I've been getting my nails done for a very long time, especially getting Gel X full sets and fills. As I have recently moved to Milwaukee and don't yet have a nail salon, I thought I'd stop into Polished Nails on July 21st to get a Gel X full set, application and process that I am very familiar with. The nail tech that I had was very kind, sweet, and accommodating. I thought that because of the many positive reviews, I thought that I could trust the process of getting quality work done the day before I left for vacation. Here is where my problems begin. My nail tech seemed hesitant about the application of my Gel X tips. For example, she struggled with the amount of glue to use on the tips themselves, not using enough and sealing the tip to my nail bed with air gaps and poor application. When it came to doing the cat eye nail polish, she also seemed to struggle with the magnet, not producing a satisfying cat-eye effect. Later on that day, 7/21, the pinky nail on my left hand popped off--as I had a feeling it would because of the air bubbles and lack of glue and smooth application. I went to get it replaced and it was done by a different nail tech, someone that had more experience with Gel X and cat eye. I asked that nail tech, to take a look at the other nails and showed him the other gaps in between my nail and the Gel X tip, showing him that there was lotion under the nail from earlier. He filled only two of the gaps with glue. I asked him "What should I do if my nails pop off? Im going on vacation today." He responded with "I don't know if they will pop off, I wasn't your nail tech. If they do come off, come back in 7 days or less and we will fix it." I told him I'd be on vacation for longer and they suggested nothing else. I left unsatisfied. Yesterday, two of my nails popped off. They didn't ruin my nail bed because they were poorly applied. Imagine cheap nail extensions popping off at the end of the week. I ended up taking all of the nails off myself because the air gaps were worsening and were bound to come off anyway. Ironically, the only nail that stayed was the pinky that was replaced with proper technique. I'm so unsatisfied because they popped off LESS than a week later of them getting done. These were supposed to be my vacation nails and now I'm going another week of vacation WITHOUT nails that I paid over $120 for. I'm very frustrated. Pictures below. read more

I had the Milk and Honey pedicure. Talk about being pampered! And they used real honey and milk to massage my legs and feet. Also real oranges for my skin. The interior is bright and clean. All the techs are very friendly. We had wonderful conversations. My husband had the same service. He may have gotten in a little nap too. . Will be back whenever I'm in Milwaukee! read more

Deluxe pedicures last night. Tools for me came out of sterile bag and new buffer/files used. My daughter's may have been as well but they came over loose on a tray so I'm not sure. Good leg massage, callous removal. Gel polish on two smallest toes were off before I even got into bed, found them on the bathroom floor. The two little toes on the other foot came off easily with a light rub over the top of the nail. Big toes are 'secure' for lack of a better word but the rest came off very easily in one piece with no damage at all to my nail underneath. Very disappointing. Will not return. Daughter is at work so I haven't checked in with her yet, hoping hers are better! read more

My nails always look flawless, and I'm in and out without ever feeling rushed. Leo truly knows what he's doing, and it shows in his work. Mimi is also wonderful and incredibly detail-oriented--she does beautiful work as well. The vibe at Polished Nail Bar is just right too--clean, fresh, and new, but not overly bougie or pretentious. I was originally recommended this salon by one of my friends in the area when I moved to Milwaukee a few years ago. I liked it a lot at first as I only had issues with a single technician in the salon. However, they are pretty overprices for the quality they deliver compared to other salons in the area. The final time I went to this salon at this point about 6 months ago. After I requested ombre nails from a technician, it was clear that I spent $75 on a service that she did not know how to perform. I was really upset and disappointed and paid her because I had known her for 2 years and she had been doing my nails every 2-3 weeks for that time. However, I was frustrated with the exceedingly low quality of my manicure and never went back and switched to Bisou nails instead. It simply feels like they are not able to do many designs or anything more than a very simple manicure. The pedicures in general are nice though. read more

This is my favorite nail place in Milwaukee! Mea is THE BEST she is the only person to ever get my nails to last longer than a week. The last 3 times I've gone they recommended soft gel and they've lasted over 4 weeks! They made my natural nails strong, long, and healthy! They usually have some fun gift or raffle prize when you leave and the new renovations look so good! Also their choice in tv is chefs kiss. I tried literally everywhere else near Brady St before finding Polished and once Mea did my nails I have consistently come back. Reasonable prices, quick but detailed service, flexible hours, great location and it gives "we're a family" vibes. read more

