I had a very nice time here for a Saturday brunch. My friends and I shared a delicious chocolate croissant at the start of the meal. I had the Croque Monsier sandwich with frites for my main meal, and it was all very good. I also enjoyed a Cloud sparkling water which was delicious. Service was friendly and fantastic throughout the meal, and the value was great considering the quality of the food and the experience. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Food was excellent but service was TERRIBLE. We ordered a couple croissants to have before our meal, yet the waiter brought all of our food together at the same time with the croissants. He checked on us a total of one time throughout the time we were there, I asked for a refill on my beverage, waited over 15 minutes for it, then ended up asking someone else for one. Of course he charged us for the initial beverage AND the refill. We would've tried dessert but we'm were so irritated at the whole experience we just wanted to leave. read more

This is a quintessential French bistro to come to and when you enter it just transports you to the restaurants in France with it's warm, inviting atmosphere and top quality service. For dinner, I've enjoyed the warm tomato tarte, escargot, and steak tartare. The tomato tarte has a very flaky pastry and some very high quality and sweet tomatoes for the filling that are just gently cooked and bursting with flavor. The fromage blanc cheese ties it all together and adds a subtle saltiness. The escargot are classically done with sizzling herb butter and just a great and reliable starter. The steak tartare is very flavorful, but a little small for the price. For entrees, I've enjoyed the bouillabaisse, lobster roll, and the roasted chicken. The chicken has very crisp skin with incredibly buttery pomme puree. The lobster roll is done very well, but I would have liked some more interesting flavors to pair with the lobster. The bouillabaisse is super flavorful with fresh seafood, an addicting broth, and a very interesting flavored toast served alongside it. Standouts for dessert are the red velvet cake, chocolate pot de creme, and the king's apple, which is basically an apple crostata with a sweet and sour apple gelato that livens the dessert up. However, I think brunch is where Pomeroy really stands out. The crepes are expertly made, with the nutella and classique flavors being my favorites. The quiche lorraine is also delciious with soft egg custard and flaky pastry with a bright and tart side salad. The croque madame is also delcious and filling and a must for a classic French breakfast. This has become a staple for me for dinners and I've been back numerous times. read more

Their Food presentation was masterful, help staff charming and knowledgeable, pretty outdoor space on a gorgeous day; who could ask 4 more? Ok; one down side; way too noisy! To celebrate my daughter's birthday, we went to Pomeroy for brunch. It was a lovely experience. We were were greeted with complimentary glasses of champagne. The food was delicious. At the end of our meal, we were given a sizeable piece of red velvet cake to share, which came with a candle to celebrate the birthday. A shout out to our server, Phil. Love this place. Absolute hidden gem for the north shore. Top tier French food, even competes with the French places downtown. Bartenders are always super cool and remember me every time I come back. Bouillabaisse is the best I've ever had, Coq Au Vin on Sundays is unreal. As for appetizers, you can't order a bad one really, escargot, pate, Foie Gras, steak tartare all amazing every time. Oysters is one of my only complaints, $25 for 6 of the smallest east coast oysters I've ever seen. Like absolutely tiny lol, huge ripoff, tiger shrimp are really good but massive ripoff as well for 4 shrimp. Steaks are fantastic. Burger is exceptional. Another complaint is the cocktails, none of them are very good and I do not like the glass they come in really. Martini glass is not traditional, more coupe style. Wines are pretty good, wines by the glass list could definitely be better but I still always find something that suits me. Wish this place would get some absinthe so I could order a Sazerac. Overall though, this is probably the best restaurant in the northern suburbs. Top tier read more

My new favorite restaurant. Everything was amazing. My family and I went for brunch and I'll highlight everything that my family ordered. Warm Chocolate Croissant, Omelette, Lobster Roll with fries, Tuna Tartare, Jus de Jardin, Bacon, Sausage, Cappuccino, Dragonfly (drink). I can't speak highly enough of the food. I ordered the Lobster Roll and it was the best one I ever had. The bread was warm and soft and it mixed it perfect with the sauce and the lobster. The fries taste like McDonalds fries (that's a good thing). I can't wait to go back. The whole family loved it. read more

