I came here because I was CRAVING poke bowls and plus it's only 10 minutes away from where I live. It's a decent poke bowl place, but I've definitely tried better. Their serving size is NOT generous. Usually for medium size bowls at different poke places, I can barely finish. But here I finished, and I still was a bit hungry (and I'm not a big eater). But overall, it was pretty good. Their fish was pretty fresh, and their fish selection is pretty widespread. Sauce was ok, similar to Pokinometry's in Anaheim and Poki Yaki in Buena Park. Nothing special. If you're a big eater, I would recommend you not to come here because the price is not worth the serving size. read more

Yay! Brea finally adds something delicious and healthy. I have been a huge fan of poke so it's awesome that one is within one minute walking distance. I pretty much have similar feelings about Poki monster as everyone else here on yelp -- not the best poke, but certainly a far cry from the worse. In general, the poke bowl I ordered tasted very good! I got a salad base, tuna, spicy salmon, and scallops, and a variety of toppings plus the volcano 1 and ponzu for sauce. Everything altogether tasted great! I like that you can pick an unlimited amount of toppings and the volcano 1 added the perfect amount of spiciness. The ponzu was a little sour; I don't know if it is supposed to be that way or if it is just not good. Overall, the fish was very good. Tuna was awesome and spicy salmon was great. The problem is the tiny scooper they use to scoop the fish, so in the end there really was not that much fish in the bowl. I was very sorry that I got the scallops because with that tiny scooper, I only ended up with like six scallops in the entire bowl. Anyways, I would probably go back to poki monster, but definitely not my preferred poke place. read more

My wife and I have been eating poke for many years. While the fish and service were good, we have some recommendations so I hope the owner reads Yelp! Larger bowls, so that you can mix the bowl together yourself. Portions were large but filled the bowl completely so no room to mix without it spilling over. Mix the fish and sauce together prior to putting on base, one bite had sauce, the next didn't. Larger spoons, though they completely overstuff the spoons, u wouldn't know that til u ordered, so some may be turned off because they are afraid of small fish portions. Check the rice! Ours was undercooked and crunchy. Finally, advertising would help. I had no idea it was there til I drove by. Location doesn't help that. read more

