I originally did not want to leave a negative review for a newly opened restaurant. After all, new restaurants need time to adjust, and I wanted to give the owners a chance to improve. However, after what happened during our visit, especially the fact that the manager did not take any meaningful action, I feel that I need to write this review so the management team is aware of the problems. If customer feedback is not heard, it becomes difficult for a restaurant to identify issues and improve. First, I want to mention the only thing that deserves praise: the restaurant was very clean. The overall environment was well maintained, and the utensils and equipment appeared to be properly cleaned and organized. Unfortunately, aside from the environment, the overall dining experience was extremely disappointing. Regarding the food, the sushi rice was noticeably hard in the center and unevenly cooked. The fish did not taste very fresh, and the flavor was very average. We came as a family of four to try the restaurant, but even my two children, who usually love conveyor belt sushi, only ate a few bites before they no longer wanted to continue. Besides the items we picked from the conveyor belt, we also ordered 12 dishes through the tablet. In the end, everyone lost interest in eating most of them. However, because we did not want our children to waste food, we tried our best to eat as much as we could. Unfortunately, we still had to leave some food unfinished. Even the grilled fish collar, which is usually one of the safest choices and hardest dishes to get wrong, was only eaten for a few bites before we gave up. I would not say the food was completely inedible because everyone has different tastes and preferences. I also do not want to give a low rating simply because the food did not match my personal preference. However, the quality of the food and the overall experience did not meet our expectations. All four members of my family felt the same way. After only three plates, we were already discussing whether we should just pay and leave to find another restaurant. However, because we wanted to support a newly opened restaurant, we decided to continue giving it a chance. Unfortunately, the biggest issue happened afterward. Although this was partly our own fault because we were very hungry and did not carefully inspect the utensils, we discovered that three out of the four pairs of chopsticks had mold on them. Seeing this was extremely unpleasant and honestly made us feel sick. We had already lost confidence in the food, and this completely destroyed our appetite. We immediately informed the server. The server said they would notify the manager and took the chopsticks away. Later, the server came back with the check, simply said, "I'm sorry," and walked away. We understand that the restaurant may have wanted to remove the problematic utensils first, but what was disappointing was that the manager never came out to check on us, apologize, or personally address the situation. Food safety is the most basic responsibility of any restaurant. When something like this happens, at the very least, a manager should personally speak with the customers, apologize, and show that the restaurant takes the matter seriously instead of acting as if nothing happened. We do not need any compensation, and we will not be returning. This review is not meant to attack a newly opened restaurant. We are writing this because we hope the restaurant will truly take customer safety, food quality, and service seriously. We hope the management sees this issue and makes improvements in the future. I've been anticipating going to one of these revolving sushi type restaurants, and I finally came here after being convinced by my son. The setup is cool and fairly simple. Anything rotating off of the food belt is $3.75... anything you want, not that price, or special order, you can pick from the tablet. The special orders get delivered from a separate ramp above the conveyor belt by a mini robot that zips right over your table (straight out of the movie Wall-E). Once you grab that your order, you tap the button to aknowledge that you grabbed your food, and it zooms back to the kitchen. When you are all done with you meal, they count up all the conveyor belt plates against anything you order separate, and you pay. First of all, the store is clean and I enjoy the whole feel of having your next craving within arms reach. All the food is colorful and fresh, and wonderfully tasty. We particularly enjoyed the salmon crunch roll, the crab inari, and the seared salmon. I'm a huge fan of unagi, and this unagi was to die for. Everything overall was pretty good, and I would say that the food and the experience is worth it. Depending on how hungry you are, the pricing is decent. Between my son and I, we spent right around $50. I would say, this would have cost more at most other sushi restaurants, and having the ready to go food off the belt is such a time saver. My husband and I dined here on a Thursday night around 8:15PM. The food and service were just as impeccable as on our first visit. The same goes for ambiance. It was very clean and well-lit. This is the second Sushi Rev location I've tried and it was almost exactly the same as the other one! This one was definitely more spacious though with