I have a contract with Poor Boy Termite Control for my rental property. We had the property treated previously by the traditional drill and treat method that most companies use. The problem was that it simply didn't address some of the termite issues in the house. We had termites underneath our hardwood floor that we destroying planks from the underside. Poor boy came in and used their technology to locate where the termites were in the floor and they used micro drills to inject Premise right in the location needed. Now - two years later - there is no further damage. I'm completely happy with these guys, and I'm sold on their approach. During their initial visit, they actually located and treated ALL of the termite paths in the walls (located with their cameras - awesome). I wish I had used these guys the first time around instead of having all of the drill holes around my property. read more

After much research, I felt this company may be treating for dry wood termites, whereas I have subterranean termites, two different methods of control. read more

I highly recommend Poor Boy. We had termites with tubes coming down from bedroom ceiling a few months after we moved into our new home. I called several companies before choosing Poor Boy termite control. They gave me an accurate quote over the phone. I scheduled the appointment. They arrived on time, they explained everything they were going to do and even showed me with their infrared camera where I had termites activity. It is so great that they can pinpoint where the problem is rather than guessing. They did the treatment without damaging my walls or concrete (the drill holes were so small and well placed that no hole repair needed) We have had no termites since they did the treatment. They will even come back out and re-inspect. We also wanted a warranty since we now knew this house had subterranean termites. They offer a great warranty that includes yearly inspections and not just the typical call us if you have a problem. read more

We found a termite tube hanging from the ceiling after just moving in. Poor Boys came over within a few days. He was masked and clean and polite and thorough. Love the minimally invasive treatment. Reasonable price and a good warranty. Haven't seen any signs of a return in the few months since the treatment. Would recommend to anyone. read more

I like this company for a few reasons. The first is that they show up in a truck that looks like it could belong to anyone and doesn't scream " I HAVE TERMITES" in the wrapper on the vehicle. Maybe I don't want everybody on my street to know my business, imagine that. Secondly, when I moved into this house 12 years ago, the house came with this companies 5 year warranty. They had done the drilling and the trenching like the commenter noted below, and they also do the thermal imaging. I can't say which is better because all of us everywhere we live in the desert have termites. And since I'm not a termite expert, I can't say which is better because both seem to be effective for my needs. Now the trenching, seems like it takes care of regular pest control needs for my house, my house however, has an extended cement patio, around three sides of it. So there would be no where for them to trench, other than the side of the foundation by the dog run. Lastly, I'm selling this house. I had the house treated and got a one year warranty for the new buyer cuz I'm nice and sweet like that. But, the company the buyer wants to use, needed to come and do an inspection. They wanted to see the company's paperwork that was here before they were. I showed them the paperwork from Poor boy, and they were like wow that's a good company, we were with them for 20 years, before we decided to do our own company. I think that's pretty coincidental. I live way out in Surprise, this company is from Gilbert, and Poor boy is out in Scottsdale. Of all the companies in the valley that could have been the buyers termite inspector, is the guy that comes out who worked for Poor boy and decided to start his own company so that his kid could work for him, I think that's pretty cool. read more

So thankful for this company. Genuine, honest, friendly, and down to earth. I didn't feel like they just wanted to "sell" me their extended warranty and only spot treat, like any of my experiences with the better-known companies out there. From their customer service team to their technicians, we have had only positive interactions. We purchased a home with a termite problem two years ago and these folks have been a God-send. I have been in Real Estate since 2000 and dealt with dozens of termite companies, via my clients and their shared experiences, and now, I am thankful to be able to recommend Poor Boy Termite exclusively(!!) to any and all. read more

Equipment used by Poor Boy Termite Control is sophisticated and completely necessary to track the insects when their tubes are not visible. Thanks to my contract with them, whenever I see evidence of termite return, a phone call results in their remedying the problem promptly. PLUS they never have left a mess for me to clean up. read more

When we moved into our house it had been treated twice with a drilling treatment. There are multiple sets of drill holes all over the house, even through the epoxy coated garage. We noticed right away that we still had termites in multiple rooms. Once Poor Boy came out they were able to find all the live termites using thermal imaging cameras and we haven't seen termites for years. read more

