The staff at this restaurant are trained to waste people's time who come in to pick up mobile orders. EVERY time I come here to pickup a mobile order around the estimated pickup time (which is a good 10 minutes after the order has been placed) the staff hasn't even THOUGHT about starting to prepare the order. They only focus on preparing orders placed in-store, so as I'm standing there waiting a whole 15 minutes past the time my order was supposed to be ready, customers are literally walking in, ordering at the register, and walking out with their orders. The sheer lack of consideration for wasting people's time is blatantly dysfunctional, unorganized, and negligent. The whole point of placing a mobile order is for that order to be prepared and ready BEFORE the person arrives. The other way in which the staff is disrespectful, particularly towards delivery drivers who are getting paid to facilitate their business, is that they treat all drivers like thieves. After making drivers wait 15+ minutes past the pickup time, the staff has the audacity to then refuse to hand the driver the order until the driver has "confirmed" the order on the app. They do this because scumbag drivers in the past have stolen orders without confirming. The actual solution to the ROOT of this problem is to report those thief drivers to whichever company the order was placed on (UberEats, DoorDash, etc) and get that driver deactivated. Treating every single driver like a thief, especially AFTER deliberately making the driver lose money by waiting a long time for a fast food order, is disrespectful beyond belief. It's almost as if they don't realize that drivers are also potential customers, and fellow citizens who are just trying to make a living. Any business that's managed this way doesn't deserve ANYONE'S money. read more

There is something about this place that remind me about breaks of bad. It's a great place to order friend chicken and side that's not unique to other restaurants, such as friend yuca and maduros. The chicken options are friend and grilled. Though I prefer the grilled chicken, it's usually a little on the salty side, but never the less tasty. When ordering, it seems that only Spanish speaking employees work there, which is not a problem and they try their best to assist customers. $11.73 for a 2 piece white meat meal, with a side of rice that wouldn't fill my 7yo daughter, is not worth it. Live close to the restaurant, but the chicken wasn't hot when I got home, neither was the rice. The dinner roll is a basic Hawaiian roll, wrapped up in a plastic baggie. The guy was rushing me to order, wanting me to add a drink, but why doesn't the meal come with a drink, for $12? The chicken was undercooked slightly, but is seasoned to perfection. Since I moved to LI I have driven past this place 100s of times and never tried it, but my recent first visit has me questioning that thinking. Pollo Campero is a long running fast-food chain of chicken restaurants dating back to 1971, so any Breaking Bad fans picking up on the similarity to Los Pollos Hermanos should know Pollo Campero was first. No illicit activities here - just extremely tasty chicken and sides! I am a sucker for a chicken sandwich and Pollo Campero serves up a great one! Plump white meat, extra crispy chicken (you can also do grilled) cutlets are the star of the show. Lettuce, tomato and Pollo Campero sauce which is a bit sweet for my tastes and reminds me of french dressing so I would get this on the side or pass. The slightly sweet, well made brioche bun ties it all together. Recently having a $6 special for this sandwich and a side has me wondering why I am going to these fast casual spots (looking at you Bareburger, The Rex, etc..) for a chicken sammie, spending more than twice as much when I can get similar (or better) quality one here! For sides the Maduros are well made, I enjoyed their coleslaw and fries as well. The corn salad is interesting, but a little too sweet and soggy for me. I love horchata, but not from here. They seem to make it with peanut, or peanut butter adding a thick flavor to the overly sweet drink. Avoid this. Their app is fantastic, order online and skip the suckers waiting on line. Walking in after I placed the order I laughed at the guy who rushed ahead of me and let the door close on my face as he was trying to beat me to the line. This is an update to my last review because I dined at P.C for lunch this afternoon and was very impressed with their new menu and customer service ! This Guatemalan style chicken family restaurant is dishing out flavorful Latin inspired family dinners. In my last review I shared that I was in love with the chicken but not the side dishes. Well! Now it's the total opposite amigos ! Because the new side dishes are deliciOSo !!!!! The menu now features corn salad ( with pepitas !), Yuca Fries (which are heavenly !!!!) and some classics such as rice, mashed potatoes etc. Each meal is served with a soft roll or tortilla. I decided on the 3 piece fried chicken meal and paired it with the corn salad and yuca fries. I washed it all down with their Horchata which taste like Cinnamon Toast Crunch meets the classic Latin signature recipe. My intestines are dancing bachata !!!!!!!!!! The Yuca fries were so thick and delicious, I may never eat regular French fries again. Sooooo good ! The service was impeccable. Smiling faces --- and quick service. I dined in and friendly " Paula" greeted me and brought my meal to my table asking me if I needed anything else while I dined. I can't wait to bring my daughter. Really great service today... greeted right away with a smile and the server asked if it was my first time and gave options for ordering with a good deal. Plus good coupons for bogo! When there was a small issue with my order it was corrected immediately with a smile! Food was surprisingly good. White meat was juicy and temperature was on point. The skin and seasoned