My story matches R.P.'s and Kambiz's, and others I met after the mistake of hiring Horusicky…read more In October 2024, I hired Horusicky Construction (aka Horusicky Pools; Horusicky Pools & Hardscape LLC) to build a 14'x28' saltwater pool with a mini-pebble finish and auto-cover; replace our tandem 3-car driveway with a 30' side-by-side driveway; and build two concrete patios. We agreed to a contract value of $185,000 ($130K for the pool, $55K for hardscaping) with a 5-month timeline and the pool being finished first. By February 2025, I was billed $141,000. By June 2025, despite having paid 76% of the contract value, I had nothing beyond a concrete pit, a demolished driveway, and destroyed gates leaving our home completely unsecured. After numerous attempts to get Horusicky to finish failed, I hired a Certified Pool Inspector who confirmed my suspicions: Horusicky repeatedly misrepresented the work. He led me to believe multiple inspections passed and only a day of work remained. The City Building & Safety office confirmed post-termination that he completed only 1 out of 13 required inspections. He also utilized a tactic I know he uses on other victims: leaving contracts intentionally vague so he can later demand more money for basic necessities. Six months in--after demolishing our driveway--he claimed the necessary driveway approach work was not included. Expanding a driveway from 9' to 30' while leaving a 6' approach leaves 21' of unusable space. Effectively holding our property hostage with nowhere to park, he indicated this required an additional $10,000 to $15,000 over the contract price. He led us and Public Works to believe he possessed necessary licenses to complete the driveway approach work, which was false. In my opinion, this was a further stalling tactic. When called out on delays, he claimed we obstructed the project with design changes. In reality, the pool design was locked in October 2024 and the driveway in December 2024. The only modifications after that were to the 2 patio locations, resulting from him suddenly finding 'issues' with plans he previously agreed to. These solutions always required more time and money or an altered layout to resolve. Much like R.P.'s family's experience, the minute you stop accepting excuses, he becomes aggressive & hostile, resorting to bullying and harassment. In June 2025, rather than respond in good faith to a final formal opportunity to cure, he hired an attorney, removed his equipment/porta-potty, and tried to manufacture false narratives easily disproven by actual evidence. I ultimately terminated him for project abandonment after he failed to respond to the formal opportunity to cure. As we subsequently began repairs with licensed contractors we uncovered structural and dimension defects. The cover vault dam wall was built lower than the spa dam wall, meaning the vault would flood completely if the pool were filled to the waterline (we had to build a custom tile ledge to correct his error). Furthermore, the structural dimensions of the spa bench-to-floor ratio were entirely incorrect. A 5'3" person sitting on the bench has feet dangling a foot off the spa floor, with the waterline only reaching their mid-chest. On top of that, the spa jets were positioned so low they had to be manually raised or they would be half buried in the mini-pebble finish, and in one egregious instance, a jet was placed directly into the tile above the waterline. Following an investigation, the CSLB found him in violation of Business and Professions Codes § 7117(a) and § 7159.5, validating that he billed for uncompleted work. Furthermore, regarding Horusicky's public claims on Kambiz's review implying a bond denial somehow vindicates him--this completely misrepresents how the system works. A simple Google search tells you bond claims routinely face standard denials when a contractor signals a willingness to litigate, exploiting the fact that exhausted homeowners lack the funds to fight a lengthy court battle after paying twice for a project to be completed. Further with Horusicky a lawsuit is a financial dead end. Public records show that since 2020, he has been moving business and personal assets out of California and into Arizona (verifiable via the Arizona Corporation Commission & Maricopa County Assessor). Suing Horusicky Construction in California yields an incredibly low chance of actual financial recovery because he retains no material assets here to collect on. Furthermore, his bond company, ACIC, is currently the subject of an active California Department of Insurance investigation (Complaint #8741597) regarding its claims handling practices. Do not let his posturing fool you. In my opinion, this business model relies on billing aggressively ahead of the work then leaving California residents with unfinished projects, using legal delays, hiding behind out-of-state assets, and leveraging a cooperative bond company to avoid accountability.

Sub contracting everything out which makes for plenty of weird third party communications about when people were going to be here and it always seemed like no one knew when exactly. they'd make promises that never really materialized, and some of these sub contractors were good, some were just kinda meh. ultimately the job got done in a timely fashion, the pool works, but the finish work was off in a few areas, and I tried to keep them accountable and on top of the things we saw that were just sort of ok during the process and it was always yeah for sure we'll get to that, they'd always miss something. well, I've been asking for a light to get fixed that was put in really poorly, 1 out of 8 and the rest are good. also we've been waiting for some general grout cleanup and finishing and I was originally told by Ryan that they'd get right on it. lots of texts that things would be taken care of and now they've just sort of ghosted me after telling me they'd get right on these last few very small things. Very strange. at the end of the day, I got a pool for a lot of money, they were not our cheapest bid but I trusted Ryan to get it done the best. did he? they did pretty good but there's room for improvement In the quality of workmanship.

They re-plastered our pool and hot tub in January 2014, very fair price, very professional, we are very happy! About a month ago I noticed 2 spots in the deep end where the plaster had cracked and peeled. Not only did Thomas offer to drain the pool, fix the plaster spots, and pay the costs associated with the water company, he personally took time out of his busy day to check the entire pool to see if there were any more spots on the plaster that were defective, there was, and again fixed at no charge. We are thrilled we chose infinity pools in the first place and even more so now that they stand behind their work! Great company, great owners!