I am 50/50 on this salon. Sheena did an amazing job on my pedicure & manicure. Probably one of the best dip manicures I have ever gotten - not thick at all & very even (closer to a gel style). Sheena even did cuticle care which I have never had done with a dip manicure & something that always bothers me - will 1000% book with her again. The staff here are also very kind and attentive. My two complaints are the salon itself and the pedicure service. I did not feel that the tools used were sanitary which is a turn off for me. Secondly, my pedicure felt rushed & the chairs were not the best. My boyfriend went with me to get his first pedicure done & his nail tech barely scrubbed his feet (and I know he needs it). End of the day, id go here again if I needed a quick mani pedi but not if I wanted a true nail salon experience. read more

I was looking at my nicely painted toes this morning and realized that Polished Nail Bar deserves an extra thank you from me! My mom and I went for pedicures almost three weeks ago, ahead of our trip to Florida. Now I'm really not one to get manis/pedis often because they never seem to last long enough to be worth it. However (!!!) now thinking back, I spent a week on the beach in sand, and plenty of time in chlorine pools, and this pedicure is still perfectly intact. Truly has never happened to me before. PLUS, it's regular polish, not the gel "no chip" that costs an additional $20. So thanks for making me feel like a pedicure was worth it, Polished! Though this nail bar is definitely on the pricier end in my opinion, it'll probably be my go-to for occasions going forward. I went to nail bar mke and had a horrible experience they did not give me what I wanted. I contacted polished with an image of what I actually wanted and they took me in within 24 hours. They literally laughed at the job that nail bar mke did. Brenda hooked me up with the cutest nails exactly like the photo that I asked for. I am absolutely blown away that this place has so few negative reviews. I paid for the spa pedicure. It was ...meh. Not worth the money. But I could not believe, as soon as I was done my nail tech Nancy just said "so do you wanna dry" um yes...I've never been somewhere where you don't dry your toes? (This is regular polish) After twenty minutes of sitting and air drying my toes, I finally asked someone hello is there a fan in here? The tech pointed to a TINY desk fan on the ground that was being used already by a customer. That's it. That's all they had in the entire store and it wasn't even offered to me. I am appalled. I booked 4 pedicures for the same time on a Sunday. Luckily, they were able to accommodate all 4 at the same time. Overall, the pedicure was enjoyable. $45 seemed pricier for their standard pedicure, but it can cost $40 if you pay in cash. The tech was friendly, and the massage was nice and you are offered a complimentary beverage. One of the massage chairs didn't work, and but the space seemed clean and well-maintained. Paid $75 for this dip manicure and this is under 2 weeks ago.... Insane price to begin with let alone for it to only last 1 day before it chipped for the first time. So frustrating. Also- if it says free soak off if you get the same service but that is not true for dip- that should be specified. Would have done it myself if i knew. Went with a friend for a pedi Saturday. She raves about how great they were although I was hesitant. I got the deluxe spa pedi which was $60. This is lore than double what I usually pay. Fine with me, It's a treat. The pedicure seemed a bit rushed and the only difference between here and my usual place is the hot towel and paraffin . The girl who did my pedi didn't even allow the paraffin to cool completely. I was fine with the service but less than impressed for the price. They're running a spring special right now - $30 for a gel manicure- but it's normally only $40 which seems super reasonable to me. Big, clean, well lit and open inside. I came in and got a full dip set with tips and 3 nails completely lifted off my nail bed in a matter of days and 2 additional nails began lifting around the perimeter after one week. I was told that no one would be able to complete my repairs and fill that day and that I would have to come back during the work week to get a full set with only a 20% discount ($8 discount). This is poor customer service. The lady working the desk did not show any regard how this lack of customer service left me feeling. The nail tech that did my nails the week prior took a look at my hands and told me that my nail beds were naturally too oily for dip powder and that she should have buffed my nails with the drip instead of doing it with the hand buffer block. She also stressed she didn't have enough time to fix all the issues so she couldn't do my nails today. I found all of this completely unprofessional and unfair. Isn't the professional responsible for making the best decision for the customer based on the fact they are supposed to be the skill professional. I assumed that since I just got my nails done and since I spent so much money that I would get great customer service; boy was I wrong. I had just came in the week prior with my family of three and we all got pedicures and manicures. Despite the fact that this location is not aesthetically as nice as it used to be and the actual services were a bit sub par (pedicure bowls & sinks looked worn & techs were a bit inexperienced, timid and my nail tech worked really slow on some of the most basic phase of my full set); we still went through with the appointment because we had no room in our schedules to cancel these appointment because we were going out of town. Needless to say we spent close to $300 plus we even generously tipped every nail tech that serviced us. Did all of that compromising initially only to come back to be even worst service.
