The lady who did my pedicure an hour and a half before closing on Saturday before Easter was so nice. She did a fantastic job. The place was really clean, nice ambient music and windows all around letting in lovely natural light. I could breathe without inhaling acetone. It felt very spa like as opposed to a small cramped narrow space in a windowless back area smelling of chemicals and polish. The manager is rude. She could not help me figure out the name of the person I have seen when I called for my appointment. She said "We'll see you at 5:30" and hung up. After getting my pedicure and brows waxed, she came to where I was getting my manicure to bully me and demand I apologize for not knowing the person's name that I wanted to see. What's worse, she and her staff were openly making fun of me in their native language (clear due to the two names). I finally shouted "enough already". How can you treat customers this way!? For the first time ever, I was asked to pay mid way through my service. It's insulting to think they thought I'd try to leave without paying. Will NEVER go to a place that treats me like that again. I've given this place multiple tries and every single time it's the same. As other reviewers have said, they don't honor appointments and take walk ins over appts. They also over book. My go to nail salon. I love the ambience here. They have nice soothing music playing, the noise level in the salon is not bad, they sanitize the instruments. I've never had an issue with customer service or my actual service. They do a variety of nail services: dips, gels, overlays, etc. There's a ton of cool pedicure packages to choose from. Because I paid $80 for it I went back in to request my nails be fixed. I was perfectly polite even apologetic but the business owner was clearly annoyed. After fixing my nails she told me not to request the manicure color I did next time likely because she was mad I actually requested her to fix it. If she doesn't want to deal with it then why offer this color? People considering this place could definitely find somewhere else less expensive and more hospitable. Tried numerous nail salons in the Boston area in the past 8 years, I almost gave up on this arguably necessary indulgence. Most places in the Boston area are either too expensive or "meh," or even both. Sophia Nail Spa is the exception. For around $50, I got the best dip powder manicure ever. I showed Amy a couple of pictures from Instagram that I liked. She waved her magic wand (or electric filer), then baptized my nails with fairy dust (or dip powder). Voilà - the best my nails had ever looked. Mes amis, Amy is a skillful master of nail arts. She is the most meticulous, patient, and efficient manicurist I've ever met. Today I made the tech aware that after the first layer of dip I felt the color was too dark. She said, "Don't worry I will do another coat and clear on top." Not as a good as I expected. The colors were limited so I wasn't completely impressed. I had a technician who didn't speak English and although she seemed to be nice, she nicked me on my big toenail and instead of putting alcohol on it she just put it in the water and although the bleeding stopped she just seemed to be really careless I was really worried she was going to hurt my baby toe. I know she tried her best but I don't think she was very experienced or professional so I don't know if I would come here again. On the plus side, the whole space is outfitted with lots of partitions, it felt airy and light with the high ceilings and two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows facing the street, and masks were required, and all of that made it feel fairly Covid-safe. People were generally nice, there's a lot of color choices, my nails look good, the prices are reasonably, and they do online bookings (which is absolutely key in my book). On the negative side, there wasn't a ton of up-front explanation on where things were and how they work- "go wash your hands" "no problem, but could you kindly point out where the sinks are?"-, blood was drawn during my manicure (although to be fair the technician was apologetic), I have no indication that the nail tools used on me were sanitized before me (the towel laid down had a stain so I'm skeptical), the countertop where the dryers are had a layer of dust on it like it hadn't been cleaned in a while, I was asked in the middle of the hand massage to pay (it couldn't wait literally one minute more?), and overall seemed a bit less smooth than I'd like (I had my top coat hastily put on while I was over at the dryers, it was unclear when/how to give my payment so I awkwardly put the cash down next to me and hoped that'd work, etc). My first mani in 2+ years thanks to Covid, and it was just OK which is leaving me wishing I had sucked it up and traveled to my go-tos Don't come here looking for a splurge or to be fully taken care of, but it'll work in a pinch. read more

I've getting my nails done right now and felt compelled write a review. I've been coming here for a couple years and I really like it. The place is big, clean, and bright. If I've ever had issues with my nails (for example on time it chipped and another the color turned weird) they always fixed it for free. My problems have been few and far in between. I love the relaxing music they play and the variety of colors they offer. My only two recommendations that could make this place more outstanding would be to offer wine. My most recent visit on 10/30 was originally booked online with Amy for 5:30. I got a call at 3:40 asking if I could come in at 4 because they had a cancellation. It was snowing, so I figured they wanted to leave early. I agreed with the time and rushed over. My refill was rushed. My refill wasn't booked with who I scheduled it with. Simon has worked on my nails three times. Amy worked on them once and that was my first visit. Every time I booked my appointment online, I schedule it with Amy- but I'm always seen by Simon. If I book my appt with someone in particular, I expect my appointment to be with that person- not disregarded. Super frustrating. Anyways, my refill was super rushed because Simons next client came in. Usually I am sitting in the chair for over an hour. This time was under an hour. I've enjoyed my nails and experience every single time and Simon and Amy know that because I always told them how much I love their salon. But they did me wrong my last appointment. Simon didn't ask what shape I wanted. He gave me these ugly, square, pointy nails. Every time he's done my nails, they are a very subtle coffin shape. My polish is bubbly, the shape is terrible, and the refill is SUPER THICK compared to their regular work! I told them before I left I was extremely unhappy with my experience. I told them that they asked me to come in earlier and then they had the audacity to rush through my nails. I also told them they should've never called me in earlier if they would rush through the appointment. I brought my child with me. She got the princess manicure. Amy asked her, while she was doing the manicure, if she wanted a design. My daughter loves designs and I'm pretty sure that's the only reason why she likes going with me, is to get a nice design. Amy asked, but she never fell through with the design, because she hurried to get to her next client. They definitely did me wrong and I don't recommend agreeing to them asking if you could come in earlier. read more

First time at this place. Specifically asked for seasoned manicurist. It was hands down the worst manicure I've ever had. She harshly filed down my nail beds to remove gel, destroyed my cuticles, the corners of my nails are so sharp they cut and the polish is not covering my entire nail. She did give him a hard time about how long his toe nails had gotten which cracked me up lol. And Katie did my acrylic full set.
