I've heard many good things about this place and I understand why! We were luckily enough to come on a day that wasn't too crowded and got seared immediately. The chairs imo, were too high for the table, I felt like I was hovering over the food, idk if that makes sense but something I noticed immediately after sitting. The menu system is a bit confusing. There's a paper menu and one you place online via QR code. For the paper menu, we were limited to 20 pieces of nigiri at a time. This wasn't a huge deal since it was only 2 of us, but I can see how that can become frustrating with larger groups especially since there's only 3 rounds, unless the limit increases with group size. The online ordering system only allowed you to order 2 appetizers at a time. I love me some baked mussels and unfortunately 1 order = 1 baked mussels which means we were only able to order 2 mussels at a time and then have to wait until our 5 minute wait period is over before placing another order. This is the first sushi restaurant that I been to that had this small of a limit... They also limited you on the carpaccio order but that was expected. Aside from the menu and ordering frustration, I think their food and service is great. Their fish tasted very high quality and the fish to rice ratio was spot on! They had many different options of nigiri to try, so we definitely got to try a little of everything. There was only 1 item we didn't like and our server was kind enough to remove it from our bill. Overall it was a good place for high quality sushi. I just wish I wasn't so limited when placing orders since it is ayce and they already emphasis the leftover charge.

Besides that the food was great as always. I wish they did offer a less rice option but the portion isn't as much as other places. It's a very very busy location so i would recommend getting there a decent amount of time earlier than you'd want to eat.

We did the $42 ayce standard and it was very good. Probably my favorite ayce sushi places. They have a huge menu of nigiri, carpaccio, appetizers, ramen, rolls with a handful of rice less rolls (we liked the Sakura roll). Sushi quality was great! Some items are limited to 2 pc per person like the carpaccio and those were some of our favorites. Unagi (eel) is limited in sushi form but you can get unlimited eel hand rolls.
Still my fav all you can eat sushi spot. Lunch deal is such a great deal. If you like salmon. Don't sleep on this spot. I hate when all the fish taste the same. But here the salmon is always nice and buttery. Great texture Salmon bomb I get regular salmon and peppered that has a slight sear Udon soup is really good here. Get the Nagasaki spicy udon. Flavor is so good. Little char flavor that I love. This is a must get Fried tempura shrimp is done well Always good food. Always great service. Plenty of parking

