When I had a flat tire a few months ago my AAA contacted a local Pop-A-Lock agent who was already on the road. The agent then contacted me (number given through AAA) and arrived roughly 45 minutes after initial contact. My agent (whose name I forgot -- oopsies) had EVERYTHING in his car! He had a deluxe car jack, it lifted my car higher than the one I had in my car by roughly 8", a drill thing for the bolts, and all the necessary tools to change a tire in the dark and in the rain hahaha. Poor guy! He got my car up and operational in 20 minutes though! He was paid via insurance but received a cash tip for his hard work. He was a friendly, local guy who loved his job & that made all the difference! I felt comfortable and safe standing on the side of the road watching my car being fixed. Terrible customer service. We were quoted 30 minutes, but were worried because our car was running, AC running, and low on gas. So we tried taking matters into our own hands in trying to get the door ajar and what not. Eventually, the manager at PetCo Kapolei came out, grabbed stuff from his car in an attempt to help us. While he's helping us, Pop-A-Lock employee drives PAST us, without stopping to ask if assistance was still needed (which at the time, we still didn't get the car unlocked), and then texts us saying "should have told me you didn't need assistance anymore". 9/23/2019: REDEMPTION!!! THANK YOU, TYLER!!! Funny how this universe works sometimes. Exactly one year ago I had called upon my Roadside Service through Servco Toyota (refer to my original review below). Pop-A-Lock (PAL) was the vendor who accepted the service call, but unfortunately did not meet the initial ETA nor the updated ETA's thereafter. I was perturbed. It was late and dark so I canceled PAL, and then called my Roadside service again the following morning. A different company was assigned to my call based on my unpleasant experience with PAL. But, I also reached out to PAL via email and expressed my frustration and concerns. The business owner was kind enough to reply, but what was done was done. Fast forward to today, another flat tire. Went through the same motions with Roadside Service and low and behold....PAL was assigned to my call again! Ack!! ETA was 1-hour. I was on the fence about having them come out, so I called Roadside back to see if they can contact PAL to ensure the ETA was correct. The nice young lady on the phone confirmed. "Everything should be good to go." So, I gave them another chance. This is where things get really good.... PAL shows up....5-mins early! Yessss!!! A good sign. Tyler was a pleasant young man. He swapped out the flat with the spare tire in just about 15-mins. As air was pumping into the spare, I expressed my appreciations. Then I told him that about a year ago I had a bad experience with PAL. After realizing he was on the same street I called last time, he said, "Wait, are you the one that wrote a Yelp review? I was the one who was assigned to your call." Doh!! Well, after a brief discussion, Tyler conveyed how much he felt bad. I also learned they were short-staffed that particular day and tried to field calls as best as they could. Before Tyler left, I told him that I would update my review. So, folks, here it is. After giving them a second chance, they pulled through. PAL provided outstanding customer service overall!!! Courteous and professional. Thank you very much, Tyler!!! 9/2018: My Roadside service plan dispatched this company out to service my car. Received a follow-up text to let me know they would arrive within 60 minutes. Great! 70 minutes later, Roadside service calls to check up on the car to ensure service was completed. Pop-A-Lock hadn't even showed up yet! So dispatch reconfirmed they were just another 21 minutes away. Okay. Cool. 25 minutes later, still a no show and now it's getting dark. New update? They'd be at least another 70 minutes. Get outta here. The total wait time went from 1 hour to 2 hours and 45 minutes. Conclusion: Unacceptable. I cancelled the service request. Any company should not be accepting jobs if they cannot complete the service within the timeframe they initially promised. Or at least have the courtesy to call the customer directly to provide an update. Bottom line, this sucks. Luckily, I wasn't stranded late night on the side of the freeway with small children in tow. Please have the decency to reach out to your customers or contractor early to give them an update. It's that easy. read more

Unfortunately I was actually charged $150 and the person who unlocked our car said that Pop-A-Lock hires out and their quote isn't valid with his service. I needed a new key for my car and got stuck behind one of their vehicles in traffic and decided to call them to see if they could help. I needed a new car key, the kind that the car senses the key is there and it has buttons you can use to lock the car and stuff. I had an appointment with the local dealer to fix this, but Pop a Lock offered to come to me, do the job faster and charge less than the dealership. I met up with them and they totally delivered! I got my new key for $260, which beat the $320 the dealership wanted. The new key is identical to my original one, not some brand X knock off. The guy got my new key working faster than the dealership said it would take. My only complaint is he met me about an hour later than he said I would but that's ok, it was still more convenient than going to the dealership. If I needed another new key, I would totally go with Pop A Lock again. read more

