Went in alone on a Wednesday cause I decided to try this place out . I got the cheapest tier of AYCE. I ordered peppered salmon nigiri, salmon skin cut roll, fresh salmon nigiri, spicy Udon, shrimp tempura and garlic edamame. The seared salmon was too salty to my taste because they sprinkled flaky salt on top of the fish. Overdid the salt. The fresh fish was okay not amazing. My highlight of my meal was actually the spicy Udon. I noticed that their portions are bigger . One order of shrimp tempura has 4 pieces of it while other AYCE places usually gives 2 pieces per order. The bigger portions per order is both good and bad. I would suggest going with a group to share the orders. For me all the things that I ordered was too much for me alone . I feel like for the price of $30 , i would get more options with appetizers like Chicken karage. There are better AYCE out there that I have tried that doesn't have 3 different ridiculous tiered AYCE. I wanted to try more but I couldn't justify their price . Service was fast though on a weekday. finally got to try x-fish as we've always gone to aburi for ayce and can say we probably won't be back. we came on a friday afternoon and it wasn't that busy as the wait was only 5 minutes. we still had to check in on their ipad and wait outside in the heat when there were plenty of empty/open tables. it's a casual establishment with plenty of seating and i liked the kitchen being right in the middle of the restaurant. service was just okay as well, didn't really provide any warm or friendly service. while the quality was decent and they do have a decent variety of sushi, ramen, udon, and other appetizers/dishes, i can say everything was just mediocre. i do enjoy that their fish to rice ratio is great but the only nigiri that we really enjoyed (for both taste and quality) were the bluefin tuna, jumbo scallop, unagi, ikura, salmon/katsuo salmon, and yuzu yellowtail. even for some of the nicer nigiri, there was a limit to only 2 orders per person. we also tried their truffle salmon roll which luckily their rolls come with 8 pieces but this one didn't have any truffle notes as it was overwhelmed with the crabmeat notes. the shrimp tempura udon was also decent but it had a fishy taste from the shrimp. i'd say the best things we had were their garlic edamame and gyozas. they're also called izakaya but our server told us they don't really offer any skewers unless the chef chooses to cook some and they start passing around their "pass around menu". for the price ($42) of their ayce, you could definitely find better places. unless you really enjoy rolls, this might be the spot for you. read more

Located in Downtown Brea, X-Fish Izakaya is situated in an area with several shops and restaurants. There aren't any parking spots directly in front of the restaurant, however, the Downtown Brea area has free parking garages, one of which is very close to the establishment. Their menu offers several options, mainly sushi, but also a good amount of kitchen items and ramen selections. There's also a more expensive premium option. FOOD The rice to fish ratio was PERF, a slight bite of rice with tender fish. The pepper salmon was my favorite. We all opted for the all you can eat menu, but I believe that X-fish also offers an Omakase option or just à la carte. The server provided us with a paper where you'll order all of your nigiri. There's a limit of 10 nigiri pieces per individual per round, but there's unlimited number of rounds within the 90 minute eating period. To order the other items, you scan a QR code and place your order using the website for your table. Just note that if there's multiple people placing orders on phones, there's a five minute wait. before each order can be submitted. I loved the rice to fish ratio for all the nigiri. We wanted to take his cousin out for his birthday. He'd never been here so it was a great introduction to this establishment. This is located in Downtown Brea. There is a parking garage near it. We arrived around 6:30pm on a Friday and the garage was getting full. We checked in on their kiosk and waited for 30 mins, not bad. The restaurant is spacious. They offer table and bar seating. This is great for casual dining. I love the neutral tone paired with the warm lighting throughout. My husband and I have been here before two years ago. The food is just as we remembered! The sushi was fresh, S I L K Y, and packed with flavor. It's the time and effort put into their dishes that I appreciated. We ordered some of the same pieces in the second round and they were consistent. Even when the restaurant was filling up, the quality and customer service stayed the same. We also ordered two beers to share among us: Sapporo and Kirin. The Sapporo was especially smooth and crisp. It made the ingredients of the sushi pop more for me. The Kirin didn't compare, but did the job. The servers would check on us periodically. If you can't find yours at the moment, there is always someone available that you can flag over. We requested to have more ginger and that did not take long to fulfill. By the end of the third round, I asked our cousin if he would come back. He undoubtedly said yes! Celebrated our wedding anniversary at X-Fish Izakaya and finally got to try the spot we've been hearing so much about. We came in with no expectations and waited about 30 minutes--not bad at all considering how busy they get. The ambiance was beautiful, with high open windows bringing in lots of natural light, giving the space a bright and airy feel. We decided to go with the omakase AYCE, but it came with a few surprises. It's