We have been wanting to try Popover's for a while now. Finally, this past weekend, we took the trip and stopped in. What a cute place!! I walked in and instantly knew this was going to be great. Their menu is pretty extensive with several varieties of popovers, and also breakfast bowls, sandwiches, smoothies, etc. They have breakfast and brunch items. Popover's also has a great selection of coffees, lattes, and teas. My husband and I ordered the protein pop to share and I also ordered a mocha latte. The protein pop was absolutely perfect. It had a tasty combination of ingredients- eggs, bacon, turkey sausage, mushrooms, caramelized onion, and cheese. The kitchen also split our popover to make it easy to share which was nice of them. When it arrived to our table it looked awesome! We both really enjoyed the delicious popover and the egg/meat/veggie combo that went with it. Didn't need a thing! Enjoyed every bite. My mocha latte was perfect and warm the entire time I drank it. I made it a point to call the owner over to our table to tell her how much we enjoyed our first visit and that she's doing everything right! I wouldn't have changed a thing! Great place. Great food. Great latte. Great atmosphere. Great service!! read more

*update* The owner apologized and made sure I wasn't charged for the popovers. I look forward to eventually getting back there to share the popovers with my family! I had a wonderful lunch and a popover and loved the popover so much I decided to get some to take home to my family. I was so disappointed when I got home to see that they were BURNED! How could someone bag up these popovers thinking they were edible? Extremely disappointed. read more

Loved this place! Expensive, but worth it. Can't wait to go back and try more soon.

Amazing! I've never had a Popover in my life, and this dish is super unique and delicious. I love all things breakfast, and the fact that I could get this at 2pm was my favorite. The bread is very unique, fluffy on the inside with an awesome crust on the outer edges. Overflowing with eggs and goodies inside! I also had a coffee with bourbon, what else could you ask for? Comfortable shop with great music, staff and service. Staff was all masked up for COVID and they even had a huge tent outside if you're more comfortable dining outside. Thanks again! read more

I first came here as a recommendation for lunch with friends. One friend had a breakfast platter which was full to the brim with sausage, eggs, home fries and toast. Another friend had the vegan bowl which made me question my want for meat. It was full of sweet potatoes, veggies. I had the crispy chicken sandwich. It was a wonderful lunch. Their speciality drinks def make the meal. It can get a little loud in there since the shop is long. The service was great, happy and helpful waiters. There's also a counter where you can order treats and coffee if you don't want to sit in a dine. read more

The coffee here is amazing and the baked goods are even better. The inside has such cute decor! Highly recommend for a good lunch or breakfast. read more

Popover was recommended by our friends here in town and we had a morning alone when they had to go to work. We chose it because they had vegan breakfast options which is generally unheard of. I had a great (pictured) breakfast skillet hold the eggs and my wife had a buffalo cauliflower sandwich off the lunch menu. Our lattes were great and they had multiple plant milk options. We didn't try any pastries but they appeared to have a lot of vegan and gluten free options. Our service was prompt and helpful even though they were pretty busy. If we weren't traveling out of the area most days on this trip I'd definitely be back. read more

Popover Bistro is original and fresh! We went here for breakfast after a hike so naturally we were starving and nervous when we saw how crowded it looked. We were told their was a 45 minute to an an hour wait. Luckily we asked if it was possible to sit at an outside table that wasn't currently being used and they were kind enough to let us and sat us right away! We started with a popover which was huge, light, fluffy and delicious! And get this - it was free with a two check in! The chai lattes were also huge and had good flavor. I got the chicken and waffles - delicious! My boyfriend got the stuffed popover with scrambled egg, cheese, meats, and veggies - was served a little old but still good. Preferred my dish more. Service was friendly and prompt. Would definitely come back here! read more

I've been to popover several Times. My favorite thing there is their coffee. I'm Not a fan of the popover itself. My eggs are usually cooked well and the variety is great. My kids always get the Emma T which is a Nutella waffle and they love it. I only gave 3 stars this time because my Last meal lacked flavor... So I went back fo lunch and again wasn't too impressed. It was good. It wasn't great. The popover this time was WAY better! read more

