I had this place to go, so I didn't see the place from the inside but the food was bland and just lacked flavor. Seemed very commercial and not bad but not good I guess if you like bland this maybe the place for you the service was good and everything looked clean read more

Gave this place 1 more chance and it was worse then last time. If I could leave zero stars, I would. They placed the order to go when we asked to dine in. Per the manager, they weren't able to put the food on a plate, so we took out the food from the boxes and place them ourselves. We were never asked if we wanted tortillas or bread, they just gave us bread. There were no Fresca's at the drinking area. Also, because it was to go, they only get one thigh and two legs, but when you dine in they give two thighs and one leg. read more

I have driven by this place many many times and finally decided to stop in. I was pleasantly surprised how delicious everything was. We ordered an eight piece meal half baked and half fried and both had distinctly different taste and were equally delicious.. for the sides we got beans and rice and I have to say they were both better than the sides from Juan Pollo and El Pollo Loco. To top off the surprisingly delicious food the girl who helped us at the counter who was named Tiffany was very sweet and kind to us. We appreciated her positive attitude and kind nature. read more

This is my second time ordering here. I ordered for pickup and tried to pick up in the drive thru. Heads up if you can't get out of the car, they said their new policy is to pick up at the counter only. Even when your order is ready and there are no other cars in the drive thru. I ordered 12 piece roasted chicken only. They gave me half fried. The roasted chicken was good. The fried was overcooked and dried out. Sucks because this would've been a better review if they got my order right. (This also happened first time I ordered) I got the 6 piece nuggets to see what you get for $9. I was not impressed. The ranch tastes like hidden valley. I'm not totally sure if I'll keep ordering here. read more

I'm glad they expanded locations but I don't recall it being this pricey: $10.90 9 nuggets $8.30 chicken sandwich $33.70 8 pc family meal w 2 sides $48.40 12 pc family meal w 3 sides $69.90 20 pc family meal w 4 sides $20.70 8 pc chicken only $27.60 12 pc chicken only $41.00 20 pc chicken only They said it would be a 12 min wait but it ended up being 30. On the plus side, the chicken was piping hot and crispy! The seasoning & perfectly fried chicken was worth the wait. Crunchy yuca fries & fluffy seasoned Campero rice were the sides I picked. The beans are really good here too. $13 Pollo Campero Christmas plush. I was on the fence because I do love their chain! No issues with staff or cleanliness of the restaurant. There were a handful of fruit flies which were annoying. I didn't see any trash receptacles which was odd but probably related to if you choose to eat in, everything comes on actual plates + they don't want to risk those getting tossed. read more

New location, others going up in the Perris and Lake Elsinore areas, so it was nice to pop in yesterday. Just before it got really busy. Loud inside, but that's okay. Same comfy booths as the Jurupa Valley location and possibly, better cooks, too. Much better, except for the fries as detailed below. My three piece meal included perfectly fried breast and drumstick, and the grilled thigh was also exemplary. Fries were a letdown, however. A bit lukewarm despite how busy it was. The macncheese was decent, neither the greatest nor the worst. Service was great though. Friendly cashier, nice smile, sweet lady that brought my order out. For that it's a solid 4 stars. read more

Overall: 3.5 stars from me. Hubby and kids like the chicken a little more, so maybe a 4 stars from them. Taste: The fried chicken had this slightly strong herb flavor to it. Different, I'm not used to but also sort of a nice change compared to all the other fried chicken elsewhere. Plantains were good. Rice was ok. Price: Pricey. Fortunately, we had a coupon from their site, 20 pcs. $35, add two sides for $10 more (I mean still kinda pricey for me but I also tried adding, yep still increasing my total here but first time so might as well try more, at the register was a sign that said 5 empanadas $12, didn't work for me since you can only add to an existing meal.) Don't forget to ask for utensils, napkins, hot sauce....they don't have salsas. I wanted to go back another day to try the grilled chicken but I would need salsa so not too sure on trying the grilled. Also, sign up, get $10 in their app and earn points. Parking: no parking. I had to wait a while for a spot. Service: Food came out pretty fast on a Friday evening. read more

