Delulu

Rating: 4.3/5 [Delivery]…read more I found Delulu on UberEats (4.8 stars) and Google (5 stars) but didn't see it on Yelp. They were running a BOGO deal on Postmates so we decided to try it, and they did not disappoint! Generous portion sizes that could easily feed a family. The flavors were bold--sometimes a little overwhelming--so the whole meal felt like going from one extreme to another. Mango Crunch ($12.99): Lettuce, cabbage, kale, and mango salad tossed in green ranch, topped with LimeLu bites. This was yummy and could have been my favorite if it wasn't drenched in dressing. They added so much green ranch that I had to mix in rice to balance it out. Big Lu ($18.99): Comes with two chicken bites and two sides. The chicken was juicy, not super crispy after delivery, but still tasty. MadLu: Green curry, sour cream, and hot sauce. I expected Thai-inspired flavors since their sandwich version is called Mad Thai, but it leaned more Indian with the green curry. WaterLu: Hot maple, mustard, and smoked butter. I liked it better without the mustard since it was very strong and overpowering. Rice & Noods: Skip this side. The noodles were hard, and this side didn't add much. Fries: Nothing special, but good if you crisp them up in an air fryer. Corn Ribs ($5.90): Tossed with chili cream and spicy togarashi. The corn was soft, flavorful, and easily the best corn ribs we've had in Austin so far. Not sure which item the pickled cucumber, cabbage, and onion salad came with, but it was very sour.

I've been to their location off 6th street, but I couldn't remember a thing. Here, I knew I wouldn't forget. Happy Chicks off Burnet is small. There's like 5 tables inside, and the line's path wraps around them. Their menu is simple. Chicken fingers? If so, how many? I ordered their Happy Chick with 3 tenders that I got spicy. All orders come with fries plus an extra side and a sauce. I got a side of their mac and cheese and some honey mustard. Chicken is an uphill battle especially if it's cooked shortly after ordering. 10 minutes later, and our food was served to us outside. The breading on those tenders was intense. They were crispy with an earth-shattering crunch with plenty of flavor. The spicy was not spicy whatsoever. Just a slightly more seasoned tender. The fries were crispy and a pretty standard affair at a local spot like Happy Chicks. The mac was a great side choice as I thought they did a pretty nice job with them as well. The prices were pretty fair with a chicken sandwich costing $9.99 and my 3-piece meal costing me a cool $12.50 There's so many chicken tender spots going around in Texas, but it's always cool to come to an Austin-localized spot to mack down on some poultry. The skin was incredibly crispy (just how I like it!) and the soy garlic sauce had a great balance of sweet and savory flavor without being overpowering. They definitely didn't skimp on the size either--5 wings was more than enough! I skipped the sides this time because I wanted to focus on the wings, but their onion rings caught my eye, so I'll definitely be back to give those a try. Now...the only downside was the parking. It looked like the front parking lot had been freshly painted because every parking space was blocked off with cones. Everything appeared dry, so I wasn't sure why the cones were still there. That forced everyone to park in the back, which was already super congested. I mentioned it to the staff, but they didn't seem too concerned. Honestly, if I hadn't been determined to try this place--or if it had been any hotter outside or I hadn't gotten lucky finding a parking spot--I probably would've left. Thankfully, the wings made up for the inconvenience! If they can get the parking situation figured out, this spot will be an even better experience. I'll definitely be back...and next time, those onion rings are coming home with me!

My biggest issue isn't the quality of the food--it's the portions. I ordered two vermicelli bowls with grilled pork, and I was honestly shocked by how little pork came with each order. It genuinely felt like they picked out the tiniest pieces of pork they could find, and I ended up with SO many noodles left over because there just wasn't enough meat to balance everything out. I think that's what disappointed me the most. One of the things I love about Vietnamese food is that it's usually such an incredible value. The portions are typically generous, the prices are affordable, and you leave feeling really satisfied. Here, I felt like I was paying quite a bit for a meal that just didn't feel very substantial. Overall, I still think the food itself tastes good, which is why I'd probably order again if I was really craving it. I just really wish they were a little more generous with the portions because I don't think the value quite matches the price. If they increased the amount of grilled pork, I'd probably enjoy this place SO much more!

Also, my niece had to stop at the light on Lamar and vomit the carne asada tacos out in front of all of the cars waiting at the light by us. I tried to ask her what happened but she still doesn't have the words to explain what upset her stomach. I felt so sorry cause I picked the place.
