When we purchased our new house, it came with a spa bathtub that was from the 1980s and had a non working motor. As this is the only tub in the house, we wanted to make sure we could get the jets working so that we could properly clean the tub. After working with our go-to contractor and attempting to replace the motor, it became clear that this was not going to be a straight forward fix and was not within scope of our contractor's skillset. We called Classic Spa and Mike was able to come out right away and help us fix the issue. He even got the old motor working again! Mike not only fixed our tub, but he also explained to us novice spa users how it works, how to care for it, and what the limitations are for the way it is currently set up (1980s tech). We should have started with Classic Spa and we would have avoided a lot of money and time headaches caused by trying to fix the issue through our general contractor. I would 100% recommend Classic Spa and Mike to anyone who needs service. read more

Mike was great. I saw an F1 Flow Error on my 3 year old jacuzzi and the usual tricks didn't work to fix it. He diagnosed the issue over the phone, had the part in his truck and came out the next day to replace it. Also very helpful with some basic maintenance tips (leave top open for 15 minutes after adding chemicals, no need to replace filters more than every 3 years, use less chlorine!). read more

Mike has always been great. Always on time, giving us excellent advice and doing very professional work. We've had our spa for 10 years and it looks and works as good as the day that we got it. Thanks to Mike and Classic Spa I believe they will keep it going for another 10 years and then somr read more

Mike from Classic Spa Service was professional and knowledgeable. He was able to diagnose my spa panel problem by phone, so when he arrived, he already has the correct parts in his truck. He fixed my spa, it works perfectly now, and I feel I was not overcharged. I highly recommend Mike and Classic Spa Service. I hope I won't need them again, but if I do, I will definitely ask for Mike. read more

We have NOT used Classic Spa's services, and they did try to help us with more information. However, Classic Spa recommended us a total scam artist to us as a pool repair professional. He ripped us off for $5500, providing only very partial repair (using painted, used material! ) and leaving many things undone. Be aware of "Schafer Pools" or "Shawn Schafer", who may sound knowledgeable and nice but is nothing but a total scam. We know several people who have had the same experience as us and we believe there are more. This disgusting predator is still out there, ready to deceive more people. read more

We have been working with Mike Durrand since we found him online in 2019. We owned a very old hot tub, which he was able to help us keep running. However, when it became apparent that it was "dying", he was very honest with us as opposed to continuing to drive up costs through repairs. At that point, he recommended that we shop for a new one and advised us re: brands that he had experience with. He never charged us for this consultation time and was always available for questions. After our new hot tub was delivered, he did the installation and training on use and maintenance and continues to be available for questions. We highly recommend Classic Spa Repairs! I have been in the market for a new spa person and Michael is amazing!! The other company I used were horrible. They came out drained, cleaned and filled the spa. He explained everything that was being done (and what had not been done before). He also helped me order a new cover. He was so professional, kind and even called that he was running a couple minutes late., WOW!! They will now be doing my monthly service and anything else I need. I called Mike about my wooden hot tub that needed a repair. Unfortunately, I was out of his service area. He was kind and generous to send me a referral so it can get fixed right away. I appreciated that - it shows a lot of care and integrity. Thank you Mike! PS turns out Mike's referral turned out to be a total unprofessional ghosting dud. Too bad there isn't a Mike closer to me. I appreciate him trying though! read more

I've had an opportunity to work with several companies as it pertains to washers, dryers, refrigerators, plumbing, painting...etc, but never was I in need of a Spa repair person. Where would I start, why not ask YELP. When I came across Classic Spa, I figured they were near by and with an individual having 30 years in the business, that in itself was a sense of success. How many people can say they've been in the same business for 30 years? When I spoke to the owner, not only did he say he could fix it...but he indicated that since my Catalina Spa was only a few years old...it might be under warranty. Wowww who gives honest advice these days? I then call and made an appointment on line and they came out as promised. A young man named "Mike" came on time and tried several ways to fix one of the two pumps and even went so far as to call the manufacture themselves to for some additional support. He replaced the fuse, reset the breaker and tested all areas to ensure power was working. Eventually, he indicated that that the pumps bearing were out and though he gave me a quote, he recommended I try to see if the Executive 56 Waterway was under warranty. he grabbed my phone and took pictures that I may need to share with the manufacture and put everything back the way is was found. Soon thereafter, I called Catalina and they had sold and moved the business from Perris, California to Nashville, Tennessee. After several attempts to reach Catalina's new owners, I decided to buy the pump online for $450. Having to think again, I decided to call Nashville one more time and lo and behold they picked up and in fact told me my spa was under warranty for 16 more days. My purchase date was 9/16/16 and they immediately sent me a new pump! NO CHARGE! On Friday, September 6, my new pump arrived and I scheduled "Mike" to return. I left a message that I would not be home and the pump would be adjacent to the spa. At 10 am, Mike called to tell me the pump had been installed and all was working perfectly. The old pump was left in the box and he even had some pool products to balance out the spa water. I can't thank CLASSICSPA enough for they're professionalism and as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, I consider myself one who doesn't so well with mediocrity. Classicspa passes that standard and I highly, HIGHLY recommend them from phone support, integrity, and service. In my book, from the owner down to the technicians, they're second to none! THANK YOU CLASSIC SPA FOR YOUR HONESTY...AND FOR PUTTING CUSTOMER OVER SALES FIRST. THANK YOU. Dr. Felix Mendoza, Jr. read more