not exactly a true all-you-can-eat experience--there's a limit of 20 pieces of nigiri per round (up to 3 rounds), plus only 2 hot items per order. It felt a bit restrictive and slightly misleading for AYCE, which was a little disappointing--especially since many AYCE spots have similar limits on premium items. That said, the highlight was definitely the bluefin tuna--fresh, flavorful, and worth it. The omakase option gives you access to more premium cuts compared to the regular AYCE, where you're limited to just a couple pieces. The nigiri options are pretty good and the yellowtail sushi with green sauce was very nice. The yellowtail and tuna rolls were also very fresh and packed with flavor. The inside is quite big with plenty of tables, but even then this place gets packed even early during lunch hours and we had to wait 45 minutes on the waitlist to get seated. It's a little annoying because their lunch AYCE ends at 2pm and we were sat at 2pm and they told us it was dinner menu only. The ambiance is simple yet modern. The service was pretty good. You basically get a QR code that you can and then you use your phone to make the selections and send it to the kitchen and it is brought to the table. Besides that, this was a great AYCE sushi option in Brea and the locals clearly know because the place is loud and packed the whole time we were dining there. Service was very slow and the food came out slowly too. Our first round took about 25 mins before arriving - we immediately put our second order in when our food came. We ordered the standard Ayce for weekend, not the omakase. I will say the omakase is a good choice if you're really hungry or if you like bluefin tuna. My favorite nigiri of the night was the seared tuna, so fatty and delicious. Everything else was fresh as well. I will say their regular tuna tasted odd though. X fish is a good place in Brea for Ayce, I've come twice now. I'd say give it a shot if you're craving decent sushi, just make sure you have the time to spend waiting! First thing no one greeted us or explain how things work and server just left us to order and figure out things ourselves. The layout of the tables being so tight together I doubt this was fire department approved seating numbers. The atmosphere is trendy vibe but the ugly disgusting cement floor is dirty and even more dirty!! The restaurant goes with semi upscale theme but yet they use McDonald's cheap large roll of thin and narrow toilet paper!! OMG Put something better in there!! Onto the actual food, fish quality is a joke, it's borderline crappy Ayce Chinese buffet sushi quality. Unagi falls apart in pieces, surf clam is harder than any erasers, anything not as fresh is covered by large amount of peppers flakes or spicy sauce. The only good thing is small amount of rice on the negiri but often falls off plenty of times. They worried so much about waste but yet they won't let you order half a roll . Middle of our dinner when we wanted to order more food via website, we got the bill, it got messed up and took 10 minutes or so to fix . My son ordered their ramen, both their picture and item description said it came with an egg but actual item showed up without, when we asked waiter said we need to update menu, you can't let us know ahead of time ?? The pass around menu is a total scam!! Only 1 time chicken skewers showed up and that was it! Once they fixed the website ordering problem, we asked for extra time cos they messed up, they completely ignored us and pretend they've gone deaf !! No one came by to tell us last call on website ordering we did manage to squeeze in our 3rd round of negiri. Some were more nasty than others. The hamachi Kama was okay, not as big as YouTuber's review video( should have known YouTuber can't be trusted !!) Often they collab with restaurants to advertise their place. Conclusion: I don't recommend this place, don't know how they manage to get 4 stars on Yelp. Aburi and Osen sushi in Bruena Park are way way better !!! Service here is the same as the Buena Park location, you'd have to flag servers down to place orders. They don't really check in on you consistently like other restaurants do. What I do like about X-Fish is rice-to-fish ratio. Rice portions are small and fish cuts are generous. Peppered shrimp nigiri, salmon, and bluefin tuna were really good. Only item I would avoid is ikura. It didn't taste fresh at all and honestly had an off taste that made my stomach hurt. Appetizers are solid like croquettes, cheese balls, and edamame, but miso soup came out cold.. which was strange. If you're looking for an AYCE sushi spot with attentive service, I'm not sure this location or Buena Park one would be best choice. To be fair, host did try his best to seat us sooner, which I appreciated. Went here a few months ago, staff were rude and lacked empathy towards our group of 10. My son was 36" and naturally doesn't eat alot of raw seafood but they still charged half price despite under 39" is supposedly free. We did the signature menu, sushi was pretty good and surprisingly the fried rice was addicting but the mood was ruined upon seating. Plenty of parking in the structure nearby. read more

Amazing. Everything about this visit was good. We came here right after they had opened. The service was good. The fish were clean and fresh. The restaurant was clean and well-lit. Ordering food was a breeze, and they had a lot of good stuff to choose from. Their premium items were delicious and just leaves you wanting more. I highly recommend trying this location, getting here at opening, and getting the premium set. read more
