How many places can you say that both main dish and sides are good? Also, for it to be reasonably priced? Ordered the 1/2 chicken plate. Comes with (1)breast, wing, thigh, and leg. Sides were beans and Cole slaw. Ordered a small order of Mac and cheese. Total was ~$26. Whenever my wife and I travel, we usually share plates so we have more room to try other things. 100% enough food for two people to hold you over for a solid meal with out making you take a nap. If you're hungry, that plate it self will absolutely keep you full for the 50% of the day. Staff has always been friendly. Service is generally quick but there can be a line depending upon when you arrive. Pro tip is to order to go if you have a nearby hotel or to door dash. If you eat inside, inside has plenty of tables and chairs. Cafeteria style more or less where you sit what's available. Plenty of staff to lend assistance. Generally people are chill

I was warmly greeted at the entrance by the gentleman manning the cash register and takeout orders. My server was Hannah C. and she took great care of me and her other customers. She was pleasant, thoughtful, attentive, and had a great personality. She told me about their Saturday special (today only) on fried chicken wings. She was thoughtful in bringing one of those fly fans to my table because I sat in the corner where they seem to congregate. She was a joy (10/10)! I ordered the starter of Fried Green Tomatoes, served with ranch dressing (4/5). I finally got a chance to try it. It had a nice seasoned coating on them. The tomato itself was firm and slightly bitter but I liked them. I ordered the Snacks 2 piece Dark, which includes the chicken & white bread (4/5). The chicken was crunchy, juicy, and had a little heat. YUM! Come check them out. Support your local business.

The beef samosas were absolutely excellent crispy, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of our meal. Between the rolls, I preferred the shami kabab roll over the chicken tikka roll, though both were enjoyable. The mango lassi was decent, but not particularly memorable. The sweet lady behind the counter was incredibly kind, and it's clear that the people running this place are hardworking and passionate about what they do. We were visiting from Houston and took the food back to our hotel room for a late-night snack. We're so glad we decided to stop by! Highly recommended if you're craving authentic Pakistani street food!

Mona's (a portmanteau of the parents names' first syllables) has a small menu of traditional offerings, from samosas, patties, parata rolls, and chutneys. The truck is helmed by Momma Mona but her twin sons run the operations and have crafted the recipes. I tried several items and it is absolutely ridiculous how delicious everything was. The samasos of potato (papa) were expertly crafted and reminded me of flautas de papa when they are done right. Crispy, flavorful, and "light" ... just perfect. The parata rolls, made from an egg based recipe, was expertly crafted; the shami kabab was filled with beef. Paired with the mint chutney, it was a great balance. The sauces were on point and varied in heat level, but nothing excessive. Sameer (sp?) explained that the sauces are a bit on the milder side to accomodate the taste palate but the spiciest version had some punch. Last but not least was the beef patty which was a stellar, absolutely phenomenal flaky pastry with their signature shredded spicy chicken. It rivaled some of the best bakery offerings I've had, the flakiness left me laughing out loud from the quality. Whenever I venture into another culture's cuisine, I can certainly tell if I like it or not, but not how rooted the dishes are. I appreciated Sameer's discussion of his families food; his mom has been in the industry for years and finally decided to venture out with her twin sons. I'm glad they did. The craziest realization was that there was likely so many drunk patrons who stumble out of Shangrila at 2:10AM likely have no idea they had some of the best Pakistani food you can find. *Shout out to Joe from Taano Beverages for the rec; he's neighbors with Mona's. Always lovely to see small business genuinely support other small businesses.

While visiting Austin, I went to Roots Chicken Shak before heading back to my hotel. You order at a kiosk and can then have your food in their spacious seating area. Ordered the chicken sando and biscuit sando wit a side of fries and some of their sweet tea. These are made to order so there is a little wait. Pro tip: since the food is made to order and not under heat lamps, it comes out pretty hot so you may want to wait a bit before you bite into it, unless you're into that kinda of pain The breading on the chicken, on top of having all these great spices added to it, is super crispy and light. It has such a fantastic crunch. The chicken too, is super juicy and flavorful. The sandwich itself is great as it comes and all the toppings work perfectly together. That potato bun is something else and really brings everything together. The biscuit is quite nice, buttery and big enough to hold that massive piece of chicken. The sweet jalapeno jam add a good kick of spice. Oh the duck fat fries! These really dont need anything added to the them. Just enjoy them as they come as they're perfection.

Spicy Boys has four locations in the Austin area, with probably their most popular at Zilker Brewing. They are a spicy chicken establishment and their spicy chicken comes in different shapes and sizes from bone-in fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, and nuggets. I have only ever ordered their fried chicken sandwich and every time, I have been a fan. I always get their middle option in heat, the Hot Gai, which is sandwiched between the OG and the Tingly Gai. It hits every time. The mayonnaise, the pickles, the perfectly crisp chicken: you can't miss it. As a side, I ALWAYS without fail get their Tater Tots. They are consistently crispy while remaining soft on the inside. Sometimes I will get it seasoned with their Tingly Sichuan, but the heat is sometimes too much. I cannot recommend the tots enough. Spicy Boys is one of those places that is always there for you. They are consistently open and the people making the orders are putting a ton of dedication into making them smack every time. The sandwich alone comes at $9.50 with the tots at $3.50, which seems on par or slightly lower than a typical food truck if my memory serves me right. I recommend giving them a shot whether you are at Spokesman in Pflugerville, St. Elmo Brewing, or Zilker off 6th Street. It's in the upper echelon of food trucks. RIYL: peak chicken sammys

Overall, it was good. The crab rangoon was the standout--crispy, flavorful, and easily my favorite part of the meal. The chicken and broccoli were cooked well, and the portion size was solid for lunch. I did ask for spicy, but the dish was milder than expected. The flavor was there; it just didn't quite bring the heat I was hoping for. This was a delivery order, so I didn't have the opportunity to check out the ambiance, and it appears to be takeout and delivery only anyway. The food arrived without issue. I'd still be open to ordering again and trying some of the other dishes on the menu next time. Sometimes it takes a couple of visits to find the dish that really hits.