This company really cared about my concern of having my home destroyed by termites. They were able to effectively treat the problem. It's been almost a year and no signs of infestation. Highly recommend. read more

I have never been so impressed by a pest control company before. Jayce & Jet came out to the house Monday to inspect for termites. They were on time, polite, personable, thorough and honest. Jet showed me the thermal image radar detection device they use. I was able to see what they see inside the walls. Thank God there was no sign of termites. This company didn't even try to sell to me on their products or services. With that alone I have complete trust in this company and will call only them for future services. read more

(2nd review) I wanted to revise my review of Poor Boy Termite Control because after the negative experience we had in July, 2015, they sent out a different gentleman who had happened to have worked on our home several years ago, He was excellent! He was professional, polite and made sure our concerns were all addressed. So, besides the one bad experience we had the one time and with just the one employee, Poor Boy Termite Control gave us very good service. We thank them for that and rate them a 4. ...................................................................................................................................................... (1st review) We've had Poor Boy come out to our house and work on killing and removing termites. Apparently they killed some, but they certainly didn't remove them all. Thankfully, until today, we bought their warranty. The guy that came out was rude, argumentative and frankly, creepy! The same guy told us "they already treated the area we showed him". Actually, "they" didn't treat that particular area, but even if they had, how does he explain the 4 fresh termite tubes ? He of course could not. Eventually, when it was clear he wasn't going to fix the problem, we asked him to leave. Besides being very expensive, slow to come out to do warranty work and unprofessional, the lady that answers their phones was very nice and apologetic. As a 20yr+ business owner myself, what this experience reminds me of is that even 1 awful employee can seriously damage a company's reputation. There is no excuse to be rude to a customer. read more

We started out with a few small spots of termites and were told for $1000 they would kill the termites. Six months later we had more infected places and the ones they treated were bigger. They were always good about coming out they just never killed all the termites.Every time they came out they found new damage. We finally gave up on poor boy termite control when we realized their system of killing termites does not work.We talked to the Arizona department of pest management who told us the warranty is worthless ,does not obligate the company to fix any damage just to come out again.we wasted $1000 but worse our hardwood floor was ruined after we were promised the termites would be eliminated. read more

On time, polite informative serviceman who spent hours looking for and treating termites Most impressive is the fact that they keep records of prior treatments. This is family owned second generation business as well. Try them, you will like the. read more

I used to use Poor Boy a few years back...they were just OK. Usually had to come back a 2nd time to retreat my termites. I switched companies about 3 years ago and they got rid of my termites for over 3 years without having to return a 2nd and 3rd time. Well, the termites are back and decided to call around to get quotes since it had been awhile. I called Poor Boy, what a mistake! The woman on the phone was EXTREMELY rude! I wouldn't use this company if they were the last on the planet! read more

Fantastic service. They took care of our problem very promptly! Highly recommend as you can't go wrong with a family business.

Prompt response. Courteous professional technicians. Derek and David were great. Explained what they were doing before they did it and explained why they did it. they are the best. Debbie at the switchboard is very responsive and personable. I would use them again and again as necessary. read more

I used Poor Boy about a year ago for treatment on my house. They were on time and worked efficiently and cleanly. The heat sensing technology is a really nice bonus so they can identify even small affected areas that maybe have not made it to the surface yet. No signs of any further issues. If they ever come back I will certainly give them another call. read more

I was a customer of Poor Boy for over 15 years and was always very satisfied with their termite treatment where they would drill and trench the entire exterior of the home. I had this treatment done 3 times, each 4-5 years apart as it was totally effective for that length of time. In October 2012, I paid them for another treatment, but noticed this time they used infrared thermal imaging and only "spot treated" in the walls and other locations that they found evidence of termites. This treatment was guaranteed for a year and needless to say, I had termite evidence and damage within a few months. They came out and treated the same way (for no charge since it was guaranteed), but back came the termites! After one year, I was given the option to pay for an extended warranty, but they would not agree to treat with any other system. In my opinion, this latest thermal imaging technology is NOT EFFECTIVE at all! Don't waste your money as termite treatments are expensive, and the damage the termites cause can be even worse!!!! Better to find someone that uses the good old drill and trenching treatment!!! read more