I recently visited this location in Riverside. It just opened last week . Pollo Campero originated in Guatemala in 1971 . It has become a cultural icon in Central America. I ordered the 3 piece chicken with platanos and yuca fries in the drive through . The chicken was flavorful, the yucca fries were pretty good and the Platanos (fried plantains ) were on point. They actually got platanos right they were delicious and tender . Be ready to spend some time in the drive through lane . It gets pretty packed . Let me know how you like it . read more

Arrived shortly after it opened to get a quick lunch in before the traffic started. That 91 is a beast. Drive thru available. Nice spacious outdoor patio area with umbrellas. Inside was clean and organized. For napkins, straws and lids, You will have to ask for these items at the register. They're not by the soda station and no napkin dispensers at the tables. They did have the Cholula and hot sauce bottles readily available. Bathrooms need a code for entry. Not sure if there were any dipping sauces because the staff didn't understand what I was asking. Also some of our orders were missing items. Always room for improvement. Was told the staff taking our order didn't understand English too well. Not sure how many orders were accurate or if there were other confused customers. I hope there's some positive changes to help this location thrive. read more

I don't understand the hype around this place. The food was bland, the chicken was dry, and my sides were barely warm. The service was slow, and the employees acted like helping customers was an inconvenience. The restaurant also wasn't very clean, which made the whole experience even worse. For the price, I expected much better. I won't be coming back, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it over the other chicken places nearby. read more

Gustamalan fast food chicken place. Its like KFC but better. We ordered a family style of fried chicken. With sides of Mac and cheese and fries. Food came out quickly. The chicken was cooked to perfection. Extremely crunchy. Very soft and tender meat. The chicken breast was even moist!! Which says alot!! The sides were really good. The mac and cheese was creamy and delicious. Really complimented the chicken. Fries were crispy and pillow like inside. Wouldn't think this place would have good fries but they do! The inside is really small. But the tables do turn over really fast. As it is a fast food place. The parking here is horrendously small. I can imagine during rush hour there would easily be no place to park. The booths do move back and forth, which would be a problem if your sharing a booth with a rowdy or obnoxious person. The reason I have to minus a star is we sat by the windows in the corner and there must've been at least 5 or 6 large flies buzzing around. It was down right disgusting. Aa they flew around our food and our drinks. I would've taken another star off but the chicken was really good!! I heard people saying the grilled chicken isnt that good. So I'll stick to the fried chicken. Cuz i ain't trying to be healthy when I come out to eat here. Anyways their fried chicken is just amazing!!!! read more

Ok lets try the beans... first scoop and amazed im eating beans with very unique yummy flavors! But its just beans... but most delicious, and the rice will not disapoint... soft and chewy, reminded me of saku ramen fried rice texture... if was delicious! And the service? Top notch and attentive. . Not to mention friendly they be smiling! Like they mean it.... But i mean... what else would you expect from Guatemala? Will be back again ^_^ read more

Ambiance: the inside looks nice. It is brand new so that is expected. Good amount of seating. Felt they could've utilized the space better but that's just being picky. Service: I seen others getting great service. Ours was just ok. Seen staff go to tables multiple times as if it was a sit down service place which I don't believe it is but our food was dropped off and that was the end of it. That's how I thought it was intended so not going to kill them for it. Food: chicken is ok. Needed more seasoning in my opinion but the fry on it was good. The sides were the star of the plate. I felt the rice had great flavor, the Mac n cheese had a Pollo Loco comparison which isn't a terrible thing and the beans were solid as well. I am tempted to come back and try the grilled version of this. If the flavors are there I may add an extra star but as it is, 3 out of 5 it stays. read more