breading was so CRISPY. Love it! I wish I could just order fried, crispy skin sometimes yummmm (fat person inside me speaking there). When I just had the meat, I tasted the flavors from the seasoned skin juices in every bite. The beans had a good amount of kick and the rice went perfect with it. Love this place. Food is great. Order delivery from here often. Their new chicken sandwich is better than Popeyes, and that's saying a lot! It's real chicken breast. Love their chicken, and love their sides, especially the yuca fries (so good!), side salad (they use actual hearty greens, not iceberg/romaine), coleslaw and maduros. Only complaint is that they have messed up my DoorDash order multiple times. It's frustrating because I'll be missing items or have extra of something I didn't get. Also sauce requests aren't followed which personally gets me because I love their green sauce and something get 3 standard, or even none sometimes even I put an extra request in. So I must admit, I am Hispanic but had never heard of Pollo Campero. And although the gimmicky character of a chicken cowboy seemed silly, I decided to give them a try. And I am so glad I did! The food was D-licious! Capital D people! It's basically fast food- Spanish style. I got the chicken strips with honey mustard sauce. The flavoring of the chicken is really good and different from KFC or Popeye's. The yellow rice with veggies was yummy and the platanos (sweet plantains) tasted homemade. All the combo meals come with a roll and although plain, that was tasty too. I think it was a potato roll. I was disappointed in the flan as it was borderline edible. But I was still happy they offer it. The dining area was clean and there are a lot of booths. I'll definitely be hitting up this chain more often now! read more

So.. Between KFC and Popeyes, I prefer Popeyes. I basically stay away from KFC. So now that I found this place I think I'll be visiting Popeyes less now. There chicken here at Camero is just superb. They serve 2 kind, Citrus grilled and fried chicken. I haven't had their fried chicken. I only had the citrus grilled.. and it's really amazing. I had their half chicken(4 piece special) with 2 sides (Yuca fries and beans). They were both really good. I'll be going back again and try their other sides and maybe the fried chicken. Oh yeah the empanadas look good too for next time. Will let Yelp know. This is a very tasty lunch spot for me. Their fried chicken is very good, but their citrus grilled chicken is even better. And their street corn salad is fantastic! I've also tried the Horchata, described as a sweet, cinnamon vanilla taste drink. It's very interesting. The cinnamon gives it a surprising warmth. All in all, a very good place to grab some lunch. I understand this is a Hispanic restaurant but they are literally placed in the center of a predominantly black neighborhood and have nerve to treat people poorly. i just left there a few minutes ago and I left with such a yucky disgusted feeling that doesn't make you feel good after giving your money to an establishment. To the point where i came to yelp to write this review. Not only was the cashier sitting there having an entire conversation while I'm standing there trying to give my order, when I simply asked a question about their past promotion on empanadas, she turns to her coworker starts talking in Spanish, they both look at me and bust out laughing (to the point where people stopped to look) then replies to me like I'm slow on hearing. That's not okay to treat people like that. We are all paying customers regardless of our race and should all be given the same respect. So I pass by this place all the time and have been itching to try it but never got around to it for whatever reason. Anywho, I place an online order and scheduled a pick up an hour from purchase. I ordered a 3 piece grilled chicken, with campero rice, that came with a dinner roll. Also i ordered an empanada to try and see how it would taste not all places make them well. So I walk in to pick up and the staff was very kind to me they asked my name and i was in and out within seconds. The place was pretty tidy and neat everything was looking positive. Anyway after i left i was eager to chow down I opened the box with the chicken and my enthusiasm turned into horror, my three piece was actually 2 and a half, the third piece was so tiny a rat wouldnt of been satisfied by it. I mean i litterally pondered if i was in a nitemare i mean you litterally almost had to use tweezers to grab the darn piece. I took one bite on the side and it was all gone what little struggle meat it had on it peeled off like a sticker. At least the other 2 pieces were decent, the chicken as a whole was tasty, as well as the rice, and the empanada wasnt bad either my gripe is the portion size. $12 for 2 and a half pieces of chicken one with struggle meat on it, a dinner roll the size of an ice cube, a half cup of rice, and an empanada. You know how depressing it is for a man to work all day to look forward to some food? Im talking mouth dripping wet with saliva and only to be served struggle meat. I felt like it was a trailer like in the movies they give you a taste and you gotta come back for the rest later. I stumbled in here by chance and boy was I in for a treat. When one thinks of Hispanic cuisine, fried chicken doesn't normally come to mind. At Pollo Campero however, they do it right! Succulent, crisp, juicy and flavorful fried chicken is what I had the pleasure of eating. That was accompanied by crisp, golden brown fries and a soft dinner roll, all for about $7.50. I also tasted one of their bowls, which was packed with grilled chicken breast and a wonderfully seasoned cilantro rice. I did not try their baked or grilled chicken so I can't comment. What I can say is that this fried chicken rivaled many of the national chains and had great service by really sweet staff. I'd love to go back. read more
