Great food for a reasonable price! It reminds me of the Captain D's / Long John Silvers vibe. You order, they give you a number for your table, they bring the food to you. The chicken was tender on the inside, and fried to a crunchy crisp on the outside. It was very lovely. The sides were also great! There were many to pick from. I got the fries and Mac& cheese. The fries got cold quick because of how thin they're cut, but the macaroni was amazing. A nice fluid cheese, not coagulated clumps, and seasoned well! The service was also amazing. First of all let me say I LOVE me some pollo campero! The chain is very well known due to its presence in Central America. I'm from NC and there's only two locations in Charlotte, NC so getting pollo campero is a treat! We stopped in for some takeout. The location was clean and not too busy when we arrived. The customer service was okay, not amazing but also not rude or overly ecstatic. We did have to wait about 15/20 mins for chicken but I didn't mind because it was absolutely delicious (knew it would be)! The food is always served fresh and made-to-order, and the way that they prepare their food makes their version so much tastier and more seasoned compared to other PC spots! The menu offers individual combo meals, family combo deals, various sides, and even desserts. The hubs usually orders the 3 Piece Meal, Campero Fried, and let me tell you - that chicken skin is spiced up, super crispy, and so yummy! Even though it's fried, it's not oily as they drain it properly; the meat is also very juicy! For sides, the Corn Salad is so addicting - roasted corn, peppers, feta cheese, and cilantro, topped with pumpkin seeds, all dressed with a smoky type of a dressing - this location's version is not 'wet' and heavy with liquid, which I've experienced at other locations. The mashed potatoes and gravy is okay, the potatoes and the gravy being more of a thick consistency. I'm a huge fan of their empanadas, as they're puff pastries, fried to a crispy golden-brown, filled with a creamy and cheesy combination of pulled chicken, chipotle sauce, diced green peppers, cilantro, and Monterey Jack cheese - I KNOW! The chicken and food in general was very good here! I didn't find the prices to reflect similar restaurants in the area though. The meals were around ~$8-9 with not the expected level of food. The menu itself is very small and the variety of sauces is lacking (ketchup, chalula, and house sauce). We had fried chicken with yuca fries. The fries are so good! The house sauce was also very tasty. Our chicken was good, however, the bones and insides were chewy and seemed too easy to mistakenly eat. The food itself also wasn't hot when it came out. Glad to see Pollo Campero open in Manassas! I've been to their locations in Wheaton and Herndon and enjoy their food. I stopped in for dinner and the place was packed! I ordered the two piece fried chicken meal (wing and breast), plus their delicious Campero beans, which also comes with a dinner roll and a soda (went with Diet Coke). They hand you a number attached to a stand - I got my soft drink and found a seat and waited. Food came out a couple of minutes later. Chicken was moist and delicious! We got rolls but after eating everything it made me wish we ordered tortillas. The chicken tortilla soup tasted so fresh and clean that it made me wish I had a huge bowl. The fried plantains were good but i wish they has more of a crisping from the natural sugars. Overall experience was decent although we were the only ASIAN family eating in the restaurant full of Latino people that definitely stared at us while we ate. Stop by today ordered the Spicy Chicken sandwich meal which was advertised for $8 which includes a side and a free drink. Ordered an additional empanada. When the cashier told me the total he told me $14.30 which didn't sound right. Brought to his attention that the meal is $8.25 not $8 and I'm being charged for a drink which says clearly on the screen free drink Monday-Thursday. Today was Thursday. The one cashier they had looked overwhelmed and felt bad for the guy with 10 people in line to order. He went to the manager to ask her about the special. She was busy flirting with some co-worker at 12:27 lunch rush at a dining table. Cashier came back to tell me that she says she is not sure why that advertisement is on the screen because it's not honored. Manager looked dis-interested and busy doing her thing. Told him it sounded like false advertisement and that's an issue. He agreed. Was short on time and needed a drink so I paid for the drink anyways. Be careful because I can't imagine how many others are being over charged. Manger calls me after I filed