Chicken was a 4 star. Dirty restaurant is a 1. Restaurants capacity is 82 people. Address is Magnolia but driveway is on La Sierra - navigation says a u-turn is needed but it's not. When you eat inside they serve on plastic plates and real silverware. They have their own hot sauce on the tables - it's day glow green - it tastes good. Tortillas are corn only and mine was hot and have dried out hard. Bread is cold generic Hawaiian style role. Their Compero sauce is sweet. Kinda like Miracle Whip based maybe? Beans were served hot but they're under seasoned. Slaw is served cold and they're on the tart side. Their mango drink is good - not too sweet. I liked the chicken - both the grilled and fried is on the salty side. The grilled chicken is lemony. Their pickles are sweet. They are chintzy about the napkins. I was served 4 for 4 pieces of chicken, 1 side of beans, 1 side of slaw, 1 empanada, tortillas and bread. Empanada is good. When I asked for more they weren't really nice about it. The place is dirty. Food on the floor. No tables being cleared. Flies. read more

We ordered via the drive thru. This is first time trying this restaurant. We were greatly disappointed with the lack of mixed chicken and incorrect order given to us when we got home. Pollo Campero - Chicken - Chicken Shop Near Me - Riverside, California

it was my first time here and i was actually surprised food was good since it's fairly new. i got the two piece meal and picked a thigh and a breast. i wanted "spicy" but they had told me they didn't have that (i wanted to try their cayenne and habanero sauce from the "spicy chicken sandwich") but i just had cholula and their signature green sauce to pick from. i just ate it plain. the chicken was really moist and well seasoned. it was too soft in some places (fat?) and greasy but just ask for extra napkins haha. the taste is worth it. their mac and cheese was a bit too soft for me but my sister enjoyed it. taste was fine just soft texture. i went for the dinner roll instead of tortillas and it was just a regular little yeast dinner roll. the cookies were probably my favorite...i loved them. i was coming in for flan but they ran out and i was glad. i took them home and warmed them up to eat with milk. they had the perfect texture and taste !! they tasted like semi-sweet chocolate chips (which are elite in baking) and were pretty thick, big (palm size), and full of chips ! the service was good also. the cashier seemed a bit shy but it was my first time and they had no problem prompting me/giving me choices. it also helps that they have pictures of the side options right at the cash register. we grabbed a seat and the meal was brought to our table. if you get "dine in" they have real, washable dinnerware ! that was surprising since it's "fast food" (i mean they have a drive thru) but it's so neat. less single use plastic and stuff. ambiance was mellow and nice. i came at night and it wasn't loud or busy. they even have tvs and lots of seating options to pick from. it is also really clean, employees were doing their jobs. when i came in there were some dishes but when i sat it was all cleaned up. it also seems very family friendly. they have some booths and lots of high chairs. would love to come back to try the flan and their citrus grilled chicken. i would say they do need more trash cans. i only saw one in the whole dining room (small circle hole one by the drinks). it's probably because of the reusable dishes but it wouldn't hurt for napkins and stuff. i tried the mango drink and i'm not sure if it was because it was late and almost empty but it tasted a bit watered down for my liking but it also says it has peach and nectarines besides the mango..i was expecting full mango flavor. 4.5/5.0 stars read more