We did the lunch signature $41.99 pp My friends have been raving at how affordable and delish the fish here is esp the toro but I had one order of it and I did not want another order off the menu at all. Only good tasting item was the Alaskan roll. Calamari Karaage is also a good appetizer. Items we tried during our visit: *Baked Mussel - came out on the cold side. Baked mussels is usually warm. *Alaskan Roll *Orion Draft *Grilled Chicken Teriyaki (Half Size) tastes like they used old oil or it's been in the deep freezer for awhile. *Albacore Carpaccio (2 pcs) *Yellowtail Carpaccio (2 pcs) *Baked Scallop Roll *Rainbow Roll - 1 - tasted normal. Walking into the establishment to put my name down it had a fishy smell. But I tried my best to just keep a positive outlook since I've had friends who rave about the place. But after the meal, I felt like I should've listened to my gut when I smelled how fishy it smelled. Restroom needed attention! Female toliet has no toilet seats and just needed to be cleaned up. I personally would not recommend this spot nor would I come back. I just felt very disappointed and like I wasted my money since it was not the best tasting. Tips: *Credit card accepted *Indoor seating only *Serves alcohol *Free street/parking structure nearby *They have another location in Buena Park.
Tried this for dinner on a Thursday around 6 pm with a party of 2. We were seated right away, but heads up, they won't seat you until everyone in your party arrives. It's located in a big shopping center with Ralph's and Home Goods. I'd recommend parking in the open lots since it's much easier to find a spot than using the structure next to X-Fish. We went with the Omakase and spent about $60 each including tip. Food was good with a nice variety, including tonkotsu, sushi (of course), and a chicken BBQ skewer. The seafood quality was solid, although u had just gotten back from Japan, so it's hard not to compare. We wanted to try some of their wines, but they only sold it by the bottle, which was more than we wanted. Taking off 1 star because it was very loud inside. I think it's the way the space is built - everyone's voices seem to echo. Overall, good food and decent value, just not the best place if you're looking to have conversation over dinner.
We went as a group of five, toddler included. She's 2.5 so she came free under their kids policy (anyone under 39" eats free, nice touch for a family outing). The four of us hit the specialty items first, bluefin tuna, jumbo Hokkaido scallop, smoked salmon, salmon roe, plus the full carpaccio lineup (albacore, tuna, salmon, yellowtail), before settling into the regular rounds: salmon, tuna, albacore, yellowtail, butter peppered shrimp, tri peppered salmon and tuna, tuna tartare, and the katsu x fish salmon. Rounded out with eel, octopus, mackerel and scallop. Great spot for a family AYCE lunch, easy to bring a little one along and not pay extra for her to just sit there and steal edamame.
Sushi is delicious! Our favorite is smoked salmon, the giant scallops, yuzu yellowtail and Cajun tuna. We enjoyed everything but the tri peppered sushi, they were mildly flavored and underwhelming. The first two rounds of our order arrived quickly but the third time we had to get the servers attention to pick up the order sheet (I noticed another table had to do the same) staff passed by our table multiple times and didn't pick it up. This time the sushi took a long time to arrive, it pushed us to the 90 minute time limit. I appreciated one staff member coming by and giving grilled chicken skewer sample (very good!) The restaurant is round shaped and the acoustics inside is awful. It's very noisy and it's difficult to hear the staff. The chairs scrape on the floor. Also the table tops have water damage from the ice water glass condensations, coasters would help. The restrooms were ghetto. One of the women's sink was out of order, one of the stalls was out of toilet paper but the big roll was precariously hanging from the stall door hook and it fell and rolled on the floor. For the price I expected a better experience.

It's almost $45 a person and it's supposedly renowned but call me picky it's just not worth the hype or cost. Wait times can be extensive due to the popularity. You're limited to 3 rounds (20 pieces each) of nigiri. You're also limited to 2 rolls and 2 appetizers or something absurd for the online menu and have to wait in between to order more. Quality of fish is ok compared to other places I've had, but for the cost it's nothing spectacular. Overall, it's better AYCE than other places I've been, but it's on the higher cost end for AYCE. The overall ambiance is nice and fancier. It's really clean inside and feels premium.
My most favorite sushi place ever. I love the tri-pepper salmon and tuna. Chicken karaage and calamari are also really good. Not a big fan of the blue fin tuna, carpaccio, or the rolls offered on the izakaya menu.

X-Fish is just okay now. This is our go-to spot whenever we want to eat AYCE sushi, we either go to this location or the Buena Park location. Both are the same as far as price, service, and quality. I do find that after ordering the 1st round of sushi, the 2nd round and so on usually take a while to come by. Not sure if that's intentional or if it just happens to be busy as the day progresses. To get your moneys worth definitely stick to ordering to their paper menu (sushi bar) Nigiri is only 10 per person for each round though and everything else on that menu is limited per round. Rolls are okay here too, it's a hit or miss. One time we ordered the BP roll and spit it out because it tasted rancid and when we complained they said it could just have had a higher level of mercury because they prepare the batches in bulk every morning. The ramen/udon are also just okay. Like I said, I do frequent both locations often because they have really good seared salmon! (Tri-peppered salmon) read more

I enjoyed this location as well. Quality is consistent and delicious. My top choices are the seared salmon choice and yuzu yellowtail nigiri. Each person gets 2 bluefin tuna nigiri maximum! I enjoy their fried calamari and baked mussels. Skipped on the rolls because they'll fill you up quickly. read more

Came in right when they opened, service is fast and the portions are really great! The rolls are nice and hearty, the x fish roll is our personal favorite. Decor is nice and it doesn't feel too crowded even with a full house. Location in downtown Brea also makes it easy to take a much needed post meal walk lol. read more

