    my chocolatey cup of yum.

"Blue, like the winter snow in the full moon Black like the silhouettes of the trees Late blooming flowers lie frozen underneath the storms I want you to remember me that way" (Natalie Merchant) Let's be honest - in many ways frozen yogurt shops are all alike, right? So what separates the ordinary from the extraordinary when you pull back that lever to fill your cup with frozen goodness? What about neatness? Not only was this store immaculate, but so was the toppings bar, with nary a stray sprinkle out of place. What about the decor in general? Froyo Shop was bright and cheery full of colorful pastels and vintage ice cream signs, including an old super cool "Mr. Softee" sign. What about the excellent product? I mixed together two chocolate based flavors with a cookies and cream twist and they were excellent. I added in some cherries, sprinkles, and a few chocolate covered mini pretzels to liven things up and everything was equally terrific. Lastly, what about the service? We met owner Matt who was very charming, informative, and an all around super nice guy. Froyo has some challenges because of their location in a rapidly changing plaza - Bob's Stores and Home Goods are closing and Bed, Bath and Beyond seems to be hanging on by a thread. Matt told us there is talk of a Go Kart track coming in and I sure hope he is right because that would really help him out with a supply of young customers. But in the meantime, I urge you to visit Froyo, meet a real cool guy, and enjoy a cup of frozen deliciousness.

I can't believe I have never been here before!!! You can choose from a variety of frozen yogurt and you get to add your own toppings!! How cool is that?! They have so many to choose from!! They also offer bubble tea and milkshakes !! I can't wait to go back!!

A great Froyo shoppe - so clean and tidy. Good selection of flavors and toppings. Attendant was so friendly and attentive. Overall a perfect little shop for a frozen treat.

We stumbled upon this frozen yogurt spot right next to the old Bed Bath & Beyond, located in the Simsbury Commons plaza.

With so many unique flavors and mixes I had to "throw some dice" to decide which and HOW MUCH to order. Of course the young window attendant was very patient and very pleasant to an old dude like me acting like an indecisive kid! Mama Bear, me, and Puppy Bear each enjoyed a double scoop of Orange Cream (me), a double chocolate mint, and a prepared Pup Cup for you know who. The pup cup was frozen stiff, that's good, we were able to bring leftovers home for another treat. Ours, well the rich creamy flavors in our cup slowly disappeared leaving two satisfied bellies.

They have quarts of ice cream, ice cream cake, shakes, cones, and cups. They also have their own hot fudge sauce, ice cream sandwiches, and doggy ice cream. Other options include vegan ice cream, iced coffee, and ice cream floats. They also had hot dogs. The service was good and it was lovely sitting outside enjoying our treats. I ordered the snickerdoodle ice cream on a waffle cone and it was huge and delicious. I look forward to trying out their other flavor offerings!

In the case of Tulmeadow Farm and Lacroix's Homemade (I'm posting the same update for both), I have to admit that I had it somewhat wrong. Both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's made @cticecreamtour's Top 15 CT Creameries. My original reviews for both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's were both good btw. I just didn't initially connect with the flavors I tried in the way that I did with my other CT favorites. Since those initial reviews, everything I tried at each has been a banger. At Tulmeadow, I recently had Red Raspberry Chocolate Chip, Marshmallow Toasted Cornflake, Chocolate Raspberry Raspberry Curd and the best flavor I've had this year -- Double Raspberry Crumbcake. The flavors all popped. The use of intensely flavored raspberry curd in a couple of the ice creams was next level. The colors were right on. The texture was top tier. Service was friendly and the farm setting adds to the experience. Tulmeadow is 5 Stars and I'm upgrading my earlier review.

It's also a textural thing for me. So there was a bit of hesitation as well. I thought the ice cream was excellent. They had great flavors to choose from. I went with the bestselling red raspberry chocolate chip, and then the burnt honey sea salt. Service was super friendly. I asked what the smallest size was that they could do two flavors in and they were more than willing to accommodate the kiddie cup, which was still plenty of ice cream for me. I think the sign said it's 3 oz, but it at least seemed like more to me. As good as the red raspberry was, I think I preferred the burnt honey. The flavor was strong went well with the naturally occurring cream flavor. There was a lot of parking on the side of the building. I think there was an indoor area, though I can't confirm if you can order ice cream inside. I used the outdoor window to order. I also found the prices to be reasonable. Great first experience. I would definitely recommend the ice cream. It did not disappoint, and I look forward to having it again.

The service provided by the employee was friendly and quick. My toddler had the marshmallow sky ice cream, which had marshmallow and chocolate chip cookie dough; he loved it of course. The prices were steep but it was worth it. I thought that was odd, so I got back to my car and called the store. A young girl/woman answered. I asked if they were open, and she said "we are ". I said "oh, I just was at the door and it was locked!" She hung up on me before I even finished my sentence. I figured, OK, I still need an ice cream cake so I'll go in. I go around to the front of the store again, the door is unlocked, I walk in, stand at the counter for one minute, and no one comes out to the counter! I turned around and walked out. You've lost my business. You're too expensive anyway! - and apparently employ rude people! P.S. Btw, I'm thinking the young woman was the one I passed the first time around the building who was walking out back for a smoke break!

When I saw my Yelp friends Ana and Kim both review this very cool place, well I kind of made my mind up that I'd check it out too. I mean, how can you resist going to a store that has no employees, and you pay for whatever you buy on the honor system, either electronically or putting your dinero into a cash box. The store is small, but jam packed with frozen foods, ice cream, fudge, honey, jarred goods, coffee, goat and cow soap products, clothes, jewelry, a full dairy case of milks, eggs, and cheese, and more. We ended up buying a frozen portion of ground veal at a great price- just $7 for close to a pound. The purchase came at the perfect time for us because we needed it for our Thanksgiving meatballs recipe. So go take a ride to the country and check out this unique place. You can pay by inserting cash into a red box, or you can pay on Venmo. Their prices are a bit higher. I truly enjoyed browsing through this little store.
