and measured four and a half inches in diameter. Crumbl sells their cookies via a touch screen kiosk where you can pick from their available types and pay. Today's choices were Milk Chocolate Chip, Cookie Dough, Lemon Bar, Cinnamon Scone, Chocolate Cupcake, and Monster. The four we settled on were Chocolate Chip, Cookie Dough, Cinnamon Scone, and Monster (M&Ms). They ran $22 after tax. They were still warm when boxed up for us, and we'll bring them over when we visited the grandkids today. We targeted our Chocolate lover with the Chocolate Chip and Monster, and our non-chocolate fan with the Cookie Dough and Cinnamon Scone. We've had Crumbl Cookies from the West Hartford location and already know they taste amazing. PRO TIP (Know your nutritionals) Active kids don't care about calories as much as you might, so here's a look at the nutritionals. Our cookies ranged between 700 and 900 calories each, and you should also know that a serving suggestion is 4 servings per cookie. So, if you can limit yourself to a quarter of a cookie, your intake will be between 175 and 225 calories.

4-pack of Chocolate Chip and Brownie cookies

Crumble opened a new store in a town near me so I thought I would give it a try on a rainy Saturday afternoon. From among the 16 or so cookies that were available today I chose two chocolate chip and two brownie cookies. These cookies are huge! About 4 inches across. When you order your cookies in store they come boxed and warm. I bought a 4-pack that cost $16. Expensive, yes but given their size and fabulous taste, worth it as a treat. Definitely a must-try

Not only were the pastries absolutely extraordinary, but I experienced what may have been the most hospitable customer service ever. While my family enjoyed our pastries and cherry lemonade in the exquisitely decorated cafe, the owner came over and sat down with us to chat. She then proceeded to give us a variety of other pastries to try (on the house) and even introduced us to some of her staff before we left. I could not get over that experience and I proceeded to tell everyone I knew that they absolutely had to try BouNom. Since that day, BouNom has become synonymous in my family with special occasions. What do I want for Mother's Day? A trip to BouNom. My daughter's choice for birthday breakfast? BouNom. The fact that it is a bit of a hike for us is no deterrent whatsoever. If we know we are even remotely headed to that area, a suggestion of BouNom is always made and enthusiastically agreed upon. My personal recommendation would be the Cherry Vanilla Cream Cheese croissant. The portion so big that it takes me two days to finish. My daughter would say pain au chocolat or the chocolate chip banana muffin. My husband loves anything with fruit and often bounces around the different specials that are offered. We usually place an order online the night before and, while ordering a coffee during pickup, we might find a few more treats to put in our box. How lucky we are to have this treasure in our corner of Connecticut!

They've been around since 2012 and offers a variety of treats; from macarons, cupcakes, bars, pies, truffles, and cookies. There are three locations; Avon, South Windsor, and West Hartford. This one in Avon is super cute and whimsical; love the decor with the picture frames on the wall. There was a table and some chairs to enjoy your treats. I decided to get a few macarons, bars, and a cupcake. All were so good but my favorite were the macarons. They were the perfect texture, lightly crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The employee was very kind and friendly, and the shop seems smoothly run. The shop seems to be in two plazas, and have designated parking on either side next to the building. Watch carefully for the signs, because the plaza is a little nondescript from the road.

Other treat options were the chocolate covered Oreos and cannoli chips and dip. I bought a few of those Oreos and they didn't disappoint. I can't wait to go back and try out more treats!

I've always preferred the whipped cream frosting or cream cheese frosting but their buttercream is something that even I enjoy. They keep their peanut butter options completely separate from the other flavors and even asked if I wanted my peanut butter cupcake in a separate box for allergy purposes. They offer dietary accommodations including gluten free and vegan as well and they have a table of delicious chocolate dipped Oreos and beautiful hot cocoa bombs. There's also an ice cream counter. Think people are hating this place because they are comparing the food to Stop & Shop. The taste is pretty different. Sour Dough from NY, Vermont that was "baked today" but feels half frozen is $7 at Whole Foods ... so complaining about $10 for a local one is kind of wild. Yesterday I had a baguette from the West Hartford location. Ate it on the way home. It was so good. Finally tried a sandwich. I had their Turkey Sandwich today. Shit was life changing. Haven't had an experience like that since having a steak at J Gilberts for the first time. It's so delicious and the color is beautiful, perfect for a Halloween/fall treat. The mocha has a rich, but there is a hint of coconut flavor--you don't actually taste the charcoal. Another thing that I like is their tea selection and season tea drinks. During my last visit, I had an Apple Pie Chai which paired well with my Pumpkin Scone. My all time favorite was their Blackberry Mint Chai in the spring. I loved how unique it was and the flavors really worked! My dad really loved their grilled cheese sandwich. It had Swiss, cheddar cheese and he added tomatoes. He says that Dom's makes the best grilled cheese which doesn't surprise me because of the Dom's Cheese shop that is located with the coffee shop. The quality of cheese makes a huge difference. If you are near Dom's and looking for some coffee fuel, give them a try. Their ice cream shop is also next door too.

They have breakfast and lunch cafe menus (+catering), yummy pastries (cookies, muffins and scones) and various coffees and drinks. We enjoyed the omelette (if you order more than 3 ingredients there's a charge) and the village breakfast which was eggs, potatoes (slightly blackened), sourdough toast (or wheat) and bacon. Prices are fairly standard ($11-14) and portions not very large. The panetonne, toasted coconut, and chocolate chip scones ($5 each) were all good and baked well. The honey latte and hot chocolate (most drinks are $4-8) were also very creamy and delicious, though slightly too sweet for our tastes (made it taste good though!) You order at the counter and then take a table and place a marker with nice words like "love" and then your food is brought to you. The actual space is very inviting, with lots of nooks and crannies (tables with chairs, couches, a fireplace). They also sell t-shirts ($30) and sweatshirts ($40-50?) which are pretty soft material, as well as ground coffee, cards, granola, etc. The other half of their space is their homemade pasta place so it's a unique layout and looked fun as well. There were plenty of customers cycling in and out, many sitting down with a warm drink and a pastry. Parking isn't huge but was not super super small but could be an issue if they got an influx of folks hanging out. Wouldn't blame them though because it's a comfortable place with free wifi.