more table options so we didn't have to wait as long. All the sushi is on the conveyor belt so there isn't much to say about service. The day we went, they ran out of a lot of the cuts, specifically a lot of the ones with truffle and also the yellowtail and salmon belly cuts, which unfortunately were some of my favorites. It's crazy to think that over a decade ago there was rotating sushi in this plaza, and once again, a rotating sushi business has returned. Aside from the seeming monopoly that Kura has on the rotating sushi business, the only other "rotating" sushi (not really though since you order it out and it gets sent out to you only) is Waka Sakura, part of Tokyo Central, so it's nice to see a breath of fresh air. I'm sure there are other locations, I've just never been in range. My friends and I came here around 6 PM on a weekday and we were able to get seated immediately. However, by the time we were mid way through our meal, all other tables filled up and people were starting to wait outside. If it's this busy on a weekday, I cannot imagine what it's like on a Friday evening or on the weekend, so keep your eyes peeled on their Yelp waitlist! It definitely looks more high end and fancier than Kura and the ambiance is perfect for a date or nicer dinner. So like other rotating sushi, the dishes come out on the conveyer belt and rotate around. You sort of pick up the dish to get the cover to open and it's pretty neat since the workers can scan the dish from the top to get the prices and add it to your bill. And the workers are pretty dang efficient too, filling up waters when needed, came by when summoned on the tablet, and cleared our dishes quite quickly. If there's something you'd like that's not on the belt, you can always order on the tablet. There's a cool down time of around 5 minutes between each order and things do sell out too. All orders on the tablet come out on this rail and little ride booth (reminds me of Disneyland rides with the track) with a message FACING YOU, so you know that it's your order with everything on top of it. We saw another table be slow men and their order went back to the kitchen. Plates are around $3.75 and a bit pricier for the fancier items but I would say it's better in quality, uniqueness, and rice to fish ratio than Kura. The tempura shrimp here isn't $9 like Kura and other non sushi items were much cheaper too. They also have more unique seasonings and flavors to their sushi like interestingly enough strawberry jam unagi nigiri (not bad), there's truffle, yuzu, garlic, and jalapeno and they even had escolar which is a fav. PRO-TIP: Ask for ponzu sauce or wasabi mayo from the server if you'd like. All the fish was tasty and fresh. I think the only qualms were the slightly too salty shishito peppers for those who ate it and the mushiness of the sweet potatoes (could have been more crispy). Other than that, I think I prefer Rev over Kura. Also shout out to the server with the BASED AF shoujo tattoo sleeve, I didn't quite get her name but she was super cool and friendly!! read more

The employees were really nice to explain to us how this sushi place was a revolving sushi conveyer belt style. If there was a certain item that didn't come around, you can use their iPad to request items that have not been seen on the belt. The place is really clean when I went. It was a nice experience and the prices were really decent. I believe their sushi quality and prices are better than most places. I would recommend coming here early around 5-6pm since parking could get crowded from the other restaurants that are in the same plaza. read more

Waited for a few minutes and got seated. Staff explained the process on how to order and how to get the plates from the conveyor belt. It was simple. If the belt ran out of certain items and you're unable to wait for refills, you can order the items using the tablet. For rolls, carpaccios, premium sushi, and etc...we ordered using the tablet. It gets delivered to our table pretty quick. Prices for the rolls were decent for the portions. Presentation was nice as well. I really enjoyed the toro and garlic mackerel sushi. Went during the initial soft opening and was happy to hear about a conveyor belt sushi spot opening in the neighborhood. My party of 2 went on a Wednesday night at 7 pm and there was no wait. We were set at a booth seat and our waitress told us how to order using the tablet as well as how to get the sushi off the conveyer belt. It might be because we went pretty late into the night but immediately I could tell some of those dishes sat out for a while. Fish was dry and leaking oil. I typically order straight from the tablet anyways because I prefer believing they come freshly made from the kitchen! They have an overall limited selection - but everything was so tasty! I loved all the carpaccios and the fish is very fresh. I did noticed the gold dishes they came in were oily and had finger print stains though - pretty nasty. All this to say, I still enjoyed dinner very much here and between the affordable prices and good quality, Sushi Rev is a good contender for sushi in Rowland Heights. My parents even came a few days after me and thoroughly enjoyed dining here too. Ambiance is clean, spacious and calm. Parking is generally easy unless it's a weekend night.