a complaint on the receipt survey. Made some BS excuse saying there was a miscommunication with the cashier. I don't buy it. Photo shows manager with some co worker, receipt and the false advertisement on the screen. Tells me I can come back for a refund for the drink but not worth driving 30 minutes to go back for $2.50 and I'll take my loss. Tells me she will refund me if I visit again. Not happening. Mehhh.. I was kind of confused because I thought Pollo Campero was Peruvian chicken. It's not bad by any means, but the roasted chicken is not what I am used to at Guapo's or Pollos Inka, rather It is citrusy and herby. At least the inside is still juicy. The cole slaw was mehh. (Sorry for the repetition of adjectives, but that really is the most appropriate word to capture my apathy toward the food.) I tried the quatros leches for dessert and it was a little too sweet for me. I could only eat about 3 bites. I was mostly disappointed by the guava drink though. There was some snafu with the delivery pickup/drop off where someone brought my food and they called to tell me I never came to get it. I thought this was a Peruvian chicken place like La Granja in Florida, it was the farthest thing from it. Pollo Tropical is another standard that I would compare Campero to. Peruvian chicken is absolutely the best Latin chicken you can get. I even went on the Campero website to see if they disclose which Latin country their chicken is based on. I am sad to say that this is not real Latin chicken. My daughter loves Latin flavored chicken and i should have known better when she elected to order chicken strips instead of the roasted chicken. New fast food chain in Manassas. It's a Latin Fried Chicken. It is located where the Wok n Roll Chinese buffet used to be. The restaurant opened on Tuesday 3/22 and I visited the restaurant on 3/26. My experience: My parents live in Manassas and I'm often driving there to visit them. When I am driving towards I-66 highway, I had noticed this restaurant was being built and I had heard it finally opened. My father, my fiance, and myself decided to try this new 'fried chicken' place to see what the hype was about. My dad had mentioned to me he saw huge lines whenever he drove past the restaurant. We went here at about 7:30pm or 8:00pm on a Saturday night. The placed was crowded. The line was going outside the door and into a heated auxilary tent that the restaurant set up to handle the overflow of customers. There was a nice lady who worked there and told people as they arrived to the tent that the wait about about 25 minutes (for fast food!). We didn't care. We wanted to try it. The lady gave us a brochure/menu and told us that we would enjoy the food. This African American lady in front of us said it was her second time here and that the food was amazing. We were the only Asians in line and in the restaurant, but we didn't care (besides the African American family and us Asians, EVERY customer was from some sort of Spanish-speaking nationality). We ordered the 12 piece chicken meal (no sides) for $16.99. We ordered half fried and half grilled. It seems everyone in the restaurant was getting the FRIED chicken and no one ordered the grilled. We wanted to try both so we did half and half (which apparently isn't common because the cashier had to ask her boss how to put it into the register). We also ordered 2 of the 3 specialty Latin drinks. They were both sweet and tangy. Fruity tasting. After we ordered our chicken, we went to the condiment bar and got 2 or 3 of each of the different sauces. The red sauce was my favorite. It's almost like a slightly spicy salsa without the chunks of tomatoes/onions/etc. in it. We got the chicken to go and brought it all home. We were thinking "what makes this better than the typical KFC/Popeyes?". We wanted to know what the hype was about. The chicken did smell really great in the car though. We opened up the boxes and the chickens were so warm and fresh. The skin is not like any other American fried chicken. It's extremely thin and crispy, but not really greasy. Very hard to explain. The meat is flavorful and tender. Dipping the pieces of white meat into the different sauces made it even better. The grilled chicken was good too, but definitely not as good as the fried chicken (now we know why everyone only got the fried chicken). The grilled chicken had lots of seasoning on it and the skin tasted flavorful, but the grilled chicken meat wasn't as juicy as the fried chicken meat (although I bet it is healthier lol). Anyways, the fried chicken here definitely lives up to the hype. I hope it wasn't "this good" because they just opened. I've noticed that when restaurants open that their food is top notch, but after a few months/years the quality really decreases. Hopefully this restaurant will last (it should since it is a major chain). I'll definitely be back one day to try some more fried chicken (in moderation only. I'm technically still on a diet, but hey I gotta treat myself sometimes!) read more