Stopped into Popover Bistro & Bakery in Simsbury and grabbed some take out. Hubby is vegan we chose this restaurant after checking the menus online and seeing all off the choices they offered for him. I went with the veggie hash it was loaded with sweet potatoes, carrots, Brussels, broccoli, zucchini sautéed onions and wonderful roasted tomatoes. All of the veggies were perfectly cooked not a one that was too hard or soft. The seasoning and roasted tomatoes were perfection. I of course had to have a popover. Perfectly crisp outside light and airy inside it conjured up childhood memories of popovers made by a favorite aunt for holiday dinner simply wonderful. The very dangerous bakery case is located right by where you order, I glanced over long enough for the carrot cake to start calling my name. Who am I to resist? Moist and flavorful with just the right amount of frosting well worth every delicious calorie. My husband opted for the Vegan Power bowl, shredded kale, quinoa, toasted chickpeas, roasted broccoli and cauliflower, shredded carrot and falafel with pomegranate dressing. He absolutely loved it. We will definitely be back. He noticed they have a vegan waffle last time he found one of those at a restaurant we were in Brussels, Belgium read more

I've been to Popover a number of times and always find a reason to come back! One, to start, is the amazingly delicious honey butter. Another is the very friendly and accommodating staff. Third, and perhaps most importantly, the food is tasty. The real winner here is the popover itself. Served with honey butter, it's a definite treat. I have found the scrambles to be a bit dry, although not unpalatably so. The lunch bowls are a definite winner. This is a good place for family meals. I've eaten here with a baby and now a toddler and never felt out of place. read more

Absolutely amazing breakfast food! The shop is so sweet and cute. It's a beautiful place to enjoy breakfast and coffee with a friend. It's so original and really great. Definitely go there! I even go to the take out window when I don't have time to sit down. It's just awesome. read more

Move over, West Hartford brunch scene! I could not wait to write this review of Popover Bistro! This place is legit on so many levels. Nitro iced coffee, smoothies for days, avocado toast... need I say more? Staff is friendly, portions are generous, and the popovers are delectable. There were so many things on the menu that looked delicious that it was difficult to decide what to order. I thoroughly enjoyed the sweet potato hash and my boyfriend was literally stunned by the black angus corned beef hash. The chorizo was massive!! Don't sleep on that Green Monster smoothie, it's incredible! Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. Can't wait to come back for that Bloody Mary bar cart! read more

Extremely pleased with the entirety of Popover Bistro and Bakery. The service, the food, the ambiance, and so much more spoke to me as an individual. Have really been feeling raw veggies lately instead of cooked meals. I feel the oils weigh me down a tad more for whatever reason. Either way, I had plans to head to Whole Foods for the salad bar until I stumbled upon Popover right next to the Starbucks I was doing work at. With a couple bakery items that were vegan, their buddha bowl, their veggie bowl, and acai bowl, and a chia seed bowl, there are a few options at the moment. But...good news... New Menu Comes out 10/16/17 !!! And they assured me more vegan options along with that :) So very much looking forward to returning! I ended up with a buddha bowl with the veggie burger instead of the tempeh. With a nice array of veggies, delicious salsa and quinoa, and a nice bed of arugula underneath, i was in heaven. And not to mention meals come with a side of a popover or sourdough bread and jam for us vegans. And boy was it delicious... Certainly was a busy place, and I was the only guy in the entire restaurant for a good while. I was told the place was started by some women in town but look forward to their continued growth and hopefully some more guys in the place! Thanks again, best to your entire team. read more