They just repaired my broken hot tub. They put in a new control panel / heater system and cleaned it out. They had me order a better filter system which is 10 times better. Great people. Very professional. Would recommend them to anyone. Hubbs- Torrance read more

Mike was relentless in fixing our tub spa motor and capacitor issue. He arrived early, was intelligent about deducing the core issue(s), and ultimately fixed the problem. And, he's funny as heck while completing the task. We will use him again. Worth every penny. Thanks, Mike. read more

Man, I am the 99th reviewer! I wish I was 100 because my review would be even cooler! I found Classic Spa on yelp, I read the reviews and my service was consistent with the service received. I submitted my request via their website at night, I got a call in the morning, and my service was performed by 9 AM. I had a difficult to troubleshoot issue that resulted in a second visit and Mike came back the following day and remedied the problem. Great customer service, thorough and professional. You can't go wrong with these guys. My actual cost was higher than quoted and Mike automatically discounted the difference in my favor without me even asking. This is class, and honesty! Two things that are not very common nowadays! read more

I don't think I've ever seen a service provider who has nothing but 5-star reviews...but this is not a fake. The dude is amazing. I went in just to buy chemicals and left with a step-by-step sense of what I had been doing wrong - and how to fix it. He even made a joke that, because I'm a new spa owner, I'm the easiest to "train". Mike has my business for as long as I own my spa! read more

This is a second review... an update as we are repeat customers: CLASSIC SPA SERVICE DESERVES 6 or more STARS!! We were all ready to give up on our 2002 Sundance Cameo spa. We even looked to purchase another spa and then we remembered about Mike Durrand and his crew from Classic Spa Service. We used his very handy and efficient website: ClassicSpaService.com. He confirmed right away! AND... he came over to evaluate our spa within 24 hours. The good news was that our spa was repairable at a fraction of the cost of a new or reconditioned one. Within just a few days our spa was completely fixed and updated with new parts and looks nearly NEW! Mike also did a follow-up visit to make sure that we were perfectly happy and that all was in proper working order. There were no surprises with fees and the repair cost exactly what we expected. Like I said, SIX STARS! Maybe even more!! :-) read more

Id give them 6 stars if Yelp had one more! I went to Classic Spa after having bad results with a different local spa guy... Customer service was poor, never showed up on time and more. WHAT A RELIEF!!! Used them a few times with great results. I needed a pump fixed and they came out and tried to fix it but for whatever reasons, it didn't get fixed. Life took over for me and I ignored it until i really needed my spa back. I set an appointment online and they were at my house early, fixed the prior problem... (I need to mention that it was Mike the OWNER that personally made sure he came out to see this). Didnt charge me as he felt he wanted to make good on the last repair. Needless to say, Im a customer for life! If you want 40+ years of experience in the biz, GREAT customer service as well as professional people.... dont look further! Excellent service! Mike showed up this morning, detected what was causing the leak and fixed in no time. He then went on to advise me on the proper way to keep the spa clean. I didn't even know there was a filter in it that needed to be taken out and cleaned. He did that for and also tested the water. Needless to say, I will definitely recommend Classic Spa Service to my realtor, friends and family. Superior service is hard to find these days. So glad I was referred to Mike & Classic Spa Service. read more

I gave 2 Stars because I was helped in the beginning and was very grateful to Mike and I believe Lars? When it comes to typical services they have other individuals that do the work which is fine, but when they don't care to contact you after your 1st service when requesting to be let known when the service is finished and if I was to put in the chemicals or not, or just to know what services where provided, was frustrating. Then the 2nd time they came out he took the hidden key then left it on a table (not where it was supposed to go back). This was my personal key and they know I live with 5 people who would take the key if they had the opportunity leaving me with no key. Then I spoke with Mike and he tells me the worker said they never used the key and the door was unlocked. My roommates had no idea where the key was so that is impossible. Then they left me with 2 confusing bills of $125.00 & $95.00 and no total. I requested if this person did not service us anymore. Mike told me his company isn't McDonald's you can't have it your way we will just cancel your services. That's Burger King Mike, lol, but I am sure someone else will accommodate me and not leave a key out for anyone to take since our door was left unlocked. read more