My family and I happened to try this Brea location of X-Fish Izakaya by chance and it has been one of our favorite finds of the summer. The service is always friendly and attentive. The restaurant is laid out nicely and always clean when we visit. The sushi is also tasty and fresh. X-Fish Izakaya is probably one of our favorite AYCE sushi spots in the area. Located in Downtown Brea, X-Fish Izakaya is situated in an area with several shops and restaurants. There aren't any parking spots directly in front of the restaurant, however, the Downtown Brea area has free parking garages, one of which is very close to the establishment. Their menu offers several options, mainly sushi, but also a good amount of kitchen items and ramen selections. Some of my favorite items include the: - Bluefin Tuna - Tri Peppered Salmon - Truffle Salmon Roll - Salmon Lover Roll Flavor is perfect for all of these items and the freshness and quality, especially for it being AYCE, is on point. If you're thinking about giving this Brea location of X-Fish Izakaya a try, definitely do it. We've been to one other location, and this one blows them out of the water on all accounts of food and service. read more

This ayce sushi spot has been on my radar for a minute so I'm so glad I finally gave it a try! The quality of the fish is pretty good! I went on a weekday, so the waitlist wasn't too long. There's not much room to sit and wait for your table to be ready, but you can walk around the nearby shops. There's a QR code menu that you can order from and your server gives you a paper to write down how many pieces of sushi you want. Even though you can order a lot, you're not compromising on quality for quantity. I recommend the hamachi, tri pepper tuna, and unagi. Service was good. The wait for rolls didn't take too long. I would definitely be back with friends! read more

Really enjoyed our experience at X Fish! We went for the dinner all-you-can-eat Signature Menu, which is $41 per person and has a great variety of options. The fish was fresh, everything came out quickly, and the service was great. Our server, Young Jun, was especially helpful and made sure to let us know about all of the specials. TLDR; Fresh fish, friendly service, and lots of options. Walk-in or reserve on Yelp. Order the pepper salmon and the yuzu yellowtail. Recommend trying all the limited options (carpaccio, jumbo scallop, roe, bluefin, smoked salmon)! SERVICE Great service, delicious fresh fish, and a spacious clean dining area. Shout out to the wonderful hosts! The food did take a little bit longer to come out, but there is no limit to the amount of rounds you can have. You can order up to 50 pieces per round on their paper menu and then order rolls and apps with their QR code. PARKING Free plaza parking or street parking! Located in a beautiful plaza with lots of eateries including boba, Thai food, coffee shop, desserts, and more. RESERVATIONS Join the waitlist on Yelp or walk-in. COST Around $40 pp and well worth. There's also a more expensive premium option. FOOD The rice to fish ratio was PERF, a slight bite of rice with tender fish. The pepper salmon was my favorite. Sadly you can only get some premium items once so make sure you get those! I also really liked spicy scallop and yellowtail. The eel also surprisingly wasn't boney and delicious. Their rolls were also really good but super filling. Def recommend trying their baked scallop or crawfish rolls. APPS Their miso soup and garlic edamame were perfect to refresh your palettes. Also really liked the mussels! I'd pass on the sweet tamago, it didn't really taste like a typical sweet egg. OVERALL A great place to get your sushi fix! Clean, spacious, and quick to get seated during off hours. Friendly servers and lots of sushi options include sashimi, apps, ramen, skewers, and rolls. Would have liked some kind of dessert like fruit or icecream at the end but that's just me being phat :-) . read more

Okay... this place is SO good. We finally tried it and everything we ordered was honestly a hit. The fish tasted super fresh, the quality was definitely there, and the presentation was beautiful without feeling over the top. The menu has so many options, so it's a fun spot to share a bunch of dishes with your table. We didn't realize this place is AYCE which WE LOVE! Service was friendly, our food came out pretty quickly, and the whole vibe inside is really nice for a date night or dinner with friends. Definitely one of those spots we'd come back to when we're craving good sushi and Japanese bites. read more