5 stars across the board for Jake at Pop-A-Lock! Our car was running fine for the first half of the day. Stopped at the store for some groceries. Loaded up, tried to start the car, and no luck. Damn battery died. Car was being weird and flashing the airbag inspection light. Grrr.. We're insured through Geico so this was no problem at all. With a few simple taps on my Geico app, help was on the way. Believe it or not, we waited less than 20 minutes. How lucky was that!? Jake pulled up, asked a few questions, and boom bam did his magic, and done! We were started up in no time. Turns out we had a bad battery in our recently purchased used car (from Star Auto Waipahu... That's another story.) Ended up buying a new battery from O'reilly's. Anyway, I have Roadside Assistance through Geico and they sent someone from Pop A Lock to give me a jumpstart. I'm horrible with names, faces, and telling people's ages, so I am not sure who it was that helped me and can't even describe him but I do remember he said he used to live in Denver (he recognized my 720 area code). He was super nice, got my car started in under 30 seconds, and told me to let the thing run for half an hour as well as start it up every few days. Many thanks to him! It did take him a little longer to get to me than Geico's app stated he would, but I understand that kind of thing is just their best estimate. Also, I was at home so it wasn't a big deal. Miguel to the rescue! I used my Drive Sure Benefits thru Servco Toyota when my car battery died at the parking structure of my workplace. The vendor dispatched to help me was Pop-a-lock Honolulu and I'm so thankful for them and especially Miguel. The estimated wait time was 1 hour but he arrived in 40 mins. He called to tell me he was about 5 minutes away and I was able to meet him at my car. Miguel was super pleasant and professional. He got out his battery charging tool and went to work right away. I called for roadside assistance through my insurance for locked key in car, the mobile Pop-A-Lock arrived within an hour and quickly opened the door. Unfortunately, the key wasn't inside. After spending the entire next day looking for the key with no luck, I finally decided to call for mobile locksmith service. I got four different quotes that varied from extremely high ($500 range) to $225 for one key. Pop-A-Lock offered under lowest quote and the second key was half the cost from other quotes. Needed a locksmith so I called pop-a-lock. The person who answered asked me questions about the issue I had. Explained I need to get a key that was stuck in the ignition removed. He asked for my personal info before giving me a quote. I asked for the quote and he stated it was $79 flat rate. I needed clarification if that was the set price for the stuck key and he said yes. I needed a peace of mind that no other fees will be added later and the staff member said No that you will only be paying $79. He then asked for my credit card info. I didn't feel comfortable paying up front but he explained that was standard for the company to take my card info and charge the amount. I agreed and gave my cars info. He said they will be sending a locksmith out to me. I asked how long will it be and he said an hour. Hour passed an no locksmith, i told myself ok maybe he is running late so waited another 10 minutes. I finally call the business and was told that there was no locksmith available for the night and tomorrow morning will be the soonest. The company didn't bother to call me to let me know about this. The person I spoke to the second time I called advised me that the other staff member whom I spoke to earlier was in training. Well a call back would have been nice. By showing this initiative, I feel that the LOCAL business foundation is legit and customer service based. Thank you, Benjamin, for your response and remedies for future customers of AHS and Pop-a-lock. Ugh!!! Our realtor had purchased a home warranty (AHS) for us when we bought our home. One of the things that is covered is "rekeying". Pop-a-lock is the affiliated locksmith that works with the warranty company. We called in the request for service and a text was received that Pop-a-lock will be calling us within 48 hours. No one called. My husband called Pop-a-lock who then said they had no record of our request. Okay. Fine. Called AHS for further assistance and was given a PO number to work off of and called Pop-a-lock again to initiate service. We were given a weekend date and time of 2pm after completion of a job in Manoa. Great! Can't wait! Oh but wait we did. I was at work all day and my husband was waiting for Roland, the locksmith, to show up. No one came at 2. He called Roland... no answer. I come home at 4 and still no new body in my house and still no answer from Roland. We finally call Pop-a-lock at 5pm --- 3 fricken hours AFTER he said he was going to be here! They too couldn't reach him. Finally at 6pm, he calls my husband saying he's coming from Ewa. WTH?! So it is now past 7pm and he finally gets here. A courtesy call with an updated ETA vs no call at all would have been EXCEPTIONAL customer service! Or even offering to reschedule because legit... who has fricken time to wait for a confirmed appointment 5 hours past your committed time?! Luckily we were staying in this weekend, but what IF we had plans?! 2stars because Roland was super nice and super efficient even though the courtesy call was missing. Yikes. Pray to God that you're not at an inconvenient spot on the island (We were in Ewa). Locked our keys in our car and called Geico for roadside assistance. They set up an appointment with Pop-A-Lock and we got a confirmation text that someone would be there to help at 750p. This got pushed back to 900p due to "some guys grandma needed to be taken to the hospital. At 930p we called again to see where they where and they said they were on their way... they didn't show up till 1025p. Nearly 3 hours later the vehicle was unlocked. I don't blame the guy who showed up, he was great, but the company needs to higher more agents or give realistic times for support. If you're in town, I'm sure they're great, but it's a hard pass if you live anywhere else. Edit: In response to the owner. The reason I made a comment about acquiring more reps is because the agent himself said they were understaffed recently. There's no excuse for a queing system to be off by 3 hours.
