It's always welcoming, relaxing, and feels like a little reset every time I go. They do get busy (for good reason), but there are multiple talented technicians and great work all around. Definitely a spot worth checking out! Highly recommend

Instead, I ended up coming back every 2-3 weeks for nearly eight years -- and that alone says everything. Monica is truly exceptional. I get builder gel nails with gel polish, and her work is consistently beautiful, precise, and long-lasting. But what really sets her apart is who she is as a person and professional. She owns the business and somehow manages to do everything at once -- welcoming clients, answering phones, supporting other techs with their clients -- all while giving you her full, undivided attention. She is the most observant and attentive person I've ever met. You never feel rushed, forgotten, or like just another appointment. Over the years, seeing her that often, Monica became a very dear friend. We know each other's lives deeply -- the big things, the small things, the in-between seasons. Saying goodbye when I moved to Virginia was genuinely one of the hardest goodbyes of the entire move. On top of everything else, her prices are extremely reasonable, especially for the level of care, consistency, and artistry she provides. If you're lucky enough to get on Monica's books, don't take it for granted. She's not just an incredible nail tech -- she's the kind of person who makes a routine appointment feel like a constant in your life. Polish n Refine is something truly special because of her.

First, I wanted to say that I had my hands and feet done here last year but I never thought to…read moreleave a review. I was telling my story of my experience to a friend who asked about the salon and since my experience was so unpleasant, she asked if I had ever left a review. I had not, hence, I am leaving one belatedly as she suggested. I went to this salon to get ready for my daughters wedding. I am not one who normally gets her feet and nails done on a regular basis. I usually just get pedicures a few times during the summer as a treat. Normally I just keep my nails short and my heels smooth at home. However, for my daughters wedding, I wanted a beautiful pedicure. I was so excited that there was a nail salon in a handy location since I had so much to do but I had such a negative experience, that I would never again consider going here. The woman whom I assume is the owner was welcoming and pleasant and even insistent that I give her business a try after I walked in to inquire about services. She insisted that I could park in the lot across the street (which wasn't quite correct), her business has no rights to have their customers use that lot. I was parked there because I had gone to the store, I saw her salon from my car and decided to check it out before leaving. Again, the owner was nice, and a little insistent that I use her services but it wasn't she who gave me the bad experience, it was one of her employees. When I sat for my pedicure, I felt as if she didn't want to serve me. Just her demeanor. (I am a person of color so I didn't know if that had something to do with it). My feet hadn't been in the water very long before she began. She started off okay. Then, as she was engaging and cleaning up my cuticles (which were not exceptionally bad) she began complaining about my skin. As she was doing the pedicure she kept saying that she had "so much skin" to neaten. I've never had such a complaint. She did touch/adjust every nail on my foot but it only took a moment on each nail. Imagine watching someone doing your toes and instead of conversing with me, I was listening as she complained about my cuticles with each and every toe! I wanted to leave right then and there but I really needed my feet done for the wedding which was the following day. She gave each heel a very quick brush because thats all my heels needed they were already smooth. I had a french manicure on my fingernails. I have those beautiful long nail beds and she complained about my fingers! She had to turn my hands slightly to the side. When I noticed she was missing spots I simply pointed out that she missed a spot and turned my hand more for her. She seemed annoyed that she had to pay extra attention to what she was doing and said "oh you have wide nails". While cutting my toenails, this woman was a bit rough handling my feet, and she actually drew blood!!!! She didn't jump up to get an antiseptic or anything. I almost felt it was deliberate because I was getting a bad vibe. My nails were not long or anything but needed to be shaped. She didn't come off as apologetic....although she said "sorry" I felt she was in a hurry and annoyed that I was bleeding. Her conversation with me felt forced as I shared I was going to a wedding. The final insult came during what should have been a relaxing stone foot and leg massage. She knew good and well those stones were too hot and she burned me. Again, another rushed (sorry) I didn't suffer any skin damage but I checked for it because those stones were very hot. Needless to say the massage was rushed and very unsatisfactory as well as painful. Throughout my pedicure, the owner was in the back and there were not other nail technicians in the salon as it was near closing. As soon as my pedicure was done, the nail technician cleaned up and was leaving even as my nails were still drying. She sounded as if she was yelling/talking very loudly at someone at one point while I was at the drying station, I don't know if she was on the phone or if it involved the owner as my back was turned and I couldn't understand what she was saying. If you are a person with a dark complexion, just go elsewhere. I wouldn't wish my experience on anyone. What should have been a lovely experience connected to my daughters wedding turned out to be memorable for all the wrong reasons. I will never go there again although its in a convenient location for me when I'm in the area. I'd rather drive to a salon in Roslindale or hyde park where my business is appreciated and I an respected as a human. My nails looked lovely, but given how I was treated, it didn't matter. I would never go back.

I am in every two weeks for a service. I arrived this morning for my scheduled appointment on time with my daughter to be told that due to an error on their part they cannot take me. I received no prior notification nor a phone call - nothing. The woman at the front desk could not have been more rude and disrespectful. To treat me that way is absolutely unacceptable. Like I said I've been a loyal customer for the past 10 years. After rudely informing me that due to an error on their part they could not see me today, there was nothing done to remedy the situation. I'm filing a formal complaint with corporate and seeing that the woman is fired effective immediately.

TERRIBLE, HOSTILE EXPERIENCE!…read more ...and we didn't even make it to the manicure table! My mom called the Chestnut Hill location on Saturday to make an appointment for Sunday morning. I witnessed my mom make the call and reserve an appointment for a gel mani/regular pedi for me and a gel mani for her. At 11:30 this morning, we arrived at the Chestnut Hill location. The receptionist was busy on the phone, and we waited a full 10 minutes for her to notice us. We let her know about the appointment, and she informed us that we had made a reservation for regular manicures only, and she didn't know if the manicurists would have time to do gel. It turned out that the manicurists on duty did not do gel manicures at all, so the receptionist accused us of "reserving the wrong people..." even though we'd never been there before and hadn't asked for anyone specific. She was completely unapologetic, said they didn't have time for us, and simply told us to leave. While I'm certain that the appointment mix up was on the side of MiniLuxe, that's not what's a big deal - these things happen. What really shocked us was how unapologetic and rude this receptionist was. She did not attempt to find a solution, she did not say sorry for the confusion (isn't the customer always right?), but merely told us that we screwed up and should leave. I commented to the receptionist that we weren't going to come back, and that she should work on her manners. She told me, "I'm sorry you feel that way," without even looking up from her desk. MiniLuxe has a reputation for being a premium experience. It's not a run-of-the-mill $12/manicure salon. People go there for the experience of both luxury and sophistication, and they're willing to pay extra for it. We were deeply disappointed by how we were treated today. With so many luxury salons vying for our business, stick to the highly rated locations if you'd like to be treated with some semblance of respect.
