I started with the Calimingo Custom Design Package...3D design of project, fully broken down itemized construction estimate and unlimited revisions within 90 days after first design. My project manager SEAN is informative, prompt, professional and an absolute pleasure to work with. My graphic designer STEVE is magic man. He took my inspirations photos, my terrible drawings and my terribly conveyed verbal descriptions and put them into a beautifully executed design that is exactly my vision that what was in my head. As crazy as this is, it's worth posting. This organization wanted $10,000 for drawings. I got a phone call from a young man who couldn't even remember how many people he had called. The young man actually had the audacity to tell me because I was concerned about how the drawings and the $10,000 was going to be addressed that I probably wasn't the right customer from them, ironically I ended up spending $150,000 with somebody else. The arrogance that some of these companies have because they have a social media presence nice trucks and great videos does not make them great customer service people nor people that seem they care about the product they represent. I will say for the record the owner reached out to try to share his thoughts also sit down and discuss the build, but that's a cultural issue that is not something that changes because somebody tells you a great story to get you back in their office. I would say Calimingo has some reflection they could use on the way their sales folks treat their customers and I have been in the business 30+ years Two STARZ because the owner took the time to try to call. read more

I recently visited a property in North Tustin for a real estate mixer that Calimingo had done the design and build of the outdoor areas for. The design: stunning. Jesse, Sara, and Johnny were present, charming, and informative regarding the property. The way the pool and lounge design wrapped the hilltop view of Orange County was breathtaking and serene. The outdoor living space and fire pit were warm and inviting. There were many focal points throughout, but some of my favorites were the lighting that became more apparent as the sun was setting, and the modern design of the outdoor seating area around the fireplace that added a new feeling to the mid-century modern design of the house on the property. We were interested in transforming our backyard and installing a small pool, plus new landscape. Since this a major home improvement project, I spent alot of time researching local contractors. Calimingo was one of the highest rated and after reading reviews (good or not), and seeing some of their completed projects, they were easily on my short list of contractors. Since most of the contractors we called suggested we have a design to start the (bid/quote) process, we decided to work with Calimingo during the design phase. Sean L. was my primary contact at Calimingo. Alan F. was the design consultant. Specific to the design process, we shared with Alan what we were envisioning, and asked for his expertise/input. The original rendering was stunning (alot of nice upgrades). The price was alittle out of our budget, so we worked with Sean & Alan and made a few minor revisions and the final rendering was perfect for our backyard & budget. After the design, we went out to request quotes from four (4) other contractors (total of (5) with Calimingo). In the end, it came down to two companies, Calimingo and one of their competitors. Working with Sean was a pleasure. Sean has a wealth of experience, knowledge, & expertise. Sean spent alot of time with me throughout this process, patiently working through the design process, suggesting features to keep and which features we could save some money by not including. During the bid/quote process, Sean was extremely patient answering my many inquiries (emails, phone calls) and always very responsive. Absolutely ecstatic about the outcome of the project done by the Calimingo team! This time around, we asked for an extra large outdoor fireplace. This not only serves as a bit of a retaining wall, but has the option for gas or wood burning fire! The fireplace was done in a very timely manner, and the staff was extremely communicative. Our first awareness of Jesse and Calimingo Pools came via a fortuitous stay at one of Jesse's Airbnb properties, who's main attraction was a beautiful pool and rock wall that he'd designed. At some point during the endless hours we spent luxuriating in that pool, we had an epiphany...did we have to be on vacation to enjoy a pool like this? Or was it possible to build one in our own backyard?! We were a little surprised and a lot delighted to discover that we actually could! For a comparatively reasonable price, we were able to design a backyard pool, spa and waterfall of our dreams. We were apparently not the only ones who had that idea, as Calimingo has gotten very busy; it took about a year from first inquiry to breaking ground...but once they started building, the work proceeded very quickly and very professionally, and without interruption - even through winter weather, Omicron, and supply chain shortages. Even a minor unavoidable inspection hiccup during construction that required a small re-design didn't slow them down. Frank, our project manager, was a great problem solver and communicator and kept things moving along. Chicho (sp?), who designed and built our spectacular rock wall, is an artist...the secret sauce that distinguishes Calimingo from anyone else in the area attempting to build rock landscapes. The final result exceeded our wildest expectations. It truly is our dream back yard - resort amenities available to us 24/7/52 weeks a year. It has transformed our home - and transformed our attitudes about being at home. We can't stop gushing about it; we've no doubt grown tiresome at remarking how lucky we feel to be able to experience this luxury in our own home every single day. read more

We had been considering a complete renovation of our backyard for a few years and particularly figuring out if we could put in a pool big enough to be worth it given our backyard size and shape. After seeing Jesse's projects on HGTV a few times, my wife figured it wouldn't hurt checking him out for our project. I immediately assumed that anyone on TV would be overpriced and/or too interested in other projects to really care about ours. Jesse put my concerns about his interest level to rest in our initial consultation and through multiple revisions in the design process. Once we had a design we loved that took into account our goals, it was clear he genuinely listened to our priorities and feedback even though he has a strong artistic vision for his projects. I love that he can balance his taste and our project needs to create compelling results for us! He bid the design including lots of detail for each item and at that point I could compare specific lines against costs from other projects we've done and prior vendors to see that his prices were very reasonable for what we were doing. We gave the greenlight days before COVID hit, and despite permit challenges at the city due to the pandemic and everything else that happened in 2020, Jesse's team (Russ, Joel, Francisco, and crew) got our project done with a minimum of delays and did a fantastic job. Almost as important to me after all the other projects we've done with contractors over the years, when the inevitable challenges arose on a project this complex, Jesse and team handled directly and professionally with a minimum of stress for us.