I came here and had AYCE for an early dinner date. I didn't have to wait for seating. The taste of everything was good. My favorites were some of the sushi rolls. I also had the edamame, cheese balls, and ramen. The staff were helpful. I was stuffed and there were still plenty of more options to try. Previously, I came to this same location a few years ago for someone's birthday dinner and it was probably one of the worst service I've ever had, so I was hesitant to come back. X-Fish Izakaya is in a great location at The RAYA, surrounded by Ralphs and plenty of restaurants and shops. It's a beautiful, convenient area and the restaurant itself has a nice modern feel. The food was pretty good overall and the presentation was beautiful. I tried a nice variety of premium nigiri and sashimi, plus some kitchen items. Unfortunately, some of the premium fish was warmer than I prefer my sushi, especially on a very hot day, which took away from it a bit. My biggest frustration was the ordering system. There are limits on how many kitchen items you can order at once, and somehow I found myself ordering ONE little mussel at a time. Even worse, while that order was pending, I couldn't order other kitchen items. Thankfully, one of the servers noticed my frustration and eventually brought me a handful of mussels -- I really appreciated him doing that. Service was okay overall. Everyone was nice, but I think it could be a little more attentive and accommodating- the hostess simply dropped me off without explaining anything to me and no one came to my table for several minutes. There are better sushi spots in the area in my opinion, but X-Fish is still a solid option with good variety, attractive presentation and a great location. I'd probably come back, especially if they simplify the ordering process. read more

The service was all over the place from the moment we arrived. Everyone seemed stressed and disorganized, and unfortunately that translated into a pretty frustrating experience for us. One of our food tickets was completely missed, and we ended up waiting about 40 minutes for our food while trying to figure out what was going on. This order was entered electronically via the QR code, but it didn't print? Mistakes happen, but there wasn't much communication or urgency in getting the issue resolved. What really pushed this experience into 1-star territory, though, was something we witnessed afterward. We saw one of the chefs leave the bathroom and walk straight back into the kitchen without washing his hands. Seeing that from someone handling raw seafood was extremely concerning and completely ruined any confidence we had in the cleanliness of the kitchen. Between the chaotic service, the missed order, the long wait, and especially the hygiene issue, this was a very disappointing experience. We won't be returning. read more

We took advantage of their lunch price on a weekday. For a table of seven, we waited about 20 to 30 minutes to be seated. We all opted for the all you can eat menu, but I believe that X-fish also offers an Omakase option or just à la carte. The server provided us with a paper where you'll order all of your nigiri. There's a limit of 10 nigiri pieces per individual per round, but there's unlimited number of rounds within the 90 minute eating period. To order the other items, you scan a QR code and place your order using the website for your table. Just note that if there's multiple people placing orders on phones, there's a five minute wait. before each order can be submitted. I loved the rice to fish ratio for all the nigiri. The fish quality was superb. I also really enjoyed all of the rolls that we got, especially the no rice ones. The ramen and the udon were equally phenomenal. Overall fantastic experience at X-fish. Be prepared to wait because they don't take reservations unless the party is 15+. read more

X-Fish remains my favorite sushi place ever (and trust me, I've been to many)!!' No matter how busy they are, their staff is always super efficient and friendly. The food is always top tier -- fish is always fresh, salmon soft and buttery, and the buttered peppered shrimp is to die for. They have such good lunch prices too, I can't imagine going anywhere else!! I want to give a personal shoutout to Hyung-hun for being so compassionate, kind, and attentive. He's such a beacon of light and this establishment is so lucky to have him. He is the kind of person that makes you hopeful for the world because he has so much humility and is so understanding. I also had great experiences with the hostess and Dean, the waiter!! They were so friendly and helpful!! I wish I got the hostess's name, but she had long hair and it was covering her name tag. I am ALWAYS craving X-Fish. Even if I recently satisfy my craving, it's not long before I start craving it again. They are always quite busy. You show up and you sign in on their guest registry and they will notify you when your table is ready. They do not take reservations.

their reservation isn't accurate, you can put yourself online first, and then, on Saturday I had to wait for an hour, luckily the main street in Brea seems to be colorful and worthy taking a stroke down the Birch street
