It was our first time to try Pollo Campero. Long story short, the fried chicken was to salty. Our food was to go through drive through, there was no utensils, no napkins neither paper plates. Came here a couple of times and the service was good. There's always a wait. I don't know why they take forever but went today and it took 40 minutes to get a 6 piece nuggets and two piece meal. Tried the drive thru today as the parking lot had no empty spots and traffic was on the street for people wanting to park. Ordering was easy and smooth. I ordered 3 nuggets combos, 1 order of nuggets by themselves, and 2 two piece combos. That was $70 something but with no drinks the nugget combo is .09 cheaper than a combo at Canes minus a drink. Of side note, I had to find a spot in the very packed lot to wait 15 minutes for the nuggets to be ready and walked out to me. My recommendation would be to reserve a spot for drive thru if that's a norm. The bag I was handed was a packed masterpiece which was impressive. After we got home, we noticed there could be cost savings on some of the packages that were very large in comparison to the food inside. As for the food, the dinner roll was a very basic bland roll, the tortillas are corn not flour which was disappointing for those of us who asked for tortillas, the Campanero sauce is actually really good and the coleslaw is similar to KFC's. My kiddo did not like the Mac n cheese but we thought it was fairly decent, and everyone enjoyed the fries. The fried chicken is flavored nicely, but not remarkable unless you dip it in the sauce which as mentioned is very good. Pollo Campero seems to have elements of El Pollo Loco, KFC, and Canes/Chik Fil A. It lacks its own distinct identity though. It is on a tough competitive corner as it is located very close to El Pollo Loco, and Canes, with KFC down the street further. The service (minus the extended wait) was excellent, the building finally cleaned up a corner that really needed it, it looks clean, and the outdoor patio looked great. read more

The food is fabulous. Three of us went and we all ordered something different so they we could get a real sense of the menu. One friend got the chicken salad and asked for grilled chicken instead of the fried. My husband got the chicken sandwich with fries and I got the two piece meal. The beans are phenomenal and the Mac and cheese is awesome. They gave us a sample of all their different sauces to try. The customer service was also great. Only down size is that there is only one handicapped parking space. We really recommend this new bright spot in Riverside! read more

When I say I am surprised that this location doesn't have ONE STAR I mean it! I am a LA native and looooovveeeed Pollo Campero so when I saw there was one placed in Riverside I was so excited. Upon my arrival two employees were playing outside by the trash cans, I waited at the order window to order and realized the young ladies playing outside was who should've been taking my order because after a few minutes they returned to the window and took my order. I got the 3 piece meal with beans and fries.....the beans were delicious but that's where the compliment ends! The chicken was salty and greasy, the fries were old and half full, I was not given a spoon for my beans. When I tried to get the young ladies attention she walked away, there was a female manager on her cellphone near the window but never looked my way. I honked my horn and waved my arms to try and get someone's attention because I saw at least 4 people but no one came to the window so I just drove off. I hadn't had Pollo Campero in years, and with just one bite, a flood of memories from my time in Guatemala came rushing back. I wasn't sure what to expect having Campero here in the States, but it did not disappoint. The chicken was moist, flavorful, and just as good as I remembered. I was anxious to try the chicken so I bought a three-piece with coleslaw and yucca fries. The yucca fries were very good. I did not care for the chicken at all. I thought it was too salty and I didn't like the flavors . it was not pleasing to me at all. It tasted like it had too much of a pungent spice. Online menu is deceiving. Rolled up to their drive thru expecting the 2 piece meal to come with a drink but it doesn't. Literally 10 cents more WITH A DRINK if you order online. The mac N cheese was decent, daughter worked at Pollo Loco and said it appeared to be the same one. Yuca fries were interesting. The flavor was okay but I don't care for the fibers. It reminded me of eating sugar cane. It's a personal preference. The plantains, I cannot rate since they didn't make it in to my bag even though they were paid for. That was disappointing. The empanadas were okay. The flavor is different. Not what I expected. All in all it was okay. Save your money and just go to Jack in the Box. The quality of food reminded me a lot of a McDonald's or Jack in the Box, everything was dry and there was little to no flavor in the chicken. The best thing was the empanadas however one of them was smaller than my palm (not worth $3.50). It was also $35 for a 9 piece nuggets combo and a chicken sandwich combo. They didn't put the sauce I ordered in the bag, maybe that would have helped with the dry nuggets. Overall not impressed and wouldn't return. However, the service was good. I was really forward to trying this place. I understand new opening will have some issues but the food and experience feel short. First they only had one register working and the cashier was learning, so there was a delay. Upon reaching the cashier, I was immediately told that they were running out of chicken and the wait might be long for new batch. I asked for him to check and at this point I was going to wait anyways. Good news that chicken was available. So I thought and expected "hot" fresh chicken. Well, when I finally got my order, chicken was luke warm at best...WTF!!! The only thing that was hot was the fried plantains. Real disappointment and I will likely not be back in the near future. Sucks to wait for a long time and only to have the food be cold/luke warm. Gave a generous 2 stars as the actual flavor of the food was good but it could have been a lot better. Was looking forward to experience this new restaurant. Unfortunately had bad experience. We order 2 Chicken sandwich and both were served cold. I did let them know and they re-made the order but took more then half an hour to receive it. I had to ask for it to go due to the long wait. It seemed like the staff were inattentive and did not appear to care about our experience . There was not a lot customers so the atmosphere was quiet . I placed an online order and it wasn't ready by the time I got there. I got there 30minutes after I placed the order. Wasn't ready when I arrived, which is fine I don't mind waiting an extra 3 mins or so since they were busy. However, they kept calling orders one of the girls finally asked what order was mine, there was another online order placed before mine,seemed he was waiting a little longer, they had not been working on any online orders, the manager that was "working" did not see her help out her staff, she was continuously staring at the screen, walking back and forth confused and not doing much to help at all. This is my second time trying this new location I usually like the service at Jurupa Valley but this location is 5 minutes from my home. Food is fresh. Reviews on google are fake. Employees are asked to bribe customers for a review they literally grab the customers phone and put the review in for them. Once I arrived home I must say that your chicken is greasy and even the packaging that the plantain came in was soaked in grease. All theses negative reviews have no idea what they are talking about. I went inside to dine in and the lady at the register was very friendly. I got the 4 piece meal deal/combo and it was sooo good! It reminded me of when i would go to Salvador and enjoy pollo campero over there! Omg the chicken is AMAZING! it's perfectly seasoned inside and outside. Each bite of meat is super juicy and flavorful! When we ate inside we were surprised that the workers came to drop off our food to every single customer dining in. The food is served on plates rather than traditional fast food to~go boxes which i loved better for the planet as well as how it's done in Salvador! This was our 1st time trying Pollo Campero. We ordered the 12 pc family that includes rice, Mac n Cheese & coleslaw. The Mac n cheese was soggy (noodles was over cooked), the coleslaw did not have any flavor, the rice was bland & the friend chicken was just ok. I would say that Stater Brother's chicken tastes a lot better than Pollo Campero. I don't think I'll come back because the food was not worth price we paid. read more
