All around a great experience. The food was delicious--crispy without being oily. The wings tasted great and weren't overly salty, even with the double flavors. The yams had the perfect amount of sweetness, and the mac and cheese was nice and cheesy. The catfish tasted very clean with no fishy taste or smell at all. Everything tasted fresh. The banana pudding was also really good. I don't think there were actual banana pieces in it, but it still had great flavor. On top of that, the service was excellent. The woman taking my order was very kind and welcoming, and she was more than happy to answer the questions I had about the menu. The ribs, fish, grilled shrimp, and hot link were good. I liked the seasoned rice, but my Blaisian nieces didn't. They prefer regular steamed rice. The greens are sweet. My brother liked them and my friend didn't. The chicken sandwich was a bit too crispy for my 21 year old nephew. It was his birthday. Things are good, but we won't order the Wings next time. Had to make a late night stop after getting of the plane in Ontario. Well worth the trip and I really recommend the lemon pepper flavor and or medium. I ordered the 10pc wings which allows for two sides. While I was not a huge fan of the potato salad I did enjoy the Mac n cheese. I ordered a side of cornbread which melted in my mouf. Overall I would recommend this spot for a late night and the place can probably seat close to 4-5 parties of four. You know, it's been awhile since I've been here. I was just telling someone on a thread how I never had to wait long for food and that must've been the kiss of death because I had my first 30-40 min wait. I was coming out of the AMC at the Galleria, placed my order before leaving the theatre. Took about 15 minutes to get there, 5 minutes before being helped and being told my food would be another 15 minutes. So about 35 minutes total. Fine. I ordered a sampling of the stuff that matters to me at soul food spots-a piece of red snapper, catfish and mac n cheese. Plus their catfish nuggets. I remember I used to crave this stuff and would often pick up a late night plate for maybe a week in a row. I also remember something tasting pretty fishy here. Well, the snapper had a fishy taste and smell to it. Enough for me to spit it out. The Mac was pretty good, just didn't taste too warm. Nearly like it was warmed in a microwave for a bit. The catfish nuggets I could've done without and the piece of catfish I had was whatever. As for the environment, it's cool but not too big a space for dine in. Maybe one or two medium size groups, 10-12 people total. But this place is a known soul food spot with a pretty dedicated customer base. I get the feeling here that whether food or service, it is what it is, nothing is gonna change. So I was told from a co-worker to try this place. Let me just say I was not happy about my chicken there was no seasoning meaning no flavor, how do you make chicken without seasoning.