The food is good but unfortunately the customer service lacks. I've gone multiple times both during the day and at night. The workers don't want to work. I understand they're low staffed but the excuses are getting out of hand. Once we almost waited an hour, we checked in twice and they decided to tell us the second time the machine was down. We've order to-go on multiple occasions. Food starts to not become available. We were just told the wait time would be 20 min, we decided to wait because the chicken is delicious! I've gone to this Campero on La Sierra several times. Half the time they don't have the chicken you want. Other times, you're told you have to wait 15, sometimes 30 mins for chicken. This happens a lot. It's literally a drive-thru: you ask if they have certain chicken on their menu; you're told it'll take 30 mins. to prepare; no one in their right mind is going to wait that long; so you drive-thru: to the El Pollo Loco across the street. It's really a problem for working people wanting a quick lunch. This is a management problem. Management either is not carefully monitoring how frequently chicken it advertises on its drive-thru menu is unavailable and why, and/or it's content to shift the burden to potential customers. It's really a pain because you try to order at the drive-thru menu, you are told they don't have what you want on the menu, and then when you want to simply leave, you usually have to wait until the cars in front of you leave. So it's like a bait-and-switch: one thing's on the drive-thru menu, you're told they don't have it, so now to avoid going elsewhere and wasting more time, you have to settle for something on the menu that you don't really want. No downside to Campero: it has sold something to you, so it's happy. I've gone to the nearby El Pollo Loco for years; they've never told me they don't have something advertised on their drive-thru menu. Why not be transparent? If Campero is trying to save money by not buying certain food items on its menu because they are too expensive for Campero to buy and put on the drive-thru menu, why not delete them from the menu? If Campero is understaffed and can't fix food fast enough, why not post on your drive-thru menu that there will be a 15 to 30 min. wait for some items? The answer's obvious: people will read that and, if they experience delay, they likely will not come back. In the meantime, the burden of inconvenience is on the customer. This Campero needs to learn that, normally, customers do not express their disappointment in a lengthy Yelp review, but with their feet: they don't come back and leave management to figure out why. If Campero feels this review raises issues that need correction, it is more important to implement the corrective remedy(ies) than it is for management to reply to this text with an expression of concern as if management does not already know about these problems. If Campero chooses to reply, it would be better to do so, not with boilerplate expressions of concern for public consumption, but with an acknowledgement of its problems and an itemization here of the several corrective steps it will immediately implement to stop the continuation of the problems. P.S.: I don't know why this post shows I live in Canada; I live in Southern California. P.S.S.: I've looked through some of the earlier Yelp reviews of your business. Julie L. (11-16-25) wrote, "They said it would be a 12 min wait but it ended up being 30." Lopez S (11-4-25): "Wanted to try roasted chicken and they were out of it." Danny S. (12-31-25): "Ordered at the drive through, was told they were waiting on fries and to park and they would bring my order to me. I sat in the parking lot for 25 minutes. Decided to go through the drive through to check and sure enough my order had been sitting the entire time." And these are just on the first page of the eight pages of reviews of your business. And I am not even talking about the "7 reviews for Pollo Campero that are not currently recommended." The very first of these was from Abigayle T. (12-1-25). Part of what she wrote was: "To top that of, after she took our orders, she informed us that most of the sides that we wanted is unavailable and they dont have roasted chicken anymore. So pretty much, we take whatever is available, which we dont get, we went there around 3pm, so I don't know why they can't make another batch since they made us wait 20mins for our orders anyway. Then, after 20mins, the guy came out with our orders, and he said "here you go" and left." All of the above reviews are within a month or two of today (1-8-26). read more

Wow!! What a disappointment!! I was so excited for this place when I started seeing it, built and close to home. This food has too much spices. It is not appetizing. The food falls so short ordered the nuggets and for reference I put a water bottle cap next to the nugget so you guys can see how small these are. I was genuinely impressed by Pollo Campero. The flavor of the chicken easily beats out KFC, Popeyes, and El Pollo Loco. The seasoning was bold, rich, and reminded me of authentic Caribbean cooking--absolutely delicious. To those saying it's "too spicy," it sounds like you're used to cooking with nothing but salt and pepper. This chicken is full of flavor, not heat, and that's what makes it stand out. My only complaint is the pricing--it feels a bit steep for what you get. Also, the sides come in oversized containers that are only half-filled. It's wasteful and gives a misleading impression of the portion size. Switching to more appropriate containers could cut costs and potentially lower prices for customers. Overall, the food is excellent, and I'll definitely be back--but I hope they consider tweaking the pricing and packaging read more

The drive thru worker didn't ask how I wanted my chicken fried or grilled/broiled so she picked fried for me. I hadn't realized I didn't specify, but she should have asked.
