In my humble opinion, don't believe Mike Horusicky (the Owners lies), what Kambiz and RP describe is exactly what we are dealing with! And I know of at least one other customer also experiencing this. Don't make the mistake we did, he talks a good line, and for about 6 weeks he is the ideal contractor....just long enough for you to allow the payments to get ahead of the work without realizing it...then bam excuse, after excuse, after excuse. This included hardscape, retaining walls, a built-in stone firepit, an outdoor kitchen with granite counter top, built-in BBQ/stove/sink/refrigerator, and most importantly a large built-in spa (sometimes called a spool) with various water features. All of this was done in seven weeks, in part because we were very quick in responding to his questions and making design decisions with his expert advice. Run from Mike Horusicky!!! It's been almost 7 months since Mike Horusicky began our pool renovation -- giving us a contractual guarantee of completion in less than 2 months. He is now completely MIA -- hasn't spent more than a few hours onsite in over a month -- and we have paid him 95% of the money owed under the contract. All we have to show for the $150,000 paid is a big empty hazard in our backyard. We had to hire lawyers and complain to the California State Licensing Board (CSLB), and yet this guy has done nothing. (And he doesn't seem to be paying his subcontractors because they sent us a notice.) Hiring Mike Horusicky was the single worst decision we've made as homeowners. Even the references he provided gave him spotty reviews. He has left us with an unfinished pool, exposed live wires, uneven pavers, and such a legal mess we had to bring in attorneys just to get him to respond like a professional. Mike Horusicky demanded pre-payment for labor and materials, something we later confirmed is a clear violation of CSLB regulations. Almost every time he was paid, he vanished, stalling the project for weeks with every excuse in the book. The pool shell is cracked, the pavers are uneven, and another contractor was actually shocked by a live wire his crew left exposed. Here's the scary part -- Mike Horusicky crossed a line -- he began harassing my wife with repeated, unwanted messages. We had no choice but to threaten a Temporary Restraining Order to put an end to it. My wife started calling him "Psycho Mike-o," and it rings true in my opinion. We filed a detailed complaint with the Contractors State License Board, and based on their feedback, he's likely in violation of several regulations. I urge others burned by Mike Horusicky to go to the CSLB -- Mike Horusicky should be punished by the CSLB before he can burn anyone else. Ask around, ask your neighbors for honest feedback on Mike Horusicky. So many have been burned. Beware contracting with this pool company. I've been dealing with Mike and hired him to renovate our pool and add a spa. This was over 1.5 years ago. We gave him $21,000 payment to start the work and he said he will work on the plans and get permits. He never got any permits or worked on any plans to get permits. There is no evidence of him submitting our application to the City of LA Building Dept. He then asked for another $20,000 payment to start the work. We paid him $41,000 in total. Sadly the Palisades fires burnt down our home a few weeks ago. We asked Mike that you never started the work and asked for our money back. He said that money was used for past work on permits and coming out to the house for measurements. We are now suing him and filed a claim on his bond and with the Contractors State License Board. He has taken advantage of us and now that our home burnt down he is saying our money is non-refundable and he won't return it. Complete fraudster and an unethical business practice. Stay away from this company and save yourself a headache dealing with this fraudster. read more

We called Mike because our pool is leaking and we had heard good things about him. Our first call went unreturned, but he responded to our second call. He showed up on time and had things to say about our pool that made sense to us. He committed to providing an estimate for the work, which passed with no response. We called and he committed to a new date, which again was missed. We called two more times, no response. At this,point we gave up. I am giving Mike two stars instead of one purely on the basis of the good reviews he has gotten from others. My best guess is that he is good if he actually feels inclined to do your work. If you are not so lucky, he does not seem capable of showing common courtesy. read more

