My car got stolen on the North Shore just a couple days ago, and when it was found dumped in a little side street the keys were long gone. My car is a Chevy Aveo which nobody I'd gone to before, like Ace, had been able to make a duplicate key for. Zach with Pop-A-Lock not only made a duplicate key for me on site right out of the back of the van, but made two in less than twenty minutes, and did it after driving from the complete opposite end of the island in barely an hour to get there. Zach not only made the keys but also helped out with the car; the thieves had wedged it up on a rock and he helped with some wood blocks to give it a ramp off, and helped push it too. I had to create an account and download this app just so I could write this fucken review! Called the customer service line this morning because I locked my keys in my car, guy (didn't get his name) I spoke with seemed irritated, had no patients and not professional. I guess I needed a credit card or debit card # in order to send a Tech out, when I told him I didn't have one he simply told me he couldn't help me then HUNG UP! WTF? dude needs a new job. Ok, I get it, I needed some sort of ...i guess cancellation debit/credit payment? or whatever but at least maybe give me some suggestions on who else could help me, anyone else i could call, something, anything! Instead of just hanging up. I did end up getting help, Good thing my dad's friend is a ex police officer and had a kit to help unlock car doors! Saved me the $55.00 and 60 mins Pop-a-lock was going to charge me. It's still early, not gonna let these miserable assholes ruin the rest of my day, ALOHA. read more

I had requested roadside assistance through my insurance company. I received a text from my insurance company telling me the contracted company will be Pop-A-Lock Hawaii. I was told I'd be hearing from the company too. I was originally told 40 minutes from the time of my request. An hour came and went. I called my insurance company who related to me that the contracted company said there is heavy vehicle traffic in my area. I check the traffic cameras and there's no traffic. I call back to the contracted company to see what their deal is and to my surprise I get told the same story. I let the lady know that I'm viewing all traffic cameras in my area with no traffic in sight. She then changes the story to, "we have a high call volume today". Not once was I told sorry or offered any other information on an ETA. I have a 2 year old and a 9 year old with me and we are trying to get home. The city and county of Honolulu is shut down for this COVID-19 thing. There's no traffic on the roads. Get your story straight if you're going to try and lie to a customer! I've reported this to my insurance company already and they'll be looking into the matter. read more

Some dude came to unlock our door. Average height dude with glasses and gauges. Said a technician would be there in 35 minutes but no one arrived til maybe an hour after. No one called to say they'd be late, we just had to wait in the rain. He did what we paid- to unlock our door. He offered to give us a free duplicate key and said to let him know if it worked. It didn't so I gave back the key, he said to wait and "let me try the key again". I go back in the house to get the original keys so he can recopy it and as soon as I get to the van, dude speeds off. What did he want me to wait for? He said to wait and that he was going to try the key again but he didn't even bother coming back in the house to try it on our door. I call and get put on hold multiple times, the call lasted about 40 something minutes before the SUPERVISOR hung up. Saying "what do you want me to do???" "What do you expect to be done!?!?" with the biggest attitude ever. Waste of time. Couldn't even get an apology. Supervisors name was Deron. Told me he'd relay the message to the manager. No one called back. I call again the next day and the manager, some woman, decides she doesn't want to hear my complaint and gives the phone back to the same supervisor, Deron, and he starts raising his voice on the phone. He said he was going to disconnect the call because it wasn't his problem and it's inconvenient to him to even hear what I had to say. Kept saying they can't do shit for me. Can't apologize for an employee promising something, having it not work, and then driving off. Can't apologize for how they spoke. Saying we only paid the technician to unlock the door and nothing else so "leave them alone." Terrible customer service. They yell at you on the phone and leave you on hold for a while hoping you'd hang up. Constantly transfer your call, yell at you multiple times, talk over you, and then end the call. I don't recommend calling them if you accidentally lock your keys in your car or house. There's other businesses and cheaper. They seriously need to learn CUSTOMER SERVICE. How to properly talk to a customer. How to solve the problem that has occurred. How to be polite. How not to be an asshole. And especially how to apologize. I'd give them zero stars if I could. Giving one star is being too generous. It might have just been me getting the shitty employees but i'm not the only person who had a terrible experience. read more

Called my insurance for roadside assistance and they said they'd come within 45 mins. Technician called me within 20 mins and was there in 5, even at such a late hour. He was very efficient and helpful. Took off my flat and put in the spare and was good to go within 20 mins. Definitely would recommend them. read more

My friend and I got stranded at OCC we left the keys locked in the car....haha. We called Pop-A-Lock and were told that the wait was over an hour. The guy showed up less than 30 minutes later! His name was Eddie (Eddy? I don't know how to spell it...sorry Eddie). Super cool guy, helped us out really quick. The whole thing took less than 5 minutes, outstanding service! kyle helped me out today! i locked my keys in my car (at pearl harbor playing tourist with my mom and grandma go figure) i called my roadside assistance and they quoted me an hour. which wasn't bad but kyle was at my car within 35-40min. took him about 12 seconds to open the car. he called me when he was close and found me fast. highly recommend!! read more

In Kailua, early in the morning, I realized I locked my keys in my mini van and that was my only set. This happened about a month ago and I feel terrible I forgot the guys name who came to my rescue. He showed up right away, was kind to my 2 year old who was bouncing off the walls, opened my car, AND made me a new key for my van... which I thought I had to go to the dealership for. My 2008 Honda CRV battery was dead and the manual key lock wasn't working more the fob. Called pop a lock and they came within ten to twenty minutes. If anyone else has a 2008 crv then you know the locks are very tricky. Since it was locked he has to use a series of tools to crack open the door and try to push the lock tab for the car handle but it was really tricky, once we got it open, he could pop open the hood and charge the battery but that was easier said than done. The lock tab for my car handles were very fidgety so we decided to try to go for the handle that pops the hood so we could get enough juice in the battery to start receiving a signal for my car fob. After a stressful thirty to forty minutes he got the hood open and from there all was well. My experience with pop a lock was very good and I would definitely go to them again if I'm dumb enough to leave one of my lights on. read more

Called this company 3 hours ago and was told a technician would call me in 15 minutes. Noone called so I called again and was told I just needed to wait, that my call was still on the board. After 3 hours, called again and was told by the operator that they don't work on my model of car, 2008 Saturn Vue, so I asked why no one told me that in the first place since I called twice before! All the operator did was apologize . I called this company since their reviews were good on Yelp but I will never use them or recommend them to anyone else . After coming in from an extra long flight I loaded up my car and started the engine. only to find after walking around to the drivers side that I locked the keys and everything else (including my phone) in the car-WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING! I had a lock rekeyed in January 2016 and the lock started sticking after 4 months. I tried WD 40 this did not work. Month 5 I called Pop-A-Lock and spoke to Zach. He said their work is only warrantied for 30 days and that they would charge $49. for a service call to look at the lock. I think the lock is either defective or was installed incorrectly. We will not be using them anymore for our rental properties. I have never had a lock rekyed that did not last at least 5 years. read more