In this moment, I'm listening to some creepy country duet, and the song prior was a traditional Hispanic song. However, the food is wonderful. The seasoning on the chicken is superb. Couple that zesty spice with the smooth crispy skin, and you've got what is Pollo Compero: delicious chicken. I ordered the two piece combo with tortillas and campero beans. My girlfriend got the same thing, except she ordered campero rice rather than the beans. The tortillas are corn, and they are served streaming hot. I combined the beans and rice with the green and red salsas--oh my god!! So good. Is this place a five star restaurant? No. But, it is the cream is the crop as far as fast food chicken goes. My last three experiences have been horror shows. 3 visits ago, I went in, ordered my family meal, heard my number called, received my food, and went home. When I got home, I was dismayed to find that I didn't receive my family meal, just a couple boxes of breasts. No mixed chicken, no sides, just breasts. We improvised a meal at home with it, but I wasn't happy. The next visit, some time later, I walked in with my wife, and we walked up to the counter. The girl behind the counter was on the phone. No acknowledgement, no hello, no nothing. After what felt like 15 minutes (it was probably more like five), my wife and I look at each other, and decide to take our business elsewhere. Last night, and much, much, much later than the previous two visits, we try Pollo Campero for Takeaway Friday. My wife went, ordered two meals, and waited. And waited. And waited. While others who ordered long after my wife received their food, my wife was still waiting. 30 minutes. For fast food? Anyways. She gets home, and we sit down for dinner. Full disclosure; I have two dogs, and we always give them some of our animal protein with their kibble. What are covenants for, amiright? All of us ate our dinner, adults, kids,dogs. It all seemed fine, except my youngest, who has a more sensitive pallets than the rest of us, commented that the grilled chicken seemed "off". Boy, was it. ALL of us got sick. Even the dogs. That food raced through us before the morning arrived. We really should've gone to El Rulas tacos. For $53, the family could've eaten like kings, for a shop that appreciates our business. I tried to order grilled chicken and was informed the grilled chicken would not be ready for 30 minutes or so. I changed my order to spicy chicken tacos. It took at least 20 minutes for them to put the order together, despite the restaurant not being busy. The tacos themselves were flour tortillas that tasted like they were from the grocery store, very salty shredded chicken meat, and fried tortilla strips. Pretty disgusting. If I closed my eyes while drinking my guava drink I would have thought I was in Hawaii, considering how HOT it was in there and all, minus the humidity. The chips were thick like pita chips and the green salsa was my fave. The pico lacked flavor, didn't have enough cilantro or pepper flakes. The dark red salsa was only heat and no flavor. It had been a couple years since I had eaten here so I decided to place an order on Eat24. My order went through at 745pm for delivery. I checked the status of the order at 8:15pm and noticed it said for pick up instead of delivery; but I was charged a delivery fee. I called the restaurant to check the ETA and was told that they do not deliver past 8pm. I explained that my order was placed at 745, but they refused to deliver my food. As I was putting in a request to cancel my order, I receive a call from Eat24 saying they spoke with the GM and they agreed to deliver my food since I ordered before 8pm. So why couldn't they just do that when I explained the situation? If you don't deliver past 8pm, then why are you still listed to deliver on Eat24? I finally got my food an hour after I ordered. I ordered a simple order of two pieces of fried chicken There were only two other customers besides me in the lobby and there were five employees at the front counter. There was enough chicken which I could see. But yet it took them 15 minutes to give me my order. I would totally understand if the place was under staffed or this was at a high clientele hours time. But there was not high traffic, there was a good number of employees and the product was available. This made me puzzled and wanted to know why?