Mike and his company remodeled my back year pool area in 2021. The project was substantial and had some unexpected issues along the way like finding the gas line needed replacing. Their work is superb. I regularly get compliments on my pool and hot tub including the cover and decking. The lights are amazing and the "Horusicky Blue" color of the pebble tech is gorgeous. Mike's recommendations were always on point and I'm glad I listened to his ideas. His crew were always clean and tidy and polite; especially when we were working at home during construction. The quality of the finished product was wonderful. Since completing construction his company services the pool weekly. Any issues and he has a team or engineer out same day to evaluate; that's why it's great using a local company. I strongly recommend them for a new or remodeled pool. My pool was losing 2" of water per day! Horusicky built my pool and jacuzzi 6 years ago and all of a sudden it was losing water. I contacted Mike and asked him to stop by, but he told me to contact Leak Locators. I contacted them and after about a week they were able to come out and verify we had a major leak in the wall between the jacuzzi and the pool. I forwarded the report to Mike but he told me to have Leak Locators fix it because they would be less expensive than his company. A week later Leak Locators was able to give me a quote to repair the pool and it was $2200.00. I approved the bid. They came out and found the problem which was the jacuzzi jet coupling that is normally 1 3/4" long was cut down to only 1/4" so it would fail eventually. The repair guy showed me a normal jacuzzi jet next to the one he pulled out and you can see why it failed. Please see the picture attached. The reason for them cutting down the sleeve is because when they did the rough plumbing they put the pipes to close to the wall so they mickey moused the job. The repair guy from Leak locators said the work was really bad and he also showed me that they put rocks in the wall instead of just making the wall solid concrete. In 20 years he has never seen that done. Mike denied my claim for repairs but when I showed him the pic of the cut down jacuzzi valve, he blamed it on his subcontractor and said he would get back to me. 10 days later and no response. I got the pool repaired and it is fine now but who knows if they did the same thing on another valve and I will have to deal with this again. So a good job is not just a nice looking pool it is the workmanship that you can not see. Horusicky not only did very bad work, he did not want to make it right. I had called your office on more than one occasion and when I needed your office to answer that day, my call went to voicemail. If you came out, you went to the wrong house. We're still in the middle of our pool project but just wanted to give a positive shout out for our pool guy Mike! When we first talked to him, he was able to give us many names of customers to check on and a detailed bid to show how it broke down (which included the lights, automatic pool cover, etc.). We're building our house, so we had to have stage one of the pool built first and when the house is finished, he's going to come back and do the finish work and coping. He's been really accommodating for the idea changes we've had. We're building a 40'x7' lap pool and adjoining spa and decided to go deeper to dive. He's got the steps and the corner seat just the way I wanted also. I'll post an update in 8 months or so when the project is finished. But I would and have recommended him to others. He's also been very responsive to the emails and texts that I've sent him so far about our project. He will usually reply within the hour during my daytime emails and within minutes to those I've sent in the evening. Two thumbs up from me! I honestly don't understand these reviews. I have never in my life dealt with more condescending and arrogant people. They bid the exterior of my home and refused to give me an itemized breakdown of the costs of the job. Mike acted like I was asking for something that was unheard despite the bid being 10's of thousands of $! I've gotten a few bids and all of them have been itemized. When you get a car repaired you get an itemized list. Hospital the same. Apparently they just don't want or need the work. Very disappointed. read more

They put in a very large spa (called a spool because of its size), a wraparound outdoor kitchen with built-in BBQ, fridge, sink, a firepit we use all the time, and a beautiful, hardscaped portion which matched our old PV stone retaining wall while leaving lots of room for nice landscaping. All of this was completed on time and on budget. His people have also serviced our spa and pool equipment, weekly, since that time. And, when something goes wrong, his team makes their best effort to be responsive to come out and diagnose and then fix it. Mike put in our pool five years ago and it is still beautiful to this day. Mike was easy to work with as he listened to our wishes design wise and helped us every step of the way including which stone would compliment our design the most. He followed his commitment to us as stated in his all inclusive contract for timelines, costs and completion schedule. We even had a warranty issue come up on a piece of equipment 4 years after the initial installation. I called Mike and he took care of it immediately! I interviewed six other well known builders for my job which required the engineering of a retaining wall as part of the pool construction. None of the others seemed to know how to handle this requirement other than putting the pool where I didn't want it. Mike has been fantastic to work with! My backyard pool was a disaster with cracks, leaks, and outdated equipment. I had several contractors bid, but Mike was confident he could produce a backyard pool that was enjoyable again. He worked with me from stage I and explained everything. We showed Mike a picture of an amazing raised edge pool and spa and told him to "build this in our backyard" in 2015. It was a challenging project that involved a hillside slope and engineering solutions that required several city hall inspector visits and permit meetings.