We've been here before and it was ok. This time was really good. We really like Gemini in Lincoln Park which is from the same restaurant group. The bread is $5, yet was really good. Server didn't tell us before ordering (and we didnt notice on menu and forgot from previous visit), which is fine I guess. Might bother other people so worth mentioning. Had the French onion soup which was really good, yet very "herby" flavors. I like mine more meaty flavor, yet that's my personal preference. The tomato salad was really good. The Steak à la Bordelaise done medium rare was perfectly done and very tender. Flavor was spot on. The frites were great where they can sometimes be an afterthought at other French restaurants for some reason. Did not have room for dessert. Overall a great experience and will be back. read more

Pomeroy is the best French cuisine on the North Shore. From the outside it looks more like a sleepy street cafe but when you enter your are surprised to find a spacious bustling lively restaurant with an active circular bar that creates a sense of adventure and an excitement as to what will come. I was there on a Monday night. Usually On a Monday one can find a tired apathetic staff. Not on this night. Everyone was engaged from bussers,waiters,managers. We ordered pate,onion soup and a salad. All were fabulous. My wife had Salmon it was cooked perfectly as was my roasted chicken crisp on the exterior moist inside. Mashed potatoes delicious with a tiny hint of garlic. All the tastes were delicate and delicious. The to the the Desserts Profiteroles. The warm chocolate syrup was some of the best I've ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant. The only concern to me was their house French wines. I expected better choices. I missed a very light delicate Pinot noir. Most were heavy and jammy. Anyway. Had a nice table on front porch at 5:30pm on Saturday. We wanted to try a couple of different dishes and decided to share a few things. Our waiter rolled his eyes and couldn't have been more rude and dismissive. At the end of our meal, he plopped the check on the table without a word - no 'thank you' - no 'have a nice evening'. We were trying to decide if that was just his dry sense of humor or was he just plain rude. We decided rude. He made us feel cheap and unwelcome. Food was good, but portions small. We were all very much looking forward to checking out this "very happening" place. Unfortunately, at the end of the night our group decided that ultimately it is not worth the hype, or a return visit. The place is really big, and has a classic, old-school feel. Definitely feeling the bistro vibes, and the interior is tastefully appointed. The service and wait staff are absolutely top-notch! Our waitress was always around without being overbearing. I believe they assign one waiter to a handful of tables, to ensure that they are around when guests need them. There were also several bus people who cleaned the tables very efficiently. As well as several managers who were friendly and introduced themselves as they made the rounds. The food itself was not bad at all! The issue that we experienced was the disparity between the prices, the quantity of food on some plates, and the actual taste. The prices are quite high, and the quantity of food on the plate is modest. The kicker is that the food tastes OK but does not wow, and for the prices, and the modest quantity, one would expect at least the taste to be out of this world to justify it, right? And it is not. It is not bad, but just does not command such prices. Also, it feels strange to have to pay $5 for a bread basket at a French restaurant, though its 4 pieces were absolutely delicious! To sum up our impression of Pomeroy restaurant in a phrase would be "A French restaurant in Winnetka for the locals who do not seem to know any better". This is the place to feel special for your celebration. They will have specially printed menus for your party and champagne ready for toast. My kids loved the dragonfly drinks and of course, warm baguette with butter. The traditional French dishes may taste but different from what you are used to Onion soup had a hint of tomato taste and sweetness and the mussels broth was thicker and creamier than expected. wow this place is absolutely fantastic!! the tomato tarte was buttery, flaky and the tomatoes were so good! the bouillabaisse had fresh seafood and a delicious broth base. the steak and fries were delicious too, so tender with a red wine sauce and the fries were perfectly crisp with a garlic aioli. the profiteroles for dessert had such a rich chocolate ganache sauce. and my spritz cocktail was so refreshing and light! even the bread and butter was spectacular! overall a 10/10 and i will be back soon to try everything else on the menu! also, the ambience is so great! i seriously felt like i was back in a bistro in paris! cannot recommend enough! read more

When the Pomeroy first opened it was outstanding. Courteous, knowledgeable front of house and wait staff. Solid menu with excellent price / value. Two consecutive times now, I have made reservations for non-peak hours and had to wait. Then literally paid $52 for two glasses of average French white wine at the bar. We made a seating request that was totally ignored. We had to wear our winter coats next to the window in front. Finally, I ordered the trout almandine with green beans. I was given six, yes six, beans and the smallest piece of tout (paper thin) I've ever had! Drink markups are outrageous and the food portions are petite to say the least.