After a power outage in Manhattan Beach my Sundance Spa stopped working. After reading positive Yelp reviews I decided to give Classic Spa Service a call, and I am glad I did. Mike spent 10 minuets on the phone with me and suggested that I turn off the circuit breaker and try replacing the fuse. He told me exactly where to locate the fuse and where to buy it. The end result was a $5 purchase at Home Depot and a working Spa. Mike could have scheduled a service call for which I would have gladly paid. But instead, gave me free advice. This company puts customer service above quick profit. Classic Spa Service lives up to their name! read more

After dealing with less than satisfactory spa service and high pricing for replacement equipment I decided to shop around and give Classic Spa Service a shot. The website mentions Mike has been in business for a while and prides his integrity, honesty, and transparent service. I am glad I gave him a call. Mike just saved me close to $1000 on repair that was quoted by Don Baker Spa who had told me I needed a new heater for my spa. Instead, I paid Classic Spa/Mike his minimal diagnosis fees ($110 in 2015) and he fixed it in 10 minutes!. He walked me through with the equipment to show everything, and how things are working fine - and showed me how to reset the system. What DB Spa did to trick me was unethical and criminal, but I am glad to run into Classic Spa who restores trust in local business ethics. Mike showed me how to reboot the heater (which was not in the manual). He also helped me understand how to take care of the spa more easily, and fixed the diverter that was starting to leak, and told me in plain language why that was happening and what needed to be done - and fixed it. What can I add to this review? If honesty, integrity, and professionalism mean anything to you, look no further. 40 years of experience and customer referral to go with my review. Don't waste your time and money looking for other people to fix or help with your spa troubles. I highly recommend. read more

I have a Spa that I bought in 1985 used. It is a large 4-6 person tub that I love. Unfortunately, over the years the mechanics fell into disrepair and although the fiberglass tub and jets were fine, it went unused for over a year. I priced replacement spas of that size and they were running $8,000 to $11,000 dollars. That's when I called Michael at Classic Spa Service. I made an appointment for him to see if my spa was even repairable. He showed up right on time and I was impressed with his knowledge of my spa which to that time I had no information on. He knew who manufactured it, where, and when. He gave me an unbelievable deal to replace all the old pneumatic controls with digital and replace the control unit, motor, pump, heater, and filter with new state of the art systems. He did the replacement in two days and always texted me ahead of his visits and was right in time. Michael told me that he has been in the business for over 50 years, and his experience shows. I now enjoy my spa every night after a hard day at work and it is totally relaxing - thank you Michael! I highly recommend Classic Spa Service to anyone in need of repairs or maintenance on your spa. Mike will be the first one to tell you: there is no one else in the business who knows as much about spa repair as he does. Well, after dealing with at least half a dozen other techs before finding him on Yelp, I can tell you with great confidence that he is absolutely right! We've been having trouble with our CalSpas swim spa for as long as we've owned it. Never been able to figure out how to make it work for more than a month or two. Within minutes (seconds, actually) Mike figured out our first issue and told me to test it out for a while to see if there were any underlying problems. There were, so he came back out the next day and, again, within minutes, could tell by the sound my spa was making what the problem was. Fixed that too. We had him & Dave empty the unit and do a much-needed deep cleaning too --- it's like a brand new unit! We are overjoyed! I'm so grateful to have found such an astute spa professional. I just bought a new home 3 weeks ago and it came with a 12' Swim Spa. I searched around for someone to come out to my home and clean the spa, make sure it's working properly and teach me how to use it. I went through 5 regular pool service companies that kept telling me they couldn't or wouldn't help. Then I found Mike on Yelp and sent him a message. He responded within a day. We spoke on the phone twice. He told me that Thousand Oaks was a bit far for him to travel but he said he had faith in me that I could take care of everything myself with him guiding me. He asked me to email him the owners manual so that he could read it and explain to me what to do. I just got off the phone with him and he broke it all down. Unbelievable that he spent as much time with me as he did and didn't ask for a dime. Here is someone that truly loves his craft. He has been at this for over 40 years and I bet he feels like he has never worked a day in his life. That's what it's like when you have passion for what you do. Thank you Mike for your time and patience. Your generosity did not go unnoticed. Check your mail in a couple of days :) Mike Pincus read more