I come in once a week now, and lately things are regressing backwards... - THEY NEED TO TAKE IT EASY ON THE SAUCE!!! They tend to put in wayyyyy too much sauce, which essentially turns your poke bowl into poke soup. Two nights ago, the guy put in so much sauce that the fish pieces were nearly SUBMERGED. This place is definitely worth every penny. The fish is fresh and the place is kept clean. I will say though that the spicy tuna fish option is SPICY and potent. You get 3 small scoops of whatever fish you like on the regular bowl and I only made one of my three the spicy tuna and it nearly over powered the entire dish. I like spicy but just wasn't expecting THAT much of it from such a tiny amount. I like that you have the option to have half rice half salad base. And I love that they have a brown rice option available. I love that you can have one of every topping option and they don't charge for extra seaweed! The regular bowl was plenty to fill me up and I got only half rice. My only wish is that there was a description of the different sauces displayed somewhere visible. So, I have been to many of the local Poke places and Poki Monster is in the middle. It gets busy, location is in a small strip mall and parking is tough. When they get busy I feel that their quality suffers. I was there on a busy weekday and an middle aged gentleman was at the sauce station where they mix the sauce with the fish. He appeared to be an owner or manager. There was such a line that he just quickly squirted their ponzu like mix over the fish, then just touched the fish with his finger and threw it on the bowl. He didn't put enough sauce, he didn't even attempt to mix it. His sole mission was to get the line moving as fast as humanly possible. I understand his intentions, but the flavor wasn't there. He wanted you out of his line. I have been several other times and they have been often good, but not great at making sure their quality and sauce mixture is consistent. I decided to stop by here today for lunch before work. I think this place is a pretty decent! I ordered a regular bowl with brown rice, salad, salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. As the toppings I got avocado, red onions, masago, imitation crab, seaweed salad, and some sesame seeds. The portions were great! I think they give a lot more compared to pokinometry and have more topping options. Also, the toppings have no additional charge. I thought that the fish was a little overdressed though, which was kind of overwhelming for me and I wasn't able to enjoy the fish as much. I think next time I'll try a different sauce or ask them to use a light hand. It's a little smaller compared to most places but does have enough seats. I thought it was nice to also have outdoor seating as an option. The only issue I had was the parking lot .. When I got there I had to wait a little for parking. As I was leaving, since I just picked up to go, people were just parked in the most random places. Two cars were literally parked with their emergency lights on blocking me from backing up. Pretty decent Poke - nothing outrageously amazing, but not bad either. Unlimited toppings of the normal ones, with extra additional costs for avocado and stuff like that. I got yellowtail, spicy salmon (great!) and spicy tuna. Lotsa toppings. Yum. The sauces are pretty generic. Watch out for their spicy sauces. They have different levels. If you've ever had that chili sauce at Chinese places, all their spicy sauces look like that (but a bit less salty, and more sweet), with different levels of heat. It wasn't what I was expecting, and wasn't very good alone, so I went back and asked them for some spicy mayo to add to it, and then it was good! Overall decent poke. They have a Brown Rice option for health-conscious eaters, and all ingredients looked pretty fresh. I thought the sashimi portions were small but after adding on ALL the toppings, the bowl was huge!! But oh man, the older Asian lady that works there has probably one of the worst attitudes I've ever encountered, and I've experienced it on at least 3 occasions. I get people have bad days and have personal stuff going on in their life but she always has a scowl on her face and is rude and likes to argue with the customers every single time i go here. This past time i went was the WORST customer service I've seen. I asked for spicy salmon as my protein and she said "we have none" and pointed to the empty pan, and i said "well i know you make it so could you please make some more" and she said "well it'll take lots of time" and i said I'm in no rush. She was very irritated and rolled her eyes and she was so upset that she made the spicy salmon WAY too spicy and inedible, all because i asked her to do her job, not to mention it took less than 2 minutes for her to make it, so i know the time excuse was bs, she's just lazy. The young men who work there represent this business in a TERRIBLE WAY! If you see its all guys for employees might as well turn around and go back out the door!! This was my third time at poke monster and I was completely irritated and let down by the staff this time around . Usually its been an all Female staff and Iv never had a complaint. This time it was all very young men who weren't friendly and looked as if they had no idea what was going on.... The young man who helped me did not greet me as i walked in... He did not make eye contact when asking my bowl size he spoke so quietly i could not hear a word he said. He wasnt paying attention he put the wrong rice in my bowl until i corrected him ...then he didnt put the correct scoops in my bowl which is the whole point of Poke .He Clearly did NOT want to be there . Why does this employee have a job if he CLeARly isnt happy being there ? It was terrible, I also work in customer service every day so I know its tough but this young man clearly hates his job. I am absolutely obsessed with Poke after trying out this place. It was my first time trying this Hawaiian style cuisine and I was so excited to find a fast food that I don't feel terrible about eating. I have not written a review for this place yet because I honestly did not know if this was as good as it gets or if there is better out there since Poke joints are all relatively new. That being said, I have tried all the Poke spots around my area and this IS as good as it gets. So, I am finally writing a review that this place deserves since I have experienced the cuisine a little further. Service: The service can be slow if there's a line but the workers are very nice. Parking is limited and can be a hassle though. Food: Fish portions are small but fresh. I have been craving raw fish like crazy but sometimes the cut sizes are just too small to fully enjoy the taste of it but they season it very well. Remember, quality over quantity. There is a lovely and large selection of toppings. The cucumbers are my favorite since they are slightly pickled. They don't charge extra for avocado either - just extra for an additional scoop. The toppings are always fresh and look freshly prepared. I usually get the Poki sauce, sesame oil, and spicy mayo on my bowl with volcano sauce on the side. The combination of the sauces is perfect. Overall: Great place for that Poke craving and great place to give Poke a try for the first time. In addition, they also have a punch card which gives more incentive to keep coming back. Wait-potential for being 4-5 stars-get there between 11-11:30 if you're there for lunch. Line gets long and just the nature of the delivery is slow. Quite a few Q&A and if there's some soup Nazi rejects in line, it's gonna result in some dead air space. Food-5 stars. Plenty of whatever you wanted and lots of options. Shrimp is yum and salmon too. Just don't muck it up with a ton of stuff you like, or you won't get to savor each item. Toppings are awesome cuz there are a lot to choose from! Me likey! Honestly where do I start? This place is sooooo nasty! Let's start off with how I really wanted Pokinometry but didn't feel like driving to Anaheim. So I yelped poke and this place came up. I want to collect money from everyone on Yelp that said it was "delicious" to reimburse me for my meal. Btw I wasn't comparing it to Pokinometry when I initially went in. I wanted it to better because it's way closer to my house. Now on to why it's so disgusting and should be closed. The rice was hard. I couldn't even tell if it was undercooked or dried out. How do you mess up rice in a rice cooker?! Next the fish selection looked...sad. That should have been my first clue to leave. Oh and it smelled funny. I got 2 types of tune and shrimp (I don't remember because it was that nasty). Each fish was nasty and tasted off. And most importantly smelled like fish!!!! Rule number one fish should never smell or taste fishy. It started to make my stomach hurt so I went to bed starving. Now I'm not expecting the best quality fish that was alive that morning but it shouldn't be fishy. Should have drove the extra 10 miles to pokinometry, or really anywhere. Hell McDonalds would have been better! I almost didn't write a review because it was clean and the staff was nice but I'm sick of seeing this place pop up! Approximately three weeks ago I passed by this place and decided to try it with my best friend. When we entered, we didn't really know what to do...then we looked at the signs. lol. It's very simple. You just pick what you want and they assemble the bowls for you. Easy enough. My favorite sauce to add to my Poki is ponzu and sesame oil. My goodness is this place delicious. My best friend and I have literally come to this place every Wednesday for the past three weeks! We are going to be customers for life! *BONUS* they play gooooood throwback music. Went last night around now 5:40 and from pulling into the parking lot, I could see the guys just standing around talking. Inside, there was a large stack of trays not put away near the trash can, which looked messy. Don't know why they just left a mess during a lull. The guy who helped us (think he was Korean but w/o glasses) bummed me out. He seemed like he hated every moment of working there and by the time I paid, I wasn't too excited to eat or have paid money for such a lame experience. Great option for raw fish when you don't want to go to a sit down sushi place. I really enjoy other incarnations of these fast food poke places, and am glad to have one so close to home finally. The service was friendly, fish was fresh, and I like how many options there are for sauces and toppings. The server recommended I mix a few sauces together and as I couldn't decide between the sauces that worked perfectly for me. Only negatives are the early closing time and The fact that I wish they were more generous with the massago (small fish eggs), as some other poke places will load that stuff on if you want. I was super excited to try this place since its next to my house, but was highly disappointed. First of all, the staff was kind of weird. Not friendly at all. Secondly, the portion size was small for the price. And most importantly, the flavor of the fish was horrible. The fish did not taste fresh. Nothing is worst than the taste of bad fish. I ordered the salmon and tuna. I will definitely not be coming back. No wonder I was the only customer there at the time. I tried PokiNometry in Anaheim and their fish tasted SO fresh, portion size was huge, staff was friendly, etc...the only thing is that there's always a long line, but that's because it's GOOD food!