I've been a cafe line cook, barista and restaurant manager, so I feel my experience is especially relevant. The first thing you notice when you walk up, is a sign that reads, "please be patient, we're short staffed". Despite the warning, the service was fantastic. Our server's name was Tyler. He was polite, knowledgeable about the menu and delivered our food quickly. The corned beef hash came highly recommended, so I ordered that as well as a latte. All 3 of our lattes arrived cold. We received them very quickly, so it wasn't sitting at the window, but just seems like they didn't steam the milk long enough to bring it up to the right temperature. It was a bit nippy, so none of the lattes were finished because of this. Wanted to ask our server to microwave the latte, but I ultimately decided not to burden our server with the slight inconvenience as the food is what I was excited about. Our food also arrived quickly, which was a surprise given the sign, but that excitement was short lived. Corn beef hash is my favorite breakfast meal. It's usually canned, so I always order it when it's made from scratch. I wish I was exaggerating when I say this, but this is by far the worst corned beef hash I've ever had. The corned beef looked like pulled pork. It was cold, dry, with no flavor which is impressive given how salty it usually is. The meat was translucent, as if it was left over, sat under a heat lamp and reheated from the day before. Although I was expecting breakfast potatoes on the side as well as potatoes in the hash, there were literally two potato halves on my entire plate hiding underneath my heaping mound of shredded meat. There is no hash, in this corned beef hash. Not sure if toast is normally served dry here, but the toast was also not buttered. I ate my overcooked over-easy eggs, pushed my plate forward and asked for the check. Personally, as a former line cook and restaurant manager, I would have been embarrassed to have these plates leave my kitchen. We spent $76 for 3 drinks and 3 breakfast plates, not including tip. For the price, I had higher expectations. It's one thing to be understaffed, it's another to push out low quality food for the sake of better service. I would have gladly waited twice as long for hot coffee and fresh food. I understand being short staffed, especially in this environment, but hiding the lack of quality control behind a sign designed to garner sympathy, is in my opinion, bad taste. read more

The gist..Popover heaven and unique offerings. This restaurant knows brunch and does it well with popovers as the main star. We sampled the popovers and they are crispy on the outside and light with great flavor on the inside. The smoothie offerings are plentiful and inventive. I sampled the apple pie smoothie and it was just the right consistency with balanced sweetness. The smoked salmon avocado toast (pictured) was loaded with salmon and a light smoky flavor. The breakfast sandwich selection offers customized options with plentiful fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is comfortable but seating is limited, so be prepared to wait during busy times. The restaurant offers many types of coffee and teas drinks, which are much more inventive than the neighboring Starbucks. Stop into this unique restaurant for a great breakfast or brunch option. read more

The food options are impressive for a relatively small space, but the prices are OUTRAGEOUS! A blueberry banana smoothie costs $8.95! Do yourself a favor and head next door to Subway for a sandwich, chips, and soda. Food options range from pastries, sandwiches, smoothies, muffins, etc read more

If you enjoy processed, frozen food at inflated prices, with mediocre service, then this is the place for you.

Went for breakfast and it was delicious. Good serving sizes and for how busy it was food came out quickly. Side note - My flight was canceled while sitting there and the server over heard and gave us a free slice of cake to cheer us up. Great spot and even better people. read more

Mediocre and overpriced food. I had a chicken Caesar wrap and the wrap itself was stale and crusty (literally had cracks). I ended up having to take it out of the wrap and eat it as a salad. Quite pathetic considering how expensive the wrap was and the sides offered are chips or salad. Not worth your time or money. If the drinks had refills, I would give it another star but unfortunately, there aren't many great things to say about this place. Easy parking and right in the center of town. read more

Wow. I think this place is officially on my "top 10" list. I will try to tell you how much I enjoyed brunch here, but I'm not sure I can do it justice. You might just have to taste it for yourself. I went on a Sunday morning and must have times it right because there wasn't a wait. Right when you walk in you're struck by how bright and beautiful it is. Tons of natural light, beautiful decor, but still very cozy. I started off with a Bloody Mary which was good, my friend enjoyed her iced coffee as well. Then i did something I NEVER do- I ordered 2 meals. Everything looked so good and I literally couldn't decide. I needed to try the chicken and waffles, but I'm also a big lover of Benedict. Theirs in served with bernaise instead of hollandaise - I justified trying both by saying I'd eat half of each and bring the rest home to my husband. It sort of worked that way... The chicken and waffles was incredible. The most perfect mix of sweet and savory. Light fluffy waffles with a cheese melt, lightly fried chicken breast and a sweet syrup. Un. Freaking. Believable. So hard to save half. The Benedict, also incredible. The sauce wasn't too rich like some hollandaise can be. Eggs were perfect, thick cut bacon and English muffin rounded it out. Side potatoes were seasoned to perfection. THEN I got a free popover for checking in on Yelp. The honey butter? To die for. It's a good thing this place is 20 minutes away. Otherwise I'd need to start a heavy duty exercise routine. This was truly one of the best and most relaxing meals I've had in a long time. I cannot wait to go back. Kudos Popover! read more

Long wait time. We got our food to go and it took a long, long time to come out. Their coffee is very good I got an iced oat milk latte with SF vanilla (glad they had sugar free). I was also very happy they had a variety of food options!!!! I got the chia pudding ... I don't remember its exact name on the menu but it was very good. HOWEVER, I had gotten the kale power something bowl with chickpeas and other toppings for later on... very much NOT delicious. No flavor. Don't get that. I will note that I did not try any popovers, which is probably their best dish. But this is a good little spot to stop if you're in town. read more

Awesome place! Highly recommend the protein popover! Know where their name come from!

Cute little setting in the Simsbury CT:) there are many schools near by so you'll actually see a lot of middle/ high school kids in the plaza where this bistro and bakery is located. The spot is so adorably decorated. Lots of cute details to the decor and ambiance. The cookie is like a giant grandma cookie and the lattes are delicious. A very diverse menu.... I got the toast w/ avocados spread and black beans and a poached egg ~ it was okay. So I think the actual food tastiness is why I took one star off of this review but all else is great. Just cute and meticulously managed to cater toward the customer base :) read more

I thought Popover was pretty good, but they had some obvious kinks to work out. Since 3.5 giving 3. 5 stars is not an option, I rounded up because of the food selections, the great coffee, and the adorable decor- I'm a sucker for anything served in mini mason jars. I think the way they are set up- you go to the counter, place your order, and grab a number to bring to your table- is just fine. Nice and efficient! However, it's confusing to people. When I was there, since we grabbed a table by the door, multiple individuals asked me if they were supposed to get in line, and how it worked. Also, since the menus are at the counter, you can't look at it ahead of time, unless you've been there before and know to walk up and grab one. My suggestions: some sort of sign by the entrance explaining how it works, preferably with menus. Grab a menu there, return them by the counter. Also, the coffee condiments should be moved so customers don't have to pass through the line of people to get to them. The staff was really friendly, although they seemed a bit overwhelmed. This could be because they're still new. There was no butter out by the counter (my dining companion wanted it for his muffin), and we ended up waiting a really long time for someone to get us some from the back, and having to remind them a few times. The muffins, by the way, were great- and gluten free. Yum! I love that they offer only gluten free pancakes and english muffins, and I love their menu selections. And as I mentioned, the iced coffee (cold brewed) was really good. I'll be back to see if they've settled in any more, and to try lunch :) I have my eye on a steak salad. read more

This place is amazing!!! I don't come here that often because it's out of my way, but when I'm in the area I definitely make sure to stop by!! What can I say about the popovers that hasn't been said? They're soft and flaky at the same time, and the topping always go perfectly together. Even though there's usually a line, especially on weekends, they tend to seat your fairly quickly and I haven't had to wait for extensive amounts of time. The service is also very prompt and the food comes out quickly. Make sure to stop by if you're ever in the area! read more

My party of 3 has gluten and dairy allergies. We were delighted with the awesome options. We had a lunch that started with a delicious Buffalo cauliflower and lightly fried Brussels sprouts. Each was awesome and accompanied by a delicious vegan sauce. For lunch we all had the Turkey club on the GF bread that is homemade at Popover. On the way out, my son absolutely crushed an amazing GF raspberry bar. I had a bite and it was mouth watering. Really cute place with friendly waitstaff. I like that their main theme is popovers because they've not very common around here, plus if you check in on yelp you get a free popover with butter! I got the honey matcha latte but the waitress said they just switched to a new matcha, I didn't like it very much it was super potent. She took it off the bill though which was really nice of her. I also got a breakfast sandwich and a waffle. Sandwich was good but the waffle has a weird aftertaste in my opinion. My friend had a breakfast popover with eggs and cheese and she said it was super good! Doesn't come with anything else so be sure to add potatoes on the side. Otherwise I think it's a really great unique menu. I can't wait to come back when it's warmer out to sit outside and try their smoothie bowls! read more
